@Moderators , I do not know where I need to post this thread. Hence, I have posted it at the Galaxy 10.1 General and also at Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A. Please move it to wherever it needs to be !!!
Hi Xda'ians,
I have a problem with my Galaxy tab GT-7510 and would like your help/opinion/advice ...
Today, my galaxy tab screen started showing weird colors. I mean that all the black colored letters, black backgrounds had a reddish color. I have attached the snapshots of the screen image that indicate the problem. As you can see it's really difficult to use the tablet due to this problem.
I had a chat with the samsung support and they willing to check my tablet but alas, my warranty had expired and they informed me that I would have to pay 200$ for them to evaluate, replace parts and ship the tablet to me.
So questions to all --
1) Do you think it is worth paying $200 and getting my tablet repaired or is it better to get a new tablet ???
2) Has anyone experienced such a problem before and how did you get it resolved ??
3) Is there any way I can fix this problem myself with the minimal expenditure ??
Any suggestions by the community would be really very helpful !!!
PS: I have checked out videos of how to replace the screen but not sure which part needs to be replaced (i.e., digitizer/screen or LCD or some other component)
Thank you all for your help in advance !!!
Seems like the LCD is going out. If it were the digitizer then the touch screen would likely stop working.

Hey Shawn,
Is there any way I can replace the LCD myself ??? Do you have any idea where i can get a replacement LCD ??
I had a similar issue with my Tab 10.1, only mine was a weird bluish "noise" on the screen. I sent it back to Samsung for repair because it was still under warranty (by like a month). They repaired it for free, so I can't give you any idea of the cost.
I've attached a screenshot of the repair statement, so you can see the parts they replaced. Maybe it'll help.

You could but I wouldn't recommend it. I've replaced them before and it's too much work Imo. You can probably find one on eBay but expect around $100 at least.

Shawn, as per your advice I have decided not to repair the tab. I do not think its worth the money. I will continue to use as is till I have the sufficient funds to get a better tab...

You were lucky that the tab failed bfore the warranty expired. I am beginning to wonder if all tabs will face this scenario at some point due to the cheap quality of the components used...
Hopefully not. I just got my tab, used off my brother.

Although I have yet to figure this issue out, I'll provide my experience and thoughts on it, as well as addressing your questions.
Firstly, the background with my tablets.
I bought 2 broken galaxy 10.1 tabs (p7510) in the past on eBay and they both needed screen repairs. The one I bought for myself a couple of months ago needed a new digitizer and LCD screen, and since I'm knowledgeable on replacing screens/hardware on smartphones, I was able to successfully replace and fix what is now my personal tablet.
The other one I've purchased within the last couple of weeks, to fix up for my uncle. The issue with this tablet (as claimed) was that there was no display picture. In the eBay listing photo, there was no damage to the tablet's digitizer so I figured there'd be no physical damage to the LCD, which turned out to be correct.
I'm unsure if you're suffering from the exact same issues, but upon receiving the device, before opening it, I got an in-and-out picture within an hour or so of really playing with it. So I was able to confirm no screen issues physically and moved on to my next hunch; the LCD flex cable is loose or bad.
I then began to open up the tablet and remove the LCD cable from the broken device and temporarily swap it with the one from my working device. Same issue. The screen would temporarily come in clear then start jumping around and scramble the picture as well as the screen colors. So it's confirmed not a faulty LCD cable like initially thought.
Wiggling the cable seems to have a secondary effect on the issue, or "propping up" the cable. But the picture eventually goes in and out again or starts jumping around/changing colors.
There are countless people with this issue from what I've researched and it seems none of them have found the specific issue on what is causing this. It seems the majority of people simply send their devices in to be repaired, well the ones still under warranty.
I've read a theory that there may be an LCD/motherboard related component that temporarily overheats, thus causing this issue.
I haven't gotten as far as removing the digitizer to get to the LCD to test, because I don't own a heat gun and the hairdryer route takes so long. So until I make time to do so, and swap with my personal tablet, I would diagnose the problem to be an LCD related issue.
So here's where I answer your questions in chronological order:
1. No, do NOT spend the $200 to get the device fixed. Used, working tablets are going for less than that on eBay!
2. Working on it currently...
3. Yes, just do some research on the anatomy of this device. There are countless guides to watch/read and repairs become easy once you understand what you're doing.
If I do find that it turns out to be a bad LCD screen issue, and you're willing to make the repair on your own, LCD screens go for as low as $54 on eBay. That's where I personally buy mostly all of my hardware replacements and they do work great (i get the best prices there, too!).
I've attached some pics to this post as I was able to replicate your problem. My personal working tablet is on the bottom in the casing as the broken one is on the top. I'll get back to this thread when I open up both of my tablets digitizers to swap and test the LCD.

Hi OTAw,
Thank you for your insight into the problem. based on what you have mentioned, let me open up my tablet and check if the lcd cable is loose/motherboard component is overheating/lcd is dying. I will report back as soon as I am done.
*Edit*
Cool, I'll be around.
Just bought a decent heat gun from Walmart today. So I'll have the assumed "non-working" LCD swapped with the working LCD from my tablet within a day or so.
I'll check back soon with my findings.

OTAw, thanks so much... you are exactly describing my problem with my Tab10.1 as described here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34462380&postcount=11), except that now the problem is worse: the screen starts flickering immediately after a minute or so, and the portrait mode, although seems a *little* better than landscape, but now it is also scrambled.
Waiting your findings...
My P7510 Galaxy tablet had the same problem. Send it to the warranty and replaced three filters. one was the part # 2901-001625 and two others were part # 2901-001647. Check with Samsung if your tablet is warranted or can call at 18009874357 Repair Service Inc
angeamon, I recently had a similar experience. I dropped my tab on concrete, and although no visible damage, the display was scrambled much like OTMw's pictures. I was lucky that it was only the LCD flex cable being slightly pulled free. It was actually hard to spot, but by using a magnifying glass I could see the line across the cable was slightly off from the (alinging) line across the surface behind it.
Also, I didn't know how to open the case or how to unlock the cable until seeing an tear down video on YouTube for the Galaxy note (similar enough to the original tab for me). Once I disconnected the power cable, and disconnected and reconnected the LCD cable, and reassembled, the screen was back to normal.
Again, I was probably lucky this was all that was needed, and my issue was the direct result of a hard drop, and so it may not help. But you may want to inspect /reset the the cable connections.
Good luck with the tab!

Thanks for your info.. I too am hoping that it be a problem with a loose LCD cable. I am yet to open my tab. So will update when i am done. I am still awaiting my toolkit from iFixit...
Update on my tab problem -- well, I haven't had the time to open it up yet but it seems that the issue is almost resolved. The red tinge disappears and then reappears, so I am guessing it must be a loose cable problem. Will keep updating when I have more news.....
mine is overheating too like otaw did anyone solve this problem im bout to buy the lcd flex ribbon did it work for you guyss?
OTAw, you seem pretty knowlegable on these tabs. While visiting my parents they mentioned to me that the screen on my mothers tab 2 7" p3113 was extremely dim. Since they aren't tech savy I took a look and sure enough the screen was so dark that I had to sit in a dark room to see it. I tried connecting the phone to the charger and didn't get any brighter. I checked the settings and made sure power save was off, Auto brightness was turned off and brightness was set to max level. I tried autobrightness and it made it too dim to be seen. So I tapped the same spot on the screen and was able to get auto brightness back off and return the screen to super dim. This tab is not rooted. I did turn on debugging just in case. I tried rebooting the tab and it didn't fix it either. after about half an hour the screen darkened to the point where it has no backlighting at all. I know the tab is on cause it will make sounds when I press buttons. I know the digitizer is working cause if I swipe my finger across the screen i can hear the tab play the sound indicating I unlocked the lock screen. Does this sound like a case of a bad hardware issue to you? I tried searching these forums and google and can't find anything even remotely close to my issue. Thanks in advance.

Cool story bro. I heard Samsung is coming out with a new phone for Sprint, you should try it out.
On my third. The first was for light leakage and a yellow tint. The second had leakage as well, so I figured I would live with it, but that one had a power button that wasn't responsive without pushing it down really hard.
This one has light leakage but everything else is fine. I'll live with it.

Anyone tried taking theirs back for the crooked screen? If so, did they replace it? Thinking about trying. Sometimes I don't really notice it, but there are sometimes when it really seems to show out more than others.
On your new one look closely for dirt under the screen..I'm sure you will find a spec some where. Then you can return it again.
And I'm sure no one would have noticed the crooked screens if it weren't for that thread...I feel like I'm the only person in the world who actually returned their phone for an actual defect that caused

Your so much better than everyone else. You probably are the only legit person here. I paid full price for this phone. My laptop doesn't have a crooked screen and it cost less than this phone. Sorry for expecting my $550 phone to have a straight screen. Plus, FYI, I noticed the crooked screen without ever reading one thing on here about it. In fact, I had no idea anyone else had noticed it until I came here to post about mine and saw the thread! Imagine that! You are wrong about something!
Yeah, imagine that....Well maybe if someone had 6 issues with 6 different phones then maybe that person should look for a different product..If i had to get something replaced that many times I can tell you that product/company would not get my business...If you've replaced a product that many times you're never going to be happy.Save yourself the headache in searching for the perfect phone and just give it up and move on.
<side note> If i paid full price sure i'd be a bit more picky, but 6 times? Does the company even deserve your hard earned money at that point?

Yes, they should. Can't imagine you'd get any flack unless you get a turd of a store. Only returned mine once: for the crooked screen. New one is perfect. Local Sprint store even let me sit down in their repair room and open and check out the brand new one before they even activated it. I confirmed the screen was straight, used the camera and gallery to search for dead pixels and then when I was satisfied, they swapped them and activated the new one. Great service!
P.S. Manager at that store commented that my screen was pretty bad. His was slightly crooked too and he said he was going to swap his out later but we both said the one I exchanged was twice as bad! Drag the notification bar down and the left edge of the notification bar on the bottom was actually underneath the blackout it was so crooked! It's only half to 3/4 of a millimeter but that's easily noticeable and since the digitizer (top glass panel) is straight and the LCD panel underneath is crooked, it can actually throw off the touch response. Straight digitizer + crooked screen = some keys on keyboard (and buttons in some apps) don't align properly and you end up pressing the wrong thing sometimes.

I definitely agree with you on that point. I haven't taken my phone back yet because of the slightly crooked screen, but am thinking about it. It doesn't affect the function of the phone one bit, but it is a bit annoying when I see it. Like I said before it is not always noticeable, but there are certain times it is.
Some people are never satisfied and that's just the way it is.

I just recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy S2 from eBay, the seller stated that the LCD screen was "very dark" and not quite working right. When I received the phone it was far more then "very dark", half of the screen looks as if the LCD is leaking out or has been broken? The digitizer is mint and works and the phone its self is in AMAZING shape. NO scratches or chips or anything. It honestly looks brand new. I even tested the battery for usage and its showing up that this battery IS indeed brand new. Like I said it is mint so there is no possible way this phone was dropped. My first guess was a ROM issue, but I just noticed you can see the screen defect without the phone even being turned on. So what I am thinking is water damage. I read all over online about people having problems with there screens going black, this might also be the case. If it is water damage, does anyone know EXACT locations of indicators on the phone? I looked in the battery compartment and found nothing what so ever. I want to sell this thing today, (just received it in the mail) I need the cash so I was hoping someone would be able to point me in the right direction?? I uploaded photos below, the second one is with the phone turned off, the reflection is from my computer. For reference, it is the Samsung Galaxy SII 19100, with Bell Canada. Thanks in advanced!

See Im trying to figure out if the LCD was broken by physical damage or if this has happened before to people, because if its a manufacturing issue I can just send it back to Samsung and they will fix it no problem as long as this was caused on their part. If it WAS broken by the ebay seller, I might be better off buying a new lcd and installing it myself. I only paid $200CAD so it would be worth keeping if all thats wrong is the LCD. But like I said I would rather Samsung do it, lol its free.

Scratch that, the LCD is almost $200. Not worth buying and fixing. But does anyone know if this could be classified as a manufacturing issue? I can just send it in if it is?
anybody at all?? I just want to confirm that this could be a manufacturing issue, theres no water damage and the screen is not cracked from a drop any ideas would be awesome. I might just try to send it in to Samsung just to see what happens.
Discovered a hair line crack today on my White AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-I717. Took it to a corporate store and the manager told me there isn't anything he can do about it, because it isn't a known, reported issue. Well I am here to be the first. Hopefully this doesn't become a common issue and there is some sort of recourse. Meanwhile I will be posting to let others be aware of this possible defect.

A crack, of any kind, is considered to be physical damage, and is therefore not a warranty exchangeable issue. Can only be replaced via insurance claim. If by some miracle, you get a store rep to replace it, then kudos to you!

Sometimes these things show up later, that is why they are called "manufactures' defects" and have warranty to cover replacements or repairs.

I remember the white DS Lite got cracks in the hinge and like people said before the white 3GS and maybe the 3G had some problems with cracks and yellowing. The Note doesn't have a problem since more people would have reported it by now, you probably just got a bit of bad luck.

At least two others "reported" having the same / similar issue on my [Q]uestion thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566206
So far...
Sitting on it would have cracked the glass, the chrome or something else no?
Anyways, no haven't sat on it. I carry my phone in my left front pocket, if that might be an issue. I've always carried them there, never happened to any of my black phones..

It's possible. If while flexing the plastic was the weakest part, then sure, it could crack first.
One big thing I have a hard time reading about in this thread, is the focus on just the white models. Ever think that you never saw any micro cracking on a black device be cause the crack itself was black? If it didn't stand out like it would on a white device, you wouldn't even know to look for it.

This is true, although what happens eventually with these cracks is air, moisture, dust, sand, debris gets into the split and eventually into the screen which would be visible regardless of the color of the phone's casing. I guess black material is more flexible.
Another bigger problem is that split may eventually become bigger and worse yet is get caught on something and snap off. I have seen the issue with cracks near the power and volume rockers, from the normal pressure of the user pressing the area which is open and more delicate after long term use... Eventually splitting at two ends and part of the bezel falling off. ** They claim this is physical damage, which in part is true, but only because the quality of the materials was questionable in the first place.
Again, personally I'm not too bothered. But the Samsung Warranty rep mentioned exactly that (above) and if that were to eventually happen, it would not be covered under the warranty and then be considered physical damage.
I then reminded her what a 00mred00 reminded me of..

Did you buy from att? This is covered by att if you bought it from them. You have to contact warranty support though. i posted the number in your other thread. Going to inspect my white note later tonight
Shame in samsung for telling you that. Subsequent damage caused by warranty defect would be covered.

And she reluctantly agreed.
It's like saying Toyota doesn't have to compensate a user for having faulty breaking system or electrical problems with acceleration on their cars. Because the user crashed and totaled the car, dismissing the user, claiming physical damage.. ofc some people will just take that, others won't and if enough don't accept that as the answer, then the manufacturer will have to address the problem, but only until then.. If they can get away with it..
Honestly I hope this is an isolated problem, only affecting a very few owners. And I just happen to get one of the affected units. Because truthfully I absolutely love the phone and if I were to get a replacement, I would want another white one with the hopes of it not happening again, at least to me
Hope you find a solution. BTW White Note ROCKS!

** RESOLVED (sort of, but I couldn't close) details within...
I have to write this to let people know there is a solution and to give credit where credit is due.
So after going to DSC, they couldn't help me because they don't have the Note to exchange. They recommended I go back to the store.
I went to a store about a block away, explained. They told me I would have to go back to the original store and speak directly to the manager, not to waste time with rep. Explain the situation and have her do an exception and do the replacement.
Instead, I went to one last AT&T store, one that happens to be in a more posh neighborhood. Went directly to a manager (Rick, Coral Cables FL Store). Explained everything, told him what DSC, the other store, AT&T warranty support and Samsung Warranty Support all told me to do. He looked at the phone, looked at a display phone. Went to a rep (Yavon, Coral Gables FL Store) and told him to get me a new replacement.
Trouble started for me, when they tried to look up the account, purchase, via the IMEI on their system. It didn't show up. Happen to be another Manager in a suit and tie was there and helped the rep. Issue here is that it was pre-ordered via online Feb. 15th for the Feb. 17th delivery. Fine they found that.
Here's the next problem, the phone was no longer registered on their system because the original phone number was ported out to another carrier. So they had no active account to complete the swap/replacement..
Brand new replacement box was right in front of me within my grasp and almost in my hands. Alas I could not close the deal because of the technicality. But it goes to prove that it can be done, calmly.. Just have to find the right person. Someone mentioned once, you need to find the person that is there to help you get the issue resolved and doesn't take the exchange/replacement personally.
Again, I posted this because I know there are people that have this issue, and I know there will be others that will eventually suffer through this. For you and them to know that there is/are several solutions to a legitimate problem.
When I left the store, I told the manager and rep that I was thankful for them having taken the time to actually try to resolve my problem and really tried hard to look into the issue and find a solution. I understand I personally hit a stump as far as how much AT&T can do for "me". I let them know that in other stores they were not so willing and just brushed me off instantly dismissing me. And further putting blame on me having caused the damage, by pure speculation and assumption on their part that it must have been that I dropped it or somehow caused it by some sort of physical damage. They apologized.
My next step is Samsung Warranty Repair.

Size matters
Yup same hairline crack on left side in line with bottom of volume rocker. I use a Samsung flip case and do not pocket it

Something I noticed a few weeks ago...
When I have my screen brightness set on the higher end, I see these green dots.
With the power and screen both on, and when the display is trying to show black, I am finding these green dots and specs.
The size of these dots are tiny, probably a pixel or two at most. They are clustered mostly in the inner 50% of the centre of the screen.I have not counted them but we are talking about a few hundred.
At first I thought it was dust or something under the glass, but noticed that with the screen off, it cannot be seen, and when the screen is white background, it cannot be seen either.
It is more noticeable when watching videos. If you crank up the brightness during a scene at night, let's say, it is almost unbearable.
Does anybody else suffer this?
Faulty pixels, you can get it exchanged.
I used the dead pixel app from Google play, where it flicks through many monotone color screens, one of them being black.
And as explained before, I see the green pixels on the pure black screen.
The strange thing is, the research I have done on dead pixels, hot pixels or stuck pixels tells me a different description to what i am seeing.
I see no problems at all during other color screens of the dead pixel test...only the black.
Do I have a uniquely malfunctioning unit, it are others or there?
If you have some spare time on your hands, could you try searching for dead pixel test in Google play and try it out?
No faulty pixels on mine. I think I've seen only one or two other similar reports.
But no matter if the pixels are dead, hot or stuck, it's hardware fault and I'm sure you can get your tablet replaced without a problem.

This is the best I can do.
I used mx player, with max brightness.
When the brightness is set 3/4 of the way, it starts to become visible.
P.S. dumb question. How do people manage to paste pic direct in the posts?

Your screen also looks a bit distorted from looking at that playback bar. Yeah, you should just go ahead and get your tablet replaced, no hassle.
And wrap your image link between a
tag. Or just use the image button in the reply editor.
I noticed this problem too on my tablet but not to the same extent. Have you replaced yours?

Not yet, but I will. It has been a while since the original post, but I think it is getting worse. It has spread to a wider area. I contacted service center in Hong Kong and they told me that it should only take 3 hours to replace the lcd. So I will fly there nervy week and get it fixed.
Better to have it done while still under warranty..
I will report one done.

I sent mine in but they did nothing at the problem. They sent it back within two days claiming there is no problem and that they had updated firmware (which they could not have done since I did it before I sent it in lol...)
I called support again and they in return will call the repairshop asking what they actually did to my tablet. Most likely (if everything turns out ok) I will have to send it in again (which is still is annoying) and hopefully they will notice the problem this time.

Which County are you?
Not to defend Sony in any way, but it can be difficult to spot the problem when the screen brightness is anything below 50%.
I notice my problems in the following scenarios.
1) when I boot up the tablet, first the Sony logo. Here you can see it a bit because the background is black. But it gets a lot worse when moving into the next screen during 'Xperia'. Here the brightness is turned up, making it extremely noticeable.
2) when I am trying to watch a movie outside or in a bright place making my screen reflect, forcing me to turn the brightness up above 70% mark...
3) when I am using my tablet in pitch dark... Even in low brightness setting it can be noticed. Especially bad when the movie scene I am watching is for example night time and thus naturally contains a lot of black on the screen.
Anyway, thanks for your info. Before I submit my tablet, I will make sure the recipient sees and understand the problem and get that person to attach a note to describe it for the repair crew.
Judging by the lack of response to this thread, we seem to have encountered a rare problem.

Im from Sweden.
Yeah well I thought I was pretty clear on my instructions regarding how to notice the problem but you might be right. Mine isnt visible much when in use (apart from dark background with 100% brightness) and in dark enviroments.
Right now Im waiting for Sony Xperia support to call me telling me what the next step is. They wanted me to take a picture of them problem however its good to get a good print (picture is easy but printing it is harder ).
I have seen another thread regarding this at Sony Talk forum but that might be you aswell?

UPDATE
I flew into HK last night and went straight to Xperia care centre this morning.
I did not need to mention anything, I showed him the green dots (he called them dead pixels) and took it in immediately.
Judging by his reaction (his English was not very good) it was not the first time he had seen this on the Z2 tablet, and seemed to ask no further.
I showed receipt from purchase, he gave me a form to sign, and I was told to come back in 4 hours.
I came back after 4 hours, and everything was perfect.
I wasn't sure at the time, but it involves replacing the whole front display unit. The LCD screen and outer glass seem to be one piece, because everything was changed.
just a pain that the screen protector was gone with the old screen, so I needed to go and buy new, and that they had to factory reset... one click root and Titanium backup will come in handy...
All in all, my first ever Sony repair experience was professional, efficient and stress free.

Glad to hear that everything turned out ok for you. I have sent mine back and it will soon be at the repair shop (i can track the package). Hopefully they will be able to spot the problem this time otherwise I will be mad.. ;(.

I just happened to have a business trip to Hk coming up so I didn't need to send it in, but when I initially discovered the problem and called Sony Hk, they told me that sending it by registered mail or FedEx was an option.
The Chap on the phone told me to start an email correspondence with support team, who would then provide me with step by step instruction on how to send my tablet in.
For me at the time it was not an option, only because the receipt/proof of purchase was left in my office along with the box in Hk...
Since my tablet was repaired in 3 hours or so, if things go smoothly you might get your tablet back within the week (although it sucks that you have to pay courier 2-way)
Just wanted to say that the 2nd time I sent it for service they replaced the screen and now it looks ok!
I had to write a detailed description of the problem and I also added a printed picture which showed the dots, aswell as a link to an uploaded img. I guess that made them realize.
Lets hope it can stay like this now...
I just wanted to share about mine xperia z2 tablet.I had the same pixel problem, bought the tablet in abay Germany, got it to local service canter in Latvia. They got in touch with Sony and I got complete SWAP. For now it looks ok, I am usingthe new tablet for 2 weeks, lets see what will happen.

Took mine in today for screen and constant reboots got a text saying it would be completed within five days but not what they were going to do so fingers crossed

Recently I found some weird little air bubbles in the corners off my Nexus 9. I don't have any screen protector so that isn't it. It has never repared or replaced before, it's still original.
The air bubbles show up on the left side in both corners and are around 2mm big. In the corners on the right side are also starting to show some bubbles but they are hard to see. I took some pictures, to show you.

Photo URL and Google replaced some parts
Hi,
New update about the weird little bubbles in the edge of my screen.
I send my Nexus back to the shop and one week later I was called that they replaced some parts and that the problem was solved. I didn't know what parts where replaced but definitely the screen, back cover and the volume buttons have been replaced. It looks brand new and maybe it is another Nexus.
Here are some old photos because the old URL is broke .

Let me know of the URL works now ow and of you have more questions, please let me know.

Did you contact HTC directly, or did you contact Google, or did you just send your N9 back to the place you bought it from?
I bought my N9 from Amazon in Dec. 2014, so I'm not sure who to contact, and I'm not even sure I've got a 2 year warranty.

I brought it back to the place where I bought it and got it returned in 8 days.
I have 2 bubbles at top left corner and 1 at top right corner. Can't fix
All you need to fix it is bring to repair. I think it's look like glue or plastic just heat and melt down.
PS: same problem and in my country had no store accept to fix it. I think they don't have screen to replace it
Got it too - a bubble in top right corner slowly growing. Do not have either google or htc representative nearby, what am I supposed to do?
Did anyone get anywhere with this? My Nexus 9 has the same issue.
I contacted Google but as my N9 is over 2yo, they won't help me. All they would do is put me through to HTC.
I spoke with HTC and they kept implying I mistreated it or got it wet (I didn't!) Their only solution was to send it in for inspection. That's going to cost $AUD49.50 if I don't proceed with the repair.
I'm disappointed. With several cases like this, I'd say it's some kind of manufacturing defect.

I have it too. Guess I'm just going to have to live with it. I replaced the screen on my n7 (2013), it was fairly easy (for my first time doing something like that). This one looks a little harder, and more expensive. If it gets too bad I'm going to break down and do it. Not too many good tablets out there right now. This one isn't bad with custom ROM on it. Not great, but not bad.

This is an old thread but my Nexus 9 has started developing bubbles over the last couple of months, and in the last couple of weeks I've gone from one to three in the top RH corner (just above the battery symbol) and another small one a bit over to the left. Has anyone tried any fixes like applying heat/pressure or anything? I've just gotten to the point where I'm relatively happy with its performance and still can't find a worthy replacement, so I'd like to keep it going for as long as possible.
I got mine repaired, it was still under warranty. But is came back after a year or so.... Never tried to fix it again after that.
same here, 2 bubbles growing...
I just ignore it as it didnt effect the display...
Update:
I found out that the bubbles will move from time to time.
Im assuming that there a bubble trap between digitizer and lcd...

seems i am late to the party ... mine was in the tip right corner and now its moved an inch left ...and i see 2 new ones on the edge ... a manufacturing defect ... seems the corners of the nexus screen by design are such that its sucking in air and the glue closes in from behind forming a bubble ... and further stress on the screen (like tucking the nexus 9 in between clothes for instance while travelling) seem to trigger this movement which in air in between the screen and digitizer bonding ...

There's no solution to fix it other than replacing the LCD panel....
I have a couple of the Nexus 9 tablets and almost all of them have what looks like bubbles around the screen. However these are not bubbles. The optically clear adhesive that the manufacturer used on these tablets shrinks over time. What you're seeing is actually vacuum pockets. There is no air in these "bubbles" at all. Although disturbing, they are just cosmetic and should not affect the operation of the tablet.
