really need the pro for help..=( - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I newbie in Galaxy s2
My kernel version is [email protected]#2
Which software should I use to rooted my galaxy plz..
I already used odin3 v1.85 and I already follow the guide to root my galaxy s2
but the problem is odin cannot connect with my galaxy... i don't know what to do right now...
plzz help me....

Odin does not show your device as ready? Have you installed Kies and connected your phone via Kies? You have to install the SGS2 drivers, that Odin can connect. Kies can do this for you. So first install Samsung Kies, connect your phone (in order to get the right drivers).
Then close every Kies programm running (via Task Manager) becaus Kies badly interfers with Odin. Now you can put your phone in download mode and Odin shout connect.

owh...
it's means i need to install kies installer first then I can connect my phone to PC?
It's it kies have version? If have the version, which version should I used?

dont forget to kill kies from running in background BEFORE any odin attempt. Kies block odin, and can harm your phone If It does

Root has nothing to do with free software that comes via the Android market.
Apps that are Warez/Theftware are banned on XDA .
If you cannot connect your phone to your PC use another one nothing else can help.

samsung kies is not working on windows 8 and keeps crashing, will this be an issue? because i thought i have to run my phone in kies once before i use odin so it installs all the needed drivers correctly .
definitely need your phone to be detected first, so yeah... KIES must be installed on the machine you're doing this on.
I had to use an old PC laptop before KIES beta came out for my mac.
*ahhh the sacrifices we have to do to flash ROMs...*

Does your phone connect normally via USB to the computer ? completely uninstall and re-install via a fresh download of KIES. Clear your Temp, %Temp% and prefetch folders. Check if the cable is faulty or not. One of these is bound to help you.
I have tried reinstalling keis and done everything i can think of but nothing seems to help. Before the update of kies my phone used to be able to connect via usb like normal ever since the update its all gone to pot

First of all, I must say that KIES is one of the worst pieces of software I have ever seen. It is buggy and you must hope it will work eventually.
I got one successful with my old phone (galaxy 551) after updating via ODIN first to the correct firmware for my country.
But with my current Galaxy S2 I had to go to the repair center who used ODIN to get the right version on my phone.
I now have made KIES work on my windows 7 machine. I had to install the UK version (not the country version) and used the connection problem wizard to reinstall the drivers. Now it says I have the current version of my firmware.
To go back to your problem. It would help if you post which OS you are on and which version of the firmware you have currently installed ?
Also have you USB error detection off in the settings of your Galaxy S2 ?

He said the computer won't recognize the phone. Maybe you need to learn how to read. When using Odin or cwm to flash anything it doesn't touch download mode. That's a untouched partion.
Op try to boot into download mode then connect your phone n see if Odin recognizes the phone. If so you can use Odin to restore the phone.

If it's a Windows based PC, he should check to make sure he has USB drivers installed. If the drivers aren't installed, when he connects the phone to the PC it should detect the phone and try to install USB drivers. If it doesn't find any it will ask for a location to install them from. I forget if I installed them separately, or if they got installed when I loaded Kies.
But if he has the proper USB drivers installed, and the phone doesn't show up in Windows Explorer as a new drive in a few seconds... it's probably a problem with the phone that might mean sending it back to Samsung for repairs.
hard brick
give it to service
only thing that can help u now is z3box (and other similar tool)
EDIT: Deleted my reply about drivers. It was redundant and other replies come from people with much more experience.
My friend has done this too before, only Service Center or RIFF(?) JTAG Box can save you.
@ Service centre blame kies for everything (If Kies wasn't so useless- we wouldn't need to update with Odin.

Kies files needed for rooting?

I recently deleted Kies from my pc as I never used it with my S2.
Now I want to root my S3 and I was wondering do I need to have Kies on my pc so that some driver files are present when rooting?

No, you don't. Just make sure you install the right device drivers.
If ODIN can pick up the phone, then you're fine.
You need the Samsung drivers found on KIES.
As an alternative, you can just download the Samsung driver instal package from Softpedia etc
If you do instal KIES, ensure it is not running (or its process in PC task manager) when using Odin, or you may have issues with Odin.

If Kies was installed when you used your GS2 you should already have the relevant drivers (well I did)
It's recommended to install latest KIES.
Yesterday i got error when i plugged my phone to my notebook but then i installed kies then the driver successfully installed.

Personally I wouldn't be concerned kies isn't really useful, plenty of threads on here about kies messing phones up. There's nothing you can't do yourself without the need of kies. You've already tried everything I can think of. Does kies itself require updating?

nope it does not need an update and i really would like to stay away from odin
Bro don't fear Odin, embrace it. Latest updates sooner, avoid bloatware and no root needed. Never had a problem with it, in fact it saved my phone several times as I'm a flash-a-holic
