[Q] Thinking about to change from Xperia X10 to ARC

Just wondering if we can get 2.3.3 on X10i and ARE you still good on x10i?
I don't use and play much about hardware, I spent a lot of time with apps from market and flashed new ROM released (Now 6.1.3 V05 Cyanogen). Just want to use it for daily / generally.
I love my x10i. It's really nice phone designed. But I also love to have newer coming technology.
Confusing myself!!! Please advice...
Sony is releasing an official v2.3.3 gingerbread for our x10 in the end of q2, if you wanna wait then wait, if not then the arc is a mighty fine phone
I'm staying with my x10 for a while more cause I love the phone and I'm broken so I can't buy a new phone lol

Read this news, sony has not said that all xperias get ics.

On final they have updated the news with sonys official statement.
Update: Sony Ericsson has told us that the company has made no official decision to update its 2011 Xperia phones to Android 4.0 – despite the comments from a Sony Ericsson representative at a London press event yesterday. Still, here’s hoping…
Here’s the official statement: “When it comes to future platforms of the Android OS, we will make them available to consumers in a timely manner, as long as they improve the user experience and are viable from a hardware point of view.”
So the jury is out right now, but let’s hope Sony Ericsson comes good (as long as the hardware is capable of it).
Ice Cream Sandwich will make Cyanogenmod worthless in comparison for Xperia Neo, so there will be interest and means to get it on Neo. If not officially then unofficial tweak of released FW for other phone, from source code, or some other way...
I hope sony implements it in neo. The phone is great and a software upgrade it will be much better.
Sorry for my bad english.
If they don't, then more reason to build Cyanogenmod for the Neo.

Hardware and software wise the Neo is totally identical to the Arc,and it'll be very surprising if Sony decides to update only the Arc. Given that,I'm pretty sure we shall be served some Ice cream sandwiches

I dont' care about Sony's Release of ICS, just beeing afraid of having even more bloatware then.
Hopefully somone else will make a pure clean Build based on AOSP w/o ugly Timescape.
Generally, for ICS I'm eagerly looking forward for many under-the-hood improvements apart from optical polish. Things, Google had missed poorly in the past but were proven to actually work by some Custom Rom cooks. Things like editing a contact' birthday or creating a new calendar w/o using a PC and so on...
I'm more interested in Cyanogenmod 100% working. That way we will get ICS without all the bloatware crap.
A 100% working CM is imho a fancy dream, spoken from my own experience with the Nexus1. Never without anything to mess with, always waiting for the next release that fixes one and creates another bug. That's the problem with early adopting a steady growing system. Apart from those few issues, the features of CM are absolutely fantastic!

Go google for xperia icecream and see the 1st result.
It would be good on the neo.

[CLOSED][Q]ICS to XMP in beginning of April?

Has anyone got any news if Sony is going to release the ICS update they promised in the early of April? As they promised other Xperia 2011 phones ICS will be coming to them end of March, it doesn't look likely that XMP will be getting ICS soon? Has anyone got some recent news?

Xperia mini, mini pro and Live with Walkman only getting ICS by end of May and beggining of June.
Damn it, Sony.
A bit of looking in the General section...I didn't post this long ago
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572875
Well you probably read it around the same time so it's an easy mistake.
Yeah, 1 month delay. Looking at the beta roms (official) I'm confused about what the UI will be on the Mini/Pro. Will we have the ICS blue icons throughout, continue the SE UI, or a mix? I've seen a mix of all that on the betas available. I have loved almost every UI design SE has done. BUT I do NOT like much of the new Sony UI. Some of their phone designs are nice and unique, but I do NOT like their UI, I don't want it.
I just noticed that one of the final big features missing in the custom 4.0 roms has been fixed: the camera. Now I'm happy to download a custom 4.0, especially given the delay.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1434001
I'm also really confused about many things.
First Sony said that the update was planed for end of April/Begging of may, now they are just delaying it
Also, I've never seen a beta ROM or a screenshot of the Timescape UI for smaller phones for ICS.
So disappointed....I flashed stocked ROM and relock bootloader just to update to official ICS update but now I have to wait till end of May or even beginning of June....WTF SONY??!!?!
Sony just delays the update in 1 months so we can have our fun time with the custom ROMs around
Update was delayed because of 3rd party certifications, maybe because they were busy in certifying Samsung and htc roms. 1 months isn't that long BTW.
1 month is not long at all. Should i remind you that the Xperia Pro (not the mini pro) was delayed around 8 months?
Besides, what is all the hype with ICS? You wont realise what is going under the hood, the UI will be exactly the same as it is now... Just because it is new doesn't mean its better, most of the times. Remember the bugs 4.0.3 had? the Changelog for 4.0.4 has some hundreds of changes to it from 4.0.3... So yea...
Sony have delayed the release of the ICS for the Arc S, Ray etc to mid april... So i guess we will have to wait a whole lot longer, more like mid june or something...
May be you should try some unofficial builds....
AOSP build by kamarush is really stable and i am using it on a daily basis... well xcept for hd recording...

That's exactly why I've started with the custom roms for this phone. Stock SE runs perfectly, obviously so I didn't want to leave it until custom 4.0 were v stable. My fav is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1554996&page=26
i really like the default ics UI.. so i picked up the custom ICS build by kamarush and expeacer. stable enough now for daily use.
Mid april??? I don't think so,after two weeks SONY give us new release date

Imminent ICS: Is it worth to upgrade?

Okay guys,
All of us know about the imminent ICS update that our phones are receiving/will receive. Users of Ray, Neo V and Arc S have already the chance to upgrade to 4.0 version of the little robot.
But, after reading reviews or watching videos, i can notice that there are many voices of displeasure about the update. Phones getting slower, battery drains, HD games lagging or just not working...
What do you think:
-In this month, Will Sony develop a reworked version of the update (fixing all bugs described), releasing it for first time for the next phones in the list -XM, XMP, LWW, Arc, Neo, Pro-, and also for the phones that have already received the first update?
-What will you do? Will you update and keep ICS? Will you just test? Or you will stay on GB?
More info will be appreciated (official news, ...)
sorry for my english
This should not be a problem.
If you dont like the official ics roms, you can always go back to stock gb.
Or just make a custom ics roms based on the official ics.

well.
Well man as i am a user o xperia NEO V and had this update,I think that it does not worth it...it is laggier/some apps not working and the overall speed of my phone had ruined..Not that much, but as i play HD games, I can feel the difference...Finally,it is useful that games based on orientation are not working on my ICS NEO V,but were working smoothly on GingerBread ICS neo v!
Conlcusively,as i have unlocked the bootloader of my second phone XperiaMiniPRO and tried ICS on beta stage...i think that this small screen is not for ics...Gingerbread is more smooth, better, better and better
I dont think that SONY will fix these bugs for now,i cant predict for summer but I really hope!

Thread closed? you would be kidding hehehe
This is opinion, GENERAL discussion about our devices. This topic concerns to all of us. It's OBVIOUS that BETTER ICS custom roms will exist after the release of the update. Please give more mature opinions
About djnik7... I think, would ICS run faster on the mdpi devices? i think, as the screen resolution is smaller than the Neo V, Ray, etc., the processor has to deal with less graphics to run...

alright then my opinion is, the official ics will not run any better on our devices. although im still not sure because we havent even taste it yet.
but due to other xperia users who has has experienced ics, most of them complaining about it, like slow fps, high usage of battery and ram and that kind of stuff but yet im still not sure,
because who knows ics made for lww, xmp xm or active are probably different than ics that are already came to ray, neo v, arc s and it could probably be even better.
so our bet is just wait and try it for ourself
if one not satisfy of its performance, just wait for an updates 2.4.2, 2.4.4 and so on or just go back to stock gb 2.3 or maybe wait for someone make an ics roms that are based on the official ics.
Will certainly test ICS, after that we will see.
A small note to previous user: ICS is Android 4.0, not 2.4

[Q] How to upgrade xperia x10

Anyone know how to upgrade sony ericsson experia x10 from android version 2.3.3 to the latest andeoid version now that are jelly bean if i not mistaken
If you want the latest and greatest for our old but AWESOME x10 there are only a few roms to choose from due to the age of our lovely old lady.
It depends on weather you want cutting edge and slightly buggy or a few months old and rock solid stable.
Jelly bean on the x10 is a big ask from a developer, considering the age of the device and the time investment involved in producing the rom....
However.....this has a bit of JB
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1791049
Have a search around in the forums here. Its like Dr Who's Tardis - much bigger than it seems....without the darliks
We will not see JB on x10. The butter project needs 60fps, which the x10 renders only 3 fps in JB. You can try ICS which has no full camera functionality (only 6mp, with a grey line at the bottom, and QVGA full functioning), no video recording and no Airplane mode. Moreover (if I am right), it hasnt full h/w acceleration too.
A great and stable rom for every day use is Xperia S ICS
