So I started having major issues with my Rezound about a week ago and was sent a replacement. I was having data issues on my first one and the replacement solved that issue but the "new" ones screen would randomly turn solid blue and flicker upon unlock. So now I'm on my second replacement and am pretty pissed off-it gets blistering hot and the battery dies super quick.
Verizon is sending me a new one again but I'm getting pretty frustrated with the issues I've been having. They offered to give me a different phone but I really want the Rezound. I might consider the Nexus or Maxx but feel like both are inferior phones.
What would you guys do if the third replacement (fourth overall) still has problems?

I just got my second replacement (third rezound) and This one will be getting shipped back on Tuesday. If this new one has any troubles I think I'm going to grab either a Maxx or a Nexus. I'm leaning towards the Maxx. Every Moto phone I've had on my account has lasted forever. I still have 1 OG droid laying around, 2 X's and an X2. All still functioning.

The blue screen problem, was that on stock? Only seen that on leaked kernels.

Yes blue screen was on a stock replacement from HTC/Verizon straight out of the box. You can see some of the lock screen sometimes with the blue and also it will split the screen into two identical screens with the blue. Very strange.

Were you happier with the replacement unit than you were with your original? Were there any additional faults with the replacement unit? Was it worse/better?
I just sent out for a replacement for mine because of under screen dust, dead pixel, the screen tilt, and just to pretty much get a brand spanking new one the day before my 30 days is up. Am just a bit scared I'll get something worse off than what I'm giving up.
There isn't really anything internally wrong with it, besides the dust and the pixel, (the pixel is barely noticeable, but once seen, can't be unseen).
Any input from any of you would be greatly appreciated, and perhaps alleviate and fears I have about it.
My wife had the screen tilt and signal defect.
Her new one we just got yesterday is perfect. No tilt at all.
No dropping every call anymore. No issues with data and WiFi at all.
New one is like my phone. Good to go.
She is now FULLY satisfied.

I too had to get a replacement. I took mine to the Sprint store for random reboots, keyboard errors, dead pixels (5 to be exact). After testing the phone and them saying it is perfect, I began having problems a week later. Took the phone to Sprint, got a replacement and have had no problems. Speed is faster, the phone does not reboot, the pixels are all there, the screen is perfect. There seems to be no problems that I can report. I think that originally the phone had flaws due to trying to push them out so fast. But after realizing the issues, they corrected and seem to have it down.

I don't know if this will solve your problem, but i read somewhere if you add the watch widget to your homescreen and watch it that way it should work fine.
My first had a lot of problems reboots,fc with basic apps, sometimes would not turn on without a battery pull. My second one works great so smooth but I wish the speaker was louder.
Exchanged for screen tilt: new one is perfect in every way.
BTW, between myself and friends, I have access to 6 3vo's and I've tested them all with the dead pixel test on the market. Not a single dead pixel on any of the six, two of which were launch day units.

My first one was leaking light at the bottom buttons... and the main defect was the Mobile Network and Wifi would shut off randomly... When turning them back on... they would just sit there saying "Turning on..."
Got the new one... Light doesn't leak and somehow Mobile Network shut off. I'm beginning to wonder if it's me messing with the phone... I am happier with the replacement... and most will still be in the first 30 days... so you can get a brand new one.
Gonna get mine swapped tommoro due to if you shake it slightly it rattles and typing rattle is louder slow net speeds sucks. LOL love the phone.

My first one had random reboots and wouldn't sleep... along with a crooked screen, so I exchanged it. The second one still had the crooked screen, but it didn't have random reboots and would sleep properly. However, the speaker was busted. It was extremely low on volume and it would pop every time any audio was played. The third one (that I still currently have) sleeps properly, doesn't randomly reboot, and has a good speaker. It still has the crooked screen though, but it is much less crooked than the first two. I'm tempted to try one more exchange just to get one that has a perfectly straight screen, but I'm scared of getting one that's the same or worse.

Hi, im new here. I bought a gsm razr xt910 a few days ago and new problems are popping out every day.
During my razr reached, i noticed that the screen are very yellow compared to my bro's razr and i thought it will be gone after a few days but it doesnt.
And then my power button started to become unresponsive and i have to apply much more pressure to get it clicked. The power button sank deeper inside compared to another razr.
Later, my wifi is having some issues, it will only work when I am few meters away from my wireless router.
And lastly my screen got sratched and i know gorrilla glass is not scratch proof but i doesnt expecting my phone was scratched that fast. I never even placed it on any surface that will damage the screen.
I told the local distributor about all my problems and they do not offer me one to one exchange. What should i do now?
Try contacting Motorola maybe you'll have some luck with them.

After going through a total of 5 rezounds since December, I've got a phone I'm happy with. Runs cool, screen is good, buttons are relatively red, and it doesn't suck battery life. Completely stock, I'm at 35% left with 3 hours of on screen time in 4g with no wifi on, medium brightness. Gonna be keeping this one for a while.

I came from a tbolt, and have had a nexus, RAZR, charge, bionic, and revolution. This phone is my favorite.
This phone had 2.5 hours of talk time when I got it, but the sticker in the battery bay said it was refurbed on 4/26. Maybe it has better qc or something.

Le ##778# then call is how I do it. Then click view, then display. There might be another way... This phone is perfect with the exception of a questionable loud speaker. It's not bad though. It's only a little different than the one I've compared it to.. no one in the store could tell the difference. Thats how minute it is.
I got it in February after sending my first one back that apparently had nothing wrong with it, the keys were a little lighter than this ones though. This one has really red keys. I didn't know my other ones were lighter though. This one also doesn't have bad light leakage either. U can barely see it on a black screen in the dark with the brightness on minimum.

Be happy that you got a good CLNR from Verizon. It's great that they supply us with fairly hassle free warranty exchanges. But at times their quality control can be pretty fail. I've gotten 4-5 devices that have LARGE scratches on them like 1-2 inches across the screen. Enjoy your device.

Yeah it's happened on 2 of my T-bolts and a Droid Charge. The T-bolt was a nightmare for me. They even sent me like 2-3 that had screens popping out, and when you pressed down on the screen, it was like a black berry storm LOL.
I just want to say that if you have chronically high temperatures and short battery life, you might want to seriously consider that your phone is defective.
I just replaced my Rezound due to an intermittent problem with the touch screen (the problem only occurred when the phone was hot, lol). I was able to port a nandroid of my old device onto the new one, making sure that radio/kernel versions were identical, and all the problems I ever had are completely gone.
I just used the new phone for over an hour. The temperature is under 100F, and my extended battery is at 90% None of this would have been possible with the old device. I'm beginning to count the touchscreen failure that prompted me to make a warranty call as a blessing.
A lot of time and effort have been expended here to deal with this power-sucking heat problem. I don't know if it's something you can configure away, but I don't believe you shouldn't have to. Some people complain that the Rezound is too hot. When others say it's not so hot, I think we just write that off to the fact that everyone uses the phone differently. Well, I'm thinking maybe it really is just your hot phone that's the problem.
I've seen users dump their application list in the search for the culprit. How much time did Scott Crosler spend mixing and matching kernels to find the cause? It had gotten to the point that I wouldn't talk on the damned thing for more than a few minutes because it was uncomfortable to be holding that hot brick up against my head.
There are threads where people compare the hottest temperatures they've observed on their phones. We take for granted that this phone runs hot. Well, it doesn't. Maybe your phone runs hot, but other phones do not.
This is an expensive device. You'll end up paying hundreds of dollars for it by the time your contract runs out. If your phone's running hot, and you've been looking for the source, or if you've resigned yourself to a phone whose use has to be moderated to keep it from getting too hot or running down the battery prematurely, then I'm here to tell you that you might want to swap that sucker out for another one that works right.
I just got my third fix it rezound where people had similar problems. On the most recent phone, it was really slow, I mean really really slow with everything. It was also having a high heat/excessive drain problem. The guy bought two new phones because he wanted something faster. Unfortunately he had rooted his wife's phone against my advice so they were probably identical.
After I received it and saw the phones behavior I understand why he got a new phone.
The first thing I did was s off it, then I flashed a new RUU and did the entire process twice.
That eliminated almost all of the problems, performance wise it was running great. But the battery was shot. It had just suffered way too much temperature abuse. I put a new battery in it and its like a different phone, its rock solid.
I agree with the guy in the first post. If you've been fighting issues like that, and you flash a stock RUU and are still having problems after trying a new battery (as in one that wasn't in your phone back when the firmware was wonky or when you were running mismatched firmware and patching the broken stuff, send that sucker back. Get a replacement, because its an amazing device when its right.

I've had 2 this week and sent them both back. The one I have now is my second one which has a messed up front camera that I got back in February. The first one they sent me earlier this week for over 120 degrees just from charging. That was the first one I experienced with actual heat problems... The second one I got yesterday had a seriously screwed up proximity sensor so I put it back in the mail about an hour later. I sent them an email so we will see what they say I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to do, I literally do not have time to worry about a defective phone that I have spent close to 800 dollars on.

No the phone I have now has no heat issues. I'm saying the CLN replacement they sent me got super hot just from charging. i sent it back lol. It was completely stock
It was revision A, the second one I got with the proximity issues was an XA, the one I currently have is an XE I got it back in Feb
I don't consider my phone to have heat problems, but others would. It will get to 117-118 on 4g streaming. This has been consistent across both rezounds I've had. If I switch over to wifi, phone doesn't touch 100. I think its just the 4g radio on top of everything else.
Curious to the OP, are these better temps on wifi, 3g or 4g?

I think it definitely is a hardware rev issue. I've got one of the "good" rev B. phones and I rarely see over 100 degrees in a controlled (indoors) environment no matter how hard I push it. My wife's Rezound is a rev. XA "pink button" phone and it gets hot and does all kinds of crazy things I've never seen on mine.
I should also note mine is overclocked at 1836 while hers is bone stock never even been unlocked.

I am on my third Rezound because of heat issues. I love the phone, but this heat issue has been something a lot of us have been complaining about since the phone came out. Verizon has been good about replacing the phone, but I have lost several batteries because of the heat issue. Once the phone gets to hot, it starts cooking the batteries. At least that was what I told.
I agree that if your phone is overheating, you do want to get it replaced. My third phone heats up when I am watching NFL Redzone. I have not had it overheat like the other phones but it does get quite hot. If I had a complaint about this phone, that would be my one complaint, it gets to hot.

Mine heats up when outside and when using screen at 100, but I live in Florida with temps in the 90s, so I come Indie and cool off. It can do a lot in the heat like for short calls and taking pictures but no angry birds on the beach.

Seems better everywhere. I am doing an apples-to-apples comparison, though. On my home WiFi, the old phone would get up into the 120s with continuous surfing. The replacement phone is almost 20 degrees cooler. It's comfortable to hold, and I'm not constantly wondering if my hand is getting microwaved.
I'm on my second Rezound, and this one gets hot as balls. My original one didn't but I had to get it replaced because the data radio was constantly shutting off due to a botched s-off or it was failing. It will be a year next month that I've had it. I'm probably going to ditch it for one of the Nexus devices soon.
Well VZ sent me some lame email this afternoon apologizing and saying I should get another rezound tomorrow. If this one is messed up I'm taking it to the store and throwing it at someone.
Just out of curiosity what exactly was the touch screen issue you had?
I've felt that when mine get warm/hot the touch screen is either less responsive or inaccurately processes the touch to a different location on the screen.
Is this the problem you (and apparently others) are experiencing?
I guess I'll have to see if I'm still covered to get my four replacement b/c otherwise I really love this phone (as long as I don't go to far from a power source).

I have 3 issues with my current phone.
1- It has a bright spot on the screen. I'm not sure if it is a bright pixel or what but it only glares when I am on a white screen and it is about the size of a period.
2- My speakerphone sounds blown... it crackles every time i use it.
3- My phone takes 8+ hours to charge no matter what charger I am using. OEM or not.
Now. Do you feel any of those issues would get a replacement? I do not have insurance but my phone is still under warranty since I got mine in February.
Try a program called dead pixel test(market) and then tell Verizon your results. I always run my refurb phones through a battery of tests.
To your last? Are you rooted? If so change kernels and or calibrate your battery and steal your kids chargers and test.good luck

The dead pixel test puts that black menu bar at the bottom of the screen.... and that is where the issue is.

I've always had good experiences with Verizon like that. Normally the most I've seen the do is check for water damage. They're usually very understanding and don't mind helping out if they can. That's why I love big red!
So I have a similar screen issue, but mine is a blue haze in the middle of the screen. Also been having the SIM card error problem. I called VZW today and they're sending me one of the certified like new devices. However, they did mention if there was any damage to the phone I would be charged $299. I mentioned that the plastic cover over the charging port had broken off like day 2 I had the phone. She said she's not sure if that would or would not be considered enough damage to charge the fee. Has anyone sent it back with the broken cover and had any issues being charged?
These are the terms for a certified like new device as written up by Droid-Life.
