Hey all I'm wondering if any one else has been having trouble with their keyboard not registering certain keys. Idk what it is but God damn it its annoying. I've tried three different keyboards and I get the same problem on all. If anyone can help out or guide me in the correct direction of where I should be looking for help or something. I'm running my TB stock with Das Bamf 4b kernel at 1.4 ghz.

Which keyboards have you tried using? Have you calibrated your touchscreen (may not even be related, but give it a shot).
I've used the stock, better keyboard 7 and swift key. I calibrated my screen on the stock KB but not the others.

I've had the same problem too. It usually happens the worst while I'm charging my phone
in landscape mode my 'T' is really hard to use. i've used better keyboard, swiftkey, and smart keyboard. my 'the' always comes out as 'he' -_______-

i have noticed that too. when i charge my phone its almost like i have a resistive screen instead of a capacitive. my touch is only registered if i force my finger on it, instead of the gentle touches that it usually registers

Sometimes (about half the time now) when i try to unlock my screen the touch won't work. Some of these times (what was just occurring at first) it will unlock and then the screen will "jitter" and select random things while not responding to my touch, other times it just wont respond or do anything. Originally i thought that this was just a problem with the stock rom but i have boot strapped and flashed joker's new rom and it's still having the problem. Should i be contacting Motorola to gave them replace my phone?
Other info:
I have in pocket deselected.
RUNNING 198_7
Using widget locker, but i think it happens with out it
Launcher pro
Thanks for the help!
Edit:
So I figured out that the top left of my screen isn't level with the rest. When the problem starts to happen I turn off the screen, compress the top left corner and the problem is gone for half a day to a day. So... that's cool... at least it is still under warranty.
I found the it happened to my phone ALOT when connected via USB to the computer and after I cleaned the screen off with glass cleaner when I ran the multi-touch test for the 8-point touchmod.

I've seen it happen on my hero with bad usb cords but this is happening when not plugged in. I've also never used glass cleaner on it or the multi-touch test on the photon.

Im thinking i need to let a hold of Motorola

So I was using my phone and just set it down and it started freaking out and going into things before the screen even shut off. Should I check out the multi-touch thing to just see where my touch points are or can I do some type of calibration?

Edit: I'm guessing that I'm the only one having this problem?
Have u tried reflashing 8 point touch?

I haven't ever put 8 point touch on my phone. I could try to flash it though and see if that does anything.

I would up with a similar issue on my Evo, and I wound up having to get a new one. Not sure if the Photon is gonna be the same, but that was how my phone was sadly. Let us know if the eight point touch helps or not.
So everything looks fine on the multi-touch but i cant get the program up while my screen is freakin out so it kinda defeats the purpose. Jokers skinny 4g doesn't have 8 touch point mod correct?
Sent from my Photon 4G
No not that I know of.

So I got the multi up while it was freakin out. There was a point toward the top of the screen (the edge of the touch "disc" was touching the edge of the screen) that stayed where it was but just jittered left to right. The really weird part is that my second touch point could not go above it. This has to be a manufacturer flaw as far as I'm concerned so when I have time I'm going to call Motorola.

Its an issue with charging. Just unplug it if it gets annoyingly useless

I would agree as I've seen something similar with my Heroc. The problem is it happens all the time when it's unplugged... the micro USB could be haunted with an evil ghost charger... I'm not sure what the exercisium protcol is for that.

I'm living the new HC upgrade, but since then I've encountered this issue when taking notes with the stock Notes app. For some reason the app seems to sense the pen and makes marks even before it touches the screen; almost like it's super sensitive. Has anyone encountered this before? Very weird... Never happened under GB.

I got this issue when I flashed one of LeeDroid's roms; a later update fixed it. It made marks even hovering a full centimeter away from the screen, right?
Possibly cache-related?
This happened to me once. I can't remember if it was on GB or HC. Anyway, I took out the battery, then reinstalled it and it worked fine after that.

I think it has to do with the battery dying. I have two pens and when I switched the batteries whichever one with the old battery in it had this erratic behavior. taking the battery out and putting it back in also helped as the pen with the old battery started working again when I went to check it later on. but I would consider having a backup battery in case this remedy becomes no longer effective
Well I tried removing the battery, and putting the back and I still have the same issue and now I see it appearing in other apps. Guess I need to put my hands on replacement batteries somewhere

That issue happened to me too. It is definitely not app specific and caused by the pen itself. Removing/replacing battery and tip didn't fix the issue for me. What I have noticed through is if I use the pen with buttons "facing up" (buttons under index finger), I don't get that "ink spill", so I don't have the issue anymore.

I think I solved the prob.
It's a kind of loose connection...
Unscrew the Top of the pen (very tight)
In the pen you'll see a small golden spring which should disconnect an electrical contact as long as the pen isn't pressed on display. This spring seems to be too weak in some cases and doesn't separate correctly.
I made the spring stronger by grabbing the top end of it and turning anticlockwise very carefully.
Now a little more pressure is needed for the pen to act and it works perfect for me!

How did you unscrew the top of pen? It is VERY VERY tight....

Hello,
All of a sudden last night the capacitive buttons (4 buttons on bottom of screen) stopped working. They light up as normal, but when I press them nothing happens. I've tried flashing many different ROMs, including old stable nandroids I had.
The weird thing is that after leaving it powered off for about 4 hours, upon boot up the buttons worked for a few minutes. Then they stopped working again, and they haven't worked since.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Does the touch screen still work? Try downloading the touch test app and run your finger from the middle of the screen down along the buttons to see if it still registers as a touch.
Also, have you tried flashing the stock ruu yet? I ran into a problem where my touchscreen completely stopped working, and the only way I was able to fix it was by flashing stock again.
The touch screen works perfectly, it's only the buttons on bottom (home, menu, back, search) that don't work.
More interesting... it seems that the buttons only work when it is particularly cold. They quickly stop working after using the phone for any duration of time tho.
How do I flash the stock RUU? I'm not hboot 1.5 btw, got my E3D at release.
Thanks
I decided to order a new digitizer. Hopefully that fixes the problem.
Sent from my fingers.
I installed the new digitizer. Very difficult. More issues now tho:
Right after installing I tried the "touch test" app and everything seemed to be fine. A few minutes later it reverted to being problematic. There are a couple horizontal strips where touch doesn't register. If I drag my finger from the top of the screen to the bottom, the registered touch skips a couple time.
Any idea what is the problem, and how to fix it? Thanks

While freezing some bloatware I came across a NFC app installed on the system. Its a pretty small app but thought that was pretty interesting. Now to monkey around and try and figure out how to launch it.
On a seperate note the s pen sucks so far. Way off center. I used an international one a few days ago and it was spot on. What could be different?
How do you freeze apps? im kinda a noob. anyway i noticed the s pen is off. And i can't find any calibration.
I have an issue with the spen as well.its off buy 1/8 of an inch. I don't see where to calibrated it.

I agree, I was playing with the s-pen in the memo program and was disappointed that it's not accurate. In my case, when looking at the grid and tapping the screen with the s-pen, the resulting mark is almost a full square higher than where I actually tap. I was poking around the menus to find a calibration tool for it but didn't see anything.
Is it accurate for you guys or also off?

I use an app called root uninstaller. It allows you to freeze or uninstall any app so you do need to be very careful.
Sorry this is about the pen calibration posts a couple of posts up. Forgot to hit quote...
I had this problem until I switched to left-handed mode somewhere in the pen settings (I'm a lefty). Don't know if that will help you but made a huge difference for me.

During a call my screen turns off like normal but just recently when it turns off, I can't turn it back on even when pressing the power or home button. There are rare occasions where even when I'm not on the phone, I can't turn the screen on.. It always results in a battery pull then it works fine again. My phone was normal and working perfectly and I haven't done any mods.. Kinda weird, anyone with input on this?
I'm rooted running version 2 Jbomb, 2.3 beastmode kernel, mj4. Could it maybe be these apps that cause this, lux, gravity screen, light flow.. Those are the 3 main apps that are always running.

Sounds like you may have some gremlins. I would do a clean install of your ROM and install those 3 apps 1 at a time checking for the problem to repeat. Joshes ROMs are typically very clean. Could be the Beastmode kernel also.

Nope. Most likely dirt in your proximity sensor. Try blowing real hard in the ear piece or use one if those air cans. Mine does the same and it sounds like a lot of people have the same issue
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I can guarantee it's. Gravity Screen. I use both Lux and Gravity Screen and I'm on a Nexus 4. Google brought me here. I was hoping I'd find something in the gravity screen thread but search isn't picking anyone talking about it.
fwiw I only use it for the Keep Screen On by motion so any the other features are unchecked.
I also use an app called screebl which is more reliable and has been around much longer but I flip between the two.
Screebl also got completely rewritten recently so I'm thinking it's probably the more reliable of the two since it's been around longer.
Aside from that I'm thinking it might be the Running During Call checkbox since it's the only other checkbox checked.
I'd disabled the other settings by moving the sliders to zero (per the developer) and unchecking everything but the 2 checkboxes for keeping screen on by motion-left its slider at 50.
...so either uncheck that ringer checkbox. If that doesn't work it's a bug with the app.
It's inherent to almost any Samsung phone. My SII did it. My S4 did it. My Note 3 does it.
It has to do with the proximity sensor changing too quickly.

Sometimes it cuts both ways, with the rare occasion of the screen not waking up when a call comes in. If you're running deep sleep app, sometimes that can be the culprit. I still use it, though.
