Does anyone else have issues with dust getting under the front facing camera? I had the same problem with the HTC EVO 4G and it seems like a prevalent design issue with HTC cameras. Anyway to clean this out and keep it out?

I'm shocked that more people don't have this issue?
*Opinion*I have a bit, not as bad as I have had on some phones in the past in other areas of the screen. If you look at this page, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1619117 the 12th picture down you can see the proximity of the camera to the earpiece screen. I some times get build up in that screen and brush it out with a tooth brush.
Bump...someone else has to have this problem and cleaned it before. I don't want to be adventurous and take apart my screen only to find that I can't access the front camera to clean.

I had the issue with my D3. My rezound only gets dust in the speaker grill.

I have that problem on my CLNR that is a POS. Proximity sensors are fubar yet they want to wipe my phone run this and that. Damn screen pops up from time to time as well. I am tempted to brick the damn thing just so they do anything but give me another CLNR.

I have no dust at all under the front or rear camera lenses, nor under the screen glass or in the proximity sensor window.
The speaker grill tends to look like a lint trap however...
I actually had this issue last December. I always kept my Rez in my pockets (like I believe many do), and over time, the front camera became very blurry and unusable from all the dust. I did a warranty swap on the unit (it hadn't even been a month since I got the phone). The refurb VZW sent me functioned better than the new one and, to this day, not a piece of dust has settled under the glass where the front camera lies.

Is this a common issue with these phones? I don't use the front camera often, but it's driving me insane to see a mountain of dust between the lens and front glass. How the hell did it even get there? I've had this phone for less than two weeks, bought it brand-new at the store, haven't dropped it, not a single scratch or problem so far, besides all this damned dust.

same issue here
You two aren't the only ones.I'm going crazy here especially when it comes to face unlock.I'd really appreciate if someone can come up with a solution as for now I don't see any way around it except opening the phone (risky) or using compressed air.

I tried compressed air, didn't work. Only thing it managed to do was make my ear piece speaker sound like it's getting ready to blow up when I turn it up.
I read that it's a design flaw. Oh well. I doubt I'll use face unlock when I go ICS, or video calling. All of my friends Facetime, and I lost my iTouch. Ill just deal with it, I don't want to send this one in (I have insurance with T-Mobile) and have to root again, then end up with more dust.

Compressed air seems to work after a while, have to take your time.

All Lumia 920 are having this issue.
Test units at AT&T, mine and my friends.

You can't rightly say that all 920's have it. I have 2 and have 0 issues with either aside from missing xbl games. On a side note though, I have seen it occur on two of the glossy ones. (I have a cyan and a black) I don't think glossy is quite as well put together. I squeezed the screen on a yellow and it distinctly popped into place.

Well, you can, because this issue is caused by a design fault. It's just a matter of time, until this will reach you too.
All devices I know have this issue und I already wrote a mail to the nokia technical service.
Cheers, Titus

Mine too. Annoyed.
My first one had a lot of dust in front of the sensor in about a weeks time, started noticing it the third day. Had to return it for an earpiece issue, had the second one for a little over a week now and not a speck under there. Perhaps someday but not near as quick as the first.

Anybody knows how to remove this dust?
It's getting annoying mostly because the proximity sensor is getting affected too.. and at night it just stop working correctly...

Nokia care is your best bet mate..
my solution of the dust-gate
So if we are able to identify the reason of the problem then we can do find the solution.
We know that the dust comes from 3.5 jack socket. Then just put the 3.5 jack stopper into the jack socket and that's it. No any dust in you phone!
You can find it on ebay.

Have 4 units and none have this issue.
Anti-dust fix
YES! IT WORKS! Today I tested the rubber stopper on my Lumia 920. Rubber stopper works fine and it doesn't silence the earpiece, BUT first of all, you should cut off two-thirds of the stopper (be careful not to loose the piece when you cut it off because it is so small) and plug-in only the hat + about 5mm of the base with the ring on it. If you cut off the ring the stopper wont be properly hold in the socket. Hope you can see it on the image. Hat+base+ring
This happened to my red glossy Lumia 920 on ATT, but ATT replaced it under warranty. I got a black matte one, so we'll see if it has the same problem. But you guys should all get it replaced under warranty. At least that will help Nokia realize this is a widespread issue
I have a Black ATT Lumia 920 and I had to send mine into Nokia Care US to get it fixed under warranty. My wife also has a glossy white one and I got a dust stopper in hers (had to cut it short because it would trip the headphone sensor otherwise) and hers is still great.
so where is the dust getting in from? The headphone jack or the earpiece?

There is a very little gap between the screen and the frame above the Nokia logo.
Blowing air inside the device will only make things worse.
Dear fellows,
I've got dust twice. I bought my phone in 11-2012 and sent it in in 03-2013. I got a brand new one four days later and have now dust again within two weeks of use.
Nokia seems to be still struggling with this issue.

The prox sensor is sealed seperatly from the FFC which is in a U shaped cut-out, with the opening at the top which lets the dust in. The 1308 firmware update fixed similar issues for me.
I specifically had issues with the prox sensor re-activating the screen. It would always work to turn the screen off during a call, but hardly work when trying to switch to speaker phone, etc during a call. I could never hang up on anyone I had to wait for them to end the call. Sometimes hitting the power button a few times would bring the screen on. After the latest update it seems to be working much better for me, and I have seen a few others say the same thing.
If you have not already you can use navifirm to update (but it will wipe your phone) if your FW is available, or wait for an OTA update which will not wipe your phone. If you are not on ATT in the US it might take a little before you get the update OTA.
Recently I purchased the Htc One for tmobile. I loved every last bit of it untill two nights ago when i put it under my bed completely fine and woke up to a cracked camera lens. This has to be a build quality issue because my phone was in a case. Can someone please give me a solution as how to fix it? thanks!
A build quality issue would be if the lens just fell out. Sounds like you scratched it.
Sadly I dont know how you'd fix it. Fixing the lens on the GS3 was pretty easy. Not so sure about this guy.

If the camera lens area was assembled wrong, it could crack from stress.

Sorry Its really hard to repair it yourself, just use the device warranty from HTC, it has a year warranty.
You are totally not alone: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/HTC+One+Camera+Lens+Glass+Replacement/17695
In low light camera shows smudges all over the screen.
I already tried cleaning it, tried 3rd party camera apps.
Seems as if the sensor itself is dirty.

I noticed the same problem on mine just yesterday. Did you manage to find the culprit yet?
The weird thing is, that when I am looking at some night shot I captured right after I bought it (two months ago), I can not see any "smudges" on them.
Maybe it could be possible that when the phones overheats (sometimes it is a bit hot), the sensor get damaged over time?

I thought about trying a custom rom but I think I'm just going to exchange it since it is sill under warranty.
Yeah I checked old pics and there are no smudges on them either.
I guess that's possible, either that or moisture inside. What I have noticed I takes a few seconds for smudges to appear after you start the camera.

I doubt that a custom rom would help, I am running Google dev edition on mine right now, it is the same.
I think the delay is because it takes some time for the camera to opt for the highest ISO.
I am thinking about trying to exchange it under a warranty too, but at think it could be a challenge trying to persuade the service center that the problem is severe enough to warrant an replacement
I got my Moto z in June. Starting about a month ago I have these black spots on pictures. My warranty has been voided since the 3rd day of ownership due to unlocking the bootloader. The strange part is my phone is never in my pocket or anything. It's always on my desk. I don't like the phone in my pocket due to it's size.
Any ideas on how I could fix this? Wiping the camera doesn't do anything. I've also tried shaking the hell out of the phone and that doesn't do anything either.
Thanks
Did you ever drop the phone?
Those spots are really small and precise, I certainly am not sure if those are really small dust particles or damaged pixels.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the picture I posted in the first post is a picture the camera took. The black dots appear in pictures taken with the rear camera (front is fine).
