It seems some other guy had the same problem as me..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27199177&postcount=25
i fixed my phone using his instuctions
For those interested in a more detailed explanation:
step 1: download 651.167.3370.XT910.Brasil.en.BR from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1624352
step 2: unpack the zip into a folder
step 3: open 6.5.1-167_SLC-M37_SIGNLATAM_USASPYDRETBRB1B2B5B8B8LA030.0R_USASPYRETBRLA_P021_b8cb72a7e2_HWp2b_CFC_fastboot.xml in a text editor and remove any thing that doesn't mention "ebr", "mbr", and "webtop" it should look like this http://pastebin.com/eGLbNcnq
step 4: flash the xml using rsd lite
step 5: reflash 4.04

I'm not the topicstarter but had the same problem. I used a different ROM (since I live in Europe) but did what you wrote. My Razr Maxx lives again :victory:
Thank you very very very much!!!
Edit: Nevermind, sorted it myself. Thankfully I made backups!
On the off chance anyone else has this problem
1. boot to fastboot
2. Connect USB
3. fastboot flash boot boot.img (replace boot.img with your backup) - This gave me back access to BMM
4. reboot and restore full backup

Sorry for posting in here, but like OP less than 10 post count, so I can't post in the dev forum.
I've run into a similar problem, exact same error code and I have no idea where to go from here.
I had a brand new xt910K with 4.04
I was trying to install Artmod v4.31 from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2260951&nocache=1
Pretty sure I did everything correctly, rooted, installed BMM, factory reset, wipe dalvik/cache, flashed kernel since coming from 4.04, flashed rom, rebooted...
then same error code, and can't get into recovery.
Did backups along the way just in case, but can't access cwm/bmm anymore. I just get that open chest warning sign symbol if I try to boot into recovery.
This is the first time I've actually run into a problem like this, and I have flashed a lot different roms before (last phone was an atrix). So I'm not sure what went wrong.
Any help would be appreciated.

Afraid of kdz updater , here is an alternative to flash rom and recovery
Note: Donot use this method from emergency mode unless you already have a backup of your nv
Note: using this prodcedure there should be no disconnection of phone or power cut.
Using this method you can flash "stock rom + custom recovery" or "stock rom + stock recovery"
DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK, I WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE !!!
download lgmdp : Download Here
1. disable lg modem
( in right click mycomputer->manage->device manager->modems->right click on lg modem disable it)
2. now connect your phone to pc.
3. start lgdmp
4. click "select port"
Phone will be automatically detected press "connect"
(close the pop up window of image select generally you will get it on connect of lgmdp)
5. backup nv for safety (tools->nv backup)
6. After backup , store this nv file somewhere in computer (and remember where you stored lol..)
7. close lgmdp
Now download stockrom+customrecovery
Download v10e ROM(unrooted)(2.2.2) with cwm recovery: Download Here_v10e
(or)
Download v20c ROM(unrooted)(2.3.3) with cwm recovery: Download Here_v20c
Step 1. Extract (use "extract here" for a noob)the downloaded file stockrom+customrecovery
(be sure you have extracted without error in zip extraction and you have all 13 files in extracted folder)
To flash stock rom + custom recovery skip step 2 and follow from step 3 to step 7.
To flash stock rom + stock recovery follow from step 2 to step 7 (including step 3).
Now the extracted folder has stock rom + custom recovery.
Step 2:
2. (a) Download stock_recovery for v10e: Download Here_recovery_v10e
(or) Download stock_recovery for v20c: Download Here_recovery_v20c
(make sure you downloaded correct recovery according to Rom you downloaded)
2. (b) extract the downloaded zip file -> you get recovery.img (this is stock recovery)
2. (c) Now copy this recovery.img file and paste in folder of "stockrom+customrecovery" (which you extracted previously in Step 1) {as their is already a recover.img file in folder it will be copy and replace "for noobs", in this step you replace custom recovery with stock recovery}
Click to collapse
Step 3: start lgdmp
Step 4. click "select port"
Phone will be automatically detected press "connect"
Step 5. select the extracted folder "stockrom+custom recovery" as "image folder or image select" in lgmdp
Step 6. Select "Erase EFS APPS" in drop down box of "NVBackup/Restore"
(Caution : donot select other options they might stuck your phone in air plane mode with no gsm )
Step 7. press start or download
DONOT DISCONNECT YOUR MOBILE UNTILL IT SHOWS DOWNLOAD COMPLETE AT BOTTOM
it shows in middle trying to connect to phone etc. donot touch the phone it will be automatically connect everytime.
After download complete you are done with procedure.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to flash any other stock rom (kdz) file from lgmdp (Check this url)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note : Creating nv with different imei is illegal.
For people who messed up with nv, lost their nv follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=534704 to create nv.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NV will be automatically restored at the end before you see download complete.
If any error occured while restore of nv
follow below steps to restore nv
put the nv file which you backed up in first part of procedure in this order*
create new folder
- rename folder: <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>
- create new folder in <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>
named <port no.> on which your phone is connected
(ex:for com4 name folder as " _COM_4_" (without quotes), you can find
port number when you click on "select port" when connecting mobile to
lgmdp under port column.)
- now place nv2 file in this folder <port no.>
- so now u r nv2 file is in
" \<your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>\<port no.>\ "
- now place lgmdp.exe and <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)> in
new folder
- start lgmdp
- "select port"
- "connect"
- press "NV Restore"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank yoooou!
I cannot express my thanks to you enough. I have been trying to fix my phone for 9 hours now, and every fix I tried didn't work at all. Then I come around to this post thinking "What have I got to lose?" and this is the ONLY fix that WORKED! I still have a thing here or there to figure out for my phone, but I have most functionality back!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Dear Mak,
I did everything as stated (step 1 and 3). Everything went smoothly and after i saw the message "download completed" I quit the lgdmp and switched on my phone. the problem is that it is stuck at the "android screen" and does not do anything else. its just continously showing the flashing android logo. Please help! Thanks in advance!

Donot worry your phone is not bricked, It takes time for first boot sometimes may be around 10 min or so.
Which recovery wer u using ?
custom (skiped step 2) or stock (followed step 2) ?,
if you flashed custom recovery boot into recovery (long press {home+volume down+power} buttons simultaneously) and do "wipe data/factory reset" then "reboot system" ?
Do you have stored that nv file mentioned in first part of procedure ?
If stuck at logo screen, remove battery and start as mak said, (long press {home+volume down+power} buttons .
Worked for me !
My question now is... can i safely update to 2.3.3 romania firmware through the official LG mobile update tool ?
Thanks

Thanks a lot Mak! Your advice worked and phone is now booting. Howver, theres a small catch though. My phone was locked to orange and I thought it would be unlocked after doing sotck rom+custom recovery. I did follow all the steps for step 1 and step 3, but now when Im inserting other sim, it still shows that the phone is network locked. Can you suggest me what to do now? I just want to unlock it and dont know what to do.
Thanks once again, you are a hero!

Let me save you some time: you won't find such information here. Not because it's forbidden or illegal, but simply because it can't be done at software level.
What you need is to find an online service that unlocks your phone via some code they will provide based on your IMEI. There's no way you will find such service for free - if you do, please drop me a message with a link - but at least it will be a hell of a lot cheaper than asking your provider to do it.
Thanks Mak, I had to pay £10 to get the unlock code for my phone. Its working like a charm! Thank you all! You guys are saviours!

Yes you can replace the recovery.
Just replace the recovery.img file, and keep the partition.mbn as it is and flash by same steps as mentioned in this thread.
Is the v10e provided for download an Indian froyo version
Bit Confused....
I think u have made a mistake in labelling the section. At the bottom, where you have titled "To back up nv follow below steps". Isn't that part suppose to be the restoring part? And the top part is the backup part. Am I right or am I just confused?

Okay let's begin,
I've try to remove CWM by using this :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20447149&postcount=47
The first step was okay : 1) Delete file /system/bin/mot_boot_mode
The second : 2) Rename file /system/bin/mot_boot_mode.bin to /system/bin/mot_boot_mode
I've never found mot_boot_mode.bin, so I said to myself ... okay no big deal let me try something else.
I try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385283
RAZR-CWMOnBoot-Remove-J.Y.Daddy.zip
Flash through recovery.
After that i'm stuck at the motorola logo.
What Can I do ?
Thx guy
If your phone won't boot past the Motorola/Dual Core screen then you may need to use the Droid Razr Utility or RSD Lite to flash back to regular old stock.
Droid Razr Utility: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1526113
RSD Lite: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1540648
I can't find any fastboot working on my razr.
I'm using a GSM Razr from Rogers
It always Fail and the status said : Failed flashing process. 1/21 flash mbm"allow_mbmloader_flashing_mbm.bin" -> Phone returned FAIL.

If there wasn't any .bin files to rename that means your stock bootloader wasn't backed up (which is rather strange). You'll have to use RSD to get back to stock and start over again. You may want to consider installing safe strap instead of bootstrap, doesn't mess with OTAs
I'm currently waiting for a factory fastboot cable ... my phone is dead and I've found no way to charged it.
So what you are telling me xXxTehxXx is that if I use RSD and flash this file :
Rogers_XT910_SignedLATAM_167-SLC-M33.1_P042_A014_CFC_1FF_fastboot`
I should be okay ?
So i have 4 XT910S phones. I wanted to put a EU or US firmware on them so they were no longer branded and didnt have all these apps on them.
So here is what I did.
downloaded 4.0.4 CN firmware (unbranded)
Rooted and backed up CDROM file and CID file
Flashed the CN firmware on the XT910S
Using the BT TOOLS trick it boots up fine
Flased CID.IMG through command prompt in windows
Now when it boots it goes straight to fastboot with the error
Invalid CG OTV (CG: cdrom): Invalid SP data
Invalid CG HAB (CG: cdrom, status: 0X0056)
Invalid CG OTV (CG: cdrom)
I tried restoring my original CDROM file but it says the image is larger than the partition.
the original backup CDROM file is 217,088 KB and the one that i am finding with EVERY other firmware is 216,832 KB
I have even tried getting backups of all the CDROM files off the other phones and they are all the same size
The original firmware is 67.42.17.xt910s.skt.en.kr but I cannot find it anywhere to download
HELP
your cid is no longer valid because cid version of xt910s 4.0.4 is 4 and the rom you installed has CID 5
now to bypass boot you will have to boot from bp tools or install boot menu manager after rooting, thats what i am doing
and to get throught that boot failure error

Thanks for the help. I have to ask if there is any way to get it back to normal? I need to sell these phones sadly, not for keeping and personal use. So is there any way to flash back to CID 4? I have experience with hex programming if that helps (I cannot see how C++ or pearl would do any good here).

Your CID isn´t changed and you can´t change it,each phone has its own CID.
Your CDT.bin was changed to 5,china boot and system are signed with secure version 5.
You shouldn´t restore your CID,because you flashed China kernel, then the phone can´t work.
Your option now is to flash EU JB with RSD Lite. Here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/42057363/RSDLite_v6.1.x.zip is RSD Lite 6.1.5 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2231289 are the JB Fastboot files.
still he need to root and install bmm otherwise his only option to boot is bp tools

Motorolla RAZR xt910s Problem
Dear All, I bought Motorolla RAZR xt910s a week ago. I tried installing Cyanogenmod 11 KitKat after rooting and installing CWM Recovery. Rom was successfully installed but the installation of G apps failed so i rebooted it.Now it shows the Motorolla logo screen and then goes black. Also i can enter the recovery menu by 3 key combination. i tried wiping data to factory settings and clearing cache but in vain. Today i tried flashing (using RSD Lite 5.6.4) a stock rom of ICS(4.0.4) and then JB (4.1.2) downloaded from a website but it shows error ''failed 6/12 flashing cdt.bin flash failed..............etc''. I have also tried using fast boot cable/factory cable but now it is giving the error of "read/write failed, unknown error" in moto fast boot and rsd lite software. How can i solve this problem of read write failed unknown error.
Please help on urgent basis... Waiting to hear from you people soon...
Have you tried matt's utility to restore stock ROM? See http://www.droidrzr.com/index.php/topic/764-gsm-xt910-razr-utility/
If successfully restored to stock then root using the utility, but do not install safe strap from the utility. You should then download and install the latest version of safestrap (version 3.65) and install it. See http://rootzwiki.com/topic/104161-recovery-locked-safestrap-recovery-v365-2013-11-13/
I've read that only safestrap works correctly with cm11. So, now use safestrap to install cm11 (and gapps if you wish) in slot 2 (I've read that cm11 works best in slot 2).
Sent from my Droid RAZR Maxx (XT912, spyder) using TapaTalk.

follow the link i gave above in 2nd post
Hello,
since last weekend I'm facing a problem on my Razr XT910 where I could need some help.
Configuration of my phone when I noticed the problem:
Jelly Bean 4.1.2 rootet
Safestrap 2.6.3 installed
@ ROM Slot 1: CM 11 4.4.2 installed
When running CM 11 I noticed that I wasn't connected to GSM or 3G I only had a empty symbol for my GSM/3G connectivity. On the first I didn't care about that, cause it happens sometimes that your carrier has problems with his infrastructure. I startet wondering as my wife called me on our home phone and she's using the same carrier as myself.
So I rebooted to stock rom and whoa there I had the same problem. Then I tooked a look into my settings and there I saw, that there is no information about:
- baseband
- imei
- imei sv
- serial number
- apn
Did a search on the net and found a lot of thread containing my problem, but not one with a solution in it.
What I tried so far is:
- Factory reset on both ROM Slot 1 CM11 and Stock Rom
- Deleting and set up new ROM Slot 1 with CM11
- Unbrick using the method of HSD-Pilot (afterwards rooted and installed bmm)
- Unbrick using the RSD Lite method (afterwards rooted and installed bmm)
- Flash bp using the methods bmm (zip and flash firmware method) and fastboot
with bmm (flash firmware method) I get the following error message while flashing:
assert failed: motorola.motoflash(getprop("firmware.path"))
E: Error in /script/radio.zip (Status 7)
Flashing aborted
with bmm (install zip method) I get the following error message while flashing:
E: Error in /ext/Toolz/Radio/Radio.zip (Status 6)
Installation aborted.
using the fastboot method (fastboot flash radio radio.img) seems to work. After rebooting I see the robot with the spinning atom (blue)? a long time with the indicator below then the lying robot with read triangle is shown really short followed by the first robot with the spinning atom - seem revoking the made changes.
I also tried the following cmd before executing the flash cmd
- fastboot erase cache
Right now I think that something with the radio partition (does one exist?) is not ok. Is there a way to reformat everything or what could I do to solve this problem.
Any help? Any more information needed?
Thanks in advance

Have you tried a FULL FLASH of Moto JB? Flash the latest firmware with RSD Lite and and before delete the parts including "emc..." from the xml file because this would erase your whole internal storage (or make a backup on your computer). After that you will have to root, install latest SS (3.72),etc.

Do you mean that I use a fastboot file from here Droid Developers - Android 4.1.2 Blur_Version.982.124.14.XT910.Retail.en.EU and flash it with RSD Lite?
If yes, that has been done alreade with no effect

Did already tried this with the fastboot method and it didn't work - see my first post quote here:

Hey, i have the same problem. Do you have a solution for this?
I've downloaded the stock ROM from the acer site, put it on my SD card and went into recovery to apply the update from the sdcard. When trying to update I got the following error:
e: footer is wrong
e: signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Now, I've searched everywhere and tried at least 20 different things without anything working. I've unlocked the bootloader and flashed the boot.img which was inside the update file I downloaded from the acer site, I've tried flashing certain files seperatly etc. Another problem is, there is no system.img or recovery.img or any other img file in the stock rom from acer which doesn't allow me to flash it via the fastboot. So either I need to find those img files, or I need a fix for the error above.
Any suggestions?
(One more thing, I really can't try using a custom recovery to disable signature verification because the Liquid Z330 is such an unsupported phone, there is no cwm or twrp recovery for it. I also don't wanna risk trying another phone's cwm or twrp on the Z330 because I don't have the stock recovery.img file in case it doesn't work.)
UPDATE: I found an older version of twrp for the phone and I was able to disable signature verification but when trying to install the zip I get this error log:
Updating partition details...
*in red* E: Unable to mount '/system'
...done
Full SELinux support is present.
MTP Enabled
Installing '/sdcard/update.zip'...
Checking for MD5 file...
Skipping MD5 check: no MD5 file found
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/update.zip'
Any new suggestions as to what might be the problem?
Update2:
So after Ysfzone posted this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general/acer-liquid-z330-unbrick-unlock-t3520952
I was able to restore my acer liquid z330.
I did actually run into some trouble with Ysfzone's instructions, and found a way around it, it should be the second comment on the post.
My only problem now is that the system is restored it's booting into demo mode. When I try to update it downloads the update and reboots into TWRP and when I then reboot to the system it says that the install failed. I think it would automatically install the update with the stock recovery but because I have TWRP installed I have to find the downloaded update file and install it manually.
So I have two options:
Either someone tells me where the update download folder is, or someone provides me with the stock recovery.
Any help?
Exactly same issues
Hey there!
I have the exact same issues. I have been trying to unbrick my phone, but nothing has actually worked. My phone is still stuck on the white screen with the acer logo.
Did you make any progress?
Were you able to find out anything that works??
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks
MK

(If you don't want to read the story, read the last sentence.)
I actually was able to get rid of the MD5 check error by creating a MD5 file myself. You basically have to download an application that gets you the MD5 sum. I used this: http://www.fast-files.com/getfile.aspx?file=127067 (just reuploaded it because I forgot where I got it from). Using the exe file in there I generated the MD5 file in this format: d2a862b7c1a8f66b6d1be32f400dc73e *update.zip. After that I tried installing the zip again, this time I got the same error except with the MD5 error missing. After contacting Acer support, I was basically told that I needed to send my info back so I could get contacted for a repair. But since I flashed the recovery it probably wouldn't fall under warranty.
So basically try emailing Acer support and try and get them to repair it. I havent found a way to fix it myself.
One more thing. It wasn't my phone to begin with, I just tried to fix it for someone. That person already has a new phone and I won't be trying anything anymore to fix the phone since I don't have it anymore.
Hello everyone,
I've been in the same situation as you until few hours.
I've also tried a lot of things which doesn't work at all ( like extracting system.img from the Acer update.zip ).
I've seen that every time I tried to install an update.zip package I get the same error:
E: footer is wrong.
E: signature verification failed
And I solved it by unzipping and zipping it again.
Then when I was able to flash it and get my phone back.
if it still doesn't work with the stock recovery, you may try with a custom recovery ( like twrp, you can easily find it on google )
If you have any questions about it, I can try to answer them.
Hope it'll help !

Thanks for the suggestion. Just out of curiousity I guess I'll ask the phone back and try it.
I've tried it again, but the problem isn't because the signature verification fails, its something else. Idk what.
Hello Mounir9912,
Have you try to re-download the file from acer website, or/and to check the zip file with winzip or winrar ?
I've read that you created a md5 file, for my part I just disable md5 verification from TWRP.
It seems like you've got a system mount error, do you still get it if you wipe all partition on your phone (system, cache, data, dalvik cache) ?
Finally, I don't know if it can be useful, but I have a TWRP backup of my z330
I'll stay available if you still have trouble.

You might just be the godsend I needed. I've already tried everything you said including wiping and disabling the verification. Could you upload the twrp backup somewhere? It might be the only thing that can save this phone aside from paying way too much money to acer because of a voided warrantee.
Hello Mounir9912,
Here the link to download the twrp backup of my z330:

Thanks, I'll try it when I get home (in a few hours)
damn, mega is being an asshole. I downloaded it but while downloading I accidentally unplugged the power cable from my laptop and it shut down so I had to redownload. When I downloaded again it cut me off at like 90% because of exceeding the bandwidth quota of 5GB. Now I have to either pay a monthly fee or wait 5 hours...
Hey pixie,
I've actually restored it via twrp, but it still isn't booting past the logo. Could you maybe make a backup of all the partitions except the boot, system and data partitions? The problem is probably in one of those partitions since restoring the boot or system didn't fix it.
more specifically, the ones I could backup are:
Modem, Aboot, pad, modemst1, modemst2, misc, splash, fsg, persist, cache, devinfo, oem
Hi, i'm in the same problem can you give me the link of official rom ? Plz

https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/6358?b=1
Its under "OS"
Or direct download link:
http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...30&Step3=Z330&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=EMEA_27
Done Done Done !!!!!!
i fixed this problem wooow !!!!!!
This is how to unbrick Acer Liquid Z330
1- Download Official Rom from here : https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/support-product/6358?b=1
2- Download this tool from : http://www.stupdroid.com/2016/10/tool-systemnewdat-into-flashable-img.html
3- Download python (required for tool in step 2) : https://www.python.org/downloads/
4- Download Drivers the link on step 1
5- Download and install Fastboot (Search for it)
6- Create new Folder and put into all files on tool (step2) and file_contexts + system.new.dat + system.patch.dat + system.transfer.list from the Official rom
7- now launch "system.new.dat 2 flashable img converter" and tap any key and wait... after you got 2 files.. you need just the file called system.new.img
8- move system.new.img to fastboot/adb folder and rename it to system.img
9- enter phone to fastboot mode and type this command :
fastboot -w
fastboot flash system system.img
10- now just wait and don't worry about messages from fastboot...
11- after you finishing type: fastboot reboot
and wait between 5/10 mins for phone booting..
and DONE !!
Sorry for my bad english
Now my phone stuck on demo mode.. i want the stock recovery.img
hello,
first sorry for the delay.
As far as i remember, I've checked all when I backup the phone. But all that things you list are not unknown, I've seen them when the phone was still bricked. By the way, I even made a backup at this moment, so if you think that it can be useful..
Ysfzone, have you try to use qfil to get you're stock recovery ?
