[Q] Lumia boot loop (half solved) - Nokia Lumia 800

I've got a water damaged Lumia 800:crying: that's stuck in a boot loop
So far I've completely dismantled the phone and brushed down the main board with alcohol, even opened up all the heat sinks just in case there was any corrosion present which there was not. Stuck the thing together again and surprise still suck in boot loop.
I had pretty much given up on this phone when I stumbled across some kid booting up an old LG submerged in alcohol though what the hell and this is what happened.
link below.
The phone boots but as soon as you remove it from the alcohol it returns to boot loop. If anyone out there can shed some light on why it boots submerged I would be very grateful.

no link
Sorry I can't post the link as I'm a newbie, too much lurking not enough helping my bad.
If you search
Nokia Lumia boot-loop isopropyl alcohol
The thumbnail is of then phone in a takeaway container submerged in liquid.

My 8500 got in contact with water - not working anymore

HI,
3 days ago my 8500 felt into a swimming pool. I pulled it out , dried it with a hair drier and then tried to switch it on again.
The display was blinking for about 10sec and then disappeared for ever.
The display is black now and I cant switch on the 8500 anymore.
Also, ActiveSync does not recognize the device anymore.
The only life sign i get from the phone now, is the lillte red light showing that the phone is charging, but only when i connect the power cable. But the red light stays red no matter how long i connect the phon eto power...
Is somebody here , who is able to give me some advice or repair my phone ?
I think a physical surgery is needed.
Thanks
believe it or not
Yesterday a friend of mine dropped by and handed me his 8525, he said he was listening to music while giving his dog a bath and his phone got dropped into the bathtub.
He said it sank to the bottom and was still working when he pulled it from the water, within seconds of taking it out of the water it stopped working.
With him not being too bright, he left the battery in and left it to dry out. Needless to say the phone was useless.
4 days later he gives it to me to see what I can do, the phone would not show any signs of life other than the red light when plugged in.
I stripped it down completely and using isopropyl alcohol (70%) and a toothbrush, I cleaned all of the connectors and boards (for any tough corrosion use an eraser).
The first time I put the phone back together the light started red, then went to yellow, after a few minutes I powered it up and it booted, however the screen did not come on, I was able to sync to it and via mymobiler I was able to retrieve his data.
After that I had to tear it down several times to troubleshoot connections, but here we are one day later with a functioning phone.
The only issue it has now is the touch screen is a little finicky , there are a few areas that don't quite align properly, outside of that the phone works perfectly. I figure 35 bucks for a new LCD and digitizer and the phone will be good as gold.
As for your phone, take it completely apart and be gentle when cleaning it, don't saturate it with alcohol, just a little on the brush and some good scrubbing, then pat it dry with an absorbent towel.
The big thing it to make sure you give it plenty of time to dry after cleaning (I would say overnight).
Don't give up if it does not boot the first time after cleaning, you might get lucky and revive it.
How to open the 8500
Is there any technical documentation on how to open / take apart the 8500 into peaces ??
You can find a detailed instruction at Modaco:

btw......you have to be registered to see pictures.
break down
Trust me, this is one of the easiest devices your will ever work on, the one thing I would advise is to get one of the plastic pry tools of of ebay or from radio shack. it really is a necessity, if you use a hard blade to open the device you will damage it.

[Q] Need Help!!! Droid Razr waterdamaged powers on but will not boot

Was pushed in the pool with phone in my pocket. Was under water for max 20 seconds. Phone screen flickered and powered down. Immediately removed cover, battery and dried. Was then left in uncooked rice overnight. Battery charges, however when I go to turn the phone on its stuck on the word DROID in white. I tried to hold volume + - and Power to restart and recover but nothing seems to work. I am not a Android expert or developer, but competent enough to follow direction.
Researched problem online, downloaded latest Verizon ICS ROM, Android-SDK, ADB and RDSLite5.6. However when I select AP Fastboot and connect phone to computer with ABD running, I am not seeing the device in RDSLite. Also device is not detected in ADB.
Any help would be really appreciated, I just got this phone a week ago as a replacement.
Try mattlgroff's RAZR utility to fast boot the stock .211 software. Less room for operator error than the adb method.

You can't totally dry it with rice. You can just take out moisture. When water dries it leaves traces that still make short circuit. I had my razr dropped in the sea and couldn't do nothing for day's until I came home. What you have to do is dismantle your phone and dip it in 98% alcohol, but first protect your microphones with some strong adhesive tape ( wrap them good), if you can acquire the one used for phone because its strong and it wont let alcohol through to damage them. For the best results use ultrasonic tank filled with 96 or 98% alcohol or other solution for electronics. I used 96% alcohol. Only damage I got on my phone is a broken ear speaker from sea water witch can be replaced. Everything else works.

This. Leave it in a non cold place for as long as you can. It should evaporate pretty quickly, but still would rather err on the side of safety. At least it sounds like it's not completely trashed.
You can leave it as long as you want to dry, but there will always be water residues that still conduct electricity, That is what you have to clean. The longer you use your phone like this the more damage will be made which some can't be repaired later on. Better be safe than sorry. Clean it like I wrote it and you will be ok.

repairing water damage

Hello everyone. I would like to share my experience about water damage. yesterday i noticed that my capacitive menu and back buttons had stopped working. I first tried to reboot my phone hoping that this may somehow fix the capacitive buttons. it did not. furthermore my screen became green and started flickering. next I removed the battery and noticed small drops of water on the inside of the back cover. sure enough the water damage indicator was purple indicating water damage..
I proceeded to google how to fix this . after watching some videos on youtube and a bit of reading. i decided to do the "rice thing" removing the sim card and battery and memory card and then putting the phone without the back cover in a ziploc bag full of rice. I did not have rice so i used couscous, BIG MISTAKE. the couscous got in to the sim tray and now the tray no longer holds the card. luckily it is cheap to order a replacement on amazon for about $10.
I then took apart the phone a bit as i saw that the couscous got in to the mhl port as well. Later i saw a suggestion to put the phone in a stocking before putting it in rice to prevent small particles from getting into the phone.
I then removed the mother board and the cover to the camera flash and speaker. all of this is on youtube how to disassemble the phone.Using a toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol I gently cleaned the motherboard the chassis the battery. and everything i could get to . making sure to clean all the terminals i could find, all ribbon connections etc. Then i used a can of compressed air computer cleaner.
I let the phone dry for about half an hour. under a lamp. reassembled it and booted up.. the capacitive buttons were back up and running but the screen seemed a bit pale but much improved. I took the phone apart again and cleaned it with the alcohol a second time only i applied the alcohol more liberally and now the display is almost back to normal.
I ordered a new sim tray and an emergency drying kit
I used the 70 % isoproplyl alcohol which is not recommended . It is better to use 99% ethyl alcohol which is purer and dries faster.
I hope this helps anyone in the same boat. if anyone has more to add regarding water damage i would greatly appreciate the input. thanks .
this guide may help !

[Q] Phone got wet, touch screen not working

Hello, I have problem here. My friend's phone got wet when she plays in the river (how stupid), and she come to my house. Her phone is Samsung Galaxy Young GT-S6310. She wants to repair her phone to me because the touch screen of her phone is not responding anymore and I accept it but, I told her if her warranty is no longer available, and she said it's no longer. I started to disassemble it, and removing the body and I see the residue of water. I began clearing it and test it (without the body) and nothing happen. I check inside of the covering plate (the stainless plate when you remove the battery) and I see some residue but not water anymore, it heated up and cleaning it again, but still nothing. I tried my best repairing her phone but no success. I told her to come back anytime so she go home and so, I start to research someting. But I didn't search that night, I have a very, VERY, slow connection. So today still nothing so that's why I post here for question.
If someone have an idea, please post here.

you messed up trying to power it on or use it when there is water inside. best thing you could do is blow dry it to dry anything else and leave it in rice to absorb any drops od rice

I tried to rice it up for a whole day, didn't work, I do this 3 times to check inside. Should I buy a new digitizer? It's not available in my current country.

yeah just buy a new one. i imagine if its not working now, then it wont be working anytime soon. have a good day mate!
Ok, I already fix it. First, I lie the logic board and the digitizer outside to heat up for 4 hours under the sun, second, I submerged with rubbing alcohol, third dried up and finalizing, and finally, assembled up, plug the charger in, charge up, boot up, it works!
I search some threads that rubbing alcohol will work.

Boot loop after being submerged into water

Hi all,
Unfortunately, I've dropped my phone into the water and it sat there for 20 minutes or so. After that, I have disassembled it and left it in a container full of rice for 2 days.
Now, every time I try to do one of these:
1)Turn it on
2) Charge
3) plug it to my laptop
It shows the pocophone logo, then the empty battery logo for less than a second and the loop starts it all over again.
Please, any ideas on what can I try to do mitigate the problem? Thanks.

yr emmc died then replace motherboard.
battery and screen and back and possibly camera (if new motherboard does not include it) can probably keep.
Rice is useless. More than likely it's junk now.
You need to disassemble it and get out all the water. Water plus power equals corrosion.
Any corrosion can cause immediate failures or delayed ones even months, years latter. Connector contacts and power buses/components are particularly susceptible as well as some surface mount devices.
>Pull battery immediately!!!<
Disassemble as much as you are able to and pull all ribbon cable and other connectors.
Use anhydrous isopropyl alcohol* liberally if fresh water or RO water than isopropyl for salt water**.
Make sure the (water) alcohol gets into all switches and ribbon connector contacts.
Junk it but then get the alcohol off it fast.
Use compressed air to blow out the isopropyl alcohol as much as possible. It will take a few minutes, be careful with the air pressure.
Place in a warm dry place with fan on it until all water is gone.
I salvaged my Buds case like this after it fell to the bottom of my coffee (yes it had lots of sugar in it) cup. Couldn't disconnect the battery so I just pull the top inside cover off, flooding with water first then isopropyl alcohol. Had no compressed air so I used a blower bulb then let it sit in the sun on the dashboard. Total time from dunk to sun bake was about 3 minutes.
_Time is of the essence_ especially if the battery is in it. You have minutes (maybe) not hours.
A year later (surprisingly) the case still charges and functions normally.
*Do not use isopropyl alcohol on older LCD displays as it will poison them; they are open on the sides.
It should be 99% isopropyl alcohol not 70%!
Anhydrous isopropyl alcohol attracts moisture from the air so low humidity is best. ESD damage is possible but the water is a bigger threat.
It's also flammable but not extremely just don't get stupid about it.
**salt water has near a 100% mortality rate no matter what you do.
Coffee with sugar... there's a chance
I have changed the phone's battery and it is working fine now. Thank you @blackhawk and @jjgvv for the help.

I would at least take the cover off, unplug the battery and leave in a warm dry place with a fan on it for at least a few days.
If any water is still present it will likely fail.
Turns out, as soon as the new battery drained the problem were back, exactly the same as before, it seems the phone has lost its capacity of charging the battery. Everything was working fine while the battery was charged, screen, speakers, phone calls. I will take the phone to a professional next week, let's see if they can figure it out. If you guys have any suggestions on what could be done I would appreciate as well.

Your USB port is dead. Replace your USB port.
Hi guys, let me just let register how was the closure for the case.
I have taken the phone to a technician, the phone was disassembled and had its parts washed with isopropyl alcohol. The procedure bring it back to life, it been more than a week so far it has been working fine.
