Personally I wouldn't be concerned kies isn't really useful, plenty of threads on here about kies messing phones up. There's nothing you can't do yourself without the need of kies. You've already tried everything I can think of. Does kies itself require updating?

nope it does not need an update and i really would like to stay away from odin

Bro don't fear Odin, embrace it. Latest updates sooner, avoid bloatware and no root needed. Never had a problem with it, in fact it saved my phone several times as I'm a flash-a-holic

Does your phone connect normally via USB to the computer ? completely uninstall and re-install via a fresh download of KIES. Clear your Temp, %Temp% and prefetch folders. Check if the cable is faulty or not. One of these is bound to help you.
I have tried reinstalling keis and done everything i can think of but nothing seems to help. Before the update of kies my phone used to be able to connect via usb like normal ever since the update its all gone to pot

First of all, I must say that KIES is one of the worst pieces of software I have ever seen. It is buggy and you must hope it will work eventually.
I got one successful with my old phone (galaxy 551) after updating via ODIN first to the correct firmware for my country.
But with my current Galaxy S2 I had to go to the repair center who used ODIN to get the right version on my phone.
I now have made KIES work on my windows 7 machine. I had to install the UK version (not the country version) and used the connection problem wizard to reinstall the drivers. Now it says I have the current version of my firmware.
To go back to your problem. It would help if you post which OS you are on and which version of the firmware you have currently installed ?
Also have you USB error detection off in the settings of your Galaxy S2 ?

[Q] Kies wont recognise my SII

Hi,
I am trying to update my Galaxy S II to the latest firmware but whenever I try to connect it to Kies the PC does not recognise it.
I have downloaded fresh copy of kies from the Samsung site and also got my phone back to factory settings.
The phones shows MTP Application connected and the bar keeps moving but nothing happens on my PC.
Any advise would be helpful.
Thanks
try manual way with odin ? also, it is more safe with odin.
download the latest official firmware, you can look from sammobile website and flash it with odin.
i dont like to upgrade via kies. its downloading also upgrading at the same time. its too risk. let say, in the middle of process suddenly the electricity is down. there is a chance that the broken process can brick your phone.
Had the same problem and the way round which i found was to open kies first and then connect your device and it works.

Are you running a stock or a custom rom

[Q] Cant connect to kies since root

Since rooting my phone I cant connect to kies is this something I missed in the small print, anyone else have this problem? It just shows up as connecting which it never does.
Try uninstall of Kies and reinstall .
Root using CF root does not block Kies .

I did the trouble shoot connection and it re-installed the kies driver. The problem is still there it just wont connect
Problem solved simply uninstall SuperSU which I am guessing will take me back to stock? The guide I used to root the phone which I cant link in this thread! had me install CF root v6.0 is this an older version there is a 6.3.
So the question now is can I root up to 6.3 safely?
Yes. Just flash the new kernel through Odin/CWM.

No, you just got rid of the app which manages root-access for programs. The kernel is still modified.
another pc
try another pc with kies installed
I rooted the phone again with 6.3 and everything worked fine. But today once again I cannot connect to kies even with a reinstall. I have the phone charging through my pc and every so often a pop up in the task bar with new hardware found galaxy S3 comes up. WTF!
Try to coonect via a different USB port - this many times solve the problem. I not know exactly why, but sometimes some of the USB ports wont let you connect to KIES.

[Q] Kies no longer sees my phone

As the title says, Kies no longer sees/detects my phone. Did the sammfiles/rooted update to my phone via odin and Kies wouldn't see the phone. Wiped the phone and forced an update via Kies with model number/serial number and afterward Kies still would not detect my phone. Any ideas?
Edited to remove the "task rom" comment. Got my devices mixed up

Have you tried to turn off debugging in the development section?
Yeah. Tried that. It's no biggie tho since I can still force updates if needed. Thanks for the reply.
Removing/Freezing/Uninstalling/Disabling etc... bloatware causes Kies not to work.
Installing CWM also causes Kies not to work. Because, in short, CWM replaced the factory recovery
I find that if I plug my USB cable into different ports on the front of my computer I get different results.. Might be worth a shot to try if you have more than 1 to choose from.
"Device Not Supported by Kies 2.0"
I've a similar problem. I ran Kies yesterday for the first time since the ICS update back in April and it began to update to a new version. After which it says, "This device is not supported by Kies 2.0"?! I've uninstalled and re-installed about 8 times today even the Samsung USB drivers and nothing! What's going on?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

it wouldn't work while i was rooted with gingerbread. i returned to stock and it worked fine. after that i was able to root after update thanks to creepyncrawly from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746181 and it works fine now. if you go this route make sure to read the whole thread first. you have to get another kernal before wiping or you can brick your phone. im using siyah-v3.4.3-nonswap by ktoonsez and so far so good. not sure if you have to update to ucle5 for it to work but thats what i did. i havent had a chance to try other roms. hope this helps a little

For me. This is what worked. First go into device manager (on computer obviously)and remove the phone drivers currently installed.Next turn off usb debugging. Then plug your phone in to a different usb port. Let it do it's thing. Unplug, turn on usb debugging, plug back in.Let it do it's thing unplug. Reboot into cwm recovery, plug in. Let it do it's thing. Unplug. Turn off usb debugging. Boot up phone. Plug in. Profit. At least this is what fixed it for me.Good luck. Happy flashing.

Kies won't find my phone on rooted stock JB (tried everything)

Ok basically I used to use Omega v29 with Siyah Kernel as I was impatient for JB on my unbranded phone, and I’d heard good things about Omega.
Then I9300XXDLJ4 leaked and I decided to return to stock, so I did the following steps…
Mega wiped via recovery (twice just to be sure)
Wiped Dalvik/factory reset/cache
Flashed LJ4 via Odin
Wiped again after flashing
Then I noticed my CSC was set to ‘KOR’ so I downloaded an app from the play store to change it back to ‘BTU’, connected to Kies and it found the phone just fine.
Then I rooted my phone using CF-Root 6.4
Flashed Extended power menu for LJ4
It then gave an error message when I connected the device to Kies, it wouldn’t even let me access the phone via Kies let alone check for software updates. Sorry I don’t have the error message to hand but it gave me the option to report the error and it seemed to say that it wasn’t able to verify the device name contained in the Kies folder on my HD (i.e XXDLJ4 etc)
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Kies and it still gave the same error.
I then downloaded Triangle away and rest my counter, after doing a further factory reset/format and when I connected my phone to Kies it connected just fine and said i had the latest firmware. However this morning when I connected to Kies (after freezing/disabling apps in TB, installing Busybox and turning Traingle away off from start up using All In One toolbox) it gave me the same error message.
Not sure what else to try, my phone wont even connect to Kies (to backup contacts etc) and I know there are other methods I can use to backup/update but I’d prefer Kies still to work as I know it has worked previously, any ideas at all on what I can do get it to work again? I've searched high and low for a solution but most of the replies seem to suggest doing things i've already tried.
Thanks
You do know that Google backs up contacts, apps, settings and wifi passwords right??

I know there is that feature on the phone but i have ive had it turned off for as long as i can remember as i did all my backing up via Kies & TB.
If i can't get Kies to work though then i may have to go down this route, does it completely restore contacts with pictures etc when you back them up?
Yeah....backs up everything....kies sucks in my opinion

I may go down the Nadroid backup/TB/backup contacts to sdcard route, although thats not really the point, Kies was has worked before when rooted and now it doesnt so i'd still like to fix it.
Stock replies Kies not working .
USB cable not original /not working .
Not connected to a |USB motherboard port .
Kies corrupt total removal including registry .
USB drivers corrupt a windows USB port problem delete all from USB port .
Wrong codes supplied by non original firmware to Kies .
Phone firmware faulty .
Still problems try the KIES Forum .
