I put together a nice little Tegra boot animation using Adobe Flash. It is exported as high as it can get, that is why it is 12mb and I cannot upload it to the XDA.
DOWNLOAD HERE: http://www.mediafire.com/?3cz2o1x6131p87x
It plays at 20FPS to look a little nicer and it repeats the outer glow part. I can't remember who it was who requested this some time like a month ago, but I thought of it the other day and here it is. Enjoy

your PNG files need to be named as sequential numbers. i.e. 00001.PNG 00002.PNG etc. you can't have the "motorola nivida-xxx.png" filename type. use a program like batch file renamer to rename everything in sequence.

I think I was having the same problem at first.. Don't zip the folder containing the files up. Enter the file, then highlight all 3 files, right click, add to archive using your zip program, then set to "store" and name it bootanimation.zip. Should work after! Let me know if you have any problems with that. Looks good tho

he did do the 'store' option i think it's just his naming convention that it doesn't understand.

Awesome boot animation, how about this sound? I think it would be nice!
Of course you have to unzip the file its in ogg format and can upload it so I had to zip it...
Updated audio file since it was too low
UPDATE:
here is the atrix.ogg file in a zip to get it to work don't forget to edit the desc.txt to call it, I have the edited version just too lazy to upload since its 12 MB wont take it here, if anyone wants it pm me and I can email it
Also people with other sound ideas, give me the mp3 or wav and we can get it working for ya.

The animation or sound? The bootanimation.zip gets dropped in system/media the sound you have to edit the desc.txt to call the sound change the ext of the sound to .ogg and drop it in the /system/media too. I think I made, the volume too low. I will have to redo it .

I really liked the boot animation tonecreationz ported to the Atrix. tonecreationz original thread HERE. So, I edited it up to match the overall blue theme I'm using now, which consists mainly of greyblur and some custom-colored icons I made.
Credit goes to tonecreationz and to those he place credit towards in his own thread. All I did was change the color from green to blue/red/yellow. itsonlym3 is responsible for the sound effect.
If anyone sees anything wrong with the animation or has any suggestions, speak up. In the slim chance that I can/know how to fix it, I'll do my best.
*disclaimer: as always I make no warranty with the linked CWM zip. if you soft brick your device, that's the risk you take. worked for me.

-Added orange
4/28:
-Added Red and Yellow versions
-completely revamped animations for huge improvement in image quality. Should now be just as good as tonecreationsz' original green version.
-Added versions with sound (credit to itsonlym3)
The files linked below for download are NOT to be used with the leaked 4.5.91 Gingerbread 2.3.4 or anything newer than ATT's 1.8.3 firmware. The CWM zips are not compatible with the new version of Tenfars CWM for unlocked bootloaders (i think, i'm no dev)
If you want versions that are compatible with 4.5.91 Gingerbread 2.3.4, check out CaelanT's 2.3.4 boot animation thread found HERE.

I suppose that depends on what you want to do with it. If you want it to play with the boot animation it goes in /system/media
but to make it play you have to edit the desc.txt file that is inside the bootanimation.zip
go HERE for a general guide on how to do that.

I really like the red looks like an evil android lol Thanks! What kind of sound did you use? You should use terminator music that would be awesome!
what sound is with them? also, if you have your media volume muted then reboot does the bootanim sound play no matter what? that's the only reason i wouldn't want it if there was no way to boot w/o sounds.
there's links to with and without sound.
plus, you could just pull the sound file out of the file and/or modify the desc.txt file.

does not play through headphones. only external speaker. I still don't understand though. If it's so annoying why not just use the no-sound version?
Or do you just want the ability to use or not use the sound depending on situation?

If you have root explorer, you can always try renaming the ogg files in /system/media/ to something different or better yet, move them out to a different location when you don't want sound...
then replace or rename when you do want sound...
I don't think there is a simpler solution other than just using the version without sound...

I'd like to request an orange version... something to match the tangerine theme by nottach. Using the blue version now and really like it, but it would be nice to stick with the theme.
Thanks in advance!
Here's a cool animation I was holding on to in case I did a GingerBread theme. But I don't think I will so...
Original art is by freeny, Superb job IMHO.
Just rename to bootanimation.zip and overwrite the one in your /system/media directory. Set permissions to match original.

Sorry, without the original project file I can't do a black background. Can't simply key out the white because it would also remove the white that I want to keep. And it would be a hell of a job to roto each frame.

Aw man that sucks. This is sweet, but it's so bright white...
The animation goes well for the first turn, but when it comes back around to the front for the second time, it skips/freezes until full boot. Evo, Fresh 4.0.0.4 ROM.
I'd REALLY love for this to work right, as I've set the boot sound to Dethklok's "Go Forth and Die" (seriously, it's great with the Gingerguts), but I don't want it to look jank.
Thats really cool and it reminds of the garbage pail kids for some reason lol

could someone help me installing this on an evo im running speedy shift port and theres no boot animation under the path listed.
edit: so 1st I placed it under /system/customize/resource and it still played the stock bootanimation w/ sound
2nd I moved the spc_bootanimation to my sd card and it played just the word "android" w/ no sound. Like Decks roms boot animation.
3rd I renamed it spc_bootanimation and it played yours but w/ the annoying stock sound fx and then it started stuttering and wouldnt rotate anymore. I dont know what else to try. Im gonna stop though before i break my phone lol.

I just downloaded a new bootanimation from UOT's kitchen and extracted the animation.
I went to /system/customize/resource/ and deletede the file bootanimation.zip.
The file is a "read only" so you need permission to delete it. I the copyed the new bootanimatio.zip to the same place and restarted - and i worked.
If you don't hav access right to the fil, perhaps you actualy didn't replace the file.

When using a boot animation previewer it's laggy... something tells me when i put this on the atrix its going to be just as laggy... and 35MB?
Hi,
I like it, it's different. For those who have some other use for the free space on /system I put up a smaller version, just contains the rescaled original pics with no generated intermediate zooms. The nature of the animation is that each pic gets zoomed before displaying the next one, I tried to duplicate that in the boot animation by adding more pics.
Cheers!

wow, quick! thanks man
Np I already had it halfway done, wasn't sure how smooth it would be, trimmed it down from 525 images to 176, only one intermediate between source images. The original zoom quilt is 45 images, the second is 87, both at 800x600, I ran a script using imagemagick to zoom in and crop out a section of each pic, then used Irfranview in windows to convert to indexed in batch mode. For some reason, ImageMagick doesn't like indexed pngs on my computer, convert -colors 256 apparently means take image size and quadruple it.
Cheers!

Hi,
By using jpg, the files are half the size, what was 30MB is now 15MB. I don't see any thumbnail files in the archives, but yeah that would cause artifacts if you use windows. My phone boots fast enough I don't get to see a second run of the animation, lol. Also I add to archive using 7zip with zip as the format, store as the compression, since compression can be an issue with android and resources. Unzip on the phone can't unzip the files 7za creates, so be aware of that as well. I

Flashed ICS Passion V7 from neobuddy89. First off great rom. Awesome. I love it. But i was hoping to find out if its possible to use your own mp3 ringtones on the ICS OS instead of the stock ones that it comes with. I didn't say "media" smartass I said "media/audio/ringtones" put mp3's in that folder. Or you can put .ogg files in system/media/audio/ringtones( mp3's may work in that folder but I am not sure I haven't tried )
Then to set the ringtones go to system settings -> Sound -> Phone ringtones

the three dots are our menu button so if by some chance you don't have the three dots try hitting your menu button and see if you get that menu...
I was also trying to figure this out. I did what was suggested but it didn't come up in my list. BUT...as any compuer guy will tell you...if something's odd, start with a restart. So, I restarted my phone, and bingo, it's in the list and works beautifully!
In the list that I show in the pics I posted above right?

i went from cm7 to ics and my sounds are stored on my external card on my audio folder and i didnt even have to move them....ics showed them on the sound options right away. the full adress to folder is /emmc/audio/ XXXXXX ( 2 folders in it) notifications and ringtones. try that ...
Hmm. Does anyone know how to use custom mp3 files as ringtone on ICS Passion v10.6?
TI believe some of us were looking for was a system wide, all contact ringtone.
Solution: - use some type of root browser
Drop mp3 (or ogg) into /system/media/audio/Ringtones (or notifications)
**Reboot**
System Settings - Sound - blah, blah
*** The files you put in that folder seem to not show up until a reboot is performed. Perhaps correcting some sort of index file?

I simply had a folder on my SD named "Ringtones" and added the mp3 file there.
Now your ringtone should show up under, Settings/sound/Phone ringtone.

2. Select the widget of your preference (2x1,2x2, 2x3) from App Drawer, and take it to your homescreen
3. Tap on it
4. Select the icon as "Image form file" and select the PNG file you saved

working fine for me!
These are great! Thanks for the template, they work well
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I download the rar file and unzip it, there are three resulting files which are .psd files labeled Now Card wide, Now Card 3x2 and Now Card 2x2. I don't see any .png files to use. Also, the .psd files do not seem to be a completed card on two of them, just the pictures. What am I doing wrong?

PSD files are opened with Photoshop. It costs a lot (unless you use alternative methods). This lets you make/edit your own. I'm not sure if GIMP opens up PSD files natively but if it doesn't, I'm sure there's a plug in.

From what I can gather, the OP took the banners off of the play store and used them as the images. Then he took the icon and made it greyscale. An added note for everyone is that you need the "Roboto Regular" font to use it for the titles. You can find it in the "Fonts" folder of any ICS or JB rom.

I have photoshop, that's how I opened the files. I appreciate the explanation but it was my understanding from the OP that there were png files that could be used with Desktop Visualizer thus eliminating the need for us to make them in photoshop. Did I just misunderstand?

I believe so. You need to set them up and save them (save as) a PNG format. I will ask the OP if either he or I could put this in the main (not device specific) themes and apps section to get it more widely known. I'm sure people would start making them and we could get a pack going.

Here are some I've been messing around with for personal use, and I also added the 3 PNG's from the template that HDdarkmantis originally shared if anyone is interested. Using some on my Prime now, going to be using them more so in my car if my Nexus 7 ever gets here.

That is great work, I hope you do more. Your work has got me thinking about creating a Windows Metro Tiles like theme or Hubs using your cards.
