Has the new Kies STOPPED recognizing ROOTED/Flashed phones??? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has the new version of KIES STOPPED recognizing ROOTED/Flashed phones??? Why is there no answer from any DEVELOPER/SENIOR Forum Member about this since yesterday? This problem is being faced by many people. Please treat this as URGENT MATTER!
I am facing a new problem with the latest version of Kies (Kies_2.0.3.11082_152_2). It fails to connect with the phone and shows the error, "cannot start service on this device. Pls disconnect and reconnect the device". What does this mean? Have tried everything. From re-installing Kies to re-installing device drivers using the Connection Error Resolution thing in the Tools menu of Kies. It was connecting fine till yesterday.
My laptop has Windows 7 Home Premium which is fully updated. And my phone is CF Rooted KF3 with Stock Kernel. Does anyone know what's wrong?

Ok. Never mind. I fixed it. Don't know if it is a permanent fix though. This is how I did it........Tick the USB Debugging option first and then connect. It will install a few drivers. Then disconnect and Un-tick the USB Debugging option, then reconnect. It starts recognizing. I guess there is some issue with Laptops using Windows 7 x64

Have you tried with usb debugging off?
Edit: looks like you found my answer as I was typing

Judged by the number of recent posts i would say you are correct latest |Kies has connection/ cannot update this firmware problems .
As Samsung have taken steps to counter the reset of custom rom counter this may be a further tightening .
jje

Does anyone have a clue how to fix that issue then with Kies not being able to check for the latest firmware if you flashed your phone? I can see this becoming troublesome in the future.

Roll back Kies to an earlier version .
jje

It's broken for standard phones too...rooted phones have not been singled out for special (mis)treatment.

Where is this USB debugging option to be found?
I noticed that by rolling back to 1.0.2.11071_128 the problem is here too (now?).

[q] ~~~ phone not connecting to pc ~~~

Hi guys,
Last week my rooted S2 was getting recognized on my PC and my friend's PC. But today when I tried, both Kies and mass storage are not getting recognized. Things I have tried -
1. Reinstalling Kies.
2. Reinstalling all drivers.
3. Some websites said some cache may be causing this issue; searched for all cache and deleted the long file names.
4. Phone is not getting detected by Odin either.
5. Wiped cache partition in recovery.
I'm planning to do a factory reset as a last resort after backing up apps with Titanium backup.
The issue started after I had flashed my S2 with MIUI rom. Now I went back to stock ROM and deleted all MIUI backup but still facing this issue. Please help!!
Note - When I plug in the phone, it says MTP connected and gets charged, but PC is not recognizing the device.
Thanks!
have you tried unticking/ticking usb debugging?
Try with the phone connected to pc and if that doesn't work try unconnecting first.
Does anyone know why the new KIES is not detecting??
@thevarunfactor : I am facing the same problem of Kies not detecting my phone.
@Killall : Your answer is NOT CLEAR and very CONFUSING!

I have tried all that... Still it fails... I guess it may be an issue with my PC... Would try with another PC now..
I have the same problem and I have tried it on two different computers with the Galaxy S3. Both computers are running Windows 7 64 bit. My son also has the S3 with a Mac computer. after installing Kies he has no problems. I guess Samsung needs to work on the drivers for windows as I have seen that many people are having problems. Call Samsung and report the problem (I did). The more people that call the faster it will be resolved.
i had this problem. pc didnt recognize it. took it to my brothers pc and still didnt work. it got fixed when i factory reset the phone and boom it worked on my pc running windows 7 64bit. and it also worked on my brothers pc
Well I finally found a solution - my son brought his S3 over and it worked so I figured I needed to do a factory reset of the phone, after I did that it connected without any problems. Doing a factory reset was a real pain since it also wipes out the 16gb of internal memory, and naturally I had to reinstall all my apps but it worked and I can connect without any problems. (Windows 7 64 bit laptop and desktop).

[Q] 'Device not found' whenever entering bootloader

It's my first time trying to root here and yes I'm new. But anyways, I'm stuck very early on in the process, not having even unlocked the bootloader yet, simply because whenever I launch the bootloader, I hear the 'connect/disconnect' windows sound, from then on it just says 'error: device not found'. This happens even though I've had the usb connected from before loading into the bootloader.
I've tried countless things for around 3 hours and nothing seems to work! I'd also like to add that I'm using Hasoon2000's all in one kit if that makes a difference.
I've done the obvious things like turned on usb debugging, installed htc drivers so many times, installed htc sync manager, uninstalled, reinstalled again. Tried using different usb ports, tried two different PCs. Checked all over the internet, can't seem to find anything.
Basically, my phone seems to disconnect or decide 'not to exist' as soon as the bootloader starts up not allowing me to do anything on it.
Any help would be appreciated, I know it's nowhere as bad as bricking your phone but I'd love to root my phone so thanks!

It does say fastboot USB all the time it's conneceted but still isn't found by the PC. Also installed the drivers and plug/unplug while on the bootloader.
I've had problems with the sync manager many times in the past, not being able to detect the phone, would that be a problem? If so I was thinking if resetting the phone and trying again would be an option, thanks
Make sure you're not using winodws 8, coz its not supported and the ADB drivers are not included in the sync manager.
So try it on windows 7.

One of the PCs was windows 7, the other was windows xp, so I'm having a feeling it's the phone itself
It's easier to do with Linux.
Do you have the option to try with it?

-Open device manager on ur PC, If u see "Android Phone" exand it, if u see My HTC then...
-Right click, update driver software, browse my computer..., let me pick... next, ok
Hope it works... it worked for me.

Mtp failure!!!

Ok. So to some up the first 2 days. I have been trying to install drivers and such to my laptop so I can get from ME7 running 4.2.2 on HD10.2. I installed samsung drivers from their website and also kies. Didnt work on my personal laptop.
The next day, I tried on my wife's laptop. Had the same issue. Everything installs correctly except for MTP driver.
Day 3. Laptop 3. SUPER FREAKING ANNOYED.
I am using my work laptop this time. I made sure there were absolutely 0 samsung files, drivers and whatever on the laptop. I went and FIRST downloaded the Samsung Kies from the samsung website. After completing downloading and installing its drivers I then plugged my Galaxy s4 into my work laptop using the stock charging cable that came with the phone. It started to download drivers. Everything was looking great. It Kies, it said my phone was trying to connect and it said that for awhile. I went ahead and selected MTP on my GS4 and the computer started downloading more drivers. ( Yes, debugging is turned on in developer options. ) Everything installed correctly EXCEPT for the freaking MTP driver. WTF??? This is my 3rd day in a row and my 3rd different laptop trying to get the freaking MTP to work so that my phone and computer can communicate so I can get away to hacking and get to HD 12.
Does anybody have any suggestions or any help? Has anybody had the same issue? I mean this is just beyond crazy and I want to pull my hair out right now. Please help.
That's sound strange. Did you check again all steps ?

I found that youtube video that other day. The guy was really hard to follow but maybe I will give it a second try. I feel like i have tried with usb debugging on and off but I will try it off like the forum that you mentioned said and see if that works. Also, I do have a external sd card.
OK. So i went and found media storage under settings and apps and then all apps and I cleared the cache on it. Then i made sure debugging was off. Plugged phone into my cpu. mtp driver started to install and BAM. It said ready to use. WOW. ITs amazing. I finally got it. Thank you for the help. It has been hell trying to get this to work
OK. Well I had it working. Since then, I have been downloading all the needed files to go from ME7 to MJ. I downloaded samsung Kies also. So i plug my phone into the computer and now I am not seeing the phone being seen by my cpu. I went to my computer and didnt see it anywhere. Weird because I just had it working like an hour ago and was able to see what was on my sd card and what was on my onboard phone memory. So i open up Samsung Kies and it just shows the phone is connecting and it has been saying connecting for the past 15 mins. So....now what? ahhhhhh

So i guess my issue is. if i start my cpu, plug in my phone, it says installing device drivers.....idk why is does that everytime i plug the phone in because I have already installed the drivers. Also, mtp fails to install which is weird bc it worked yesterday. So i right click on my computer and go to manage and find the phone in there and then open it up and install the usb mass storage driver from there and then itll see the phone and then after a few mins it seems to disconnect from the mtp without me disconnecting it and the crazy stupid circle keeps going around. It so effing frustrating. I have never had such a pain in the ass problem with rooting and flashing roms on any previous phone. This is craazy
Still not working!
Im almost defeated. I have tried on 3 different laptops. I have installed and uninstalled drivers. I have deleted all usb drivers via USBDeview program and plugged phone in and tried again from scratch. I have manually installed the drivers. I am using my stock cable. I have tried with debugging on and off. I have watched a youtube video that had me go into the register files and change some settings. Its day 4 of dealing with it and i havent got it yet. I have done more research and trial and error then you would even know. I am beyond frustrated.

[Q] Interrupted odin flash broke the USB

I can see also that the USB driver installation fails due to an error sent from device.

Maybe the kernel did flash a recovery, so can you get to it?
Re-installing kies, don't forget to close kies before using odin. (don't think it has something to do with this problem but you can always try)
Do an advanced search on the member @Hopper8 and search for his Odin troubleshooting thread. Follow all the instructions there...... and in the mean time, DO NOT go anywhere PIT files no matter what anybody else may tell you.....bad pit flash = chuck the phone away.....

That's not a s2 issue, but a USB PC issue. Repair your PC USB ports or try in a different PC. If same happen in all PCs then it is a s2 issue.

Try a different data cable. If it doesn't work, take it to technical service. Anyway, be sure, because you're issue would be the first similar issue in the world i have read.

The S2 forum is littered with "my phone won't connect to/isn't recognised by my PC". It's a fairly common problem. 9 times out of 10 it turns out to be a USB port problem. I've lost count of the number of these threads I've commented in, so I wrote a guide on how to easily/cheaply replace the port/board assembly.........
