Is it possible that if i use another device charger like blackberry or whatever compatible may give me a better battery life ? I saw on x8 forums a guy claimed using an htc charger and posted a screenshot where it showed up to 6 days of usage !

The charger is just a simple 5 volt power supply.
The charging circuits are in fact integrated into the device/phone itself.
You woulnd't be able to affect the battery capacity in any way by using a different charger.
I'd say that claim about improved battery life due to changing the charger is very unlikely. I'd call it a fake.
Perhaps improve charging time, but not improving battery capacity.

oooh thanks because the guy said the other charger was way more powerfull and it overcharged which caused an extreme change in his battery life but thanks anyways

Overcharging a lipo battery in a device such as the X10 (Lithium Polymer) would end up in either one of these scenarios:
Scenario 1: Phone and battery overheats, thermal protection kicks in and disables charging permanently.
Scenario 2: Phone and battery overheats, frying the internal charging circuits. Permanent damage.
Scenario 3: Phone and battery overheats, causing an explosion. Worst case: exploded battery catches fire.
Battery fires are tricky to put out and can cause major damage, not only to the device, but also to everything around it.
Don't worry tho.
As long as the charger, or whatever power supply you're using, gives 5 volt DC with correct polarisation, you'll be safe.
But as soon you fiddle around with different voltages, specially anything higher than 5 volts, it starts getting dangerous.

Okay so I've this problem where my battery discharges while charging!
I had this problem since wednesday that time I was on stock... So I thought flashing a custom ROM now as of now i'm on SonyStyle still the same problem,
let me elaborate my problem a bit more
-To monitor how much current is discharging n charging! -498 mA while discharging n -298 mA while charging it normally
-So next thing I tried is to charge it while being switched off, most of the times it wont charge n when it'll charge it'll reach some point n starts discharging! Discharging even when its off and plugged to the charger! BIZZARE isnt it?
-Now in order to put it on chrging i've to reboot it couple of times untill battery monitor widget shows +current... N when it reaches 100 it'll begin to discharge like it'll be empty in 1nhalf hour
-ALSO I'VE TURNED OFF ANYTHING THAT SUCKS BATTERY! AND I'M NOT USING MY DEVICE WHILE CHARGING! ALSO IT DISCHARGES WHILE BEING ON CHARGER IN A switched off state.

You might try resetting your battery stats on clockworkmod or xrecovery. Charge until 100% and let it discharge naturally to switch off, allow a few days of charge cycling and it should be ok.
Lipoly batteries dont trickle charge. If you leave your phone on charge for 8 hours it will just switch off the charger, discharge for awhile and then switch back on the charger. Most take 1 to 1.5 hours to charge, so if you leave it plugged in you will be charging/discharging about 6 times in that period. Lipoly have a limited number of charges before they diminish, usually about 500. So if you leave it plugged in you can reduce your battery life span considerably - otherwise it should last a good year and a half before it wears out.
Dont ever try to trickle charge, overcharge or manually discharge a lipoly battery as they have a tendancy to explode.
The good news is lipoly batteries are cheap to manufacture. You should be able to pick up a decent bst-38 (or substitute) on ebay/amazon for around 15-20 euros. Dont be hoodwinked into the 2000mAh batteries, most are fake. My 970mAh can last 2 days on Gintonic rom.

I had a similar problem with the battery discharging whilst charging.
For me the problem turned out to be my USB cable becoming faulty. It would still transfer data when connected to a computer, but would get a similar problem to the one you describe when charging. Might not be the same problem for you though.
I am now experiencing this problem. I think it is my usb cable too. Will buy another 1 soon. It discharges then charges again when I pull out the cable and plug it in again.

Well already tried wiping battery stats
heres what I've discovered till now
-The charge current drops as if the battery is at 91% but it isnt even close
-It is either the battery is sending wrong data to charger, or it is faulty
-Not able to explain how n why it discharges even a switched off state???
-Only solution I can think is a charging dock for BST-38

If I leave my cell on charging for 8 hours, then after 8 hours my battery will be zero... It'll keep blinking the red light for hour or more... See thats a wicked problem...
happened to me also, had to use a better cable (don't use thin and/or long cables)
Yeah I tried with a Nokia made cable and its charging flawlessly! This is my first time with a Non-Nokia n so far the experience is not very good!

- similar (identical) problem, tried similar resolutions (factory reset/sdcard/sim removing/different chargers/battery replacement)
- disassemble my phone... and found out, that micro usb connector replacement is unrealistic.
- watched charge/discharge/voltage/current/temperature process trough battery monitor widget (1 minute sampling)..
- re-calibrated battery many times
RESOLUTION : micro usb connector or connections in mobo is dead. I build charger with current meter. No matter, what says my phone about charging (pluged in - discharging)- any information displayed delays for minutes on phone. IF my external current meter says - "charging", than phone state is "CHARGING" independent from what phone is displaying at the moment. Moving usb charging connector in phone causes current to stop flying to phone or reducing current value. Phone still says "plugged in" and or "charging" on "discharging"...
Temporary resolution: little pushing/deformation on charging connector (male) and LED in charging chain, witch is displaying - charging or not. Every time connecting charger i'm looking on indicator LED and moving charge connector, till LED says "charging" and then no more any moves on phone.
Future resolution: contact-less charging trough inductive coupling
I love my Mega. It is by far the best phone Ive ever had. But, the problems I have with the power usage and management on the device are a total nightmare.
1) The discharging nightmare:
The battery lasts NOTHING. Basically I get about 5 hours of use.. maximum.. no matter what I do.. and I have slimmed down to the ROM to having that NOTHING active.. I literally am left with active 6 services and I monitor CPU usage that is always near zero with NO apps hogging resources. From what I monitor on the device's battery usage, it's clearly always about 90% from the display! And yes, I dim the screen as much as I can of course, but usually not below 1/2way.. I hate screens too dim. However even just on standby with the screen off I still lose about 5% to 8% of battery an hour. Worse, even with the device Powered OFF, I still lose about 20% of battery a day. The ONLY way I have found out to control battery drain completely, is to take the battery out. That's it. Anyone else with similar symptoms and a fix or, is just that the stock battery totally sucks??? Also, any other off brand batteries are any better?.. (not the fat ones rated at much higher amps but that have an extra bulge.. that I don’t want)..
2) The charging nightmare:
This to me is the worse problem. It is bad enough how quickly this device issues battery, bit not nearly as bad as trying to charge efficiently again. I now have tried 3 different chargers/brands (and cables) to try fix the charging problem that is, it takes HOURS and HOURS to charge the battery. I am talking 5 to 6 hours to get it charged and if the screen is on and Im using the device it actually charges NOTHING at all and still keeps discharging (albeit much slower of course)... the fact is that the charging process is so pathetically slow that is less than real-time which means, with the device connected to power supply, the battery STILL drains if I try use it. This is absurd. However, mysteriously enough I have found ONE way that charges the phone super fast.. using a SONY External Power Pack (model CP-F1L) rated at 2200mAh. This is seems crazy because the power output of an external power pack should be much lower than the stock (and other Samsung) USB chargers.. but, it's what works.. the ONLY thing that works. And I have noticed that when connected to a USB Power charger, the Mega's Red LED light turn on faded.. however, when connected to the SONY External Power Pack, is bright red. Clearly more juice going in.. or something like that. Again, anyone else with similar symptoms and a fix the charging time, or, any good recommendation on a extra strong USB power adapter/charger that will make this thing at least charge faster?

Sounds like something is not letting your phone sleep or the battery is defective. Try putting CPU spy on it and let it set for a while. Then check to see if it is getting into deep sleep or if it is even stuck at a certain frequency.
There is an app on the playstore called Galaxy charging. Try it to see what rate it is charging. Though with the rate your phone discharges, the charger may only being supplying an amount just over the drain rate which is why it takes so long to charge.

I would flash the stock rom back into your phone and see how the battery works then as this not normal as mentioned by other members as I am still on the stock rom but rooted only and I have great battery life.
That is were to start by flashing the stock rom and if no change then battery or maybe a hardware problem.
Did you have good battery life before you starting flashing with the phone or did this occur after the stock rom was removed and custom rom with stuff removed to gain performance?

You could try to remove the battery from the phone for about 5 secs and re-install and see it that helps as sometimes if you take the charger off as soon as it is done charging it might not show 100% at times when booting as I leave mine on for a bit longer and it seems to help..even though charge light is green..I leave it longer on.
If your phone is rooted get a app called battery calibrator from the google store as it is free and install it and just before you shut down the phone to charge wipe the battery stats with this app and then shutdown phone and fully charge and then see how the battery works after the battery stats wipe as that can usually help.

Thanks for the tip. Installed the app you recommend, now I understand better. With the stock Samsung USB charger I get 420 readings. With the other 2 chargers I get 500 and 540. However, with the Sony External Power Pack I get 1900!..no wonder it charges super fast with it! My question now is what's up with all the USB chargers I have? I even tried my old Galaxy Tab 7 charger (strongest rated charger I have) and still only feeds 480. This is all so bizarre. So, where to get a super strong charger for the Mega?

Usually when this happens there is something wrong with the USB cable not necessarily the charger. Is the sony cable a USB type cable or a hard wired one? If it is USB type try using it with the other chargers and see what your results are.

Yes indeed I notice the Sony Power Pack cable is short and thick. The Samsung cable is long and thin. I get much higher charging power using the thick short cable. Maybe I need go shop for a proper longer/thicker cable.

I've certainly found the USB cable makes a big difference to the charging speed. I got a couple of 2m cables off Ebay and they're hopelessly slow, but the stock Samsung cable is fast. I just wish it was a bit longer!
I have the same issue
I have the Sprint Mega. Not refurbished and original factory state but I have horrific charge/discharge issues. Right now, my phone just got to 100% charge which I then unplugged the charge cable. Within 5 mins, I went from 100% to 96% and it is losing battery even quicker.
VeEuzUKY: It's been a while but do you still have this phone? Any updates? I should prob invest in a thicker USB cable like you've describe. It has the most charge rate.
I got my mega 6.3 last week. Since then it has said 100% charged... even when charging or dead. So I got a new battery thinking it was the battery but its obviously not and im not sure what it is that could be the problem. Im not sure if its crucial for my phone, if it can be fixed easily and cheaply, or if I need to return my phone to the place I bought it from.
Hello, My phone problem is, whenever i charged my phone to any certain percentage like 80%, 90%, 100%, and unplugged the charger and using the phone, first 5-10 minutes its consume 5-6% battery and first 1 hour of using its consume 10-12%.
This problem happening to all roms including stock rom

Does the fone heat up at all when it's draining?
Is there an extra slight BULGE at the back of fone?
I know some charger's, like the iphone chargers, can and do lose their amperage, it's how they sell more charger's, by providing the volts but not the required amps, or in this case, milliamps.

My phone is 11 months old, and the battery type is Li-ion battery
no heat up while charging and discharging
cant sure is the phone slight BULGE at the back of fone?
By bulge, I mean, does it feel slightly fatter? Bigger? Swollen? can you take battery out, if so, is it neat and tidy, as in, lay battery on a flat surface, it should be flush with where you place it. If it's flat, turn it over, is it still flat?
Have you had any recent updates?

no its not slightly fatter and my phone has glass back panel.....yeah got new updates,but the problem is on every roms
but some custom kernel like etherious and agni kernel...the battery draining normally
So if your battery was getting fat, it would be time to replace it, but due to glass back, you cant tell.
Do you standard charge, or turbo charge?
Back in the 80's, I learnt a fantastic trick, read:
Batteries develop 'memory'. They remember how long they were charged for, in that they kind of copy the previous charge, and dont go further than where the previous charge was halted. Meaning if I'm in a hurry, and pull out fone at 60% charge, next time I plug it in, it MAY see the 60% previously disconnected, as full charge.
For instance, I buy a new battery, when I get it, I dont know how long it sat on the shelf for, as it's charge slowly dissapaited through non-use (yes this happens) while sitting on shelf. So when I get the battery, the first thing I do, is place an electrolytic capacitor (valued around double the voltage of the battery) and place negative of capacitor to negative and positive to positive on battery, the idea being to drain it completely. Once I get no power from battery, I then charge it for 24 hours.
This erases the 'memory' the battery develop's, making it like new from factory. The above is the 80's version of recycling a car battery. But you cant drain the battery, being sealed in your f'n, so try the following:
Grab a usb adapter, say a 4 port (mines a 7 port), and plug your powered on f'n into it, whilst filling the other ports with any other usb devices, the more power they need, the quicker you drain your fone., being the objective.
Do not plug the usb port itself into ANYTHING, and do NOT apply power to the hub.
Leave until nothing lights up plugged into the hub (have a thingy with lights plugged in to see the power drain).
Look for a 3.5mA usb charger, the type used for tablets, the amazon fire tablets charger is ideal for this. Once you have completely drained battery and know nothing else works cause your fone cant supply the other devices any power, plug your f'n into the 3.5 mA (milli-amp) charger, and charge for 48 hours.
This is the electronics engineering method of renewing a battery.
My scource is an old '80's magazine, co-incidently, I'm in same edition called CB magazine, the first ever printed version of how to make a battery like new. I hope this works, cause I dont know the actual fone, but if you do this, you'll have the added advantage of knowing you just 'made' a new battery, and learnt not to buy sealed fones where you cant release the battery to swap it.
As I say, if it's a hardware problem, you'll know after this.
Edit: I know apple mess with the charging cycle to make people buy new iphones, which they do in updates. Your problem MAY actually be this.

So in short You tell me to do that is, i have to connect a usb hub to my phone and discharging all the battery. then i have to charge my phone at least 48 hours/2 days?
Yup. If you take your time, and it's not hardware or update related, you'll be glad you did. At the very least, you make your battery brand new for sure.
Whilst googling, I found some saying some optimisation service wont stop, but hey, it's now down to you to help yourself

and also i dont have any 3.5 ma charger....can i charge my phone on pc usb port

Yeah it works with EVERY battery made by man, unless it really is DEAD, like no acid to react to the li-ion, shame we cant add water like the car batteries of that time to prolong the battery life lol, back then was poor days, lots of handy finds were found...
I would not recommend the pc/laptop method, because I'm pretty sure those usb ports only provide 50 ma (a quarter of 2.0 mA, note the small ma compared with the 2.0 mA)
Power to pc/laptop end user style is 2.0mA devided by amount of ports.
Any single charger rated 2.5mA or above is what you want, so I use 3.5 mA.
Check old big phone chargers, look at the plug, go for more power than your actual fone charger, which I must ask, is rated at how many mA? I predict 2000ma (2.0mA)
The time (2 days) is to FORCE more power into the previous 'rememberd' memory, literally blowing it's mind lol. After this, you use your standard charger, this is only to fix BATTERY, so then we know if it's hardware or software, cause you did the work and patted yourself on the back lol
Edit: keep fone off while charging, just use another old one or borrow one till the charge is complete. By cheating you only cheat yourself lol. By doing, you WIN.

I would not recommend the pc/laptop method, because I'm pretty sure those usb ports only provide 50 ma (a quarter of 2.0 mA, note the small ma compared with the 2.0 mA)
Power to pc/laptop end user style is 2.0mA devided by amount of ports.

my phone charger is 18watt fast charger....than how many ma it has....and how many watts in 3.5ma charger??
Glad you asked. Your charger is a 2.3 AMP or 2.300mA like I said, try a larger charger
Look at charger till you get what I'm saying re: ma, mA or Amps (A)
2.0 AMP is 2000mA
To make it easy for you. 2.0 ma (how it's sometimes written) is = to 2000mA or 2.0 AMPS, but do NOT make the mistake of using 2000 AMPS lol, I'll hear you from here...
Electronics is defo not software and I forget sometimes i'm dealing in milliamps and amps, etc rather than megawatss from my radios lol
So you will look for a plug that MAY show EITHER 2000mA or or 2.0 AMPS. The old way to write milliamps were once similar, so ma was made mA to show amps. Keep my age in mind lol
