I was a hardcore, die hard iPhone fan. Bought every single iPhone that came out( as well as other Apple products). The G2 is actually the first phone that impressed me! Most of my mates have S3s,S4s Note2&3s and just thought "WTF!" Their phones (as well as mine) would die by 2PM carrying around some dead piece of useless weight. trying to charge a bunch of batteries was an awfully pain chore too.
The day came were I sat next to this guy in a fully packed bus on a Thursday evening. He pulled out this gorgeous white device, I could barely notice the bezels. The screen was drop dead sexy. "Sorry mate, what phone you got?" I asked politely (this phone needs proper advertising!!!)
"LG G2!... came out yesterday" he replied.
Went home and did some research of this device I had never heard(let alone seen advertised). Its specs just blew all other Android smartphones out the water.
I decided to order one from Clove technology(White 32GB) and click the order button. I later called them to cancel the order but was already dispatched.
Delivery man knocked on the door at 07:14AM precisely. Still having that narrow-minded, typical Apple mentality, I signed the parcel and ditched it on the sofa. Came back home at 10PM and had nothing to do apart from watching TV or play GTA5. Out of curiosity I opened the parcel and opened the box and to my surprise it's the most comfortable phone I've held. It felt light and sturdy. Screen size was perfect. Amazingly fast phone! I've experienced no lag or stutters at all.
The moment came where I finally escaped the darkness. My eyes opened, I realized that the iPhone wasn't the best smartphone in the world. There were much better alternatives out there. It's the best decision I've made in the last decade. I still love Apple products but LG scored a hat-trick with their G2. There's no doubt I'll be buying the next 'G' (G3).
On a typical day at work with extremely heavy use, I usually laugh at my colleagues',(Samsung and iPhone users) bringing a crap load of chargers and batteries to work. By 2PM they'd all start moaning about their battery levels being critically low.
Kind of late now for work but thanks for taking your time to read!

I too agree that LG needs to know how to advertise the phone properly...Even many of so called mobile crazy guys were not knowing about this one.
Good read! Nice to know you love the g2.

SO why did you cancel it in the first place, impulse purchase. That said even i agree i have owned tonz of phones, and i rate this phone as one of the best i have had. Only if they had done something better with back plastic cover(The only gripe)

It's a fantastic phone, and you picked the right phone and the right moment to switch. I have had 4 Android flagship phones before this one, and the LG G2 is a LOT better than anything else that I have tried. My latest Android phone before this one was the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Jumping over to this one is like switching race car from an old truck to a brand new Ferrari.

I purchased it the same evening I saw the phone on the bus. That being said, I was so impressed by its display I made a purchase without making a solid decision. The best mistake I've made and don't regret it.
Good choice, the G2 really is an awesome phone.
LG definitely seems to have been quiet with their advertising around it (I see commercials for the iPhone, SGS4 and Moto X all the time and I think I've seen a G2 commercial maybe once or twice).
How did you put the stock android screen buttons on the G2 on those screenshots?

Firstly, you must be rooted.
1. Download' Xposed installer' and install it.
Link Xposed installer': (can't do that, I'm under 10 posts:crying: so google it
2. Go to the Play store and download 'G2 xposed'
3. Restart phone
4. Open up 'Xposed installer', select 'modules' then select 'Xposed LG G2 [1.2]'
5. Modify your device...

I don't see a valid point in resell value of smartphones. I understand what you mean like the iPhones where you can resell for ridiculous prices compared to Androids and BBs. However, nearly nobody nowadays buys used smartphones. Myself for example, I'd rather donate them than sell them for £80= roughly $120 after I spent a ridiculous amount of money on them after I've kept them for 12-months. I'd be psychologically happy in helping someone by donating it to them than being ripped off. IMHO with the rapid loss of value in smartphones, there are two feasible options
1. Donate it or 2.keep it, but getting ripped for stupid resell prices? it's totally up to you.
People in this day and age want the latest technology, not some outdated stuff. I can't name a single person wanting to buy or currently owning a used smartphone.

Looking through Gumtree ( Craigslist equivalent) over half of the G2's for sale are sealed and not used. They were unwanted upgrades. Paying attention to when the used ones were uploaded, they're quite old by at least a week whereas the sealed once go live and are sold within the first week...

you are right in one thing a typical android phone sells for $120~ after 2 years. But Iphone on the other hand after 2 years still command $200~. plus its easier to sell use iphone products than android
that's just you but some people do buy use phones.

Anyone seen these available anywhere? My Nexus is 21 days old and the speaker grill fell off somewhere, searched and searched and can't find it. I purchased directly from T-Mobile and they said nothing they can do as I am outside the buyers remorse period and suggested calling Motorola, which I did, they will exchange the phone but I have to send mine in, wait for it to be inspected then they will send a replacement. Seems like a lot for what must be a couple dollar part.
I did find one for the moto x, $5 and $20 shipping from etradesupply but doesn't look the same and that's a hefty shipping for a $5 part.
I'm in the same boat. Hoping a way to buy that part shows up.
Just noticed mine is coming loose too...only a matter of time I guess..got insurance thru tmo tho but still..kinda ****ty
Still no luck, guessing not much we can do about it. If you guys come across them please post back. Makes the phone ugly with it missing and I work in construction, somehow I think it will allow more dust and debris into the phone.

Just an update,. Motorola sent me a replacement phone because of the speaker grill, even allowed me to change to the cloud white one. New one however has it's own set of issues such as qi charging doesn't work, people complained I sounded like I was under water and lastly, the vibration from touching the screen would make a loud rattling noise... it's on it's way back to Motorola. Hoping the next one works correctly.

Nah, not really.... Just normal luck for me when dealing with stuff like this lol.
Another update, while it's been time consuming, Motorola finally sent me a fully functioning phone. Speaker covers are both firmly attached and qi charging works, no odd noises with vibrating or anything. Loaded up the same ROM on both phones and the new one reboots, completely loads everything up a good 5 seconds faster than the old one. I even held them both in my hands and simultaneously rebooted them because just in general use the new one was noticeably quicker.
Motorola did accidentally charge my card tho, they were supposed to just put a hold on it while they waited for me to ship the original back so they offered me a free set of the new moto surround BT headsets as compensation for my troubles, without me asking for a thing, pretty good customer service IMO.
Anyways, all said and done I am happy with how they handled it and have no issues recommending Motorola products to anyone considering them, with the new moto x pure coming out, I'll probably pick one up now over the oneplus 2 for the simple reason of having faith in the customer service they offer.
Hey is anyone else experiencing this issue with the phone back peeling? It is really bad alongside the audio jack. It's starting to crack around the input for the charger also. Seems like a defect. I wouldn't think this would be normal wear and tear after only a month.

Mine isn't doing that at all, but I've only taken the back off one time since the day I bought the phone. My battery and SD card promo pack are showing up tuesday, and I'm sure mine will be peeling once I start swapping batteries every day.
Luckily for us, replacements are available: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=lg+v10+back+cover&_sacat=0
I don't use a case... But really this shouldn't be happening. I have taken the back off maybe 5 times? This is something that younger expect to start happening after 6 months of use.... And what about the spot beside the charging port?
I'm gonna see if I can maybe get them to send a replacement back. I don't feel like this is something you'd normally expect of a 6 week old phone. IMHO

Tmobile response to my questioning them on the back falling apart.
Wow. Mine has the same problem. I talked to Verizon, they can't do anything about it, LG wants me to send the back to them and they will investigate and see whose fault it is. I'm having reservations and it because I will have to go bareback (???) for a few days. I'm still pissed because it was less than 2 weeks when I got the phone.

At least their being honest with you. Take it as a chance to invest in a wireless charging back cover.
This is a serious lack in customer service. What a mess. I will be calling next week and also sending pics and complaints to Tmobile. This phone is unfortunately not turning out to be all its cracked up to be. First with the busted screens and now this not so "Dura"skin peeling off the back. This should not be an opportunity to go and buy something else.... Now if LG wants to send me a $15 gift card or something I'll get another back....
Don't get me wrong the internal hardware is great but then so is the G4. I bought it because of its durability primarily and this is quickly becoming an area where it appears to be lacking... Now I just have a "heavy" phone.... With similar features as some other not so heavy ones...

I started a thread on Reddit also. I sent emails to Android Central and Android Police. I don't personally have a Twitter account but if you do maybe consider Tweeting it to LG with a link to the thread so that they can see these multiple reports. Same problem with my phone. I've had it since day one and it's peeling in the exact same way in the same spot. I called LG and they said they'd replace it after I send them the back of my phone and they send me a new back which would take up to 10 days. What a joke. I love the phone otherwise but I bought it so I wouldn't need to buy a case. Not that the cases work with the fingerprint scanner. I'm glad for jump on demand. I think it's ridiculous they won't send us a part that cost them a few cents but they send out batteries and sdcards for free.

I do. In fact I prefer it when they ship good headphones. I got the Sony Noise Cancelling headphones with my Z2 and loved them, made the purchase of the phone a little extract special. I'd agreed if every manufacturer just chucked some cheap ear buds in but most do provide something that will make the phone sound great when listening to music so you know your money is well spent

Because this is a phone that is projected to sell for no more than $300 in 3-4 months from now, and still bring some kind of profit.
I'd elect for the the extra battery and cam over wired headphones(with early purchase) any day
I just picked up my G5 from my local Sprint retailer. The phone does not come with headphones from Sprint either it just has the wall charger and the USB-C adapter. There is a promotion currently going on through LG's website (I would post a link but I can't due to not having enough posts yet) where you are able to get a second battery and cradle by showing your proof of purchase.
This is a PSA for anyone who uses their HTC 10 on a car, truck, motorcycle, or any place where there is vibration. Some part of the camera mechanism (the camera, laser sensor, or something else) fails after being used around a lot of vibration. The front camera is fine, and I've removed the gel cover/protector and cleaned all the surfaces. I don't use the camera a lot, so it's not from overuse.
The image shown on the screen is what you would see if you taped it to the shaking machine used at paint stores. There is an audible vibrating sound and feeling from the top of the phone by the camera and not from the bottom where the real vibration unit is.
This is now the second phone that has died like this. I did some research and this has happened to other HTC phones. Such a disappointment that they didn’t test the device thoroughly enough. It's still basically new, so I'm not taking it apart to see what's going on inside. I'll take it back to Verizon and demand a new unit on the spot and not have to wait for another remanufactured POS to be sent.
LOL..umm..yeah.I believe this phone also fails if used under water, near molten lava, and will succumb to repeated hammer abuse.lol
Though I agree with you that if there's a failure while using it on a motorcycle mount it certainly deserves a warranty replacement...I don't think taping it to a mechanical paint can shaker can be used as evidence of a design defect. No normal person uses their phone taped to a paint shaker.
I may be wrong, but I imagine that scenario causing WAY more vibration than using it on a motorcycle phone mount.
This is totally the ois. Optical image stabilization uses very small motor movements of the optical assembly to maintain focus. Understandable it has a limit and can be hosed by excessive vibration. Also very possible that the op had a defective one. Read up on the iPhone 6+ and their ois failures that affected a large number of phones.
Sent from my HTC6545LVW using Tapatalk
I've used 4 phones on a motorcycle mount and the 10 is the only device to fail twice.
The paint shaker was an example of what the screen shows after failing, not as an example of a clearly abusive use case. Sarcasm and no contribution to the dialog really doesn’t help.
The knowledge of cameras and the ois is helpful; thank you for providing a beneficial reference for more reading.

True...I apologize for the sarcasm...and dottat is on point as always. But your initial post when literally read didn't say your phone camera failed due to your use of it on a motorcycle/truck/car mount...you simply issued a warning for those who might use it in that manner and about using it around a lot of vibration based on your tests of it failing on a paint shaker...lol
From the initial read of your post I took it as you were crying wolf which is even less useful than funny sarcasm in the world.
But I will certainly refrain from using it this way in my car and stick with hot spotting my 10 and let my M8 or ipad mini take the abuse while Wazing etc.
Handshake. I'll own that I was vague on the specific use case because of what my ex-wife would call paranoia that my carrier was watching the posts and deny claims to any moron using a paint mixing machine on his motorcycle
Perhaps some levity... ever wonder what would happen to that mounted phone if the wind force also identified a weak connection between the backplate and top of the mount "pole"? Never happened to me, but do the math on that one.
I solved the camera problem and did the math on the phone flying off the bike at California highway speeds last night in 3 words "there it goes..."
The camera got fixed by a new phone being ordered through Asurion, and the math is $150 (insurance deductible) + $100 for new SanDisk Extreme Plus 128gb SD card + $40 for my third Sunshine mailing + $60 for a new cradle, gummy body shell, and TechGlass Skinomi screen protector. $340 is the answer. Oh, add several hours to figure out how to dampen vibrations.
Until then, it's back to the best phone I've had in years and still like better than the 10, the G3. If LG makes a new version later this year that's close and gets unlocked, the 10 will be gone in minutes. Oh, the camera works fine on the G3 with 10k miles on it.

It's a direct from Verizon phone. They were giving $300 in discounts and free anything in the store so I got it from them.
Great to know Sunshine got Verizon versions into the app. That team isn't just guru developers, they are amazingly cool and supportive folks. JCase went well beyond the call to help me.

OK. You got me confused because it sounded like you paid for a warranty phone through assurion on a phone HTC should have warranted.

Sorry for the wording. I'm looking forward to getting the 10 now because it's sound and processing power are great. I do have to say my G3 is still my favorite and I tried Fulmics rom and it's an amazing piece of work. If LeeDroid, Viper, or another builds such an amazing version of the stock rom, the 10 will be unbelievably good. I'll stop now because I'm guilty of taking this way off topic.

You can get Leedroid over in the regular HTC 10 forum. His rom will flash to Verizon. The last time I flashed it though there was a data roaming bug if your phone was on 3g.

The new 10 is up and running. I am getting a fixed mount that will eliminate the "how about a new phone right NOW" problem. I'm researching a different cradle that has equal holding grip and also some damping capability. The motorcycle forums cover that topic. The hardware version is still 0001 (after 3 of them).
The camera on phone #3 is broken after just 2 days of commuting with it in my jacket which is the equivalent of a what someone who rides a bicycle would do. I don't care what anyone says, this phone has inferior camera sensors. If you have an active lifestyle, stay away. I so want it to work, but after 3 phones, it has proven my original statement.
As soon as an equivalent phone hits the market and is unlocked/rooted, I'm jumping ship.

Don't get a phone with ois. Something you are doing doesn't agree with it. Hell I fly airplanes and film video while in them with my phone and still am on phone number 1. I run half marathons with the thing in a pouch with sweat all over it and no problems.
Whatever you are doing is pissing off ois something crazy.

No argument, this is is a pocket only device for me. Easy to Hotspot to the 4 bulletproof Flo's I have.
I had a long conversation with my carrier yesterday and I'm being sent a new one as a mfg defect (fact, not opinion). Again, not arguing I need to treat this phone more carefully, but my problem was not the first. Out of respect for the positive discussion here, I'll just say I hope HTC is able to make a firmware or hardware revision to reduce the chances of this particular issue.
I've always liked HTC and there is some of the best and brightest Android minds doing awesome work on this phone and I don't want to discourage anyone from jumping on board.

Oh yeah that's very possible you are hitting it just the right way. My only point was it doesn't agree with you at this time. I would be curious if the inbound update works any better.

New phone was a new, in box model, but the build still says 0001, so HTC is still on the first parts build (I'd that field in settings is accurate).
I ordered mounting hardware from Adaptive Technologies because they were the only company who marketed specific vibration reduction design. We'll see.

The funny thing is they don't really increment the hardware version even if they use different displays etc. I wouldn't put much weight in that number at all.
Thanks for this thread. I am a new motorcycle rider and my HTC 10 lasted about 4 months of motorcycle riding. I replaced it because it has a battery issue and a broken vibrate motor. My new 10 lasted about a month of motorcycle use. I thought it was a software or firmware issue.
Here is a video link of what the camera does. After the pics fails.
If anybody knows how to disable ois I would loo very to hear it.
