I found my old galaxy S last night and thought I would run a quick benchmark using Quadrant against my galaxy S2. As you would expect the S2 overal beat the S1... apart from 3D performance. It was only a few marks faster but the S1 did out perform. This was noticeable on the gpu section where they is a planet revolving around the frame rate was almost double that of the s2. Both phones are running ginger bread 2.3.5 @ stock

First of all, look at all the things you have running in the background on the S2.
Second thing, you're probably running the android 4 optimized version of quadrant on the s2 and the old gb version on the s1.
Install the newest on both. Reboot them both. Test then.
If you still have problems go into settings->applications->running and see what's slowing down your phone.
It's propably because the software runs more efficient on the S1.
Also who cares about benchmarks anyways? There aren't any apps out there for the S2 which have good graphics or bring the processors to its limits. Name me one which does that.
Ive now come to the conclusion the quadrant simply is **** :d
ics 3D perf gone up but 2d dropped dramatically obviously far too software limited.
My goodness that notification bar is packed

Wow the replies are either fanboyism or just honest ignorance and mistakes.
First of all he is running the same current version on both.
All those things running in the background are actually on the S1 not the S2...

Its not just quadrant standard that shows this. I have consistently been dissapointed with the SGS2 3d perf in general.
Name one?
Jet car stunts runs worse on the SGS2 and looks worse than on the SGS1.
The SGS2 refresh rate is also lower making games run worse.
IF you look at sysetm information, CUBE MAPS and CROSSBAR COMBINED not supported on the SGS2. Everything supported on the SGS1.
Personal experience, a lot of 3D games run much nicer and look nicer on the SGS1.
Really disappointed withe SGS2 screen and 3D perf.
The SGS 2 has a Mali gpu, while the SGS 1 has a PowerVR gpu. Theoretically SGS 2 should be faster but because of architecture differences it may behave worse under conditions that favour the PowerVR. I have not had problems with my SGS 2 being slow but I have not played really demanding games yet.

for benchmark u can try Antutu app over Qadrant app since it gives more accurate results over and above Quadrant one

Appears to show that the Tegra2 Version (for S Korea) is significantly faster than the Exynos (Intl) version.

That's the exynos chip from MWC(1ghz) , which also scored 2000 on Quadrant I would even buy the sgs2 if it scored 750 , if its as smooth as it is now in UI interaction

Have anyone tried GLBenchmark? If not I would be grateful if anyone tried and published the score.

GLBenchmark 2.0
Strange, according to that benchmark it has 5 red and blue bits and 6 for green - 16 in total. Of course that's rubbish, judging from all photos I've seen there's absolutely no way it only has 16 bit color. Does anybody know what's going on there?

That is the setting used by the benchmark, not a limitation in the GPU or the display.
thats not right is it?
That glbenchmark data show some interesting things. Overall perfomance seem very good with some massive boosts over tegra 2 in some areas, yet other areas like triangle performance doesnt come close.
Hm, synthetic benchmarks are a poor comparison anyway. I would like to see some game comparison... The one thing about S2 that has alarmed me is a youtube video of Shrek kart, optimus 2x vs galaxy s2. Optimus 2x is perfectly smooth while galaxy s2 stuttered something bad... Real bad. Of course it could be a game bug with mali400, chances are pretty high.
Sorry, dont have the link :/

Why do you think they made it 1.2 and not 1.0????
Probably because they announced that it would be 4 times faster than previous devices (meaning Galaxy S I guess) before doing any benchmarks, and then realised that it was nowhere near 4 times faster
So they had to overclock as much as they could.

Because the Sensation will come with a 1.2GHz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU so I guess they didn't want to look like they were not keeping pace.
Soo i happened to change my default launcher to launcher pro instead of sense. The Reslult? most benchmarks i found had a huge improvement, notably cfbench and nenemark. Just thought id pass this along to show those Galaxy SII snobs we can keep up on benchmarks even with a higher resolution
What app did you use to measure? I'd like to try one since I disabled pretty much every non essential package possible and running ADW Ex.
At x33 overclock, I get 13,000+ in CF. I never tried with Sense..

Use CFBench Or Nenamark. Ive had good results too from ANTUTU
I got overall 5163, don't know what that means, don't really care lol. Using CF Bench. Right there with the sensation. About 1300 under the SG2
Im sure over clocking and a fresh reboot would give it a significantly higher score.

btw... once you have a different launcer installed, you can go into TiBu and freeze (i uninstall) alllll the sense stuff... Not some of the frameworks... But in doing this you get a HUGE memory reduction, as well as sell CPU activity.

This is true i tried with all three launchers and here is the scores
sense 3.0 =1942
go launcher=2139
launcher pro=2242
Now I know benchmarks are not that accurate but I figured I would ask about this anyway and see what everyone else thinks...
First, whenever I run linpack I only score anywhere between 12 and 16 overclocked @ 1.8...even my og Evo got about 40 so just wanted some input on that...
And second, when I run quadrant the first 12 tests go real slow but them I seem to still score from 2500-3000 but when I looked at the system info it said my phone was only a single core...kinda thought it was strange...here's the screen shot so you can see what I'm talking about

I am guessing that you have the CPU overclocked too much and it is choking on the benchmarks. Try lowering your clock to 1500 and see if you get the same results.

htc phones have always fallen short on benchmarks dont worry it doesnt rlly say anything about real life performance. yeh it says one core you have 2 is it using both for the test? the world may never know
Yea looks like it isn't picking up second core for testing, hut the second core shouldn't be on all the time anyways, look for a dual core supported benchmark,
I believe cf bench is good for dual core,
And yea linpack borks when oc to far,

not to hijack the thread, but i didn't want to start a new post, and can't post in the developers section yet.
I just flashed myns warmtwopointthree and when running nenamark 2 i get about 20fps, I got about 26 on stock before root. I haven't messed with the cpu yet as i just flashed it, but i was wondering if anyone knows whats up with it.
I just don't want to sift through 2,500+ replies to find out. i read in the latest release notes that the gpu was overclocked but i'm getting worse performance. I wanted higher performance so i chose that rom. Anyone know why?
Unfortunately most apps are not multithreaded which means they're only going to use one core anyway. So if you want to see how your average app will perform, Quadrant is actually pretty good because it is written like most apps: for a single core.
If you want a benchmark more indicative of what the hardware is actually capable of, a multi-core test like CF Bench or SmartBench 2011 is in order. Unfortunately, I've found that the governors on most ROM's are not up to the task and they actually slow things down quite a bit so if you want max performance (numbers in the tests), you need to use SetCPU or a similar tool and choose the "performance" governor otherwise the phone will be jumping around at various clock speeds for all the tests. I've tried the "lag free", "smartass" and all the governors and none of them (on any ROM I've tested) truly know how to keep the CPU at your max frequency even when doing the demanding tasks that the benchmarks throw at it.
Mike
So I hate benchmarks but I got bored so I ran a quadrant on my tab...I got 4221...is that a mistake?
wow. seems great to me. I was getting about 2500. I switch my governor to performance and it jumped up to over 3500 though. I've got ally of apps though so I figure not bad for me either. What's you governor set at getting over 4000?

Running Task 14 overclocked to 1400 here. Couldn't get me to change ROMs for almost anything. Unless it was to an updated Task ROM. I'm running some of pershoots kernel stuff too.
Don't really care about benchmarks myself either. Just thought I'd run the quadrant to see what I got compared to what you got.
As long as it's stable and doesn't lag that's all I care.
Task has always taken VERY good care of me in all aspects of what I want, and need. So that's why I'm so partial to his stuff and suggestions of what to run with his ROMs.
Thanks mate for something to do at least for a few minutes.
EDIT: Just noticed both suggested ROMs are old Task ROMs too. LMAO

Nope no widgets. I'll have to try and freeze some more bloat.
Use setcpu, and use scaling performance so that it's truly running at 1.5GHz. Samsung uses "on-demand" speed scaling, so when you test, there's a chance it might be running at less than 1.5 if it hasn't scaled up to 1.5 yet
I'm running stock ROM (only rooted), CWM b4 recovery, and Da_G overclock kernel
Dont just freeze bloat uninstall it! I never freeze it.
i'm running stock everything except i run an installed Launcher. why would mine be higher than some others? does rooting slow it down?

Couple things here, and by no means am I an Apple fan to ANY degree, but....
4S is close to year old technology, so comparing it to a brand new superphone like the Note (even the Skyrocket which has been to market for a couple months now) is silly. I generally like Phonedog and was genuinely surprised that guy would even compare the two devices. It sets a really silly precedent because 8 months from now, he'll likely make the same comparison between the Note and the Iphone5 which just might be similarly unfair, in the other direction.
Also, Quadrant is very nearly fraudulent in terms of its usefulness in showing the "actual" speed of a device, in a real-world sense, so I take ANY statement that starts or ends with Quadrant benchmarking with a huge truckload of salt.
Just my take...
