[Q] Preparing a rooted Atrix to be sent in - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Atrix is running 1.57, is rooted with Gingerbreak, deodexed with Adeo, and has sideloading enabled with Gladenable. The back camera has stopped working, so I'm planning on sending it in to Motorola under warranty. I'd just like to know everything I need to do so that it will pass as a stock phone when inspected.
I plan on flashing the retail 1.26 with RSD Lite. Is there anything else I should do? Is there anything that may tip them off and void my warranty?

RSD to 1.2.6 and flash both updates OTA

Don't even need to update. Just flash 4.1.26.

[Q] 1.5.7 and 1.8.3 SBF

These are actually two questions for when 1.8.3 comes out, taking into account that once installed you cannot downgrade to 1.2.6 or 1.5.7.
1. Is there a reliable 1.5.7 SBF out there? What happens when I soft-brick my phone and need to run RSDLite? I know I can install 1.2.6 but I won't be able to update unless from System Update I download in which case I'll get 1.8.3 for good.
2. What if I decided to upgrade 1.8.3. How will I be able to reflash using RSDLite? Is my only choice to wait until someone comes up with a leaked 1.8.3 SBF?
Thanks
1.8.3 sbf is already out there
if you flash back to the sbf do you lose all your root priviliges?
Yes but just use gingerbreak to re-root. You need an external sd, easy as pie.

4.5.91 Update

Hello Atrix users! I recently just received this phone about a week ago and have rooted, unlocked the bootloader and also flashed the cwm. Now, whenever I try to update via OTA or sd card I get an error stating that the update has failed. I'm very new to Android phones and I was wondering what the procedure for updating would be? BTW I'm on 1.8.3
Thanks a lot
first of all i dont think your suppose to rsd or ota after you have unlocked the BL you have to flash GB through moto-fastboot or fastboot when u have GB on your external SD and run the commands through a command window, GOOGLE IS YOUR FRIEND and so is XDA just a do a search and you should find wat your looking for,
wat i have done is i was already on 1.8.3 and unlocked the BL, but i forgot to root the phone, and i couldnt root idk why, so i had to use the aroot method(do quick search on it) which had me rsd back to 1.2.6 then reboot, after that the words UNLOCKED where gone, so i think rsd back to 1.2.6 either took the unlock away or just got rid of the words and BL was still unlocked idk, but any way did a wi-fi ota update to 1.5.7 than ran afterupdate.bat and it retained the root, then just ran the unlock again with rsd rebooted and the words unlocked were back, but im not on 1.8.3, idk if i should try to ota to it, or rsd back to the beginning which is 1.2.6 and just ota all the way to the offical newest update of gingerbread then unlock the bl again and do the preinstall root method, thats where im stuck at,
That seems like a ton of work just for the OTA. I unlocked my boot loader and flash the cherry blur rom (v.1.4) this was the easiest way I have found to get 2.3.3 on my phone and without blur over taking the interface.

from wat i have read you should be good with wat ever u do with rsd or flashing back to a stock rom AS LONG AS YOU HAVENT UPDATED TO THE NEWEST OTA UPDATE SENT TO YOU OTA BUT IF YOU HAVE ACCEPTED THE OTA UPDATE YOU WILL HARD BRICK YOUR PHONE IF U TRY FLASHING BACK TO A STOCK LIKE 1.2.6 i think that is how it goes from wat i have read

Ota flash..

I rooted and flashed GladiAtrix and VividLime theme. How.exactly can I go about flashing my phone to the GB OTA update? I do not want to unlock and end up getting a hardbrick.

Unlock or do it ota. Only choices.
I voided my warranty.

The retail OTA .SBF can be obtained here---> http://www.filesonic.com/file/1507329091/1FF-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011.sbf.gz
You will only get a hardbrick if you try to flash back to an older build using RSD after you have used the OTA 2.3.4. sbf
Not a big deal, im on the OTA with unlocked bootloader and I have flashed every rom that has come out. Once you RSD to 2.3.4 you might as well delete RSD. No reason you should need it. I recommend unlocking your bootloader before you take the leap to the OTA. Its way easier before the OTA update. If your already on the OTA 2.3.4 you can still use RSD to unlock your bootloader but thats it. It will give you a softbrick but its easily recovered.

[Q] Atrix 4g At&t bl unlocked, flash 4.5.91 SBF question

Hello to all
I receive an atrix 4g locked to at&t usa. I unlocked with a code, after i unlock the BL.
I install cwm and romracer and flash CM7(2.3.6) rom from sd.
After i flash Darkside(2.3.5) rom. Now i want to return back to stock.
I have some small problems, the soft keys light is very dimm and the wifi signal is very low compared with my previous iphone 4.
The question is: is it safe to flash 4.5.91(2.3.4) stock sbf with rsd?
I know that the other option are fruitcakes but i just want to know if i can flash this vers with rsd.
System version: 4.5.133.mb860.att.en.us
Android version 2.3.5
Baseband: N_01.77.30P
I read many threads about but i'm still in the "fog". I know that the answer is somewere on the forum and sorry for opening another thread.
Thanks a lot for understanding.
While it's not recommended to use RSDlite after unlocking the bootloader, it will work as long as you only use the 4.5.91 GB2.3.4 SBF (signed). I have done it twice but at my own risk of course.
If you need to return to stock you can flash the fruitcakes, which are stock files. This method is definitely recommended over sbf.

Will flashing the SBF via RSD re-lock the bootloader? I need to take my phone in for a warranty swap (hardware issue) and don't want them to know I unlocked the phone.
It will hide the "unlocked" text during boot but it does not actually re-lock the bootloader. But when you think about it, even though they never intended for the end user to unlock the phone (hence the encrypted/locked bootloader), they still put the warning in if/when anyone unlocked the bootloader. It's there for a reason but I doubt they will find out.

So yeah I was impatient and tried to flash it without waiting for a reply. It kept failing and then all I would get on my phone was "Failed to boot 4 Starting RSD Protocol".
I ended up having to re-flash pudding, which was an adventure in itself (upgrading RSD, rebooting computer, trying different USB ports & cables before it would finally take). I think I will just take it in tomorrow even with it saying "Unlocked" and see if they will swap it out. I'm having touch screen issues with intermittent dead spots and ghost touches.
Did you try the stock SBF with the same combination of port and cable as you did when you successfully flashed pudding? I've heard those two factors can cause a bad flash in the past. I've read that a back port on the computer is recommended for sufficient power and using the actual OEM cable the phone came with is highly recommended as well.
Oh well, hope you get it swapped out, the people at the AT&T stores (if that's where you got it) usually don't pay no mind to that anyways.

Hi,
I do have the same kind of query. I have AT&T Motorola Atrix 4G. I unlocked SIM, unlocked BL, rooted and installed CWM recovery, De-dexed and Webtop over HDMI hacked. I am still on AT&T Stock ROM 2.3.4 / Build # 4.5.91
I am facing random reboot problem while using 3G data service. I want to re-flash Stock 2.3.4 ROM. As per your reply in this thread I can only do this by flashing Fruitcakes as I have unlocked BL ... right? But in this link I am bit confused which file to download and flash amongst 2.3.4 / 2.3.5 att 4.5.133 / ATT 4.5.140 - 2.3.6? Also, after flashing a fruitcake can I still flash a custom ROM later on and at any point of time revert back to stock?
Thanks so much.

If you want to go back to stock, as in the last "Official" build released by Motorola, then you want the 2.3.4 build. And as long as you use the fruitcakes you can go back to a custom rom at any time.

Thanks for your early reply ... Just one thing more I wanna ask that if I flash ATT 4.5.140 - 2.3.6 fruitcake, then can I flash ATT 2.3.4 - 4.5.91 over it? Is the brick warning for going back to stock ATT ROM only after having BL unlocked?
Thanks for your help

Yes, you can flash 2.3.4 fruitcake over a 2.3.6 fruitcake. Just make sure to do the "wipes" (clear data/cache/factory reset/fastboot wipe/etc).
As far as I understand, the fruitcakes will not brick your device, as long as you follow the directions. The risk for bricking applies to using an SBF file and RSDlite.

Problem with New atrix 4g 4.5.141

Hi,
I have a new AT&T atrix 4g.
I unlocked the bootloader and found out that i have the famous wifi error problem.
I want to return the phone to the seller but would like to remove the unlocked text from the startup.
I read in the forum about hard brick during flashing 4.5.141 sbf. So im afraid of doing so.
I have no experience in flashing/rooting/etc... the only thing i did was unlock the bootloader with the automatic script. I still have the original at&t os.
Here is all my phone details:
4.5.141.BM860.ATT.en.US
android 2.3.6
kernel 2.6.32.9
build
4.5.141
I'd be happy if someone could help me out here...
I have also atrix 4g ...I have also unlocked the bootloader for rooting the mobile ...
I did this to my own Motorola Atrix 4g running rom: HB 2.3.4 oc 1.3ghz ext4 with the newest cwm installed
***i take no responsibility if this messes up your phone. I just did it to mine tonight before the replacement arives and wanted to help anyone else worried about being charged $399 for unlocking our bootloader
1) you need to download
//www35.megaupload.com/files/70b7d352e9514672c426f9dda58d3f6e/AUTOMATIC_UNLOCK_V4.2.zip
just incase something goes wrong you can unbrick it
2) RSD lite 5.3.1
//crackflashers.com/b16/Atrix/RSDLite5.3.1.msi
3) Newest moto update 2.3.4
//gitbrew.org/~dasmoover/android/atrix/1FF-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011.sbf.gz
boot into rsd mode and flash the official update using rsd lite, it will stop at 100% but never finish. once you see the at&t logo you can unplug if it takes forever and just wait for it to load.
after you will no longer have cwm or the "unlocked" text at boot, but all your data will still be on the phone so dont forget to wipe after.
***link #1 is only if you have problems booting after using rsd lite (i didnt need it)
Hi,
What you are writing is correct for 2.3.4. I have the a 2.3.6 and 4.5.141.
I know this worked for 4.5.91 But im afraid that on my version it won't work...
Anyone?
