HDMI Out? Mistaken? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Just brought cable to connect my S2 to my monitor via HDMI.
Now it can display video however, I was hoping I could use my S2 as a portable computer i.e browser, email etc but none of this works?.
Is this no possible or simply due to the rom I'm using?.
Thanks

HDMI works properly only on stock firmware.

Stock, how come?.
EDIT:So I suppose I need to go back to stock OS then. Damn, I don't have a laptop and was hoping to use the S2 as my mini computer.
Does anyone know where I can get a stock OS without all the bloatware or is that impossible, and is it a case of flashing it back to stock?

Blown Mini USB Drive

So my G-Tablets mini-usb drive got blown out by my desktop today when I was transferring files.. smelled like burning.. blew out my usb drive on my desktop too.. is it possible to reload stock TnT without flashing via usb? I can get the rom off of dropbox but I'm not sure if it will replace my boot screen or if it will even work when properly.
The reason I ask is I'd like to send it over to Viewsonic for repairs but I'm assuming they won't do any repairs if there's a custom rom on it.
Any help is greatly appreciated,
Thanks
I dont think you can.
Unless you can find a CWM version of TnT.

[Q] Is there something like ODIN that runs on an Android tablet?

At present I use a netbook to run ODIN so that I can update my I9100 etc.
I would like to be able to use my Android tablet to do this.
Is this possible? i.e. is there s/w like Odin or Heimdall that will run on my tablet and connect to/update my i9100?
I realise that there is Odin mobile which runs on the i9100 but I would still like to be able to run something on an external device in case of a bad flash on i9100.
Thanks

Now from a present and future viewpoint, this would be ideal.
I wouldn't mind ditching the PC very soon, and for that to happen, would need a desktop replacement for Odin.
Anyone know of any development?
Hi upintheair, that's exactly my point. If there was a suitable Odin-like app for my tablet I could put my NetBook on Ebay & recoup some cash

Something like this is very unlikely.
First off, the device running the flashapp would need to have USB OTG / host (ok, I think most tablets do, but I'm not sure).
The bigger problem would be: drivers!
You'd also need some kind of USB drivers for the device you want to flash (the S2 in this case).
Doubfull anyone would do it.
Not impossible, just doubtfull.
There's Mobile ODIN (paid) and SGS Kernel Flasher (free), but I doubt that latter exists for SGS2. Still, it's worth a shot...
@HellcatDroid My tab does have USB OTG but you are right about the drivers. I know it's possible to install a "virtual ubuntu" under android so maybe this would let me run Heimdall? I might give this a go.
@Prasad007 Those are both designed to run on the SGS whereas I want something that runs on an external tab.

This would be great
I am also looking at trying to flash using my tablet, i spend alot of time "fixing "ppl's phones and use a netbook at present, but find it so slow and sometimes seems to stall. I have descovered that adb works great on my Asus Slider (somebody had to get one, and i love it!) but would like to be able to get ODIN working as well.
Any progress / ideas on getting it to work?
Also would a Android tablet need the drivers as it is running Android, and has the adb drivers on it?

Usb Problem

Hi there is it possible that that someone could mess up a samsung galaxy s2 by flashing an incorrect rom to it?
I bought one second had and the phone chrges fine but always says device not recognised when plugged in via usb.
Thanks rob
Yes, of course. If you flash wrong, your phone can brick. Try to flash an original rom without mods, using Odin, and see how your phone behaves. If it's ok, with the USB connection working, then you flash a custom rom and can really expect it to be fully functional.

[Q] Device Not Recognized - XXDLIH

Hi Everyone. I'm having a problem with my i9300 since upgrading to Jelly Bean (XXDLIH).
I am 100% stock and unrooted (due to work email restrictions) and had bit the bullet and installed the XXDLIH upgrade via Odin.
Everything went well and the phone is pretty much working perfectly, with 2 exceptions:
1) The phone doesn't recognise it's attached to a dock when in my iBolt dock in the car - I've read a response from iBolt and this seems to be an issue on Samsung's part with the Jelly Bean upgrades. Now I can live with this as I can always upgrade via Odin to the next big thing when it's released right? Nope, see exception 2:
2) No matter what I do, I can't seem to get my computer to recognise the phone when it's connected via USB. It keeps throwing the USB device not recognised error.
Now I've tried three different USB cables and 2 different computers. USB debugging is enabled and the developer option switch is on. The phone pulls a charge from the computer and I can hear the computer ding when the device is connected.
I have factory reset twice.
I've tried the Kies troubleshooter which re-installed the drivers, I've also uninstalled and re-installed Kies.
I've also tried connecting with the phone in download mode and the PC still won't find it.
I've seen Odin available in Play, but to use it I've got to root my phone, which will then cause me all sorts of ball ache due to my phone no longer adhering to corporate policy.
Is there anyone out there that can help out?
Thanks
Mike.
Just one more question on this, if it's not possible to fix the USB issue, is it possible to flash a stock firmware image via the stock recovery?
Thanks
Mike.
How can you be using stock JB when we don't have stock JB in Australia yet? What ROM did you flash?

I grabbed the XXDLIH upgrade package and flashed with Odin.
Mike.
EDIT: It was the I9300XXDLIH_I9300VDSDLI1_VDS package.

S6 Edge USB problem

Hi everyone,
Had this problem for a while now, my Samsung S6 Edge performed an overnight update to Android 7.0 and ever since the USB port does not work for data transfers. Charging works fine. Also Samsung GEAR VR doesn't work.
I had the port replaced twice, no change. I tried three different windows based PCs different cables everything reinstalled the driver, even tried a Mac computer, and still not working
OTG devices also don't work.
I think its a corrupt android partition maybe but the problem is I can't flash another android ROM onto it because ODIN doesn't see the phone either (lol)
Is there any way of getting android flashed on it another way? I would be happy to try a custom ROM if I could figure out how to flash it
Also the phone isn't rooted unfortunately
Many thanks Paul

Go to developer options and then change USB configuration. Try that see if it helps.
