Didn't think I would be back so soon...BUT I noticed that when booting into fastboot or recovery, above the "unlocked" in red is now a 'tampered' in black...is this true for all dna rooters?...any way to get rid of that annoying message...It's essentially meaningless but who needs it...
It is true for all who have unlocked, and installed a custom recovery.

The tampered message goes away after you lock your bootloader and RUU to stock. The phone will say relocked instead of locked but no tampered message.

Curious as to who does that.. it's a response to unlocking but is it an htc thing or the big V..seems a tad like big brother watching over. If one were to reset to factory default, does it go back like day one? I would think way down the road if one were to sell their phone, that little message would not be a selling point...oh well.

also it did not say it when bootloader was unlocked, so it happened after root access...

It says tampered because you replaced system files, boot.IMG, recovery, etc.

Another astute XDA member noticed the radioshack training tutorials had a pic of the evo 3d in the bootloader and at the top it said "S-OFF"
take it for what it's worth.
Edit: I attached a screenshot of the website in its full resolution. Looks like it's the ENG bootloader.
Edit2: I've also attached an image at ~3x resolution
The glorious day will be when our phones look just like that at launch!!
S-off yum.

Security is disabled in the bootloader. Making the installation of a custom recovery possible. this means that we can flash custom files and all that good stuff.
That is gonna be sweet!
If you notice, it is an engineering sample. Right before it says S-OFF, it says ENG.
I am really hoping though it comes S-OFF.

I was about to say this. We hope that it's S-OFF anyway but most likely they used an engineering sample to make the manuals.
Bob from Wirefly Answered a Question I had about his review.
Bob, can you please tell us if the Boot Loader screen says S-ON or S-OFF?

@DigitalESP It says S-OFF.
To get to the boot loader screen, you have to power-up the phone after having the battery out. I could not get to the boot loader screen after a normal power-down. I had to pop out the battery, then re-install it. You get to the boot loader by holding down the volume-down button, then pressing the power button.

I didn't ask him if it said ENG, but yet another ray of hope that it ships unlocked or an OTA update has already been issued to make it so.

You have the evo's engineering bootloader on your phone, it will stay S-OFF even if you use unrevokeds s-on tool. It also has extra fastboot command that the production bootloader doesn't.
Another thing to look at is the hboot version. The one in the radio shack pictures is the same as, or slightly newer than, the one I the leaked ruu.

Getting my rezound Tuesday.
Wanna root it immediately but wondering what kind of issues you guys might get with your rezound cause not really sure about how the whole relocking your phone says phone relocked. Sorry its probably been asked but I've been searching for twenty minutes can the phone be completely relocked if the phone had issues.

Figured what out?
To return the bootloader to factory locked not relocked. Just wondering cause I'm kinda weary of certified like new phones. I don't want to root have the hardware fail and not be covered. Or is this even a problem can it just be sent in relocked
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA
There's no way to put it back to full on "LOCKED" It'll say "RELOCKED" but there's been many people who've returned their Rezounds for different reasons with no issues because 99/100 times, the rep will not check to see if it's been unlocked or not.
It's not a problem. So far, nobody has reported a problem retuning a phone that has a real hardware problem with the phone in relocked condition.
Cool that's all I needed to know thanks

I returned a relocked Rezound for overheating with no problem a few months ago, but nobody can guaranty you will be able to do that. Technically you do void the warranty as soon as you unlock it.

You don't void your warranty, HTC says you may void your warranty.
So by may void your warranty pretty much HTC means if you brick it from flashing say a radio or send it back running ics then your screwed?

M moms rezound broke. Well just the charging port so I cant hook up to PC to use fast boot and do that writesecureflag3 command. I don't want to send this thing back s-off.
Is there a way to brick it? With a ph98img.zip file?

Just send it the people who receive them don't give a ****. They just load the correct software on it and go to the next phone...I and many other people have done this a bazillion times. In fact I've never returned a phone that wasn't rooted AND running a custom rom.

In fact, some people have received devices that passed the "100 point inspection" that still had CWM or CyanogenMod still on them
I returned an incredible that still had cwm on it and a rezound that said relocked on it with no problem at all, I wouldn't doubt that they make that statement just to scare you into not doing it.

So, I just brought home a brand spanking new GS4 from a verizon store. Came out of a sealed box. I shut it down just now to put an SD card in. I boot it back up and notice something very peculiar, during the first boot after putting the card in, I didn't get the Galaxy S4 logo, I didn't get the Verizon logo, just an unlocked padlock and the word "Custom"
Kinda like my N10 which indicates the unlocked bootloader during boot. I shut it back down, rebooted, and it went away. It was just the first time after plugging in a micro-sd. Any ideas?
You didn't root or anything?
I'm getting the same thing, but followed by the Samsung and Verizon splash screens. I am rooted.

Hmm, interesting. Well, it doesn't seem to be doing it any more. Who knows.
This did come up for a lot of people after flashing the prerelease kernel for rooting. Once back on stock firmamware rebooting twice fixes, as it allows the bootloader to read and recognize that you are stock. If its gone now, you should be good. Go into odin mode and look in the top left, does it say custom or official?

I shattered the screen on my phone called for the one replacement for free no problems there. I chose to get the replacement device instead of having them fix mine. Should I flash this phone back to stock before sending it back in? I have boot loader unlocked but not S-off the phone. Any thoughts or experiences welcome. Thanks

I just went through this. Before I sent mine back I went S-off, locked bootloader, removed the tampered and relocked tags, and went 100% stock, I left it s-off since people say this trips the tags again and can cause other problems. They still tried to charge me $290 to replace the motherboard since it was unlocked (they check if you requested an unlock token even though this doesn't mean you used it). After arguing with them they finally said they would fix my phone for free since it was all stock ("HTC supported software").
Ultimately, you'll have to see what they say when you send it back. For some people, HTC hasn't said a thing even if they left s-on and had relocked tag, for others they charged them $290 no matter what. The only advice I can offer if this happens is to point out that there are two separate warranties, a Limited Warranty and an Expanded Limited Warranty (the screen replacement). The screen warranty says nothing about unlocking your phone voiding the warranty.
I opted for the replacement phone I'm trying to use the RUU to flash back to stock but haven't gotten it yet. Hopefully I can get it back don't really want to be charged that much
