Operation #MotoBBB:
I really don't know how useful making a new petition at Change.org is going to do, given that OP MOSH didn't lead us anywhere. But I feel that this + the BBB complaint rally may take us somewhere. Because, for each new BBB complaint, Motorola receives a brand new complaint, a brand new email to reply to and each email they ignore, the more their ratings and ranking and reputation will be affected at BBB.
So, here is the new petition @Change.org:
https://www.change.org/petitions/mo...s-unlock-the-bootloaders?share_id=ZhoxoqVsuz&
The aim of the petition is to get an apology from Motorola and Verizon, get all our Bootloaders unlocked AND get all the devices released within 18 months of the ICS release date to be updated to ICS.
The aim of the BBB complaint is to submit a personal, one on one complaint to Motorola. The way this works is that Motorola will get an email detailing the complaint and they should respond to it within a month, else it will count negatively on their ratings at BBB. An XDA member named iBolski already did this and he got a very detailed response. So this seems to be effective.
Secondly, I and several other users at the Droid X2 forums have also filed a complaint. Though we didn't get a response yet, I feel that Motorola is taking its time as it wants to respond correctly. So, I feel that this is adding pressure to them. Nevertheless, the fact that they MUST respond, otherwise face consequences definitely means that if a sizeable number of people complain, they will be under severe pressure.
So far 9,279 people signed the OP MOSH petition. I can't imagine how much pressure this will cause if each person who signed that petition also filed a BBB complaint. So many BBB complaints in such a short time would firstly be a record and secondly will be a huge pressure on Motorola who HAVE to respond to each and everyone of them, else face consequences.
Therefore, I URGE you to file a BBB complaint, even if you Don't sign the petition. But please do sign the petition once you file a complaint since that way I will know how many of you guys filed a BBB complaint!
Attached is a template letter for filing for the BBB complaint AND instructions on how to do so!
May we prevail! Please do submit this thread as a news tip! The more people know about this, the stronger we get! If you want to follow my ongoing struggle with Motorola, go to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1547632

Hella no, it's not spam it's stepping up to the plate, to swing with brute force.
This ISN'T my Transformer Prime
Not spam
I don't think it would be spam any more than posting links to a petition and asking people to sign it it all the forums. Either way, the BBB thread was getting off topic anyways...

I had a thread posted here about being a source for the logging app key by TrevE, with clear instruction that i was only passing it out if people provided their confirmation email.
Just curious if it was deleted or moved? Didn't see it. It doesn't show in my list of threads under my statistics. It wasn't in violation of any rules (I think)... mods?
Anyways, if it was deleted for some violation, it's cool, just would appreciate a heads up.
Thanks
Maybe?

nope......
Unless you have permission from TrevE I'm pretty sure that is considered warez.

Yeah. I just didn't want to bombard him with emails and I haven't given it to anybody that didn't provide proof of purchasing it, just out of respect
yumadtho?
You broke about six different rules. 2.6, 7, 11, 12, 13. Technically 9, if I were a mod I would not have held you to that particular rule though. I don't know if there is a rule specifically against it or not, but I believe only a moderator can request that no one make a reply to a thread.
I know you were posting with good intentions, but I think a thread like that is best left to the copyright holder, and you can't have the post sound at all like you are trying to sell a product, those I think are the big ones, but as referenced above there were 5-6 no nos.

yumadtho? yeah you're just trying to troll now. You made a post offering to give away a paid key to a program that does not belong to you and without permission from it's owner. You should be happy all they did was delete your thread.
I am going to make this post simple and to the point.
The trolling / flaming / just plain rudeness exhibited in this devices forums is appalling.
Xda forums are not here so that you can come here and talk down to people to raise your own self esteem or so that you can get your rocks off by insulting random people on the internet.
Xda is a community for people who share common interest / issues with their products. I think its time the mods here start really cleaning house. So many posts i read are meant only to troll / inflame a situation and It is making me want to look elsewhere for information. You don't even know what's true anymore because people will say anything to get attention / a rise out of somebody.
I understand that there will be a certain amount of trolling in any online forum.. But I have had a Photon, Nexus s 4g, Sensation, Amaze 4g, Nook Color, Nook touch and have come here for information for rooting several other devices and these forums are the worst I've seen here yet.
It is completely out of control.
Mods Please... Exterminate the Trolls so that the rest of us can enjoy the community that we came here for.

You have given power to the same behavior you condemn by advertising it, perpetuating it indefinitely. The only way to stop the behavior you deem reprehensible is to ignore it thereby choosing not to in any way emulate it or the effects it may have on you or others.
I see the point you are trying to make.. But at the same time expecting people to actually just ignore them is a pipe dream. Knowing that your account will be banned and your posts will be deleted is afar better deterrent then the possibility of being ignored.
In the end the Mods are here to keep the forums clean.. I think we would all benefit from a decreased frequency of trolling posts.

*****, *****, *****...
You do realize that by *****ing, and not contributing to the forum in a positive fashion, you are part of the problem?
The forums are only as good or bad as the users in them. Mods do what they can, but they aren't nannies to legislate "good" behavior. If you want to see a better forum, post good info/discussion that others can join in and participate. It's on YOU to make it better, not the mods. This isn't a spectator sport. Lead by example.
Yelling for people to behave better is like yelling for world peace. Good luck with that.
Ignoring the problem and allowing the forums to continue their downward spiral is not leading by example.
The mods are here to be nannies and babysit the threads that is their purpose... to Moderate.
I believe that if more people speak up and action is taken to stop the insurgence of rude ill intended posts it will go alot further twords the goal of rekindling the community then standing idle while threads are hijacked and turned into battlegrounds.
Your right its not a spectator sport... What have you done today?

I fully agree almost every thread ends up being a rant about asus or gary key. If you are searching for clear issues, solutions or just positive discussion with like minded members you have to trawl thru pages and pages of rants.

Just start reporting posts. That's what I do. If somebody makes a troll thread or post, I report it. That's the best way in my opinion. I agree that these types of threads perpetuate the problem. Again, its best to just report the offending behavior or ignore them.
JJ the others are right in this case, both about perpetuating and modding. You may have noticed that you received a number of thanks but the people did not pile on to the post with thier affirmative opinion to a thread title that is negative.

trust me, this works. this is what Jerdog recommended me to do. I've seen plenty of posts get cleaned up and threads shut down quickly by doing this and trying not to feed the trolling.

I flag stuff when I find it is inappropriate.
I don't wave and yell "Hey Mods, DO SOMETHING".
What have you done besides perpetuate the problem?
Deal with it on a case by case basis, you can't have a generic one-size-fits-all solution.
And sometimes you just need to close a thread and leave the complaining at home

P.S: Moderators, upon consulting with a few xda members I felt that this is NOT spamming as I am soliciting the help of members across several forums. Hence, please do not ban or in other ways punish me. If this is spam, kindly let me know, since I have done this for the first time and moreover, as can clearly be seen from the post I am bringing forth a genuine concern that needs me to post this across all Motorola android phone forums! Thank you for understanding.
Also, Moderators, please note that several other users from the Razr community said that this is a good idea and that it would be nice to submit this thread to the Photon 4G forum too! So, it is based on the request of users that I did so, and not generally spamming. Plus, it appears that users are appreciating my efforts!
I just went to both the T-Mobile and Sprint forums, just for kicks, to see what they have to choose from. And what do I see, everything I want!!!! I'm so sad, why can't Verizon stop being douche bags and let us unlock our bootloaders!!!! Like htc, they log who had unlocked it so even if we revert to stock they still know we went through the unlocking process.
I saw and signed, the Verizon unlock bootloader petition, but that is just sending a very simple email to Samsung and Verizon, it's not getting in the public eye. What we need to do is create a petition with change . org and maybe challenge the current law that allows then to do this. I mean purchased this phone, it's our phone, we should be the deciders if our phones bootloader is unlocked or not.
I am going to check it out and research and start one. I believe if we hit 100,000 signatures the whitehouse must respond to it and we may win a battle the devs have been fighting for a very long time. I will be back so stay tuned, let's use this thread as a discussion thread, please don't close and lock this thread.
Thanks

Couple of points
I am going to try to sound as friendly as possible, but you know how online works, every thing is taken in a hostile way.
1- we have a thread with the same petition, that no re-reading your post says you have seen and signed it, its also a change.org petition too. Started by a member who I really respect, Brandonrz. We hit a lil over 650 sigs and it has been around for a long time. So not sure how another petition on the same site will generate more sigs.
2- its not your phone, more than half of it is subsidized by verizon. If you want your own phone, buy a DE phone. It comes in unlocked, for the full retail price. Tmobile users pay the full price of the phone, just spread out. Not sure how sprint subsidy works.
3- I really cant speak for mods, but from what I have seen, they don't respond well to " don't lock or close threads" they prefer those statements to be made in private messaging. Again, this is just a friendly advice, I am not a mod, and I cant speak for them.
4- one mod made a point before: XDA is not a petition site, its a development site. She/He was nice enough to let one petition thread stay, not sure if they will react the same in regard to this thread.
all the best .

In response to the quoted portions of the previous post;
#1- This is exactly right, there is an existing petition thread for this same exact issue, please do not duplicate existing threads.
#2- This is also true, however, I fully support the fact that carriers should not be allowed to hide open source software behind proprietary programs by means of a method termed Tivoization.
That being said, the Kernels for android were released under GPLv2, and this issue was not countered by the FSF until the release of GPLv3, effectively tying our hands. A petition might let them know you're angry about it, but they have every right under current law and licensing to laugh at you. And they are.
#4- You're absolutely right, I will not. Creating this second thread for the same purposes of the original serves no purpose and becomes redundant. While I can appreciate the passion displayed by the OP in regards to this matter, this thread is closed as a duplicate. Please be sure to read the Forum Rules in regards to posting.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Just a bug bear of mine, why so many babies buy phones just to publicly moan about them?
Is this forum phone owners version of Facebook.
A - "I am really annoyed with my crappy phone that is worse than a brick"
B - "What's up snowflake, inbox me"
In conclusion. There is nowt wrong with the Mate 20 Pro.
The end.
Isn't the point of the forum for people to ask for advice with issues with the handset? Would be pretty pointless if every post was just "this phone is great, isn't it" and then everyone agreeing.
But after moaning about everyone being "babies", your pointless, whiny post does come across rather juvenile...

That's not what's happening. XDA is filled with fake posts from fake Junior Accounts whose purpose is to criticize phones made by One Plus competitors. I see the same posts across XDA in threads for multiple phones from Xiaomi and Huawei.
XDA is also filled with posts from members who apparently spent $800 or more on the M20P just so they could complain about not being able to unlock the bootloader even though they should have known that long before they ever bought the phone. Those posts almost always end with the words "this is my last Huawei phone..."
The M10P was the current Huawei flagship when they stopped allowing bootloaders to be unlocked so shouldn't that have been their last Huawei phone?
*****ing and moaning is not the same as asking other XDA members for advice and the XDA threads for this phone are easily 95% completely pointless *****ing and moaning.
Yeesh. The Mate 20 Pro isn't perfect. A lot of us didn't have the foresight to get an unlock code while they were available, so we may never have root. That means living with a variety of EMUI nuisances. I don't see a huge number of threads where people are complaining, in fact I'm surprised there aren't more. Personally, wifi is just broken on my phone - good thing I have a lot of data on my plan.
