Hi all,
I've searched the forums on this topic and have yet to come up with a satisfactory answer. I've had a look outside XDA as well.
My question (and some background) is:
I've recently changed carriers from Optus to Vodafone here in Australia and while I had no issues with my Photon working with Optus data, the APN for Vodafone simple will not stick. I've read that it has to do with carriers using non-sprint MCC/MNC (Vodas are 505 and 03). So my question is, if I root the photon and pop a custom ROM onto it, is this APN issue likely to be resolved?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Hey Ladies and Gents, I've got a bit of an issue here.
I've got my faithful Niki100, which was purchased in Australia, completely unlocked (spl 1.22 Hard, completely CID unlocked as per the stickied threads), but it won't read the new KTF sim I have here in Korea. It detects what the number attached to the SIM is, but won't read anything else on it.
The sim does appear slightly different (see attached photo).
The Australian sim would be a GSM/WCMDA USIM, the Korean sim is (probably) a CDMA2000/WCDMA USIM.
Regardless though, I *expected* the phone to pick it up and read the WCDMA (UMTS) part of the sim and connect - It's quite happy using the Australian sim and roaming on the 2100mhz network here, I was expecting it to do the same with the Korean SIM.
Any ideas?
I'm using a custom cooked 6.1 rom I made with the old Nike Kitchen about 8 months ago, and the 1.65.22.29 radio.
Cheers
EDIT:
Solved: It was a combination of needing new Sim Manager version, and the retarded IMEI lock South Korea puts on all foreign phones.
I'm surprised that it roamed on the 2100 Mhz network, I thought it didn't support that, the only option I can think about is try to flash a wm 6.5 rom.
I hope this solve your issue but unfortenally I'm not an expert in these things.
Goodluck
Hello everyone,
I have recently purchased a 3G Flyer in Asia (Taiwan). The device has been s-offed and rooted with the latest FlyHigh rom 1.1 installed.
My problem at the moment is with the SIM network carrier. I have an Australian 3 sim card which i am using on the Flyer right now, however the flyer connects to the Telstra carrier network and seems to be in roaming mode. I have checked the carrier settings and only Telstra is available.
I would really appreciate if someone on the forum could explain to me why i am having this problem and if there are any possible solutions to this.
Regards
Steve
Just bought this phone from Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004QTBQ2C
The menus first came out in Spanish. I was able to change it to English and I put in AT&T SIM card. Voice is working but 3G is not working. Spoke to Customer service and they Said I have the right 3G plan.
I'm not sure what the right APN settings are.
I don't know which international version this is. It's not the UK version for sure. How do I find out?
Android Version: 2.3.4
Baseband Version: I9100UHKG4
Can anyone help?
Does this have the right bands UMTA?
Anyone knows?
Quad band UMTS 850/900/1900/2100
Is AT&T using any of those frequency for 3G?
Does all of the Galaxy S2s have Quad band suppport? Is it because of incompatible firmware that it is not working on AT&T? Can I change the firmware to something that will work on AT&T? Can someone guide me to the thread where I can learn how to change the firmware if that is the problem? Or is there a problem with the APN settings?
Quick search of forum brings up:

Also there are several other AT&T threads in SII 9100 that can point you in the right direction. Once you get the correct APN jot it down if you flash a custom ROM as it may wipe them.
Edit: got the correct thread this time
Here are settings unless you have 4g plan.

Hello, first my apologies if this is the wrong place to post this but I looked around for awhile and couldn't find a specific US Cellular sub forum. I've done quite a bit of searching and have seen conflicting reports that this S3 was not compatible with the GSM network on T-Mobile and I've also seen that this phone was compatible on both CDMA and GSM once unlocked. Does anyone know if the US Cellular S3 can be used with T-Mobile somehow?
Hey Guys, I tried searching the forums everywhere already and I've come across some non-specific posts about it but I need a definite answer.
I currently own an HTC One XL locked to rogers, and I want to purchase the NEW HTC ONE. My problem is concerning the radio frequencies across the Globe. I will be as of Oct 1st be moving to australia for a year and was looking to inquire that if i bought an HTC ONE in Canada and had it unlocked, would it be compatible for use on the Telstra or Vodaphone networks for use. Of course i would be using an australian SIM but I havent been able to find any comperable information on this matter. THANKS IN ADVANCE
solved, called telstra mobile and australia works on 3g network bands only
