Mobile Network No Signal At ALL - Legend Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay well my HTC Legend has almost no signal or occasionally 1 bar signal. While on the SAME plan and network, my Nexus S has full bars. This is a twin plan so everything is identical. I havent rooted it yet since it will void the warranty. Will reflashing the radio once its rooted fix the problem?

i'd first check the battery cover, it serves as an antenna too, maybe the contacts are broken or they don't reach each other...

I've tried that. Im pretty sure the points touch each other. Sometimes there is no signal at all while other times there is only 1 bar.

then try uodating your radio, i'm pretty sure you'll find all the info you need in the development section, but if you get stuck, feel free to ask.

[Q] phone hanging up about every 8-10 minutes

i got an eris and no matter what rom (2.0/2.1/2.2/2.3) they all drop a call after about 8-10 minutes of talking... i have tried a different prl, and tried 3 different baseband versions, all still have the dropped call issue. and i have about 4 bars when it drops, so bad signal isnt the problem.
anyone know what could be causing this?
if not does anyone know if there is a log file or something that would say what caused the dropped call?
if there's something wrong with the hardware i guess i'm going to have to find a used moto droid to replace it

Is there one or two locations where you get more dropped calls than anywhere else, like your home, work, etc? Have you noticed what your signal is like before the call drops?
Are you sure your using your Eris and not an iPhone? No but seriously, I know you said you don't think signal is a factor but I believe it is. Either bad reception or faulty hardware.

i tried duplicating the dropped call while i ran alogcat, i had my gf's phone and mine just laying on the computer desk for over 45 minutes and it wouldn't drop the call >.< i even picked the phone up shaked it, slapped it, turned it... all to see if there was something loose inside and it wouldn't drop it...
ill just have to check logcat right after a dropped call and if logcat doesnt show anything ill be leaving htc and getting a moto =P
I have the same issue. I'm using CM7 v. 3.8

What area are you in? People are having service problems on inc as well and it was determined that it was the area they were in was having issues not the phones. I think they were in the Detroit area if I remember correctly and even people without rooted phones were having the same problems.

Radio Issue

Ok so today out of no where my phone just stopped talking calls, cant make calls, i can recieve texts but i cant send them. I also cant open my text inbox.. for example if i click on a contact inside the inbox, it just says loading and the green icon just spins and does nothing..
i reflashed my same radio i used thinking it was a problem there, but it hasnt fixed anything..
also i noticed that on my lock screen right above the time it does not say verizon wireless anymore, it just shows the time and date.. it used to say it above the clock.
im running bamf and have loved it for quite some time now, until this just happened..

You say you don't see VZW on the lockscreen. Have you check to see if maybe your phone is roaming or out of service area?

haha I can see the reply being "I fixed it.. Had to mail my first born child to Verizon. Phone works again.."
On a serious note, that is odd that it just randomly happened. Did you flash anything new or remove anything?
Somehow one of my lte settings on my banf menu changed by its self.. so it was one of the settings where their was no 3g or 4g and no service either, like the 4th from the top..
either way the phone works again now because i use the cdma auto/prl (i think) one so i always use my phone in 3g, but the internet hasnt came back on yet.. i tried the first choice and the 4g one (cdma/lte auto) or whatever it is and i cant get 3g or 4g..
can anyone recommend me a good radio to use. my phone just has 2.3.4 and bamf gingeremix on it, if i have to be more specific i can to try and narrow the best radio for my phone.. i guess i might as well ask what is the "best" Radio?
What are the significances of the different ones? like range or service quality.. thats the only thing i dont understand..

All radios work differntly with each thunderbolt. best way to test is run each radio for a few days and find the best one for your individual phone. Best of luck
Since your running 2.3.x you will need to make sure you load a MR2 or greater radio. I don't think Froyo radios will not work on GB. I'm no expert on any of this yet still learning the ins and outs. I remember reading that on one of the forums I frequent though.

Any solution to weak WiFi signal gain ??

hello every one
it seems that almost anyone who has a Galaxy s3 suffers from weak wifi signal gain.I have searched internet and find a possible solution which I think it has nothing to do with weak signal but wifi speed, anyway it says type *#0011# and press option touch key and go to wifi and turn off the power saving mode.
I have done that but i dont see any diffrence in signal quality !
I have a TP-Link wifi modem in my room, when i'm in room signal quality is 5/5 or rarely 4/5 bars but when I go out off room it falls to 1/5 and rarely 2/5 bars !
has anyone found any solution to this problem ?
by far it is the worst Wifi i have ever seen, and should not be with this kind of phone with such a high price
It is possible that your Wi-Fi antenna is connected to the main board via conductive rubber. Which is a poor choice. This was the case for my phone and the GPS antenna. I have no possibility to check this. But it sounds like so.
Cheers.

Apart from the fact that your post is wrong with false claims .
You can try changing your Kernel as that is responsible for the WiFi .

I have no issues with wifi signal / strenght.
I did however upgrade to a 32gb model and restored my old cwm backup. After that wifi was horrible but a factory reset fixed it.

Isn't this just going to drain the battery much quicker?
I don't have a problem with Wi-Fi. I'm in the upstairs room right now, which is above the router (the signal is going through the floor) both my PC and phone get full signal.

SELL IT .
Every Samsung phone I've ever had has shown at least one less bar than my old iPhone(sorry) at the same distance from the router. Sometimes I'm only say a few metres away and it drops a bar, however the speed seems to be identical no matter how many bars it shows.

Pretty sure that's because iPhones now intentionally raise the signal meter so people don't complain about antennagate (that was their solution to it).

[Q] Signal Problems. Caused by hardware problem?

Dear Forum members,
I know this is a very common problem/ question. But looking through the forum I was not able to sovle this problem myself.
So the problem is I have no reception neither in my flat nor at work. This makes my phone kind of useless.
I recently tried out several modems but could not achieve anything with that.
My gf has a I9100 as well with the same provider (O2, Germany). She has pretty good signal quality in our flat while my cell has none (even with exact same baseband phones next to each other).
So I can only guess that it is a hardware issue. What do you think?
Btw, outdoors of our building I have 100% signal H+ (I'm living kind of in the middle of Berlin).
Your help is very appreciated here. Cheers,
lennart
I have a I9100 with
CM 10.1
Build numer 20130112

Seriously, this issue started when? It's just weird that you don't get any signal indoors, but your girl, with the same device as you, does.
If warranty isn't voided...I'd pay the store a visit.
Could there be a problem with the antenna? Would be worth the try to buy a new one?

Is your warranty voided? How long has it been since you got any signal at your place/work?
Did you change some part recently, like speaker/usb flex? Did you try to use the external antenna?
Don't even dream of messing with the antenna unless you're absolutely certain your warranty is no good (damage to the phone caused by normal use/misuse or warranty period expired).
If your warranty is good, use it.

Okay, full story: I bought the phone used 2 weeks ago from some guy. I tested it with him outside. Worked great Took it home and recognized that signal quality is bad. No warrenty at all. And I found that 1 of the 7 screws was missing. So I'm not the first who opened it I guess.
Maybe something was exchanged but I don't know. Think it would be of any good to exchange speaker/usb flex?
New ones are below 10€ so I could give it a try.
Thanks for your replies!

[Q] GPS Won't Connect, Tried (Just About) Everything

For the past couple of weeks my GPS hasn't been able to connect to any satellites. For quite some time I was running Tachyon 1.2 (while I was S-On) with no problems. Then, one day I'm out of state and really need my GPS and it simply won't connect to any satellites. I've tried many different things to try to get GPS working. I've tried flashing CM 11, LiquidSmooth 3.2, down to Tachyon 1.1.5 all to no avail. I've used: GPS Assist, Both GPS Status programs I found in the Google Play Store (the blue one and the one with a gray/orange satellite dish looking thing), and the GPS Fix app from the play store. I recently used REV3NT3CH's guide to downgrade and factory reset my HTC Rezound. It's weird being back to stock, but GPS still does not work. I have also tried switching back covers with someone else who has a Rezound...again nothing. I am now S-Off with a relocked bootloader.
My phone is from Verizon and I'm now on the stock 4.0.3 and the HTC Sense version is 3.6
Software number: 4.03.605.2 710RD
HBOOT-2.28.0000
RADIO-2.23.10.0123r/2.23.10.0124r
I'm rooted and using TWRP 2.7.0.1 for recovery
I was wondering if there's anything else I should try, or if there's a .zip or .apk I can flash that will help the GPS?
This is my first time posting, but I've been looking on these forums for years...ever since I got a HTC Droid Eris a very long time ago!
It actually sounds like you are not making contact GPS antenna contacts in the back cover... check your contacts for a solid connection, corrosion, or try another back cover. I am not saying it's not possible for the GPS receiver to go bad, but I can't recall hearing of one doing it in the Rezound, but I can tell you that, just like the other radios in this handset, if you take off the back cover, don't have it on solid, use an aftermarket back cover, or anything else causing a bad connection, it will fail to get signal.

I appreciate you getting back to me. I use the standard back cover, and I have tried a different back cover from another HTC Rezound. Do you know which connections I should take a closer look at? Looking at the connections, they look good, clean and gold...no corrsion or anything like that. Both back covers look identical as far as the where they connect with the antennas.
Sorry, I do not know which it is, and I may have been wrong... This is the only image I could find with labels and GPS is not one of them from what I can tell

Been thinking about the HTC One or the LG G2. I'm still going month-to-month on an unlimited data plan (from Alltel) on Verizon, so I'm looking for a phone that's a little more reasonable in price...been looking on Swappa for a little bit. Recommendation on either of those two phones?

If you are into rooting and romming, go with the HTC One M7, its a solid device. The G2 is great, although custom ROMs have a tendency to break the GPS and occasionally the screen (search out G2 screen lines on custom ROM and you will see what I mean), but even with that said the G2 is a solid device and the battery life is astounding... We have both in my family, my son has the One and I have the G2 as a work phone, as well as one of my other sons and his mom have the G2.
