Account terminated - HTC EVO 3D

Well it was nice being a part of the EVO 3D community but I got my termination letter today. Sprint does not work at my job so I had to use a verizon prl. I actually tried many different sprint prl's but could never get service at work. Oh well I guess. Now I need to find someone to buy a rooted 3d with hboot 1.4, dock, otter box and several batteries. Hopefully whatever phone I go with at verizon has such a supporting development.

good luck with big red....me, I'd go with the Rezound as Scott from scottsroms has a leaked ICS build already cooked and he is one of the most responsive devs around (he's still dev'ing CleanROM for the 3D too)...killer screen too.

Phone claim is giving me a 3d instead of a 4g

I am so excited for 100 bucks I basically get to upgrade to this dual core beast! You should see the pictures of my evo it still functions I will take some pics and show everyone how destroyed my PC36100 is

nice, thats how I got my 3D, I was pretty shocked when it said they were shipping me a 3D... I actually got one that was brand new in the box, instead of one that was Refurbished by Asurion like they ususally do... felt good getting to upgrade for only $100 and not having to extend my contract was a plus for sure... you'll love your 3D... ive had mine for almost 4 months. and Its a killer phone.
That's how I upgraded my phones for years. I went from the Mogul to the Touch Pro to the Touch Pro 2. Maybe I'll get an opportunity this year on whatever the next big thing is.
Yeah that's how I got mines too since Sprint wouldn't fix my charging port on my OG Evo, but oh well enjoying my 3D, & mine was brand new also with 1.30 hboot

Whats funny is if you head over to the evo4g forum youll see people NOT happy about this change and the fact its happening b/c the 4G got put on their EOL list so no more of them being made.
thought it was funny people over there were talking about going and getting another one just incase b/c they didn't want a 3D. lol loony
That's how I got my 3d too. I'm happy with it. I missed my og evo for a few days but after using the 3evo for awhile Im glad I got upgraded.
We're comin from a pure power source.
Aw, that sucks. We just made a claim on my wife's 4g on friday and they sent us a 4g. It would make my life substantially easier if I only had to support one type of phone instead of two.
they sent me an eve 4g on my replacement but the bottom led's didn't light up properly so i called and then they said they would send out another replacement and that was the 3d so if u want try to find something stupid to complain about thte replacement and it will give you another whirl at getting a 3d without paying another 100
Yea. Someone stole my White 4G at Albertsons. When I filed the claim I got the message that they had no White 4Gs in stock so they were substituting the Standard 3D. At first all I saw was "Standard" and was disappointed that I wasn't getting another White phone. Then I noticed the "3D" and decided I would suffer through...

Concerns with Evo 3D and Sprint

Hey everyone, most of you will know me from the Evo 4G, I am the creator of Azrael X and Stock Turbo ROMS. I loved my Evo 4G and I loved developing ROMS for it. I was due for Upgrade in July of last year, just in time to get the Evo 3D. I was excited because of the Specs of the Evo 3D and traded "up" for my "amazing Evo 3D". To be honest, I wish I had held out for the Samsung GS-II or switched to Verizon now!
Here is the issues I have had with the Evo 3D.
My first one: I take good care of my phones, I think in all the time I had my Evo 4G I dropped it once and it was in a case so no damage. One day, I went to use my Evo 3D's camera to take a picture of something funny to send to my friends. Well, my phone became unresponsive and then my phone's display got corrupted. I tried all the troubleshooting steps, redid the phone ROM, hard reset, EVERYTHING. No dice and I heard that sometimes the camera gets disconnected and you can press real hard and it will work again. Ironically I did that and it worked once, the next day I went to use the camera and it did it again, froze the phone for a few minutes and corrupted the display. So I went to a Sprint service center and they "could not fix it, my replacement would be ordered and I can pick it up in a few days." So I get my replacement and...
I get a replacement with Hboot 1.50: Hboot 1.50 really sucks, that is all there is to it. HTC lets you root your phone...for a price! You void your warranty (not completely but it's more or less at the discretion of the Sprint employee if your covered by warranty or not if you bring it in for service with an issue) and it's not even a full root! You cannot flash kernels or radios without jumping through hoops and your phone is not S-Off. There is no current method to get S-Off with Hboot 1.50 and all attempts thus far have failed. Why could they have not just fixed my camera on my original one? This is livable with but has taken away the desire from me to develop ROMS for this phone. Then there is the....
Other issues with my replacement Evo 3D: The new one likes to restart itself randomly. It actually caused me to nearly late for work one morning because my carefully set alarm went off when it decided to restart itself. Thankfully I woke up by myself and was able to rush, get ready, and barely make it! I no longer rely on it as my alarm unless there is nothing else available. This NEVER happened with my Evo 4G, it reliably served as my alarm. Then there is...
CIQ: Sprint and HTC are spying on you; even a tinfoil hat will not prevent them from logging your phone usage. I mean, I am sure there are ways that all phones and carriers can do this, but where did I sign a form that allows them to monitor my usage? Not to mention this logging still eats up memory, CPU cycles, and battery. Even if they took this out now, not to mention developers found ways to rip out CIQ innards from the phone, this is a lameness that I cannot fathom. Then there is....
Sprint:
They removed the "Sprint Premier" program, which is really stupid. Now you have to wait 2 full years to get an upgraded phone.
The Network seems worse than ever. 4G coverage around the south suburbs of Chicago is bad at best, not there at worst. There are a couple of dead spots I always hit on the way home from work on 294.
Rude employees at Sprint. I ended up talking to a lady who kept interrupting me and laughed at me when I said something about that. I have never said, "F%$ you" to a lady on the phone until then. I actually said that and hung up, I was fuming! (UPDATE: Yes I know any company has good and bad reps and it's always a chance you will get one or the other, but she took the cake for the rudest CS rep I have dealt with from any company maybe ever. It was not just what she said, it was how she handled my questions. I should also mention she is a manager.)
Other things that I do not like about the Evo 3D.
The Speakerphone: Both Evo 3D phones I have had have mediocre speakers. The first one is way quieter and has NO bass compared to my former Evo 4G. Minor but noticeable.
The signal: This may have been "early teething" problems but my Evo 4G seemed to pull in signal much better than the Evo 3D. This could be because of premature radio and PRL updates at the time but I would be interested now to see how they compare. My Evo 4G would have 5 bars while the 3D would have 1-3 bars.
The charger port: The Evo 4G was nice because the charging port was right on the bottom of the phone. This made it easy to charge it while you mess with the phone and/or want to charge and talk at the same time. The Evo 3D has the charger port on the upper-left side. If you attempt to charge and talk, you are putting stress on your cable and the port itself. Stupid placement IMO.
Less tinker friendly: Besides the already mentioned Hboot 1.5 (partial root and partial warranty breaker) you cannot use the volume or power buttons while the cover is off. This is of course REALLY being nitpicky as there is not much need for it. But when you need access to the battery, having to take the back off every time is an extra step.
Of course, the Evo 3D is a better phone than the Evo 4G as far as hardware specs and screen quality. I just wish it was better in almost all ways instead of just specs.
The good of the Evo 3D is quite numerous of course.
The specs
The 3D features are neat
Increased memory
The screen slightly better quality
No more light bleeding like on the Evo 4G
Hboot 1.5 is a stupid means of control and I cannot believe we void our warranty for the sake of a half-ass root! I had aspirations for Azrael X 3D but honestly I feel the Evo 3D has some great ROMS already and Hboot 1.5 is a big deal breaker for me.
I might have to pass on HTC and Sprint too next time around.
More on the next post, but I want to know if anyone else has buyers (and/or Sprint) remorse lately. I am thinking of moving to "Big Red" network.
Luckily I haven't experienced any of the issues you seem to be going through. I would recommend calling or stopping by sprint and have your replacement swapped out. Who knows you might get lucky and get one with 1.4, good luck man hope it works out.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
I would definitely push them to get you a replacement, it sounds like they gave you another defective one. If they give you a hard time about it showing "relocked" shoot me a PM and I may be able to help you out.
Man what's up. I remember your Roms and work for the EVO4G. Deff top notch.
Personally I don't have buyers remorse as mine has been great here no issues hardware wise.
As for the things you mentioned with sprint itself like the premier program...I'm with ya on that 100%. Hate it that they took that away. BUT according to the Sprint Advocates group that has conf calls with execs each month, Sprint has been researching a new loyalty program to replace it with to reward those of us again. Maybe the buy your upgrade back trial program is a slight form of it, though I know they have discussed more.
As for leaving sprint if you head to big red you pretty might end up with only getting Samsung phones as they have announced their stance on bootloaders and I wouldn't be shocked to see their future HTC phones not on the unlock list...
Personally i can't beat the price here and I really want to stick around with Sprint and see these NetworkVision deployments because network wise they will improve things 10 fold in many areas. The mere backhaul improvement being done at the towers is a giant leap in itself.
S4GRU.com has a ton of very very detailed info, a lot inside info too on this. Great site btw, any Sprint customer interested in the network and such I suggest heading over there and reading the enormous amount of detailed info they have, including some spectrum analysis...
Saw you mentioned Chicago specifically so I linked the two wall posts that discuss some info on that area specifically for ya.

As far as the customer service, that's a shame man and you really can't defend them for that.

Hey ric, I thought you disappeared! I used to love your 4g roms. That sucks you've had so many issues. Good to see you're alive though.
We're comin from a pure power source.
Hey, I'm in the Chicago area too and I know there can be dead spots and sprint is the slowest of the carriers it seems. Where I'm at though, service is incredible. The Crestwood area. But I can't venture out too far before I see speeds drop. Signal strength seems to stay strong everywhere I go though. And I don't even bother using 4G. I can get it at home but not much anywhere else. And with wifi at home, what's the point? But I'm still happy with the service.
The phone I love too. I dropped it a couple times while in a case, no damage. Phone doesn't reboot, everything is responsive, etc. Maybe your replacement has something wrong with it.
Now, I did see lots of problems on custom roms or kernels or both for some reason. I trust the developers know what they're doing and I'm not a developer so I don't know why there were so many issues then. I didn't try every rom or kernel, but the popular ones I did always restarted and froze on my phone. It was like clock work. So I've stuck to the stock setup with some mods on top of it and have 0 problems.
As for CIQ goes, sprint removed it in the latest update I believe. But I wouldn't put it past then if there's some other way they're tracking us. Since the removal of ciq, things perform world's better too.
I won't get too into their customer service but I have had some really friendly support and I've had some that clearly don't enjoy their job but weren't rude to me. It happens everywhere.

Sucks that you are having so many issues, my 3d has been rock solid but sprints data in my home town is horrible. Stuck in a contract til mid 2013. Hoping to see some improvement by then with the upcoming lte. Although i dont see much about florida in their upcoming deployments. Think i read awhile back about Miami, but that was it. Best wishes to you and hope things improve for all of us with sprint issues.
Sent from one Fresh Honey Sensed Evo 3D
CIQ is indeed removed, since the January 13th update. Most phone manufacturers and Sprint are working with eachother to remove CIQ if it hasn't been already. Be glad you didn't go with Samsung, I've had so many with issues it's not funny. If you are mad about a camera issue on HTC, wait till you see what Samsung can give you. Late (if ever updates), radio issues, physical KB keypress skips, crashing camera, you name it (depending on the model). The SII is lambasted with problems galore, google it. It sucks that the HTC is locked down more, but IMO, it's not like a Samsung so it's not entirely necessary to root because the phone itself doesn't have major experience killing issues.

I feel compelled to reply an I never post I have like 3 maybe IDk. Reading your post you sound very frustrated I get that been there but you are/were a custom rom developer?? How many cell carriers have you been with?
I was with Verizon for years they do not give a **** about any of their customers. They are more expensive for everything and they will nickel and dime you anyway they can. Verizon does not have blazing fast data 24/7 that covers every square inch of the USA.
They dropped sprint premiere, so what if you call sales they will upgrade you almost anytime you wanna buy a new phone an lock you down for two more years. Sprint buys back phones they always have some deal or incentive goin on. You buy a Verizon phone you aren't getting an upgrade for two yrs forget it.
Yea its not uncommon to talk to an idiot on the phone I myself as soon as I hear an accent not of the English language ask to speak someone else because I cannot understand them but you own a phone that they prob couldn't buy with their whole weeks paycheck.
I've had all the issues that you have with reboots freezes and whatnot no camera probs this is my 4th one. But hey they have replaced them with no hassle I've been offered other phones the photon for example which I passed on.
Idk what else you ask of them when they replace the defective product you can't justify getting mad at them for replacing a defective device with the lastest and least defective software.
THIS PHONE IS FAR SUPERIOR TO THE EVO4G which I had several of those I shattered the screen multiple times on all of them from dropping it. The speaker was a joke sure it was louder than the 3d until it blew the **** out. The 3D is sturdy and durable no problems from dropping not even a scratch on the screen I use no cases or protectors. Usb charging port is pathetic pos on EVO4g. 3D came out 1 year after 4G pretty dam good phone. There's nothing mind blowing that has come out since the 3D release I just don't get it. Were just now starting to see the next wave of technology that will soon outshine the phone.
Every other electronic device that you modify through software or hardware not provided by the OEM voids the warranty why does everyone feel cell phone manufactures/carriers shouldn't its just mind boggling. If you're fedup an rdy to tell sprint **** you kiss my ass it ain't always greener on the otherside even if its red.

I don't care about customer service, I have dealt with good and bad reps of ANY company I have ever dealt with.
Sprint has unlimited plans but their network is mark-ably worse then when I first started using it.
Verizon has much better signal everywhere. I have a Verizon Mifi device and when my Evo 3D or Sprint Wifi device (which I returned) could not connect at work at all I was getting decent 4G with Verizon! No connection vs connection with 4G. And we all know Verizon has a much faster 4G data rate.
There are pros and cons to every carrier. I have friends who have all carriers, I have tried all of them almost (AT&T, US Cellular, T-Mobile, Sprint, Cingular) and there is plus and minus to all of them. But your post has some good points as well. Thank you for your reply and I agree with a LOT of what you said.

I have no idea what you said but I am guessing your post was a typical "retaliation" thread against mine and maybe the mods removed it so this post does not become a back and forth. But 30 posts about how they removed your threads are taking THIS thread off subject, so please stick to the subject matter.
A lot of people reply to posts with counter arguments but many go overboard. Maybe you did and they removed it? I can only speculate....
Anyhow, you can disagree with me of course but keep it clean. I opened this post with MY feelings, if yours differ offer counter arguments but no need to be rude (not saying your reply was rude, but seems there was something up with it).
I added to my first post now with more information

Hi Ric, I also loved your roms on the EVO 4G too. I also made the switch to red, not because of the EVO 3D. I loved the phone and it's a solid phone but I didn't have a 1.5 hboot either. I might have felt differently if I had one. I as you did got tired of watching my coverage get worse. I'm not that far from you and I was paying for 4G coverage and hardly getting it . Some may disagree but I felt my 4G was better when I had my OG EVO. I'm no longer under "unlimited" data but is sprint truly "unlimited" when there's threads about guys getting cancelled for using too much data when it's "unlimited"..Just my .02. I'm sure in true XDA fashion someone will say "good riddance" or "cool story bro" but I'm a forum veteran and have seen it all on forums of all types. If it helps with your choice I'm loving the 4GLTE coverage Ric.

Rezound or Inc 4g

I just renewed to a Rezound last week and still have the opportunity to return it within the 14 days. Should I make the switch?
No question. Unless you want/need the Rezounds bigger (and better, yes) display, there is no reason to keep the Rezound. The Inc 4G is better in every other way.
(If you're on unlimited data though, you can't... just throwing that out there)
depends what matters to you...rezound has the better screen, and similar/worse specs in about everything else
rezound already has numerous roms and such and will always have a bigger community, but its being killed off daily by bickering/trolls...a bunch of devs left in the last 2 weeks alone

Thats wrong
They just let me do that. I ordered the Galaxy Nexus last week (on the 27th) Verizon just let me swap for this phone a few minutes ago. I got dinged with the $35 restocking fee, but IT DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR CONTRACT since they process it as an exchange so I get to keep my unlimited!

The OG Dinc's forums were great too. I just really want a phone worth the upgrade like my Dinc was. This I'd my first android phone and aafter 2 year ls, its still great. My question for you all is: is the Dinc 4G a great, no wait, incredible, phone?
Also, is the S4 underclocked to 1.2 or rated at 1.2?
Thanks for reading that entire post

Well I think the Rez got GSM sms via developers using Sensation XE files and what not. Not sure if that method really could be used with the Incredible 4G as it has an S4 processor with a different implementation of LTE. Does the EVO LTE have GSM, and if have they tried the hack method?

It has a much better display and I didn't know the inc had gsm. And it has s-off. Judging by you two, I think this community will be just as bad as the Rezound's. Jeez

how are we aholes? you came into this forum and said the rezound is a better phone based on "it has gsm"
you didnt like responses to it and got defensive
since you dont seem to be amongst those getting the device, and you dislike those posting here, then dont see the point
So about the original purpose of the thread, which was a fact-based comparison between two phones... and not senseless name-calling of developers...
I'd go ahead and exchange the phone. Even with a smaller developer community than the Rezound, we've already got some quality names on board (nit especially--if you like MIUI, you're guaranteed to have a great maintainer granted that we reach the point where it works on this device), so this phone is definitely future-proof. It's lighter, it's got a better processor, it doesn't seem to be prone to overheating at all, and I vastly prefer the form factor (I checked out the Rezound in the VZW store and was disappointed to find it very blocky). Unless you really need a 4.3" screen or can't wait for a new developer community to grow, the switch just makes sense.

LTE problem in EvoLTE vs GS3?

Hi folks, I'm due for an upgrade on Oct 1st. I've struggled for months to decide between the GS3 and the EvoLTE, and I've finally decided on the Evo. However, I've been reading some complaints about it having trouble connecting and holding to LTE connections. Is this a widespread issue? I love the screen and the exterior design of the Evo, but would I be better served with the GS3 due to the better LTE connection?
I'd say it's pretty widespread. There are already some threads about it:

I think the people having issues aren't using the newer Firmware/Kernel/Radio with the 2.13 update that was supposed to correct it.
If they're using a custom ROM, they'll need to have flashed that portion of the 2.13 OTA, manually.
If a handful can confirm this on the newer baseband & firmware then it might still be an issue.
Cause of a fantastic deal I received on craigslist, I'll be making a pit stop with the EVO while the Galaxy Note 2 gets released.
I'll be keeping an eye on this problem, cause this will decide if this phone makes it to 1 of my other line or not.

ive got the latest radios and firmware and its really not much better. ive also got a s3 and ip5 in my house and the evos radio just plain sucks.
i can travel where lte is known to be and the s3/ip5 will hold and maintain the connection. my evo will be on 3g 99% of the time. When i picked up the daughter ip5 from the apple store the drive home is covered in lte. that phone kept the lte connection over the 15 mile trip, my evo........3g with a brief lte sighting while i was stopped at 1 intersection.
So would you guys recommend that I go with the GS3 instead? I like the screen on the EvoLTE better (although GS3's screen's not bad), but I don't want to go with it if the LTE connection is crap.

sucks bud, 1604, i10, 410 are all blanketed in lte yet the evo will stay on 3g 99% of the time. only place ive gotten lte and it maintained it is when im at castroville airport lol.
Those with problem connecting to 4g lte and not holding on connection. Are you guys on stock unrooted or rooted and running customs Rom? Just curious.

so it must be the phone or phone settings not network although i know the network is slow but it was never this slow
i dont think its due to rooting and customs ROMs cause ive had it both ways and its the same

Same here. The only smartphones I've had are all HTC. I fear I may have been a little bit obsessive in researching both phones in the months leading up to Oct such that I already have 3 EvoLTE cases and a pack of EvoLTE screen protectors, and 1 GS3 case
I'm in Austin, so not too far away from you. Can't believe the rat bastards put LTE over all of the other major cities in TX and then skipped right over me! *fist in the air* I hear it's coming soon though, so I want to be prepared!

i hear its starting to get lit up in austin. a few people have told me 620/parmer has lte. ill be up there in cedar park this weekend to visit my sister in law. ill find an excuse to get out of the house and run down there to check it out lol.
Has any1 played around with the LTE scan timer in the LTE record menu after dialing ##3282#? Not sure if that would help or not, I don't have LTE close enough to me to test.
im trying it right now changed it to 10 see what happens...
nothing different trying 60 now...
Latest firmware, bits, and radio and the issue is there. Also saw it on stock EVO recently. The EVO just plain sucks for LTE, no ifs ands or buts. Save yourself some pain and frustration and get the S3. If you really want the EVO after that, come back to me and I'll trade you my S-OFF EVO LTE that has been in an otterbox 100% of the time.

I really have a feeling that this might very well be a software issue. Check out my post back on S4GRU: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/1...omplete-thread/page__view__findpost__p__48892
Can’t really re-post here since I cite info found in the sponsor’s section… sorry everyone.
This thread explains why my local craigslist is full with EVO's asking for trades or selling their phones for cheap prices. I was able to pick a white EVO for $225 all while I was able to sell my used GS3 for $400.

Digitizer Fails, Sprint Steps Up

So my E3D went south on me. In Developer Options I turned on the touch tracer and could see the phantom touches that were opening apps, dialing contacts, whatever shortcut was under the spot when it fired. Crazy.
So I unrooted, loaded the current RUU, and headed to the Sprint repair location by my house.
They looked at it and confirmed the problem. Dude said, "Well, we have replacement parts so we can replace the screen. Or, if you want, we can swap it for the Evo4g LTE." I didn't think I heard him right, so I paraphrased it back to him. Yup. Incredible. Sprint was really getting on my nerves, but they won my heart back with that move.
Just wanted to share my experience - I hope everyone gets similar treatment when the time comes.
That's lucky! I took mine in last month and they replaced the screen. But, I like my 3D and LTE is not online here yet, so maybe it's better that I kept my 3D anyway.
Must be nice.. I've been through like 7 or 8 3ds and their only offer is another crappy refurb or a downgrade.

Same thing happened to me! Except it was a list given to me. The last phone was the EVOLTE and my face lit up!
I'm loving the LTE. I miss the Evo 3D only cuz aside from the digitizer issues it was a good phone to me.
The screen and battery on this is a huge improvement. I can upgrade again in July but will probably wait till end of the year or maybe next year.
Whoever had digitizer problems just keep trying. I know it helps if you have insurance.

My 3d has been having problems keeping a consistent wifi or 3g connection the past few weeks. Sprint has sent me 6 replacements, all have been broken (one bad screen, one wouldnt turn on, one the digitizer didnt work etc). I got tired of having to take each one into the store just to have them verify that it was broken. I told them I wanted a new phone, not a refurbished crap phone. The guy checked his computer, and said they could offer me a Galaxy S2 (yes, a 2) or an evo 4g (the old one, not the LTE). I told him there is no way they are giving me a phone that's over 2 years old. He talked to his manager, and he said the same thing, that's all they could offer me.
I called Customer care to see what they would offer, even threatened to cancel my account. They told me I would have to contact Asurion and pay the deductible to get another replacement (and it would be a refurb). I can't believe Sprint is turning me to them to handle their business, since they can't do their jobs themselves. AND trying to make me PAY to get a warranty replacement.
I actually bought my EVO 3D with a bad screen for $20 and replaced it with a good quality screen for $30. Funny thing is, the EVO 4G LTE went on sale for the price of free (2year contract) 2 days later here. I snagged one for my wife but decided to hang on to the 3D. I'll honestly say the only improvement i care about on the LTE is the battery. It's nice that it's light, and the screen is slightly bigger but i think I'll wait till they put out the next evo or HTC phone that has a quad core or something much better.
And this was for free?? or through asurion, I've got two 3vo's that are broken right now, Mine has digitizer problems and my lady's has a shattered screen. Will asurion replace the broken screen one for the hundred bucks with the 4g lte?
And is there a chance mine will be replaced with a 4g lte for free?
---------- Post added at 03:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:27 PM ----------
And who has the ICS 2.89 RUU, I can't find it for ****.

I guarantee you will get a refurb 3d. I just called Asurion today and according to them, they have "tons" of refurbed 3d's.
I took mine into a sprint store for the digitizer and had just dumped a sock rom on it but still had the unlocked bootloader and everything. They replaced the digitizer and even replaced the entire shell. They basically put my board into a new phone. Even joked with me about my boot up screen(android pissing on an apple)

I have tep coverage.... They don't seem to care. And the list of phones they were offering was horrible for me. Evo 4g, Evo shift, epic, and conquer... All if which came out before the 3d, have lower resolution, half the ram, single core processors, and.. oh yeah no 3d obviously but I don't really mind losing 3d if its a capable device. I asked about a gs2 and they wouldn't budge on that even. Been a customer for a decade and have 3 lines of service...
The latest refurb has horrid light bleed and the screen actually makes a sound when I press it back into the casing because it doesnt sit properly.
Hmmm. Looks like in off to download another ROM while roaming lol.

I have a bad digitizer too, so i went in to sprint with the vague hope of getting the LTE also. No luck, theyre sending me a replacement. But if i dont like it for any reason im just gonna keep mine...

Threads give me hope that when my EVO's digitizer finally gives in (it's getting really close to not working at all) I may be able to not roll the dice on a refurb EVO3d. I just don't want to go into refub hell, the unknown.... been there for a Moment lololololol. Although, couldn't they at least offer the Photon in lieu of a 3d? Damn.

You would think they could.... But no. And seriously..... I haven't gotten what I would call a good quality refurb yet.
Every single one the screen has been loose, jacked up power buttons, cases literally bulging apart... And all they wanna do is send another pos or downgrade me. I used to brag about how great they were and in all honesty I've been telling people to stay away since they started treating me like this.... Their customer service used to be what kept me in lieu of their ****ty coverage and slow network speeds.

By the way of additional information - when I scheduled my appointment online with the Sprint repair center, I included information that my phone was critical for my job (which is true) so, possibly, that played into their decision to upgrade my phone.
Hope this information is useful to someone.
I'll give that a shot... My digitizer started acting up today ironically..... Phantom touches and I have to power cycle it occasionally just to get a response.
Sent from my PG86100
Sprint doesn't really care about the rooted phone... When I was a tech for them, I still did the repair and or replacement. I just wanted the customer to be honest with me. Either case its their job they have to repair it. TEP is not effected by root.

Now that's what I'm talking about Q1 is right around the corner and for sure be worth waiting for.
Well my digitizer has become much worse over the last couple days so I had to do something :-/
So I called customer service and was told that they'd replace my EVO3d... But it'll be 5-7 days on back order. The rep said she had to offer an EVO but acknowledged that it is not an even trade. They wouldn't give me other options. I have insurance but so I figured this is the cheapest way out for now. They waived the $35 fee, or so they said. Last time I did this with a Moment, they said the same thing about being back ordered and a box arrived early with a shiny Transform... So we'll see. My contract is up in 6 months, almost made it!
