[Q] Touchscreen bug or just a slow phone? - Optimus One, P500, V General

What is a conclusive test to check for the 'touchscreen bug'? I mean, the P500 can be sluggish at times but how can I tell if it's because of the processor or if it's because of a bug that can be fixed? Thanks!

If your phone is stock most likely it is the bug.

It's both.

it is a little of both but mostly the touch screen bug I suggest flashing a new rom if you want to see real performance boost

[Q] Cm7 Vs Bionix 1.3.1

Well I like both roms and have used both wat do u think of them tell me advantages and disadvantages
I'm sorry, you've tried both... you know the pros/cons....
CM7... pros, everything. Cons, battery/gps
How bad is the battery an used it for short time and it was on charger
It's worst than stock... it's not horrendous, like it used to be... the new kernel has really helped battery, but it is worse than stock. It's worth it to have the options CM7 brings.
No GPS was a deal breaker for me, but I said F it.
When I tried it I could not turn it off do u have turn off problem were u can't turn it off unless battery is out to
Only when connected to the usb cable though right?
on cm you get about 10 hrs of battery life, and no GPS, there is Voodoo sound and color and the theme chooser.
I dont use TW roms so I cant say anything about them
Both it won't shut off its weird

Yea I know there is sound and color will there be a lag fix

what for? there's no need in cm7..
Is the new version solid enough to run as a daily driver? I ran it about a month ago for a week, but came back due to lots of instability issues.
there is none but it will become even faster and I love speed so I hope so

[Q] Glitch 11.1 Question

I flashed the Glitch kernel...
this where I'm still a learning n00b...
I get the Glitch graphic when the phone is powering on but how do I know if this kernel is FULLY working? Or is it?
If you get the glitch boot animation and your phone is properly running...odds are its installed fine, but you should go and grab voltage control from the market so you can overclock and under volt to gain the most from this kernel.
Voltage control will also verify whether or not you have the glitch kernel since it doesn't work with stock kernels.
As side note I also recommend grabbing cpu spy (also in market) to see what speeds your processor is running at.

well you're seeing the glitch image, so it is working. I can't remember if the lagfix is enabled by default, if so, then you really do nothing. If not, then enable it with clockworkmod.
What I usually do is download Quadrant from the market and run a benchmark. If lagfix is not enabled your score should be around 850ish, if it is enabled, you should get 1500ish score.
Hope this helps... which rom are you using? and how do you find it?

MTD doesn't use lagfix. Which the glitch kernel for vzw fascinate is only to be used on, mtd roms.

I have CM7. I get the Nightlies daily.

Yeah it isn't voodoo lagfix, just voodoo sound and color. MTD runs better than voodoo ext4.
If you get the glitch boot logo then it worked, you're on glitch. To get the most out of it download Voltage Control and Voodoo Control from the market, voltage control lets you control the CPU and voltages to save battery and get performance customizations while voodoo control gives you some cool options with sound to enhance the quality of music and color to make the screen look however you want.
Now I hit over 2,000. I have no idea what it means, lol.

It a benchmark.. quadrant runs a series of tests.. i.e. memory read/write speeds, cpu, graphics, etc.. the it gices a score on each test, combines them, and compares them with other phone models.
I think I'm beginning to understand.
I went to the Voltage Control and jacked it up to 1700mhz and this phone basically flies out of my hand, and the battery life basically dies. So I lowered it.

If you can do that without the phone messing up, you're on the right leakage. lol
The new glitch 12 release has some recommended setting you can try out.

It's still beta, right? I want to wait until it's stable. Isn't that the best idea?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
No, beta doesn't mean "it isn't ready for people to use" but just that it isn't fully 110% stable and still might have some bugs. It'll probably never be "stable" just because of the spotty hardware and other issues, but I've been on glitch since it came out and it has been perfectly stable. If you wait for an officially stable release you'll likely never get to experience the awesomeness that is Glitch.
v12, like v11, has been rock solid for me as well.

Start with high and with your way down in leakage and see which is the most stable or can handle the most overclocking...all phones are different and handle leakage values differently but i'm pretty sure that low leakage is the most efficient and generates the least amount of heat but some phones will preform the best and be the most stable on medium or high..experimentation is probably the best answer

Hey!! Im running wannamlite latest rom with yank-s laatest kernel and just from curiosity I ran a benchmark test with Antutu, and my score was horrible, around 9800...and i saw that the gs3 has over 12-13000 ...what is my problem?

Benchmarks are unreliable ..
You have a custom rom and a custom kernel .
So why are you not asking the question in the relevant threads ???
jje
I never trusted benchmarks, but this one is so damn low.
Because I can ask almost everything I want in this thread. In rom/kernel thread just a part of the users answers, here a lot more people are watching so I might have extra chances xD.
Don't worry about benchmarks. Add long as real feel feels fast and not laggy then everything should be good
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
But it does!Whatever rom/kernel I use, after like 2-3 days of use it becomes laggy.
I don't have more than 30 apps installed :-/
Last time I benchmarked I hit 17,000
International S III 16GB / CM10.1 / Gokhan's SK
Daft I know but do you have power saving on?

nope,no power saving on.

Ok there are still other things you can do. Maybe something is eating your cpu. Try using cpuspy or setcpu to see what clocks your using. If its at the highest clock all the time that could indicate a cpu hog.
See what processes are using those high clocks with top or another program run on the phone.
Most important though is to see what is actualy causing the low score, which part of the benchmark is causing low scores. Maybe IO or memory performance, cpu might be fine.

[Q] Best kernel for underclocking

Which kernel is the best to use for underclocking my s3, by best i mean one which has tje least chance if sending my phone into bootloop or bricking it?
Why underclock?

All I have to say is: ©®™....
Bye-bye!
R: [Q] Best kernel for underclocking
i have no idea why you would buy a high end phone to underclock....i gues u just wanna test it and see how low it can go before crashing(ur lucky cpu master has the option not to set cpu at startup).
My guess is...it will crash easily ciz touchwiz requires some perfornance to run smoothly.
Anyways i would guess the best for underclocking is also the best for overclocking...my kernel is syiah...try it.
If u f**k up something...u can still get the same low-end feeling of your underclocked s3 on a windows phone
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
It really doesn't matter what kernel you use to under clock....1.2GHz is 1.2GHz.....regardless off the kernel, likewise, if you set voltages, it doesn't really matter what you do it with, add long as the kernel is capable of oc/uc.
I suggest doing some research before you start messing with stuff you don't understand

Buy a cheap Chinese s3 copy no need to underclock

I guess i phrased the question wrongly, my phone heats up very quickly and the battery runs out real fast, so i thought maybe i should underclock/undervolt... or should i just buy a new battery?

Something is causing that problem, most likely an app or the media scanner playing up, you need to eliminate all those things before you start looking at kernel side fixes

Firstly have you tried different roms and or kernels?
What kind of temperatures are you reaching?

R: [Q] Best kernel for underclocking
Yeah that sort of problem is caused by instability not overclock. Ive got my s3 overoverclocked(more than samsung's stock overclockment XD) and i dont get any heating.
Like the other dude said it's a problem within the system options...wil be difficult to find unless u installed something weird recently...
Only way is flash new rom and more stable/different kernel.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Try Boeffla Kernel, best one IMO. Easy to use and very customizable.
But if your phone gets hot for no reason you should have it repaired. Mine had a similar issue, it heated until reboot. Sent it to be repaired, according to samsung it was a motherboard issue.
Thread closed as its a best kernel thread.

[Q] Vibrant Running Slower on SuperNexus 2.0 Build 4 Update 2

Hey, I recently installed this rom and notice a significant decrease in speed. I thought it was just because my daily driver is an HTC One that it felt slow. Hey SoloBadguy. Try flashing this on your girlfriend's phone... http://db.tt/60xH94yV. The flashable .zip adds some experimental performance tweaks to the build.prop. I've been using them for quite some time and haven't had any problems. If anything, they've certainly seem to help. Anyhow, hope that helps.
