Yes that's the correct part. The part you are replacing is called the digitizer (the touch-screen glass that sits in front of the screen), not the screen itself, in case you were confused.

So basically whilst trying to change the track while walking home my Galaxy S3 had a coming together with the pavement, Now the top left corner of the glass is smashed, there's cracks going along the glass but the screen is in one piece and the digitizer still works perfectly, I was wondering what I'm looking at for fixing it? Is it possible to just get the glass covering the screen and replace that or will I have to replace the whole screen itself despite the fact that's in fine shape?
I want my beautiful screen back basically! Thanks for any help you can provide
Search is your friend........
Bummer about your screen.

Nope you need to replace the whole unit since you cannot separate the parts - at least not without damaging them.
It's around 250€

I believe that means separating the digitizer from the screen, not for the faint hearted. Full unit replacement is far easier but more costly. There are plenty of posts regarding this matter.

yea pulling that screen off is going to be a bugger......you will need heat and time. i dont see problem with the pulling OFF the screen, but i wonder how you would re-adhear the screen once it is pulled. are they going to send you special glue.
thats where i would just replace the whole screen and digitizer. it seems risky to get the screen and pull it off......and just be stuck with a makeshift way to stick them back together.
So a friend of mine recently shattered her note 2... what are her options in going about getting this fixed/replaced?
As the title states the screen, digitizer, and glass is shattered.
Screen and Digitizer come as one unit, so even if only the glass was broken, you'd need to replace both. You can fix it, but it requires a lot of work disassembling the phone. There are a few how to videos on Youtube for it. Also, the displays aren't cheap. Last I saw, they were >$200 for a new display.
Yea best option is for her to use insurance claim for device. Its $99 and in most cases cheaper than getting it fixed. I recently shattered my screen and replaced the phone thru asurion. Here in houston cell phone repair stores wanted $140 to repair.

Not true. My uncle changed just the glass yesterday. Didn't change the digitizer and everything works great. Glass was $15 from amazon

Yeah he's right..I smashed my screen and bought just the bezel of eBay then tried to heat up the front like everyone does and pull the glass away but, the glass and screen came up and then the digitizer broke. Just get it replaced its not worth trying to fix it yourself.

If digitizer is broken you have to send to Samsung for repair. Samsung repaired my screen+digitizer on my S3 for $140.
Having never changed a screen before my uncle got his changed in an hour or so. Just used a heat gun and pried it off. Taped the new one back on. Even switched to white in the process
You can change the front glass by itself, but if the screen or digitizer are broken, then you have to get all 3 together, at least from everything I've seen. For the OP, it's not going to be a cheap fix no matter what is done, but insurance will be cheapest, if available.
Samsung will replace the whole screen for $179. That includes parts labor and shipping both ways.
I made a video on youtube.com/outleradam about repairing the screen with a new one.

Adam, your video doesn't show about 2/3 of the process. It is just a black video screen.

Only the glass is broken, the rest of the phone works perfectly.
and maybe should the best video my way of how to replace it
The reason you want to purchase the screen with the digitizer is that is is very hard to put the glass on the digitizer with double sided adhesive tape that all sellers of the glass alone don't provide. So most end up trying and get this.
then end up buying the them combined. Good luck but asurion is the cheapest rout for most.

Cracked my screen and after doing some research realized I'm better off purchasing both the lcd and Digitizer together rather than just the Digitizer.
My question is, if I am replacing them together do I need to disassemble the entire device? Most of the videos I've found show the Digitizer being removed.

You will have to take off the back which is pretty easy but will probably damage the yellow seal. Everything inside, motherboard, bottom board which has the LCD ribbon underneath it and the top board which has the digitizer ribbon underneath. Got to be careful with the top power button un-stick first. Then your just left with the middle housing take off the screen assembly get rid of the double sided take apply new and be careful getting the top digitizer cable in as once i pulled down the cable too much and the cable got folded in half and didn't turn on. Wait a few hours to see if the digitizer is nicely stuck down and doesn't pop out again as i had to apply tape to the top of the digitizer as will as it just would stick down, the bottom was fine. Remember the old screen assembly has the plastic strip at the bottom for the lights just attach to the new screen.
Thanks for the advice, the parts will be in tomorrow, I'll update with my experience.

So today my phone fell and i got a crack.
It sucks. But,i got only two lines. Nothing to big i can see the screen and work on it without a problem.
But i can't actually feel the crack under my finger. So is there a piece of plastic on top of the screen ? I can see the shadows that these lines make under them,so i think it's not a crack on the screen but rather on the piece of plastic (if there is any) that is the par of phones mask.
So my question is,is there a piece of plastic on top of the screen and can i change the phones mask without changing the screen ?
Yes, but I don't recommend it.
It's hard, and you have very high probability on break your screen.
It's easier to replace whole screen.
Digitizer it's about 25$ on eBay and whole screen about 60-70$

So today I dropped my lg g2 while it was in the quick window cover or smartcover or whatever it's called and the screen got shattered literally
So there's this crack that goes just from the top of the screen to the very bottom in the middle of the phone as if the screen has been cut into two halves, and now the side of the glass responds a little bit to touch I can answer calls for example..but the left side is useless or when I press a little hard on the left side the touch responds in a crazy way :s so what does that mean ?
that I need my LCD and digitizer and gorilla glass replaced ? Or just the digitizer and gorilla glass ? Or gorilla glass only ? Since the screen responds somehow to some touches
The display has no problems in black areas or dead pixels or sth
And what is front housing ? I found it on eBay but didn't get it
About Digitizer, where is it located ? Under the LCD ??
Thanks
First of all questions go in the q&a thread and as for your phone digitizer is not working but is a very dangerous and risky job so I recommend you either buy an LCD with digitizer or take it to a repair shop

Well, you did drop it...
it's because G2 has two different connectors for digitizer so one side is working and and the other is not (should be upper side and lower side)

the digitizer is in between the screen and the lcd.
I would not try to split the screen/digitizer from the lcd. Even if you accomplish this you are going to have to be extremely careful not to get anything in between the new screen/digitizer and lcd when you repair it. you would also need to make sure that you create a complete seal so that no dust/lint/foriegn bodies get in between them after. It is so much easier to get one already pre-assembled (screen/digitizer/lcd)
you can pick up a new screen/digitizer/lcd off amazon for about 120-180, mine came with an install kit as well ( no adhesive but all the tools necessary to dismantle the phone).
Then youtube "LG G2 screen replacement" Its fairly easy and simple to do.
If you decide to go this route vice sending it in I would watch the video() a couple times and then follow along with it as you perform the repair yourself.

Just trust you need to buy the lcd digitizer assembled. The fact that your asking if it's broken shows you probably don't have the skills necessary to simply replace one part. Its actually extremely tricky to do. I fix phones for a company but i hate replacing just onr half of the assembly.

The digitizer is a part of the screen. It's the zero gap technology that LG boasts about and while it's awesome I general, it's a pain if your screen cracks. You won't be able to find a digitizer alone or a lcd alone for the g2 these come together
Sent from my LG-D802 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Okay so this is the back of a g2 digitizer and if yours is cracked right throughout the middle that means that somewhere around the silver/black lines it broke and the touch can't fully communicate with the cable that connects to the phone at the top/bottom
