More info about ICS from Motorola here
PHASE 1 – EVALUATION & PLANNING: During this phase, we evaluate the benefits, technical issues and user experience of an upgrade. Generally, we are not able to provide release dates in this stage. There are also some cases in which we can state that an upgrade will happen but are not able to provide a release date. Please note that some products that enter the Evaluation and Planning phase may not complete the upgrade cycle.
PHASE 2 – DEVELOPMENT: This phase represents the development of the software upgrade. When a device is in the Development Phase, we will provide an estimated calendar quarter for its availability. This date and the development activities are subject to change.
PHASE 3 – TESTING: Testing is an important phase to ensure that an upgrade works properly and delivers an improved experience. Testing time may vary depending on the device and carrier requirements. Once a potential upgrade enters this phase, Motorola Mobility will provide the approximate month that we expect an over-the-air (OTA) upgrade to become available to consumers. Availability still depends upon completion of testing and certification by carriers or relevant authorities.
PHASE 4 – AVAILABLE: Once the upgrade is approved by the carrier or local regulators, Motorola Mobility will note on this site that the software is available. In most cases, consumers will receive a notification on their device that the OTA upgrade is available. An available upgrade or update may be rolled out over a period of time in order to best manage the deployment volume and experience. At times, a small testing group is provided the upgrade before it's made available to a larger group. On your Motorola Android Phone or Tablet, you can go to Settings ⇒ About Phone/Tablet ⇒ System Updates to manually check for an OTA upgrade. All estimated release dates are based on available information and are subject to change.

Quater 2 2012? What do you think?
FOK!
if Q1 was changed to Q2 it means that Q2 could be changed to Q3 in the future... :-(
Why I only did believed motorola that the update will be in Q1 as they promised and bought that bloody razr... :-((
"did we meant Q2 2012? oh, i meant Q2 2013, sorry guys.."

LOL.. I Agree with you..
The reason Motorola is The duration of each cycle varies and in some cases is dependent on our carrier partners’ requirements. As our products complete each phase, we get closer to releasing upgrades and therefore we can provide a better estimate as to its availability
To late for Razr & Bionic.. No Q1
One things for certain, I won't have any Motorola devices by then!
The funny thing is, my wife's HTC Desire S is going to get ICS before my RAZR. And HTC have had to come up with Sense 4.0 - a significant piece of work!
Motorola need to ease up on the device releases and start devoting some resource to support.
Google: "hey moto, we are your new owners... can we have a look on your ICS dev progress?"
Motorola: "oh.. this? lol, we even didnt start to build it..."
Google: "so... why did you told everybody about coming soon ICS rom?"
Motorola: "ehh... you know... we didnt want to get many pressure from the customers."
Google: "jesus christ what an idiots.. okay, listen up! why dont you start building ICS for your devices?"
Motorla: "oh come on man, why are you ruin all the fun? we dont to start with this ****ty stuff."
Google: "monkeys, do as i said or else."
Motorola: "okay okay, what a party pooper... lets start with this **** guys"
Motorola: "can we change the date to Q2 or whatever?"
Google: "well, okay."
Motorola: "maybe E3 2014?"
it is funny how moto has been giving the shaft with no dates until the day after GooGle takes over.
something i made for making some laugh
I hope that the situation won't be the same as with HTC Hero a time ago. Postponing update for almost half a year. When it already rolled out it turned out to be a real crap. Hope Moto will get a grip on itself and roll out the update in the beginning of the Q2...

Hi there
this is sort of ROM development related, just so happens that the cook is HTC!
just got off the phone with a technical support specialist at HTC and been told that an update to the phone is imminent
just thought i'd give everyone a heads up
Yes, I also recently asked HTC support about update and they said new ROM is going to be released in nearest weeks.
Good news for us, less good news for the ROM cookers.
Now I can't wait for two things, the new Elite RC3 and the new ROM by HTC .
Thanks for the update duke_stix!
yes but what updates is it going to bring maybe winmo 6.5
yeah and wich one gonna be Windows Mobile 7 ??? that also a good quastion we should ask Microsoft are't we???
Doubt that...it'll prob be something we wont even notice!
I don't know what to say.. to another user some guy from HTC costumer service said that a new ROM will be released in december. December passed and no ROM released.. So..
i guess this is some sort of strategy. htc says "we will be releasing a new rom in very short time". And everyone becomes "oh ok then i can live with my problems on my htc pro now, as there ll be a new rom soon." and customer is now happy.

Exactly. that's why i haven't announced their promises anywhere %)
today i phoned htc europe support because i have to return my phone for repairing the g-sensor; by the way i asked if there is also a solution for the gps-lag and he told me that a new rom will come out in the next weeks (there are on testing it actually) and gps will be part of it; i don´t want to comment this statement but maybe a really solution will come ? - lets keep our fingers crossed

Good man, share with others !!! OEM is enough
Yay! Maybe finally due to a large number of customer complaints about the GPS, and the general lethargic nature of the phone (including music skipping, etc) HTC have decided to fix things. (Wouldn't hold my breath though)
I have called HTC today again to complain about the GPS and other things.
The specialist with whom i talked said to me: A new rom will be available for the EU soon. At the end of februari with fixed GPS. So let's wait ...

yea, they are going to release a new ROM with all the GPS fixes that the great chefs at XDA discovered. We know they pay attention to the forums here, why put in the RnD when all you have to do is see what we did to fix our phones, and implement it

So it was supposed to be "late december" then "january" and now "end of february"....
Well we can't be surprised with lack of support from HTC; it's always been like this. They have a line-up of 25 new phones appearing in 2009. How much time can they allocate to support post-sales problems for each model? Maybe one working day for each model?
well just my 2 cents. i was at att the other day and i saw a guy there from att head quarters testing wm7 in my area. my buddy works there and said they have been testing for a while. i did see it with my own eyes. looks totally different.
wm7 or 6.5?

ROUND 3:
THE ICS LEAK AND THE THEAD HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM XDA AS WELL AS POSTS MADE BY epinter FOR THE PAST COUPLE DAYS!
The official reason as to why this happened
FBI warns users of mobile malware (Google states Jelly Bean has protection that older versions of Android does not)
Cnet Article: FBI warns users of mobile malware
Support My Moto Campaign has been specifically mentioned in latest Cnet article.
A big thanks goes out to Casey Newton and Roger Cheng for mentioning us here at Support My Moto!
Over fourty articles covering Motorola's removal of the ICS update and over ten articles that mention the campaigns
This is the Official Support My Moto Campaign Thread
Support My Moto! at supportmymoto.comA unified campaign backed by developers and you requesting Ice Cream Sandwich & Jellybean updates, source code, and unlocked bootloaders for the owners of Atrix MB860, Atrix MB861, Atrix ME860, Electrify MB853 ,Photon MB855, DROID X2, MB870, XT882, MT870
The main goals of the campaign is to have a unified front in submission of requests for Ice Cream Sandwich & Jellybean updates, source code, and unlocked bootloaders for the owners of Atrix MB860, Atrix MB861, Atrix ME860, Electrify MB853 ,Photon MB855, DROID X2, MB870, XT882, MT870.
What we would like to happen;
Unlock would make JB ROMs available to anybody that wants it.
Updating would cover more moto owners and thereby minimize the impact to Moto's profits and public image.
A clean plan of how the $100 credit is to work as "We're looking into it" type statements are very damaging.
The reason we ask these things is that it gives Motorola room to work with. Once/if Motorola decides to open up a line of communication then specifics could be discussed. Ideally unlock and an update would cover almost all Moto owners. Either way, both solutions would be of benefit to Moto. Even though I'm fronting the campaign I would like to see as many people walk away from it happy, or at least not want to attack each other.
This is achieved by filing Better Business Bureau Complaints, FTC Complaints, emailing The Consumerist and signing the petitions. These things and more can be achieved at the

With the coverage from cnet (and articles that have cropped up because of it) the anger over this issue is getting out.
UPDATE:
"Update My Moto" has closed their campaign. Their site now redirects to supportmymoto.com. Even though I felt the leak was not enough, as it only covered a very limited number of devices, I stated that I would support their decision.
With supportmymoto.com (yours truly) attending the Big Android BBQ, please bump the various threads and spread the word.
Yet another reason to spread the word!
FBI warns users of mobile malware
Google is stated as saying the following;
"Google is aware of this and new features on its latest Android mobile OS -- Jelly Bean 4.1 -- aim to beef up the system's security over past OS iterations. With Jelly Bean's design, Google hopes to defend against hacks that install viruses, along with other malware."
Again, the call goes out to supporters to spread the word and I hope to see some of you at the Big Android BBQ!
Joke of the Day!
How do you install the Google Calender App on an 8 month old Tegra2 Moto?
You hit it with a hammer and by a 2 year old HTC Incredible S!
(Out of 44 phones released by major manufacturers in 2011 that have been upgraded to ICS or better, only two are Moto's. This isn't even including the Nexus line. HTC, LG, Samsung and even ZTE, of all people, seem to be able to upgrade their Tegra2 phone to ICS. WTF Moto!)
Looks like the Unlocked Bootloader Petition is getting real close; less than 2,000 more signatures to go! I have high hopes for this!
Thank you for posting this. I really hope this all works!
Even if it doesn't here's my reply to a comment about the campaign being ineffective in another thread.
Lokifish Marz said:
"ineffective", I think not. This campaign has already lost moto over a million dollars in sales. One contract cancellation alone cost them a possible $800K sale. You have to remember that Moto didn't ditch a couple phones but millions worldwide. Add in the press coverage by over 40 outlets and the proof that Moto was full of crap, you get the idea as to where this is going. If the estimated sales figures are correct (total estimates place the figure at over 3 million Tegra2 moto's sold worldwide) and only 20% of those affected ditch Moto, then the loss is around 600K devices (if Moto only makes $100 per device that's a 60 million dollar loss). Even Apple couldn't ignore numbers like that.

So I e-mailed him, and asked him if he knows the status of the Lollipop ROM by Ivan which was teased before.
[See THIS POST by me]
This is what he replied.
So I guess we still have to wait a few more months...but if this time, it's true, then I suppose I can live with that...:fingers-crossed:

EDIT:
An official update regarding kernel sources (at least now they're not ignoring the matter):
http://en.miui.com/thread-66692-1-1.html
Turns out we were right in speculating that the reason they haven't released it is cuz they're still working on the Mi4 using the same sources.
Here's an extract:
"The reason we have not shared kernel sources yet is actually quite simple. Hugo explained this at the press conference in India last week. The kernel source code for these devices contains a significant amount of source code that will be used in two upcoming models. If we release the kernel source in its current state, we will be revealing more than we would like to about future devices. We will change this going forward, but right now it is a constraint we have to live with. We hope you can understand this position, and we're very sorry for the frustration we may have caused!"
That's right, they're acting like they haven't been violating the GPL all this while...
Wonder what the other device is, though...
(EDIT: Turns out it was the Mi Note!)
UPDATE:
Sources are out:

What the hell is it with people turning into complete morons because an update is not coming instantly?
Is your Nougat not working? Are there thousands of bugs that require an instant oreo update?
And yes, I am SURE the marketing intern having to read all the "OMG OREO PLZ OR IMA CUT YOU" spam will walk right up to the CEO of LG and tell him "Listen here, buddy.. these people want Oreo, we better get Luis from development to sh*t out a ROM by tomorrow morning".
What's the hell........this will be my first and last LG phone....i was a Sony Lover for the past 12 years..........in terms of update Sony is the best.
give it to me
Same situation as mine, was Sonyboy since 2005, and G6 first and the last non-Sony phone, and we were unpleased with Sony's update speed!
The same for me, Sony since 2011 and Xperia X8. Now G6. Sony was almost always disappointing in terms of update policy and G6 was not so bad when it had 7.0... still hoping for LG to slightly speed up the update process for their phones and keeping my fingers crossed

i had a Xperia SP that was amazing phone best phone i had easy for flash stock and custom roms 2 years updates included minors updates but my big mistake was turning to LG phones very low updates and low customers support...they just want to sell only in all way
I just received the ore update for my LG G6 H870S.
This Forum is transforming into Bobs and Vegena Trash Talk.
These are clearly very emotional reactions.
Few people hold onto a phone these days for more than 2-3 years anyway.
Therefore updates are simply unimportant in the overall usefulness of the phone
Even the security updates in that time span don't make much of a practical difference.
Updates are mostly hype, mostly cosmetic changes, with minor feature updates and under the hood changes that don't really impact people day to day
Mainly they are needed to take advantage of new hardware on the latest models.
When you buy any other electronic device, like a refrigerator or TV, do you expect "updates" for your device?
Do we scream to Westinghouse, "why aren't you sending me new and updated shelves and motors for my fridge every year?"
Time to take a breath, a little perspective
If the phone works well and you can use all the harware features, that would seem to be enough....

Here's a sobering thought. It won't come today but on the 20th. Some folks who ordered the 2nd gen Pixel stand are saying today's email said something like, 'please keep your phone updated so you will be ready for the December patch due out later this month'.
Expect it by the end of the day. Usually see it around lunch PST but I am sure they will announce if it won't make it today.

Seems like Google is going backwards here.
Step 1, release update for older models
Step 2, release latest model's update for several countries
Step 3, ?US market?
Step 4, take over the world
Obviously it's not coming today. Would've been released by now. Did Google explicitly & directly say themselves that it would drop on the 13th? Or was it reported from 3rd parties that it would?
