[Q] ASUS Support - unlocked bootloader - Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime

Hi all,
the charger and USB cable have become faulty on my prime (I think the USB cable caused it)
luckily, I have access to my wifes so can still charge my device....
I reported this to ASUS believing that no company in their right mind would refuse service on a CHARGER that has not in anyway been tampered with or abused when the device it has been connected to had an unlocked boot loader.
Well... I was wrong ....REFUSED
The purpose of this post is to see if anyone knows anything on the following:
Can a company make rules that effect your statutory rights? (probably a question for others in the UK)
Have others with an unlocked bootloader recieved service?
I certainly wont be purchasing ASUS again...
Loose screws, creaks, faulty charger, rubbish software, poor performance.. the list goes on...

they can if you agree to give up your warranty....

[Q] Oh ****, charger port.

Got a question.
I think I've damaged the USB port on my HTC HD2 by jamming the cord in too hard. It's pushed the port a bit up inside the phone and now if I don't put it in correctly and firmly, the phone won't charge or it'll cause a short circuit. This phone is less then a month old and was purchased on a plan through JB Hifi (Electronic store) so it's still under warranty.
Can I take it in and claim warranty or what? I don't got mobile insurance but either it's repaired or it won't be good for much longer. I'd prefer to be able to claim it under warranty but unsure.
Will Telstra (My network provider) accept it or? And should I flash it back to the original stock bloatware full ROM before attempting it?
from a person who has just had his phone returned unrepaired because damage to he usb port was out of warranty, it cost £280 for a new PCB.
I will be disassembling my phone to re-solder my micro usb port back onto the PCB, assuming i have not pulled up any pads!
its not covered by the standard htc warranty, but there's a reasonable chance if you go back to the seller and say its been getting progressively worse for a few weeks and just now started shorting they may just swap it out to keep you sweet.

Rezound Warranty question/Back to original

I have recently been having issues charging my phone, I have to wiggle it in order for the phone to charge and its very annoying. I fear the problem will get so bad in the future that the phone won't charge at all. Also when I connect it to my PC I have to carefully maneuver the cable in a certain way so my PC can detect it show the SD and ExtSD in MY PC.
Should I take it back and get it replaced or have others here had the same issue here and what would you recommend?
I currently have a unlocked bootloader (Hboot is JB) and and S-off.
If I do want to take it back. Can I? and where do I even begin to start getting everything back to stock?
Please help I am willing to donate to anyone that can help me with step by step directions to getting this completed.

take a look at this thread it has some good info on that

Yikes so S-off -->S-On and then back to S-off and that will lock the bootloader again then S-On again
You guys think Verizon will replace it for that reason or it's not even worth to go back to stock everything?
Return it
Try to contact VZN tech support and tell your story.
They're the best bet to secure a replacement Rezound.
If they say Yes, and are sending you a new one, then
do that recipe above and return to 100% stock, Locked.
That way, your time is paid back by insuring no surprise charge
after the return for unlocking or s-0ffing old one.

Thanks wish me luck.
I just had to do the same today for myself. It took me less than an hour to install a fresh RUU, S-On and then S-Off again to get my boot loader back to Locked. Remember they will not say anything for the unit being S-Off but they can refuse warranty replacement for the phone being Unlocked.
Is it the cable that is bad, or the usb connection? If the usb connection is bad then I would definitely contact verizon about a replacement, just tell them your phone won't charge or connect to the pc and you've tried multiple cables.
I send my phones back all the time for loose USB connections like yours.
I'm in my 3 rezound and wife is on 2nd. I have sent them all in unlocked, soff , rooted, running a Rom.
If you TELL the rep on the phone that you did all that they MIGHT not send u a replacement. But why tell them, just talk about the charging problem , tell them u have used multiple cables and chargers, tell them your friend has a rezound and you used his cable and charger that work fine on his phone but won't work with yours.
You will have a replacement tomorrow
All this business about putting everything back to stock is nonsense.
Vzw released a statement saying that they only look for 3 things when accepting a returned unit.
1. Is the shipping package damaged?
2. Does the phone have physical damage. (broken screen, cracked case ..etc. )
3. Does the phone power on?
That's it.. that's all.. nothing else. It is up to the person on the phone to verifiy everything else. If they authorize a replacement, and your phone passes the 3 physical inspections a above, your fine.
Nobody at the warehouse is powering on your phone and looking for root and other garbage.. that's just silly, and Vzw has said as much.
Good luck.

It's the little port on the side of the phone that either lost proper contact with some of the leads inside the board and that's why I have to wiggle it up and down or just a hardware failure not sure how this happen but calling Verizon today and I am going to say it doesn't charge.

Bad usb cord
I go through USB cables very fast. I have had 4 cords wear out on me. I get them form monoprice.com and they are inexpensive. The allow for movement at the connection.
However, if you are using the stock USB cable then this may cause damage to your phone as it has a tighter fit and movement at the connection is less likely as is more likely to transfer any movement into the plug mount in the phone. The plug is not the same as a standard usb plug which has a looser fit and always for movement stress to occur at the connection instead of inside your phone.
After verifying that a new cord will not work and getting your replacement, I recommend not using the stock USB cord on a regular basis. I only use it for connecting to my PC for Modding the phone, where I want a 100% secure connection. I use the standard USB cable for sync'ing to my PC and all other non PC related connections.
From monoprice, I bought a 15ft cord to use with my HDMI Converter. Works great.

So my Prime is dead and can't send it to RMA... what should I do?

My TF Prime is completely dead, it wont even turn on the lights when connected to the charger. I live in Argentina, so my closest Asus Service Center is like 10,000 km away, so send it in for RMA is a no-go. Never again will buy a product that has no warranty in my country, I promise!
The thing died last saturday, when after having troubles to get the cable into the connector, I discovered that the plastic between the pins had broken and some of them where not in their place (already twisted). I got the batteries charged and when I disconnected the charger, there were some sparks. It worked a few more minutes and then it died. No screen, no vibrations, no light when connected to charger. DEAD.
I want to do something, it just kills me to see it dead on my desk. What should I do? I thought that perhaps I can open it, and with the help of a friend with electronic expertise get to know what failed and get it replaced, but it is really risky.
I willing to hear any advise you can give me.
you dont have to send it in yourself, at least not in holland.. just start the rma from the asus website and some transport organisation will pick it up for free (Dhl in my case)
Sounds like the broken connector shorted your battery. Chances are the battery is dead in addition to the borked connector. Let everyone reading this take this as a lesson, be carefull with the fragile dock connector on the bottom of tablet!
Asus RMA may cover it, since its known to be a bad design its not uncommon to see bad connectors. The battery may be thought to be just a bad battery, if i were you i wouldnt say anything about the sparks. Just tell em you were trying to connect the cable as you normally would and noticed it wasnt going in properly, upon further inspection you noticed the plastic bit broke. You might also say you were noticing you had to charge it more often than you thought you should (so they test the battery), let em sort it out from there.
Good luck!

Yes, but there is Asus service in Holland. May it be possible to send a tablet from another country's service center and then have Asus return it back?

Help with micro usb! urgent :(

Somehow the micro usb port on the phone (the charger) has been mashed up inside, i think it may have been due to someone trying to fit the wrong charger into it.
a shop said it'd have to get sent away,
i was wondering if their is a place to send it to get fixed or it it fixable ?
atm im having to charge another battery with a docking station and swap battery's because it wont charge,
it did work a little earlier on today, charging. but i can see the insides are pretty well destroyed.
it looks like the piece can be removed and a new one soldered on,
any ideas ?
thanks.
Honestly, if somone on here knows how to fix hardware issues I am sure they can lend you a hand but otherwise you will have to go to a repair shop and have it serviced. Just make sure that everything is complete stock and bootloader is in locked state just to be safe. If you don't want to send it back through the mail you can always take to a sprint authorized repair shop.
If you want to attempt it yourself here you go

Thanks guys, ive been looking online and some places seem to say they can fix it,
that video is just jokes, he faffs around with the thing im sure he ha no idea what hes doing.
ive found usb ports for other htc models just not the evo 3d.
ive realised it is quite a common problem
its charging via my docking station... just. obviously the internals of the micro usb are mashed up, and i know the replacement needs to be soldered on,
ive looked on some websites but cannot find anywhere to fix it.
its ok atm as its charging via dock, and i have a spare battery, also i can just take out my sd card to add stuff but it i rather annoying abd id like it fixed asap.
You could always use WiFi file explorer,of course WiFi is required but you can read and write the sdcard from your ip address,
Signature (Don't ask me for help, couldn't careless if your phone explodes)
strange thing is its connecting via my dock.. and charging, eventho the insides of the micro usb are mashed up..
it wont work with any other cable just in the dock...
im guessing the dock pin is slightly larger thus allowing a connection ?

[Q] HTC One home made usb otg gone horribly wrong

Okay so I made (tried to make) a USB OTG cable by taking the metal off the outside of the USB connector, then cutting and reconnecting the cable with red on black and green on white so it would be the same polarity as a female USB. i plugged a flash drive up and nothing happened.
Here is where my retarded moment comes in: I HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER WITH THE POLARITY REVERSED!!!!
Now it wont even boot up. :crying:
I have a HTC One (AT&T).
PLEASE HELP!!!
I also don't want to send it back because this will be the third phone in 3 months (1st: xperia tl soft bricked returned 2nd: xperia tl hard bricked returned 3rd: i hope it will still work, but i need your help). . i will take ANYTHING except for taking it apart (that's why there is geek squad but that costs money and I'm broke).
if i need to go into more detail i will but please tell me or else i wont know.
wires:
red----------black
white----------green
black----------red
green----------white
i think it blew a fuse, but if so how would i fix it? does it even have a fuse?:crying:
Oh dear! You've lived up to your name anyway. The phone is frazzled!
Next time get a schematic of the cable wiring or buy a cable. It'll be cheaper in the end.
Your phone shop should replace the phone though - just don't tell them your story

that is not what i wanted to hear but thank you anyways. :crying: :crying:
maybe since it wont boot up at&t wont have any way to know about the unlocked bootloader and cyanogenmod (they let me get a new phone for free even after rooting and bricking both my xperia tl's. All i had to do was say that the update broke itor the battery wouldn't hold any charge.) But I JUST got it two or three days ago so I feel very crappy now.
at least i have google voice on my computer and kindle fire.
WHY DIDN'T I WATCH THE STUPID VIDEO!!!! the answer is i am a freaking idiot.
When you say "phone shop", does best buy fit in that category? or is there any possible way to fix it from home?
