[Q] Unlimited Data? (APN) - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I only have a the 2gb a monthly plan. If i switch the apn i connect to, for example verizon or tmobile, i can still connect to the internet. Will the data used on verizon and tmobile apn add into my 2gb a month?

Yes.

It will use the data from the current sim card. So if you use T-Mobile it wont take from your Att 2gb package. All you do is find the correct carrier/region apn.

Im confuses a little.explain

Slow data on US T mobile

I put a friends sim card from t mobile into my phone and was only able to get 2g data. Does the international version of this phone get better speeds than that with different settings or something? Sorry if this has been posted already, I have not been able to find anything.

The phone does not have USA T-mobile 3/4g gsm bands. For 3/4G speeds you would need AT&T.I don't get more than mbs1 down

Vibrant on AT&T GO phone Unlimited plan!

I'm getting a used Vibrant and i was planning on using it on AT&T, but since i have a go phone i was wondering if i could switch to the unlimited plan and get unlimited DATA since its not a AT&T branded phone? Thank you
Hoping someone could help me, thanks
I highly don't recommend this. You'd have to unlock your vibrant to even work with at&t, but even then, this doesn't sound like a good idea. Maybe try a captivate?

By the way, what are you asking? Non-at&t phones have nothing to do with the plan...

Actually, a non-AT&T phone has EVERYTHING to do with getting data. If you use an AT&T Android(like the Captivate), they won't let you access data. Data is blocked for AT&T smartphones on the $50 unlimited GoPhone plan.
So, if you want data on the $50 unlimited plan, you MUST use a non-AT&T phone. The Vibrant is a good choice. It supports the AT&T 3G bands.

just go with net10 or straighttalk...at&t bands, and unlimited everything for approx $45 a month.
I've bounced my vibrant around different at&t mvno's for a couple years now with no problems (short of the mvno's themselves...service/data has been stellar).
been with net10 for a few months now, and so far they've been the easiest and most professional mvno to deal with...their unlimited plan is actualIy better than their parent at&t's for regional use imo....highly recommend them if you are in an area with crappy tmo coverage (like me), or are just tired of tmo.

AT&T Sim with 3G doesn't work on GS3?

Hello I been using a iPhone 3gs with unlimited data plan 3g I guess. it's a corporate line. I had them activate a new microsim so I can use the AT&T GS3. I power cycle it a few times but doesn't have any data connection? is there anyway to make it work even at 3g? my phone is rooted only.
please help!!! thanks...
You need to put in the access point settings. I can't remember where but look for settings for wap.cingular online.
Call att and switch your plan to an lte data plan.

Yeah. You need your account provisioned for lte. Call att. Its free.

Yes, call ATT and have your account properly provisioned for LTE. Your account may still indicate you are on an iPhone plan, which I think ATT treats differently on their end.
It's corporate line so i can't modify anything just take what they give me!

Last I checked, the net10 plan for att sim card is actually 1.5 gigs. I am using net10 as well and will be switching to straight talk tomorrow. They use the same primary company but straight talk offers 3 gig for the same price and plan.

Out of curiosity I bought my phone outright is it pretty easy to switch back and fourth? I work all over the US and sometimes att has awesome service and Verizon doesn't have anything and vice versa. Is it as easy as just switching Sims? I'm new to all of this but would like to be able to easy switch to the better network. Thanks!

Yeah, super simple. The only thing you need when switching out the sim is to switch your APN file. Net10 uses a different APN setting then Straght talk. Not much different, but would highly recommend switching it just to be sure. Just add both into your APN settings and then just switch between them when switching sims.

That's great news! I am literally in the process of finding a good priced note 3 for my brother and have only been looking for AT&T and T-mobile models because I want him to receive LTE on net10. This should make it much easier since I can add verizon phones to the mix. What APN settings are used and did you use a third party program to edit the APN or directly in the network settings? Thanks Moe!

Apn: tfdata
mmsc: http://mms-tf.net
Mms proxy: mms3.tracfone.com
Mms port: 80
You can add a new apn without any app make sure u buy the att sim card and not the tmobile you can a starter kit at radio shack or target .. it comes with 3 sim cards a nano and 2 micro .. one of the micro is a att sim card
I don't understand this. How is it LTE is working on net10 but not on ST? Those apn's you give are for St. What are net10's apn settings? Maybe I can get my damn LTE to work....lol
I bought the straight talk sim kit and tried the ATT sim in my phone.
It would not get any signal at all, so I used the T-mobile SIM (as I have tried an actual T-mobile sim before and it worked)
I get LTE service where I live, but t-mobile's coverage is sketchy (especially coming from Verizon)

The APN I am using on straight talk/t-mobile is as follows:
APN: wap.tracfone
Port: 8080

True, but your $29 plan is very limited.
1,200 Minutes
3,000 Text/Picture Messages*
500 MB of Data 4G LTE Speeds
We pay $100 for 5 lines w/ Cricket Wirless (owned & operated by AT&T). Each lines has:
Unlimited minutes
Unlimited text/picture messages
2500 of Data 4G LTE (throttled at 8mbps), if you go over 2.5GB, it's throttled down to 128kbps.
We use Verizon S4, S5, Note 3, Note 4, and Note Edge phones. We connect to band 4 LTE on AT&T's network. Been experimenting with enabling additional LTE bands on our Verizon phones via the instructions in these threads, but I haven't been able to verify whether the changes I've made works. Not sure what AT&T LTE bands are available in our area.

So it looks like any AT&T variant like Net10, H20, etc will work.

Not any but most. Cricket Wireless for example will not work. I don't have a list unfortunately.
I believe the deciding factor has to do with if the carrier uses the AT&T network or their own. A carrier can still use AT&T towers without actually using the AT&T network. It's confusing ...

Can you explain the steps? Did you have to register your Net10 SIM card first?
I used to use NET10, but the line it's not active any more. However, when I put the SIM into my phone, AT&T network is reported and only emergency calls are allowed. I checked the update through a WiFi and could download and run the update. Thereafter I can use it with T-Mobile and Cricket. Though Cricket uses AT&T network, you cannot get the update through them. The network is reported as cricket instead of AT&T, maybe that's why.
