Hello! I understand the time being of the CM9 port being still on testing stage however, I'm very particular in the ROM's audio quality. It's quality was at its best on Beta 3. However, on recent updates, starting from Beta 4 till v02 (I'm still on v01 since v02 only fixes some particulars), I noticed a overwhelming degrading of audio quality as I always experience louder middle to high ranges but lower frequencies are somewhat not powerful. I tried playing with DSP Manager but it's only the drums that are kicking, the lowest octaves are not that powerful. I know its very hard to explain but that's what my ears are noticing. I hope others are also noticing. Well, I would like to know if I can port the audio drivers and applications from Beta 3 to v02 and if yes, what are those files? Thanks in advance! IMO, CM9 music player is much better but I hope the album art will be shown according to the picture's proportion. More power guys especially Paul-xxx. I love you man!

Hi!
As many of you have noticed, the x10 has very unsmooth touch. Is it only the FPS cap that is limited or is there something else, like hardware? Iv'e heard that Gingerbread have a 32fps cap, does it have that on all devices? Shouldnt their scrolling be unsmooth then? There have to be just not the capped FPS?
Hi!
The smoothness of scrolling, animations and the UI in general is affected by the FPS-cap. It also affects the touch polling rate which you can notice as slow touch response when tapping something or playing a game like Fruit Ninja. There is a custom kernel which removes this cap but it's battery life is horrible. I'd imagine it won't take long to see a fully working kernel without the battery issues and the FPS-cap disabled.

My scrolling isn't too bad. Using rdnars SuperAOSP and the only time I find it lags is when my screen is dirty or I'm running some major usage on the memory. As far as I' aware they are the only two major things you'll come across in the better ROMS here that should effect it.
got to disagree i think the x10 is as smooth as any been playin around with my bros desire hd and cant really tell much difference between

The FPS-cap affecting smoothness is a FACT. The importance of this fact however is a matter of personal preference. My personal preference is to keep it uncapped. I'm on the verge of buying a second hand iPhone 3GS/4 just because of the godly smoothness of iOS. I'm just waiting to see if the upcoming 2.3 update uncaps this since the devs seem to not be as interested in uncapping the FPS as they are in overclocking/undervolting, which I think the former is absolutely useless when you can achieve the same perceived fastness/smoothness without overclocking.

I agree with you, in fact there are 2 other roms that has smooth scrolling which are Wolfbreak's CM6.1.3 rom and cobrato's MIUI1.3.8v2 rom, try to use GO Launcher EX you'll feel the difference...
Hi I'm using trips 2.2 and I must say with the fps cap the scrolling is horrible

have you guys tried the
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=260
hack? Add that line to your build.prop if it isn't already there.
Makes it a lot smoother

I'm not 100% sure but i think the driver is hacked to be slightly laggy.
I've tried around 5-6 ROMs. My two favorite ones so far are Wolfbreak's TW007 and EWJet xKernal. I have noticed that EWJet xKernal has a smooter UI but not as great battery life compared to Wolfbreak's TW007. (Also the fact that the latter is 2.2)
I'm looking for the best ROM that fits these criteria:
- It doesn't have to have the smoothest of UIs. I don't need to be able to literally blow the screen to flip homescreens.
- I want something that is FPS uncapped.
- It has to have an improved battery life and tweaks.
- I do not mind an ugly user interface or ones that are very easy to navigate. I do not mind learning new things so long as I don't have to climb mount everest to navigate through.
- I do a lot of gaming, so something that has less lag during gaming would be much appreciated.
- I prefer the ROM to come without it's own custom music app like EWJet's UberMusic. I bought PowerAMP and I'm loving it.
- It does not have to have the best camera or video camera ever. I don't often record stuff but I do often take pictures of things.
- I want a ROM whose creator is frequently working on improving the ROM and making it much better.
That and a few more trivial matters that I don't need to put on here. Any help is appreciated, thank you.
Maybe try cobratos formels miui rom? V4 has the new zkernel included which unlocks the fps cap. Just flash bb 67 then try his rom. I tried it....its pretty sweet.
Anyone else? 80 views and only one reply

Gingerbread is comming this august! Every1 is waiting for it and just doing minor fixes.
stick with WB's and get launcher pro, it allows you to rotate the home screen and looks great because it is whatever you want it to look like. it's free, but i bought it for the extra features. I made mine look like windows with custom icons and a windows wallpaper =D

Does Wolfbreak's TW 007 have FPS uncap?
And how about Ultima 4? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1095637
Tw 007 does not have fps uncapped but does have best battery life of the roms i've tried.

cant tell that for me i have a BIG fixes that add gingerbread feature check at my post on my signature
cheers

hey, i was just trying to get some feed back on what differences are there in gb that would be a good reason to leave froyo. the reason i ask is because i put a gingerbread rom on my vibrant for about a day and did not see a deference. everything pretty much looks the same. maybe someone can give me a strong argument for switching because at this point i just don't get it.
I was on GB for a couple weeks to try it out but with all of the bugs and non working GPS its just not worth it til there are more stable roms. People will argue that the GB roms are stable but I've had several problems on GB roms, nothing big but little bugs that just get annoying after a while. I would stick with froyo
Dont switch. They just drain your battery and have loads of bugs, like not beeing able to charge when off.(CM7)

there's your list of differences from froyo to GB
I switched because cm7 is just lightyears faster than froyo or anything eelse on our phones ... games that wouldnt work on other roms in n64oid now run smoothly
Sent from a cell tower to the XDA server to you.
It is definitely not worth switching until we get an official leak, although at this point it may be worth facing up to the fact that there will not ever be an official GB rom. The ports are too buggy and unstable to make it worth your time.. you will just uninstall it.
I think it is matter of opinion. Some will highlight the builds being buggy and others on it being faster.

+1 to that! ive been running cm7 since nightly #4 and there up past #65 so ive been on it awhile. Havent gone back since and im loving it! I like the Built in theme chooser any day i feel like changing my mood just change theme and built in theme chooser does the rest, 10 sec process. Its way so much faster then Froyo thats like comparing apples to oranges of course its faster it should be if it wasnt google wouldnt be doing a very good job! I could go on with all the cool features and specs but theres no use everyone has there own opinion. Heres the true fact of the matter it says in CM7 op cm7 isnt for the noob rom flasher so it may be buggy on ur phone due a bad flash or not wiping data or wiping dalvik. But with cm7 now having gps its as stable as its ever gonna get. Plus make sure ur reading the instructions carefully!!!
Heres what atinm from cm7 has said about vibrant running cm7 and this is so very true!!
All releases are planned to be free of all bugs. Reality forces us to accept what we can do and our hands are tied on things that we don't have code for, nor documentation for and so no, it will not be free of all bugs/limitations. If the code is stable, if the release is usable as a daily driver for most people, it will get the "stable" designation. We will continue to fix bugs that we can fix.
so its wht it is
Hey guys,
I know there are quite a few options available to me, but I'm looking for a ROM that stands out above the others.
I personally prefer a stock looking ROM, but great audio quality is what I'm really looking for. And by great audio quality I don't mean "this has Beats, it's dank!" I've learned that just because a ROM has Beats doesn't mean it won't sound terrible.
It would be nice if it interacted well with DSP manager. I switched from AndroTECH Sense 3.5 (which had fantastic sound quality, but ran kinda chunky and had some major buggage) to Warm 3.5 (which had a really slick UI but not as good audio quality).
I'm pretty much looking for the best of both worlds, preferably something that looks stock. Working 3D would make me quite happy, and 4G is moot because I don't even have it where I live.
Has anyone flashed enough ROMs and experimented? How is InfectedROM Eternity?
As for kernels, Ziggy's kernel from last year has been the best performing for me, and has good audio quality. I honestly didn't know the difference in audio quality when I flashed Chad's Anthrax v9. I have a nice set of Bose earbuds and I'd like to say I'm a bit of an audiophile. I'm looking to get a powerful sound from my phone (which doubles as my mp3 player in earbuds and in my car) but not have to worry about distortion and clipping.
Thanks for your help guys.
Have you tried using an alternative music player? The stock sense 3.0 and 3.5 music players are garbage IMO. You should try PowerAMP. It even comes with a decent equalizer.
I've tried many 3.5 roms and miks runny is by far the best. It's my daily driver right now. As for kernel I'm using chads rls9 and it works flawlessly! So miks 3.5 and chads rls9 together are a perfect combo!

I actually run PowerAMP, but DSP Manager gave a great app even better sound quality when set up right, but audio quality relies largely on the kernel/ROM combo.

I have the US version of the Galaxy Player 5.0, and during the 6 months I've been using it, I've noticed the lag, but haven't been bothered by it enough to root or fix it. I have some free time now (waiting for my Steam games to download), so I might as well root. Also, can this thing handle using an equalizer? Whenever I try bass boost on my earbuds (since bass is almost non existent on them), I get skipping/pausing.

It depends. Entropy's kernel is overclocked, so it will help with lag, and rooting allows you to tweak memory settings (look up V6 supercharger), but sometimes lag is just due to the apps you have running in the background. Also, which music player are you using? The only one I've had that issue with is n7, where enabling proxy buffering helps. Otherwise, the player can handle eq fine (although it does quadruple your idle CPU use, which affects battery life).

Limitations of the device
Overclocking can only do so much. The device is rather underpowered compared to other modern phones, that's probably why it's so much cheaper than most actual smartphones. (1/3 the price of an S3, last time I checked)
I've tried N7 and Cloudskipper. I'll try the proxy buffering thing. Thanks. How's the battery life on this rom?

overclocking would probbly help,try entropy's kernel..n flash different rom,try a few..u might like 1 better than another
Chip 1.4
I have been using Chip 1.4 with entropys kernel and overclocked to 1.2 GHz with Chainfire 3D and POWERVR plugin and NOLAG!!! Is the best combination i could find.
