[Q] Phone crashed during format. Help pls - Motorola Droid RAZR

Just got the Droid Razr. Rooted with motofail and used bootstrap for CWM. Was doing a data wipe before i installed a ROM and phone crashed during the format. Phone turns on and goes straight to the ! screen with the android on it. And it just shows this:
E:Can't read misc
(I/0 error)
E:Error in /cache/recovery/log
(I/0 error)
E:Error in /cache/recovery/log
(I/0 error)
E:Can't read misc
(I/0 error)
I've tried doing the factory reset option and it just shows the same errors as above. I have no idea wut to do from here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i had the same problem, but could access the reboot option while pressing VOL-UP + VOL-DOWN. Maybe this helps you to access normal boot operation and load the phone while running?
if not, don't you have the original cable of the charger? this will change your battery low state to battery ok... did this while having completly flash failure.
i hope i could help you.

Yeah I am able to access that menu with the volume buttons but it doesn't let me load anything just gives the errors. And I do have the original charger but it has not charged the phone at all. Still says battery low cannot program.

You razr are soft-bricked. This means you cannot program or charge the battery.
The solution is to use a 'factory cable' (will post a link here) to flash a new rom on it. After loading system files you'll be able to charge it again.

I dont have a problem right now but this is good to know for the future. I do have my original charger and cable. If I do have this problem where it is reporting battery low I can charge up my phone and then flash?
Some are saying it will report battery low even with a full battery in fastboot mode. Will this "original charger cable" bypass that or something?

i really don't know exactly if this will work on every razr with every delivered original cable + charger. but i was an idiot to try a flash with 20% battery life remaining... after this failed i got battery low state... plugged the phone to the charger, it booted to flash failure fastboot menu with telling me battery is low.
so i just tried to flash it via eternityprojects fla**** batch... everytime battery low... besides, i tried it with original cable, but plugged some cable between charger (and even pc) and the original cable...
but after i just plugged it to my notebook only via original delivered cable several(!!!) times, it showed me 'battery ok'...
was in apprentice class at the time and screamed as happy as is was
flashed perfectly

i made full wipe, deleted cache and dalvik cache.

what can i do to rescue the phone ? it has been bought 3 weeks ago in germany for 489 euro.
All razrs currently have the locked status, it's referring to the boot loader which moto has declined to unlock.

after 5 minutes battery was ok, instead of "battery low"
i have uninstalled the old rsd lite
downloaded rsd lite v5.6
downloaded "SPDREM_U_01.6.5.1-167_SPU-15-M2_SIGNEuropeAustraliaEMEA_USASPDRRTGB_HWp2b_Service1FF_fastboot.xml" sorry, i don´t know the link

Stuck in Invalid Flash Mode

Hi guys,
So I have a problem with my friends Razr Maxx on Verizon... she hated ICS and wanted GB back on her phone... I rooted the phone just fine and was going to flash the GB sbf (2.3.6) that I found on here. During the process in RSD Lite I got a failure(dont remember what exactly it said though
). Now her phone is softbricked, and when I try to go to "tools" in fastboot menu the red M blinks then it brings me right back to this screen:
"Invalid Flash Mode (s) (Boot Failure)
0A.6C
To return to normal mode - first press power key to power down
Device is LOCKED. Status Code: 0
Battery Low
Cannot program
Connect USB
Data Cable
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system): Invalid SP data
Invalid CG Version (CG: system)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: system)"
If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this problem I would appricate it, my friend is freaking out because she doesnt want to lose the limited edition employee Razr Maxx
First, try to charge the phone by plug in to wallcharger or search this forum for "low battery" solutions.
Then you would try the Matt's tools here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1769345
That tool will restore ur friend phone to stock ICS.
As i know becoz bootloader is locked we can not go back to GB once already on ICS.
Good luck!

imho, you have to have a working /system to charge the battery without booting.
You could try to solder a microUSB to make a Motorola Factory cable. This cable will ignore the low battery problem.

Or purchase from ebay: http://shop.mobileweb.ebay.com/searchresults?cmd=SKW&catid=0&kw=motorola+factory+cable

I'm having the same problem, (not meaning to hijack a thread here)
Stuck in Fastboot mode, battery too low to program, unable to charge because in fastboot mode.
Am I going to need this factory cable, to get the fastboot mode to complete the programming using
Matts tool option 1 and HOPEFULLY if that gets me back to stock rom, then I can finally charge up my Maxx using my
regular charger .... correct?

With no usable recovery and no USB debugging enabled... You're in a really difficult situation here.
The only thing I can think of is, you can try reflashing the original stock firmware using the official methods. Never done this nor do I intend to so I have no pointers for you there, sorry. You might also lose your data, not sure. But hey, at least you should have a functioning phone again!
Perhaps the local experts here will come up with something else, so stay tuned.
You will probably have to fastboot a new rom. But first you will have to unlock your bootloader. See the guides at the top of the General section.
Well my noobish suggestion is start by fast boot flashing a current recovery. Then flash the zip file in your linked thread, and you should be up and running.
I've just used this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1163342
Now my phone doesn't boot:
"Failed to boot 4
Starting RSD mode"
Aparently, I can't use Fastboot anymore.
Is there a way to recover it using RSD Mode?
Is your bootloader unlocked?

Relax, you've got a soft brick. You can recover.
Carefully follow the instructions on the link below (this worked for me). Keep in mind that your soft brick can turn in to a hard brick, so do this at your own risk. Flashing sbf files is risky, but at this point you don't have much of a choice.

take out your battery, plug into the wall charger to force it into charge mode. place your battery in the phone.
if this doesn't work, you'll have to destroy a USB cable and charge it manually.

Essentially its making a factory cable of sorts, I believe. Taking the + and - of the cable and directly touching to those terminals also of the battery while in the phone and force charging. I could be wrong, but that's what I understand of it.
That sounds like something I hope I never have to do.

I'm in the same situation and need to charge my bricked XT910. If I can only do it the way you did, I could take it from from there with returning to stock ROM. Please show me how you did this. Thanks!

Reviving a dead L9

Hello,
I've read numerous times about people being able to restore their dead bricked phones. No button combination will get my LG Optimus L9 P769 (T-mobile) to turn on. I think bricked it while trying to complete a carrier unlock. I understand that I can try to restore my phone through either fastboot or kdz. For fastboot, I was able to install the omap driver, but you know how I'm supposed to install a second driver? Well, I can't seem to do that. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? I would love an explanation of how to install the driver a second time. I know I'm doing something wrong, because when I use the fastboot script to flash the xloader and uboat, I just get "waiting for device." Also, if I want to flash a kdz, do I need fastboot drivers? I feel like my success depends on installing the fastboot drivers properly, but my computer and two others would not let me do that.
I'm really new to this stuff, so any help is appreciated! Also, please excuse me if I'm using the terminology incorrectly. Like I said, I'm new to all this.
Thank you in advance!
To install a kdz, you need to be in upgrade mode. Hold the volume up button then connect it to the computer.

Hello,
So I finally tried what you said, but it didn't work. Which program should I use to flash the kdz? Also, when I press up, should the phone have the battery inserted or not? When I tried the KDZ Updater, it said phone was not found.

You need to install ICS x and u boot then flash KDZ by offline method.

Hello, I can't get into fastboot. It may be that the phone battery does not have a charge and so the fastboot script does not recognize it when I insert it into the phone after 4 seconds. Could that be a possibility? Because I tried everything, tried many different timings many times, to no avail!

I was just in the same boat as you and pretty much gave up hope but finally got fastboot working and flashed ics x and u and bam it worked like a charm on offline flash method. You just have to pit usb cable in phone w/o battery in and go to device manager. When you see it popup under other devices right click and press install driver. Make sure you have electronic signatures disabled or it will give a error and not install. This is what prevented me from getting it to work the first 100 times! Now run CMD. TYPE CD C:/FASTBOOT < OR C:/ W/E FOLDER NAME IT IS. THEN RUN START.BAT. < OR W/E THE .BAT FILE INSIDE YOUR FILE IS NAMED. Now press enter. It should prompt to plug in phone. I put my battery in as soon as plugged in and it worked. Now Choose option 5. Let it do its thing. Now go reinstall driver as done before to be safe. Then remove your battery. Hold volume + button and plug usb in. S/W upgrade mode should come up. Slide your battery in and proceed to the offline flash method to flash you kdz file. Should be alive again! Mine was tricky going into sw upgrade mode. Sometimes it came right up then sometimes it took 4 or 5 tries so dont give up! Goodluck and you can do it! I almost gave up I felt so hopeless about getting it to work then it finally worked like a charm!

I have a question, can a computer detect the phone with the battery in it? Like the omap4430 usb device? Because for me, the computer detects it whether the battery is in or not... both ways.

Yes it will detect it. However you need to install the omap in two different locations for it to work.

The problem is, I can't install the driver in the second location because it doesn't come up in device manager.. I was thinking maybe there's a problem with the battery, like it doesn't have a charge or something. Because when I run fastboot it doesn't detect the battery no matter what timing I used. I tried everything. If I use the old fastboot script and I get to "fastboot? y or N" and I enter y, it keeps asking the same question.

Have you read my post about enabling hidden/inactive devices in device manager?
If you havent you should read it and if you have
When the inverted fastboot pops up (on your phone) remove the usb and place it back in.

Yes, i've read that post (I think I've read everything on xda related to fastboot!) I don't get an inverted fastboot on the phone's screen. My phone doesn't turn on at all.. Like I said, I'm still struggling to get into fastboot.
Could be a problem with the battery? I'm going to get an external battery charger and try charging the battery.

It died after I plugged it into the computer. I never rooted it and has the stock software. Before dying I also carrier-unlocked it using a cheap code from ebay.
