[Q] More Device Space on Cooked ROM - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I get more device space on a cooked rom. Regular stock rom has over 600 mb of device space and cooked roms only have about 40 mb of rom. How can I create more space. I keep getting phone running low on stoaage message on every cooked rom I put on my phone.
Thnaks for your help.

that is kinda strange, as i have the opposite.
task 29 before installing new rom?
what roms have you tried? energy always seems good.

Sounds as though you have HSPL and a 3.14 based ROM.

I have tried using Enegry Dinik of Glass rom and it give me that message also. How do I perform task 29.

Hey I have HSPL and yes it's a 3.14 Rom. what should I do to get more space.
Thanks

Get start to remove HSPL: Use HSPL_RUU.exe and select a spl value.
And reinstall Stock ROM 3.14
Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL!

should I try to put an older rom instead of 3.14. Is there a video on how to put new rom on sd card or how to remove hspl.

There are two ways to do it:
A)Over ActiveSync
1) Download HSPL2_RUN.exe
2 Connect your device to your PC
3) Run HSPL2_RUN.exe and set your SPL value to SPL 1.66.
2. Soft reset your device after you have done that.
3) Download with your S/N from the HTC webpage your ROM version 3.14
4) After downloading this to your PC, connect device to PC and be awair that it is well connect over ActiveSync or WMC
5) Run the RUU_Leo_xxx_x.XX.xxx.x_Radio_xx.xx.xx.xU_x.xx.xx.x_LEO_Ship file from your PC as administrator.
6) Follow the steps on your screen

Or
B)Over SD card
1) Download the correct Stock ROM from the HTC Webpage by using your S/N. (you will get a RUU_Leo_xxx_x.XX.xxx.x_Radio_xx.xx.xx.xU_x.xx.xx.x_LEO_Ship file.)
2) Right click on the RUU_Leo_xxx_x.XX.xxx.x_Radio_xx.xx.xx.xU_x.xx.xx.x_LEO_Ship file and select extract with 7Zip/WinZip
3) Prepared your SD-card (use a 2 or 4GB SD no bigger) and format it by FAT32
4)Take the "RUU_signed.nbh" from it and copy it to SD card.
5) Rename the "RUU_signed.nbh" to "leoimg.nbh"
6) Reset the device while pressing the volume down button
7) Follow the instructions mention on your device screen

Thanks alot for the videos. So, when I want to put another custom rom. Should I use 3.14 Rom or something older, so I don't have this problem anymore. Or could I hardspl and boot android with tm us stock rom. I really like android and trying to get up to putting nand android on my phone.
Thanks for all you guys help.

I can't get hardspl to run it keeps giving me an error. So, I can unistall hspl 2.08hspl. I can't do the SD card because my sd card is 16gb. So, do you know what I can do.
Thanks

are you running it as an administrator (right click, run as administrator). if you got hspl on your phone via activesync, you should be able to get it off.

You cannot run HSPL on a 3.14 ROM as the SPL is 3.03.
First find an older version of your ROM - go to the HTC website and download a 2.10 ROM using your phone's serial number (this should guarantee that you are using a correct ROM for your phone). Flash the phone with that ROM. Now the SPL will no longer be 3.03.
Run HSPL3 and select 2.08.HSPL.
Make sure that the RADIO is 2.08.50.xx or higher with a .50 (it should be mentioned in the ROM download name as like 2.08.50.14)
Now go to the NAND Andriod section, pick a ROM and carefully read the instructions.

[Q] Stuck at bootloader when trying to flash stock rom

Like the title says, im just stuck at bootloader and instead of booting to the white screen it just stays on bootloader and says "SERIAL".
Ive googled, youtubed, and searched here, and many have the same problem, but i have yet to seen a solution to this.
I have tried android and many custom roms, and now im back on original ROM and everything works great. BUT i have HSPL in my phone and i dont want it for now.
It is a very easy procedure in the guides and should not be a problem, but please how can i get my LEOIMG.nbh to boot from my memorycard?
It is formated FAT32, and i have tried redownload the stock rom and unpacked it with winrar several times, but the result is always the same.
Is there some way to go around this? I Just wanna boot from the memorycard and restore my phone.
FYI, the restore is just for warranty issues.. I just want to be able to go back just to be on the safe side..
Then after that i can try the cooked roms all days
Thanks!
What size is the microSD card? As there has been reports of problems flashing from 16GB cards.
While in bootloader mode, you can plug in the microUSB and the 'Serial' should be replaced by 'USB'. This means that you can run the flashing from the computer (just ignore the requirement for ActiveSync).
Thanks for the quick reply!
I have a 8 GB memorycard.
Just before i read your post i inserted the usbcable and the screen on my htc says "USB".
But how do i uninstall HSPL from my PC in usbmode? Use customRUU and place LEOIMG.nbh in that folder?
If you install either the HTC Stock or your mobile provider's ROM (what ever you need for warranty requirements), they will flash your phone with SPL, ROM and RADIO.
These ROMs are avaiable from your mobile provider's website or via a link in the ROM Section.
Sounds great!
So i just run the original .exe file from my PC when my HTC HD2 is in bootloader screen in USB-mode, correct?
I have alreade flashed with original rom from PC when my phone was online. But then the HSPL did not go away even though my original rom was installed.
I could use alittle help too
when i try to update it stops at 4% tried to flash other energy roms with the same issue. don't know what todo to get past 4%

use the hspl.exe program to remove hspl just like you used it to apply it. just choose a stock spl instead of the hspl.
example, regular hd2, wants to go back to o2 stock everything.
run hspl2, choose 1.66.0000
run the o2 1.72.exe rom over usb.
all done.
if the rom doesn't flash its not the correct stock rom.

At first i used HSPL 3 to install 2.08.0000 HSPL.
But if i run that file again i only have the choice 2.08.0000.
I downloaded a previous version of HSPL, and there i could choose SPL 1.42.0000 wich was my original SPL version before the flash.
Is this a correct way to do this?
I am asking again because even though i now am at the original ROM and Original SPL version the Radio and Protokoll-version differs from the versions when i bought the telephone.
radio and protocol doesn't matter. yes you've done it right. so long as its a stock rom and the spl ends 0000 then it's fine.
Ok thanks!
Then everything is ok now and i am very happy for that, so thanks for all answers!
I can also add that i took my original SD-card (2GB) and put the LEOIMG.nbh on it.
The bootsequence then started ok when holding down volumebutton and power on.
But the result was exactly the same as it was when flashing to stock SPL with HSPL2 utility.
So the booting-problem was memorycard related.. So it seems that even some 8 gb memorymodules have problems.
Just thought you should know.

Stuck in SPL 3.03.00??

Just Download the first rom availible from htc.com and install it. Mine was RUU_Leo_HTC_NLD_1.48.404.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship and after installing i used HSPL2 to go back to hspl 2.08.0000
Good luck
that didn't work for me
Pleas sir be aware that the use of HSPL on latest stock ROM 3.14 reduce your available free program memory to +/- 50MB!!
I always just use the SD card flash method. Download official ROM from HTC.com, extract it using WinRAR and then rename the .nbh file to leoimg.nbh. Copy this leoimg.nbh file to an empty microSD card and insert it into the phone. Turn off the phone, and then turn it on while holding down the volume down button. Your phone will go into the bootloader and ask you whether you want to flash the rom. Confirm this and you're good to go.
Easy, effective and pretty much failsafe. It will simply install the SPL that was included in the ROM, allowing you to re-apply HSPL or whatever you prefer.

Yes sir. previous stock ROM versions are compatible with HSPL.
And about flashing over SD downgrade your SPL version.
I have the HTC HD2 TMoUS with the most recent stock rom (3.14.5xx) but for some reason the spl is still 2.10 rather than 3.03. Does anyone know how I can get spl 3.03 so that I may run android on the phone (I have tried searching, but have not been able to find anything).

[Q] Uninstall SSPL 3.03???

Hi guys,
At the moment i have SSPL.
I want to install HSPL3 - 2.08
but i cant unstall the sspl.
when i try to install hspl, i get error, BAD SPL VERSION
to install my sspl i used the folowing steps :
1. Remove SD (and remove Application Data and Program Files folders from it using SD card reader)
2. Remove HSPL with HSPL2_RUN.exe (flash SPL 1.66.0000 with HSPL2_RUN.exe)
3. PowerOff the phone
4. Boot to bootloader (VolDown+PowerOn) and when it shows "USB" flash stock ROM by running matching RUU_Leo_S_HTC_XXX_3.14.XXX_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15 .50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe (get yours HERE or for Orange UK/FR HERE)
5. Hard Reset (when phone starts booting after step 4, remove the battery, insert it back press VolUp+VolDown and still holding both press PowerOn and follow the instructions)
6. Boot to homescreen.
7. Run SSPL_RUU.exe with Artemis v40 RUU_Signed_0409.nbh in the same folder - YOU HAVE TO BE ON HOME SCREEN, NOT BOOTLOADER (this took me 3 tries until succeded - yes - nerve wrecking, but works). If it doesn't work (hangs on black screen for more than 2min or stays at 0%) remove the battery and try again. If still doesn't work - try solutions in NOTE below.
8. Hard reset (instructions in step 5)
9. when on homescreen - softreset.
10. Insert SD
Any help?
you dont have sspl, 'sspl - soft secondary program loader' is a one shot version of 'hspl - hard/hacked secondary program loader'.
You have 'spl - secondary program loader' - stock spl.
If you followed those steps you now have spl 3.03 and so hspl will not work. You must downgrade your phone to an earlier rom/spl version. 1.66 for example. USB will be fine so long as its your correct stock rom, , any version except 3.14.

I flashed original 1.66 ROM
No w i was able to install HSPL
Thanks!!!
no worries.
Hmmmm, I have the 3.14 ROM with 3.03.000 SPL installed.
What I`m trying to do is Install NAND Android. But to do this I need HSPL 2.08.
Tried downloading one of the older stock roms (1.66) and then attemped to flash via SD and through the .exe file directly.
From the .exe file it boots to the tri color screen and then reaches the progress bar screen. However it sticks there and the errors out with a code : 294.
Through the SD method after the phone detects the .nbh file it comes back with a "28002 : Not allow" error message.
Have tried this with varoius types of Mem cards but no luck.
I then tried SSPL with 1.66 as the ROM and i got it to flash the ROM with no problems but the HSPL still sticks at 3.03. And thats expected since SSPL is like a one shot go at flashing a ROM different from your region.
Question : Since this isnt working, will a task 29 help in this case? From what I understand it formats the filesystem that holds the OS. By doing so, will I then be able to flash one of the older Roms so I can install HSPL 2.08?
Any help will be appreciated.

Mate, do you want to upgrade or downgrade? You're statement is confusing
what do you mean "locked"?
As long as you flash the CORRECT STOCK ROM, you can upgrade or downgrade.
What you have to do first is find the CORRECT STOCK ROM".
you can't try all countries version, it is dangerous.
Go to htc website and select the country where your hd2 come from, and download the stock rom using your SN.
If you can't find the CORRECT STOCK ROM, the only alternative is using gold card method.
Good luck

However, if you still fails, then the only alternative is using gold card method.

Don"t use stock ROM 3.14 if you will install/use NAND!
Stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL; and you will need HSPL for NAND.
Just install/upgrade your Radio version on your 1.66 stock ROM.

Like I mentioned before, if your attention is to use/install NA ROMND.
DON'T use stock ROM 3.14! NAND needs HSPL, and this isn't possible in combination with stock ROM 3.14!!!
Just upgrade your radio.
Yeah u should just upgrade your radio. no need to upgrade to 3.14.
I do not see the necessitiy to upgrade to 3.14 if you want to run Android NAND.
What you need to do is to start all over again.
1. Extract RUU_unsigned.nbh from stock 1.66 ROM, rename as leoimg.nbh, copy this file to the root of your SDCard.
2. Pop SDCard into device, Activate bootloader and it will load back your device to 1.66 stock condition.
3. HSPL your device again using HSPL3.
4. Upgrade your radio to whatever your liking (e.g 2.15 etc)
5. Flash any 3.14 custom ROM avaialble at this wonderful site.

Finally got an answer, so HSPL only not recommended for stock 3.14 ROM, but for custom ROM it's doesn't matter. Then we should use SSPL to flash this custom ROM right?

Finally got an answer, so HSPL only not recommended for stock 3.14 ROM, but for custom ROM it's doesn't matter. Then we should use SSPL to flash this custom ROM right?
Thanks

The only problem using SSPL is that you cant flash radio and you cant do task 29
As suggested in forums, you have to do task 29 before flashing rom in order to clean up the memory. If you use SSPL, you cant do that. So there is possibility that you will find bug(s) originating from previous rom.

I have a very big problem. Yesterday i decidet to instal NAND Androin into my HTC HD2. In first step on my 1.66 stock ROM i instaled this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6891358&postcount=1893 (HSPL3 and choose 2.08.0000). Everything flashing great but after thad i sow that i have a 2.07.51.22_2 radio version... so i decided to install 3.14 stock rom but i cant I was trying remove hspl but in boot screen i only seen "loading..." (my 2GB SD card was formated in FAT32 and i extracted file from ship but it doeosn't work). My question is what should i do to upgrade my phine to stock 3.14 ? Please help me
Sorry for my english

Firstly, 2.08.0000 is NOT hspl, it is a stock spl version. You need to select 2.08.hspl when running HSPL3. To flash a new radio there is no need to install the whole rom, just download and flash the radio. Click on the link in my signature for my radio and there are plenty of standalone radio roms there. Flash the same way as a rom (as long as you have hspl installed).
If you are wanting to go Android don't install 3.14, just do the abovementioned items. If you really do want to go stock 3.14 rom, then you can do this once hspl is installed BUT it is not recommended and it is better to use the Goldcard method.

Ow i see, thank you for your clear explanation Mas, yes when we had HSPL then we can play a lot and it's a must to use task29. My misunderstanding too, if we flash HSPL then we could flash any ROMs, so we don't need SSPL. But still HSPL was not recommended for 3.14 stock ROM. I hope my conclusion is right.
Thank You
dude u need to go to the bootloader power and vol down.. and then flash... not the usb flasher in magldr.. hit thanks if this was the problem

Thanks a lot !! Could you tell me how to instal stock 3.14 step by step ? I feel green in this topic
Stock 3.14 ROM won't be a good idea. There are many beautiful ROMs over there which give you the freedom to enjoy 576MB of RAM with proper radio versions. Stock is no good.. Be careful of what radio version you have while flashing ROMs as incompatible radio may prevent the phone from booting. Before installing android, check the compatible radio versions and install one before doing anything Check this for more info step by step http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732380
Thanks, but i want install stoc rom 3.14 and i don't know how to do it because i have spl 2.08.0000 instaled via HSPL3. Someone can help me ? I don't wanna install android or any costum rom. Please help... i need stock rom 3.14
Okay! Download the 3.14 ROM from correct HTC website for your country. Once downloaded, open with WinRAR and extract RUU_signed.nbh to any folder. Rename it to LEOIMG.nbh and copy it to the root of your memory card. Make sure your memory card is formatted with FAT32 partition method. Insert the card in your phone (while phone is switched off) and hold the 'Volume down' button. Press power button while the Vol down button is pressed. Your phone will enter bootloader and you'll be able to flash the ROM. By this method, even if you have HSPL installed, it will be overwritten by stock SPL 3.03
Happy flashing! Dont forget to backup your personal data!

Will you make your mind up. Firstly you wanted Android installed, then it was 3.14 custom or stock and now it is only 3.14 Stock ROM.
Thankfully you have the SPL of 2.08.0000, which means that HSPL has been removed.
Go to HTC's website and download the 3.14 ROM with your phone's serial number. If you are allowed to download the file, then there should be no problem in running it from your PC. If you get a 'you are not allowed to download this file', then you have to use the GoldCard method.
Whats wrong... I download from HTC site stock rom 3.14. Program found my phone and current instal version (1.66), when i click update status bar is still on 0% (after 20 minutes i desconect phone and turn on - everything works great but in 1.66 rom :/). After that i was trying updated via gold card method ( i prepared 2GB micro SD card - format in FAT32 and copy rename nbh file) but when i'm swith on my HD2 holding volume down button on the screen i can see "loading..." and nothing more

Yes a Official ROM will revert SPL but it will only do this if you flash it via SD card it will not revert HSPL if you flash it via USB.

Dear T-macgnolia,
A have flashed my device via USB under bootloader mode and I got the original spl back.
-------------------
isark, if you choose reverting OSPL via SD method, make sure that you have formated your SD card as FAT32.

I am not trying to discredit you nbee but educate you. if you flashed a official ROM via USB and had SPL and not HSPL then you must have never had HSPL in the first place as that is one of the reasons for having HSPL. HSPL stands for Hard Secondary Program Loader. The Hard means that it will not get overwritten with SPL (Secondary Program Loader) when flashing, and I quote this straight from the HSPL thread.
- This HSPL will not get overwritten when flashing a full NBH with SPL via RUU.

Hear is a link to the thread if you want to visit it. Also visit my guide I have linked in my sig to get a more complete understanding of SPL and HSPL. The reason why flashing via SD card does overwrite HSPL is you are not using a ROM update utility(RUU) you are using the HD2 itself to flash the ROM and HD2 is only programed to flash everything included in the .nbh file. When you use the ROM update utility it checks your phone first to see what set parameters/protocols matches you HD2 then flashes only what checks out and matches these parameters/protocols. Hope this helps you underrstand why I said to flash via SD card.
Cheers

Hi T-Macgnolia,
You are absolutely right, and really sorry for misunderstanding some basic facts. I have flashed more than one ROMs during last weeks. I tried to call back my remembrances, and I get in the swing of that I have re flashed original ROM with one another original ones. So in fact OSPL was rewritten with an OSPL.
My fault.
Dear isark, the right choose is SD flash as Hi T-Macgnolia said
Have a nice day and thanks for clarifying my mistakes
