I have been doing a little research and wanna give streakdroid v2 a go.. i have been looking for links but ones i have found are dead?
I am new to this and have not customised my streak or any phone before how easy is it???
any help would be great
many thanx
DJ Steve's download links worked for me, here is the link to the release post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1091236
It's fairly easy to get going, use this thread it is great for newbies:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776883
its a pdf by Radddogg that walks you through everything you need to know on your streak, I highly recommend.
PS, while its up to you, you might want to try 1.9 first, seems to me to be a bit more stable which could be good if your new, but thats just my 2 cents.
If you've never done this you definitely don't want to use StreakDroid 2.0.
Go for Simple Streak which is close to custom or use StreakDroid 1.9.0
Streakdroid 2.3 Beta2 (BB: GAUSB1A140314-EU)
I flashed this ROM coming from Fards. After flashing the Beta2 ROM i also experienced issues that was mentioned in the [ROM] StreakDroid 2.3 (gingerstreaks much nicer younger sister) thread. In first flash battery lasted for about 6-7 hrs (that was from 100%-dropped to 1%). Got the following details on my phone.
BB:Unknown
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-perf
OEM: streakdroid2_3b2
Build: 102588
I used to flashed the ROM several times. Install Dell Stage APKs and GB_Streak5v01-1.zip then i noticed that the drop of battery charge was becoming smoother and end up to phone details below.
BB:GAUSB1AS140314-EU
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-perf
OEM: streakdroid2_3b2
Build: 102588
Is it normal?
I now have this details:
BB:unknown
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-perf
OEM: streakdroid2_3b2
Build: 102588
I have another issue on my new Streakdroid 2.3 beta 2, video on my youtube was not as good as it was when I am still using a stock rom 2.2.2, I am aware that it is a WIP rom but is there anyone who also experience the same issue, video in sd2.3b2 is not in high quality and not occupying the entire screen....

Ok gonna try what you've done.
I have some questions about 2.3 too. I've got a lot of experience of installing different roms. The streakdroid's kernel fro 1.6 to 1.9 made my phone buggy and the reason was somewhere in phones' memory. I had no such problems with SimpleStreak 1.3 beta 4, but I couldn't run Teamviewer and had problems with slow remoteability (lags when fast remoting lists of albums in PowerAmp and photos in gallery).
---------- Post added at 07:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:00 PM ----------
And now about Streakdroid 2.3. First I had so bug bunch of problems that think it doesn't worth to be used. But I've read that practically all problems are with faulty installation of the firmware and followed steps from post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17245130&highlight=bug#post17245130 .
At first phone worked smoothly and I thought that the problems has gone. But that was a mistake. Firstly I had noticed that one problem that is only come with Streakdroid 2.3 - the lag when playing music in Poweramp whatever the buffer is - didn't dissapeared. Teamviewer started to not to work suddenly. Lists suddenly began to freeze while remote. The touchscreen began unresponsive for a couple of seconds when I was playing while the game continues to run smoothly.
Can you give me any advice me anyhow?

Just take note that it is still a work in progress. So some of our apps may not work in this beta version. But we can still find some solutions by reading forums. In my situation i was not able to run Need for Speed Shift and still searching for any possible solutions in every forums that i think relevant to my case.
PS: re-flashing the ROM may solve "SOME ISSUES"

i am aware that it was already asked several times not only in xda forums but also in forums at modaco i am expecting to have an "unknown" baseband but there is one odd result after i re-flashed the ROM i got this baseband GAUSB1AS140314-EU but now everything seems to be normal. the rom is pretty stable and of course "unknown" baseband.

I am currently 1.6.0 and I love it. the only problem I have is that a couple of games won't install any more. I tried 1.6.1 but it went nuts with constant FC. But I didn't do a factory reset on it before I install it. I read on a couple of forums that the rom does work better if you do this. It did for me too. So I wonder if I should try a higher streakdroid rom for better result.
My question is; what is the best streakdroid rom? Is the highest one the best one or the more experimental one?
Each one brings new fixes and sometimes new issues. I'm using 1.7.0 and love it. I did a refash to stock 309 then upgraded to 318 then 1.7.0 before in did any configuration. Zero issues for me I'm not using the perfmod btw
Dell Streak powered by StreakDroid 1.7.0
I upgraded from the stock 1.6 to Steve's 1.6.0 rom a few weeks ago and I couldn't be happier. It's such a massive improvement that it was worth it to spend a few days reading about it first and risk bricking my phone to install it.
Since then, however, I try to keep up to date with the newer versions and there are so many people with issues like the boot loops, instability, FCs, lost wifi, etc. that I keep asking myself if it's worth it to upgrade. I don't want to spend hours reinstalling everything as well. This is a 400$ device after all, and thechnically it's not under warranty anymore so is the reward really worth the potential risks?
Can anybody share their impressions with 1.6.1 and 1.7.0 versus 1.6.0?
Thanks Archeob, you worded it better than my what I was trying to say. I love 1.6 too. I tried the 1.6.1 but it went crazy with FC's. But maybe again because I didn't do the factory reset.
So a a list of con's and pro's per rom would be great if available?

why not just do a nandroid backup, and then flash the roms for yourself?
I did that thanks. I am now on 1.7 and some of the apps that didn't on 1.6.0 do now. Till now I am pretty happy with the 1.7
went to 1.6.0 from stock white streak......happy with it....and have not seen a reason to upgrade to newer rom yet.....im waiting for front facing video chat to work....when theres a working rom for that, ill be upgrading to it.

What do you mean work? Work through camera app? Work with fring? The ffc works fine in 1.7.0 its apps like fringe that need to update to work with it. Btw ooVoo works fine with the ffc.
Dell Streak powered by StreakDroid 1.7.0
My ffc also didn't on 1.6.0. Not even with oovoo. It does work on 1.7 for me. But I didn't figured yet how to get the ffc to work with Tango. Seems that this is working for some people.
Hello, I have a problem when I try to watch a video avi: after a couple of minutes the system hangs, the three Android LEDs light up and then restarts.
I noticed that the same routine happens when I play games like AirAttack HD Skies of Glory, etc..
I tried to flash the new rom 1.9.1 (I'm from 1.9.0 and 1.8.1) but nothing has been resolved.
I hope that is not a hardware problem. What do you think about it?
Thanks
Which player are you using? I don't have any problems with mxVideoPlayer. I watch TV series in standard DVD rip xvid format and they all run smoot. The player is also kickass itself
I am using MoboPlayer, but i tryed QQ player and more. I'll try mxVideoPlayer but I think wich that problem it's not depending by the player because it happen also when I play to games. I am scared that's a hardware problem, I wonder if it can be. Do you think that's possible?
am having the same issue as you, this happens to me when I use Netflix or playing games like Drag Racing. I had this happen to me on Stock AT&T, SD 1.9.1, SD 2.3 and I cannot figure out what is causing it. I too hope this is not a hardware problem.
I wonder...
Are you guys over clocking? If so, what to?
Sent from my Dell Streak using Tapatalk
In these days i've noticed that the system hangs occasionally even if I didn't play or do nothing special. Mhhh..that scare me more. Because now I can't establish if it's a particular application that causes this problem.
I read somethig about the battery bay wich can causes the phone to reboot but i think my battery is well housed in his bay, i also mount a plastic cases wich make everything more fixed.
About the overclock of the cpu..yeah, personally I've tryed to clock up a little but how i wrote, to try solving that problem I changed my ROM by 1.9.0 to 1.9.1 (then tryed to go back to 1.8.1 and again to 1.9.1 without any apps) so i think that the setting i did to the CPU were lost, right?
At present, CPU Master Free says:
MAX: 998.4 Mhz
Min: 245.76 Mhz
..Really i don't know what to do...
I'll try to flash up the Simple Streak but i am pretty sure wich that will not solve anything.
Help?...
;(

do you mean wich the cpu could be damaged?! (
My streak is not overclocked, it even happens on the "stock" DELL Rom, (351). It appears the only ROM it doesn't do it to is the stock AT&T Rom....so it looks like I am selling this thing....dang.
So i am not the only one with that problem...
PeteSeiler2010, the AT&T rom it's downloadable? I want to try if it work with my streak too. Why did you want to sell yours unit if this rom works for you?
Can you tell me also where can I download the 351 stock rom?
What about the dell support? if we put the "stock" rom do you think they can repair it for us? yeah obviously by giving they generously some $$.
I am at work right now, if no one helps you by the time I get home from work, I will hook you up, it is very simple to go back to AT&T Stock. You need the multirecovery flasher and the stock AT&T update.pkg from the Dell Streak WiKi. I will check this thread when I get home and give you all the information.
EDIT: This is the link I found and used to flash back to pretty much any version ROM for the streak. I am only posting the link, I do not take any credit for of the instructions, I hope this link helps.
http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=9694
Thank you very much Pete.
I read wich the lastest At&t rom is 353. I'll try it this evening and i'll let you know.
Ok, keep me posted. It scores lower on Quadrant, but I really don't care about that. I wish you luck.
Ok, ROM flashed. Yeah, it's not so fast. The menus movments looks jerky, the quadrant test skips automatically the cpu section, i don't know why (!!!). So when the test finish it doesn't return any score and the app go crash.
Anyway, in a first time I thought it works better than other ROM but..NOWAY. Reboot ruled the way.
I tryed with Dungeon Defender game and reboot went during the download of the maps and the other parts of the game. I tryed also with the avi files but..same problem. I am tired a lot. And unhappy too because I loved the streak, i always thought it can be the right tablet for a time but it seems not to be. If I sell and buy a new one, who will say me wich that problem can not happen again?
Sorry to hear that, I decided to try another custom ROM, so I went with Streakin' 354 v.1.1 by lordmorphous and I love it, no reboots either. You could it out and see if it helps.
Hey Pete, any news? you still have the problem or have you definitely solved it? I decided to take a break since I could not solve anything. But I miss Android..so today I decided to take a look at the forum and I saw a new rom created by an italian guy (I am italian too): "Italian StreakDroid 2.4 ...." I'll try it, I hope everything magically works with that one (my first rom with android 2.3) otherwise I'll try "Streakin 'by lordmorphous 354 v.1.1
My streak was the actual problem...it just started randomly buzzing and rebooting all of the time. I sold it for parts and went back to my Captivate. I miss the big screen but not the rebooted.

Hi all. Been Modding my phones for a few years now. Started with an iPhone 3gs. Then moved onto a galaxy s. Ran darkys from on there and then upgraded to an s2 in Oct 2011. I've got experience in Modding but I don't have the correct authorisation to post on the main rom page. Although I'm new to posting I've been viewing this forum for years. I was running the v1.1 of the Ressurection remix rom. Only issue was random app closes and terrible battery life. I've now moved on to v1.3. I installed the stock Sammy ics firmware so went from that to 1.3. Runs like a dream. No errors at all. No force closures or nothing. Only issue is the hot keys and vibration. I want the hot keys to light up when I hit them. And then shut off after 3 seconds, like they used too. I don't want them on all the time. Even tho I have them switched off they make random appearances. And why does swagger mode keep turning on? Can the phone sense Im Swagtastic or summit? Lol.
Any help would be much appreciated.
PS. WESTCRIP doesn't deserve half the stick he's getting in main rom thread. This rom is amazing. So many customization options, speed and battery. If your not able to follow the very basic installation guides and your install went bad... then its your fault.. not his. He's produced the best version yet.
You have to wait for the next update. You can try the thoravukk kernel for the hot keys.

I know what you mean, amazing rom, the best i've tried by far. People seem to get the weirdest of issues on the main thread.
I am not sold on 1.3.
I had 1.1, upgraded to 1.2, went back to 1.1, upgraded to 1.3 and now back to 1.1.
My device ran much slower and battery life suffered each time I upgraded from 1.1
So far, 1.1 is the better ICS Resurrection for me.
I am trying out Foxhound now but as I am in dual boot mode, the 1.1 is here to stay unless I see a significant performance improvement on 1.3.
I used wanam(I think that's how its spelt) stock ics s2 rom. Then flashed 1.3 over that. Then gapps. Then realised I never wiped cache etc so re-flashed after wipeing cache and this rom is running amazingly. Dunno weather the way I installed made any difference or not. Personally I believe it has. This is easily twice as responsive as 1.1 and I'm also getting 4mb download speeds as apposed to 1.2mb on 1.1 in the same spot on mobile networks. 1.3 is awesome.

I agree with you. I'm in love with 1.3, and i see that some minor bugs are natural if you are on a bleeding edge technology like this is. 1.1 is more stable, true. But 1.3 is a beauty, the potential of aokp makes me thonk ther's gonna be way better, especially if developed by people like Wes.
I'm using thoravukk kernel. hot keys works better, not perfect. Battery is very good testing it now. You have many governors to play with and supports UC and OC.

I had siyah on v1.1 and the battery was terrible. Get like an hour hard use(mainly mine craft pe) which was probably related to something else. whereas today I've been on 4 hours usage with like 63% remaining. Love the feature to put the clock in the center of status bar too with the day and am/pm either side of it.
The kernel that comes with 1.3 is great so far anyways. Everything is completely stable.

I was a big fan of resurrection remix v1. 1, then I was about to try v1.2 but was scared away by all the bugs etc, and plus v1.1 was very buggy, random reboots aplenty, fone becoming very hot around processors etc, so didn't bother. Now he's released v1.3 very soon after 1.2 so I decided to go a diff route & I tried Omega v9. I've been running Omega now for a week or so & I honestly love it. I its rock solid stable, and no reboots at all, had 2 fc issues but they were both caused by apex. It's got the kitchen App so many mods & customizations are only a click away. Also it just works, & I do mean everything. The dev is now working on v10 & I for one can't wait

Is it worth installing v1.3 over 1.1 in terms of peformance, battery life, stability etc...?
Have read some people seem to be happier with 1.1 but surely as a newer ROM 1.3 would be better!
i know its down to personal choice at the end of the day but just wanted to know peoples experience/opinions
Thanks

On a separete note, did my first flash yesterday to v1.1, am pretty happy i managed to do it, the rush you get....hehe!
Try Omega v9, you won't be disappointed

NO... it's not worth it. Better off going to 1.4 of RR
PS
no more bugs on 1.1 than any other roms after you installed the fixes posted - but most users are not very good at reading about bugs and the fixes for them (even when they are posted on the OP) lol.

Gingerstreak hasn't been updated in quite some time. CM7 is a newer version of Android (2.3.7 vs 2.3.3) and is more stable in my experience. n0p has released a version of his Phoenix kernel for CM7 which improves performance, stability, and battery life. I can hands down recommend CM7 over Gingerstreak.
Don't leave out DSC though. It is the most frequently updated and possibly the most stable version of Gingerbread for our beloved device. However I have had no random reboots, screens of death, etc with CM7 or DSC.
Regarding CM7.2
I hv a question regarding the CM7.2...i hv just installed it frm the developement section n i love it...the only that is a lil irritating for me is the huge size of widgets n font n everything...just wanted to know if there was a way to reduce it...with the decreased font size i wony let this rom out of my streak
Also the light on home n back button keep blinking after a min or 2...wonder if there is a way t stop that...
It would be very helpful if there was a way out...
Thank You.
I run my lcd density at 240, so I don't have the problem you described. As far as the flashing lights, make sure you flash a amss and dsp1 from 407 using fastboot. The flashing lights are a symptom of a mismatched baseband.
Ok i did the baseband flashing and my baseband is GAUSB1A140514-EU
Nw when i try to put DSC_Phoenix_Mugen_Full.zip kernel using streakmod recovery, my fone hangs up on dell logo...i had to reinstall the cm7.2...could u help me out plz...
Yeah, flash the kernel in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1579585
The one you flashed is for DSC, not CM7 or MIUI.
Ok the kernel is also set...nw im looking forward to reduce the font size. The adw launcher makes the overall font n size of the stuffs quite big compared to the stock...i would love if i could reduce the font...everything looks too big to me...

Did the ROM you flashed have HDPI in the name? If so that's your problem, is set for 240 LCD density. Try the other version, it's MDPI or 160 LCD density.

I have been on GingerStreak pretty much since day 1 that DJ_Steve released it. I followed his developmental process and stayed current every step of the way.
Just last week, I switched to CM7. (yes, I feel like a bit of a traitor)
However, Steve has been going through some things in trying to get ICS on the Streak so he had stopped devloping GingerStreak. CM7 was updated more recently. And from what I hear DSC is fairly good as well.
CM7 is so far a bit more stable than GingerStreak. After being on GingerStreak for so long, I would occassionally have random reboots. Most notably during app installs or updates, after the install/update, the phone would reset, somtimes go into a reset loop that required a battery pull. The other issue would be an unresponsive touchscreen. I would have to unlock the phone two or three times to get a responsive touchscreen back. And after phone calls, I would have to lock the screen then unlock, just to have a responsive touchscreen to be able to hang up the call.
So far with CM7, I do not have the issues. However, since it has barely been a week (6 days), I'm not ready to declare CM7 a complete success. I'd like to keep playing with it. The battery life seems good, and very comparable to GingerStreak. I can get a full day no problem.
CM7 has some nice tweaks built right into the core, and you can toggle several of the radios directly from the status bar (wifi, bluetooth, etc) which means one less app for me to install and one less widget running on the homescreen.
I'll probably be trying out DSC in the next couple of weeks to make a solid determination, but for now CM7 seems slightly better than GingerStreak. Nothing to take away from DJ_Steve, as the guy is a monster. He nearly single-handedly saved the Streak community. But, while he is working on ICS, GingerStreak had to be left behind.

I stopped using my Streak over a year ago when I moved to Sprint. I'm going to Europe for a month so I need to go back to the Streak. I haven't been keeping up with the ROMs on the Streak so looking for some quick advice. What are the key differences between DSC 1.1, Longhorn 2.8 and CM7.2 RC0? My key criteria is stability. I also need Google Maps and wasn't sure if freezing it for DSC meant not being able to use it. Beyond that, I'd love to have extended toggles in the notifications area. Also, is there a guide to upgrading from StreakDroid to one of the new ROMs? Thanks.
Guides for upgrading ROMs are all over the place so please use the.search to find them. As for DSC, you would be better off using 1.0 rather than 1.1, until 1.1's data bugs are pinned down.
Freezing an app renders it unusable until you thaw it.
For me Longhorn 2.7 work better than 2.8
If you prefer stability, then I recommend DSC 0.73c or PowerROM Evergreen for you...
The other so far still give a li'l laggy experiences in daily use in my case...didn't know with longhorn 2.x though...
Sorry for my bad language, the only language I'm good at is body language
Sent from my Dell Streak running MIUI 2.4.20 (not official)
Ive had a streak now since they first hit the shops and have played about with every custom rom going.
I found to date the most stable rom to be MIUI 2.4.20.
I never had any issues with this rom whatsoever and would highly recommend if you want functionality and stability.

Ive seen some people say that MIUI 2.4.20 for the streak is laggy but i find as with every custom rom if you overclock with setcpu this makes the rom much more responsive.
I also found that the rom i mentioned was stable on the highest cpu setting which is what i ran with it and had no problems whatsoever.
Spare parts is also a good app to use as you can set the responses to fast which also eliminates the laggy experience which is not desirable.
