the usb cover has come off - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Minor problem but my phone looks ugly! any one know how to get it back on?

Can you make a more detail question please?

Its a little fiddly but you can push the cover back on, you need to put the retaining tab in first (its idiot proof which way to put the cover on as it will only go one way) either end of the retaining tab will bend enough to get into the hole and your sorted.
Hope this helps.

Well, it depends if it broke off, or it somehow fell out, because if it's broken, your screwed, otherwise do as DABenji says.
If it broke, you might want to see if you could get it repaired on the warranty.

[Q] Dell streak warranty

Hey all, I have a Streak I bought last Christmas and ended up dropping and breaking the screen. It is still under warranty, aside from the sticker being missing on the one torx screw. Its still in mint condition physically with no scratches. All of a sudden the cameras quit working the other day. It wont connect to them, and I know its software and not a hardware issue caused by me repairing the screen. I cannot remember which screw had the sticker on it an would like to replace the phone through warranty. Can anyone tell me which screw the sticker was located on? Any other information would be helpful too, as in the type of sticker or diameter. I know it was pretty thin and white, as the torx driver when right through it with no effort. Or how hard are they to take off and put back on? Could I get the new phone and take it off fairly easily and throw it on the old one before I send it in?
u mean screw under the home plate or under the earpiece plate? if yes thn thr is no warranty sticker i just check mine.
Really? Mine had one under the home place I believe. Cant remember which screw it was exactly, think there is three. But if yours didnt have a sticker at all I wonder if Ill be alright sending it in as is?
I've replaced my screen a few times and I had no warranty stickers on the screws

A bit of plastic fell out of my charger slot / pdmi

Charging my phone earlier, nothing unusual or different, basically just using the usb wall charger like i always do. Finished charging so i unplugged it from the phone only i noticed a little piece of plastic had fallen out of the charging slot.
On inspection it looks like the plastic covers the pins, id have to assume its to protect them from being bent. The top pins still have the plastic piece there as i cant see the pins but the bottom pins are now visible, i've never seen those pins before so its definately where the plastic has come from.
I can actually put the plastic back in there but its very loose and could fall out with ease. It also pops out again if i insert the charger and unplug it ...
Question is, should i worry about this and is it fixable, i have thought about super glueing it. At the moment im extremely worried if i try to charge the phone that those pins will bend as theres nothing to really protect them now.
Also i do own the phone, bought it earlier this year from Tesco's around January time so its not even over 12 months. With that in mind i could probably walk into tesco's and get a refund or replacement. This might be my best option but i dont think tesco stock the phones anymore.
What should i do, try and fix it, ignore it, or send it back to tesco's ?
a replacement is an option, but tesco thats smooth its like someone in america getting the phone from walmart lol, If you don't wanna take it back superglue the end but DO NOT PUT IT IN YOUR PHONE TILL THE GLUE HAS DRIED, sorry thought that was needed, superglue is not conductive so wont cause any issues. good luck though.
You forgot one option, and probably the best one in your situation: contact the manufacturer. If the place you bought it from doesn't have it anymore, then you still have the manufacturer warranty and should be using that.

After some thought im thinking returning to tesco is my best option, if i went down the superglue method and it didnt work id be stuck as i couldnt return it then. Even if they dont have any replacements which is likely as it was only on offer for a short period i can get my refund and go off and buy another streak elsewhere.
Thanks for the superglue tip, i'll have to remember that for any future glueing projects . Super advice that.

This is always an option but from past experience dell are terrible, you usually end up with a replacement thats scratched and dirty. Either that or they refuse to honour the warranty and blame you forcing you to pay for the repair, i had a really tough time with them over a laptop a few years ago. Never again if i can help it.
I have had a pretty good experience with Dell exchanging my phone, but the first replacement unit was also defective. Very clean, however ;-)

Same thing happened to me and many others. It is not covered by Dell warranty, so hopefully your store will replace.
I was told by the Dell rep at their support outlet that it is a common issue, which is why Dell has moved to mini-usb. However Screen and Charge Port issues are not covered under warranty so they would not replace.
I said to the guy, so am I to throw away a 3 month old phone???
I lodged a complaint with Dell Asia and US but was shot down both times.
In the end I had to pay for an electronics guy to solder a new PDMI port (hence voiding the remaining 9 months warranty).

Out of Warranty Atrix

I sent in my Atrix a while back because of a dead spot in the digitizer. It came back with a new digitizer and seemed fine until the screen started coming up on the edges. It's almost like they didn't put the adhesive down good enough. I got tired of the screen coming up like it did (Felt spongy and annoying to use) so I got a tag from a shirt and stuck the corner of it into the mic and went all the way around until the screen was free. I put in little drops of super glue to hold the screen down, but I somehow screwed up the ribbon cable and the digitizer no longer works. I checked to see if I could send it in again but it's completely out of warranty. Is there any way I can blame it on them and get them to fix it even if it's out of warranty? Or am I just going to have to buy a digitizer and do it myself? Thanks.

Once you tried to repair it yourself your warranty was gone. Best bet is to order new parts and pay a pro to install.. unless you would like to try it yourself.

you say its 'compltely out of warranty'... are you referring to the warranty running out or the fact you've attempted self-repair?
If you mean that the warranty has run out, the repair that moto did has a seperate warranty and you could try sending it back (conveniently forgetting your bodge job).

ATT gives you 90 days or the previous warranty time, whichever is longer when you do a warranty return / repair.
if your going to attempt self repair get a digitizer with the bezel already attached, I don't want to think about scraping the digitizer off that is attached with superglue.

Phone got wet... Do I need a digitizer?

So I was on vacation about a month ago when I dropped my phone in a small puddle of water. I was in Central America so I didn't have my tools (and didn't know where to find some) to take the phone apart and put it in rice. So I put the whole phone in rice and when I got back stateside I took it apart and did the whole nine yards.
Phone has been working fine until two days ago, everything works perfectly expect the touchscreen. It is unresponsive! I've put it back in rice with all the parts removed but this time rice isn't working. It's rooted CM10 and I don't have TEP... or Sprint (I bought an LTE Tri-Fi and tether off of that and use VoIP for calling). So do you think its the LCD or just the Digitizer? Would it be easier to just replace the screen?

hold down power and vol down and boot into recovery, in there see if you can click stuff because it may just be cm10 bugging out on you. a simple rom change may do it, otherwise you either need a new digitizer or you just bumped the ribbon for it out of the plug on the motherboard in which case you just have to push it back in. if you look up a dissembler guide on the internet somewhere you will know what do to if its loose.
edit: also its definately not the lcd. lcd just displays stuff. all the touch recognition is done through the digitizer so don't blow $50 on a lcd if you dont need it haha

Yea the phone is completely taken apart as of right now. Ribbons are secure and I've booted into Recovery as you suggested and nothing. Good thing its just the digitizer that way I don't blow 50 bucks!
You can try to use the test app if you're willing to put it back together and quickly flash a stock Sense ROM. Then open up the dialer and press *#*#3424#*#* it will then launch the test app and you can test the digitizer there.
If it comes down to you having to replace it, I really hope it's not glued on to the LCD like the EVO 3D was, some people had too much trouble replacing it and had to buy the LCD/digitzer combo. Best of luck to you

Well see that's the problem, I can't even unlock the phone! All my messages and notifications are coming in and volume works. It just isn't responding to touch input. And that's what I'm afraid of, that it may be glued together.
I have a digitizer sitting on my desk because I cracked my old one. And yeah, it looks like it's glued on. If anyone knows better, please say so, I'd also like to be able to make this change, as I'm out $50 otherwise...

That blows. Yea I think I'll just go with the LCD & the Digitizer already on, that way I don't screw anything up.

[Q] Water Damaged

Hey folks,
My son dropped my phone down the loo. I put it in a tub of rice for about a week so far, it turns on, but the screen flickers on and off and doesn't react to touch. So wondered if folk had any suggestions or if they've used a repair place for this?
No it's not insured, yes I should have insured it.
Thanks in advance!
Service center is your only option, unless you are confident to buy spares and repair yourself. If you're lucky it might be only the screen needs replacing - otherwise it might be cheaper to buy a new phone.
don't attempt to repair it yourself, it's almost certain that the screen is not the only problem
