Hey guys, I just switched to Verizon from T-Mobile, I was getting of T-Mobile's bull****, losing signal, dropping calls, also the battery on my S2 sucked horribly, so I finally made the move to Verizon. I got the DROID DNA becuase I always got to have the best and the specs, reviews were enough to drive me to it. So I got it and wow, this phone is amazing, but as soon as I walked out the store I made a phone call and said no SIM detected, so I went back in and sure enough the signal came back and I was set. Rep told me it sometimes takes a while for the SIM to register,
But as time passes I keep losing service, well the SIM card keeps going and I have to reboot the phone, sometimes it takes more than 1 to get service. At first I noticed it in my basement, service is somewhat ok. My girl has the iPhone 5 and she never loses signal, But whatever, this morning, at the train station open area, I had to reset my phone 4 times to get my service back. I already took the phone back to get it exchanged and they gave me a new one wiht a new SIM. This was Friday so I can say the issue has not gone away,
The phone is a beast and I love it, but cant deal with the SIM card issue. I think that store has a bad batch or DNA is not functioning properly with Verizon, anyone else having this issue. Btw I am in Chicago and work in downtown, on the 17th floor near a window, I have 2-3 bars and texts never go through 80% of the time. This is not cool at atll!
I have had this problem as well ever since I got the phone. I was getting it multiple times a day. I powered off the phone and re-seated the sim card and I haven't had the problem since.
Also you can check this thread here with other people having the issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010358&highlight=sim
I reset the sim card still had the issues and decided to pick up a new sim and haven't had the issue since.
Well I am going to do the SIM reset and see if that fixes it, before I just took it to Verizon and did a full exchange with a new SIM, so wish me luck guys!
I don't know what they are doing at Verizon, but I had to replace sim cards for both my wife's and my own DNAs. Have not had any issues since the replacement.

Push down hard how, I removed the SIM card twice and reinserted it and I still get the error. I seriously do not know what the problem is ;(
I had the same issue. I took it out and put it back in and rebooted and it seems to have taken care of it. There is definitely an issue.
I have the same issue. Through my research I found the best way to fix this is to go to the Verizon store and get a new SIM card. However, I have been too lazy to go.

Well since Wed I havent had the problem which is a big plus, i guess after so many reboots, remove and inserts, airplane mode, my phone said fine ill stay with service. Not once have i had to reboot it, not sure what i did last time but its solid now, lets see how long this holds up.
Happened to me while reading this thread, 2nd time in 24hrs!
Well haven't had the issue since i last posted, well before that. I guess it fixed itself, not sure but have not lot signal once, I guess its a intermittent thing or something, but i am happy because I really love my DNA.
I'm a Verizon rep at a store. What we've been able to figure out is that those at our warehouses who are pre-installing the SIMs are damaging them somehow. We recently went through a similar experience with our own on-hand stock of SIMs and we had our whole stock replaced. It is purely a physical issue with the SIM. If you experience any more trouble, head to your nearest friendly neighborhood corporate vzw store and have it switched.

Went by the store and picked my TB up this morning (was the first one to get one there), and they are having activations issues here in NC and TN. Great late launch day, lol.
Hardware looks great, and I'm up and running on wifi just to get my stuff loaded, but no incoming or outgoing calls till they get it sorted out.
I was the first one in my store as well. It took a while to get activated. Now I'm home and the data connection seems to be off and on.
Took about 15 mins to activate this morning.
I ended up restarting phone and it connected to Google immediately. Took a long time to get the rep to listen to me though.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Mine seemed to activate fairly quickly, about 5 minutes or so.
Got mine an hour ago. No issues here in Northern NJ. Wow this phone is great!
I'm still out, just put a call in to our local office and my rep is going to check on it. Just playing with the phone it's definitely MUCH better than my Inc was, now to just get root & s-off, and get rid of some of this bloatware, lol.
Took 30 minutes in my store...I was first again
Also the first person in, took about 15 minutes to get mine to activate. He said they were experiencing problems.
Possibly I'm close enough to NC to be included in their problems!
Same here with slow activation in Indiana. Then they couldn't swap phone numbers with my old phone (did add a line). The 4G SIM in the TBolt would not give up its assigned phone number. After half an hour they sent me home with the phone and said they would call when they had a fix. The guy just called and said I have to come in to finish it because the fix is to program a new SIM to swap the numbers.
Data working fine, though.
They got it sorted out about an hour ago, so now I'm running... Now comes the ordeal of moving my stuff from the old phone to the new.
First one purchased at my store. 3hours to activate. Could of been longer but did a batt pull and solved to problem...no thanks to anyone at the store. They had to activate my X on one if my unused numbers so I could do business while I waited. Wasn't happy! Otherwise this phone is all its cracked up to be. Finally have a phone I can keep for a while (grain of salt). I'm in Greensboro/High Point/Winston Salem NC market.

Same thing happened to me. They just gave me a new sim card. took more than an hour to get done.
Mine took about 20 minutes to fully activate, but that was mainly due to an issue with Sprint not allowing my old number to port to Verizon easily.
The guy next to me was trying to get his Thunderbolt activated and he mentioned to me that he had been waiting 30 minutes before I came to the desk. He wasnt very happy when I left before him.
My activation took over an hour but the issue was with the porting of my sprint number.
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk
Was in the store for over 30 minutes still activating. Ended up restarting and activated OK. North Brunswick, NJ. They said they were having major delays with tbolt activations
My activation is all messed up. Verizon activated my sim card for my number i transfered my upgrade from and my phone activated for the number i transfered upgrade to. now they said it could take up to 48hrs to have sim activation transfered.
Same here...Took 1.5hrs to port my number from t-mobile to Verizon. They said their system wouldn't work with the tb and they had to call to activate. Verizon then couldn't port my number because the names didn't match on both VZ and Tmobile...BB called bs and had to then create a temp number then port over latter on. It was a mess, good thing I was first @ 11AM and no one was there. They had 28 units and only 5 preorders.
I was @verizon when they 1st opened up @10am here in cali.. took them an hr to get everything all done.. Activated then had to tranfer to my current line from the add a line... now things are working fine, bye bye Dinc and D2G
Picked mine up at Best Buy, took about an 45-1hour to activate. I was the first TBolt they sold so I guess I got to be the guinnea pig. I had an upgrade on another line I was transferring to my line. They had to activate one sim with that number then switch the sim out and activate another for my number. Luckily they let me know ahead so I could give my daughter a heads up her phone may go out. Loving this phone so far!!
I've posted about screen issues before, but this one is perplexing me. My screen seems to decide when it wants to recognize when I touch it. I'll go to slide to change screens, and it wont accept it, instead it opens the app where my finger lifts off the screen. Anyone else have this issue, what could be causing it?
sent from my MoPho
screen dont respond?
Do you have a app manager to turn off applications that are running in the background..sounds like over processing also a cache cleaner help too.
Or maybe its just needs a master reset and battery removal..
I've master reset the phone several times, still the same issue. I've used app managers, with no change in functionality of the screen. I went to sprint today, and discussed this and other issues I've been having. They ran the diagnostic on the phone, but found no problems with it. I talked to the tech, and he asked me to demonstrate the problems. I showed them the network issues, and they decided to order a new phone

My screen sometimes doesn't register my touch,.sometimes it gets so bad that can't swype, have to touch each letter key, sometimes can't even unlock phone with pattern lock, because it will detect the initial touch but when I move finger over the screen it is as though I lifted off my finger. will remove battery, reboot, but doesn't help, it resolves itself at random, sometimes it's out of wack for a few seconds to a few minutes. Tried master reset but still does it.

Sounds like my issue, I like this phone, but the issues are becoming too much. I'm having connection problems, screen problems, and various other issues. I'm tired of trying to fix them, and getting very tired of arguing with the sprint folks. I didn't even have this many problems with my evo or my hero. I have pondered switching phones, and have been eying sprints Samsung dual core phone. But I don't feel like buying it, I have the insurance on this one, and feel like with the issues I'm having they could just swap me over to the other phone.

Hopefully the next update will resolve the issue, I am going to see if I can write motorola, you should too, the more people the better.

There is a digitizer pad underneath the glass, there is a thread here somewhere about it. It detects the heat/electricity from your finger. Seems that may be your problem BUT.............
It's obvious there is a problem, you have T.E.P, give me a phone. I have physically went into store 3 times in the last year and cussed (and I do mean cussed) someone out!! I did not have a bill on Photon until January!!!
I went to store on August 20th 2008. First thing the Technician asked me, "Have you had this phone for 30 days or longer?"
This Michael Vick Pit Bull 300Lb heffer told me It looks like I dropped my phone? (That was fun because 2 co-workers got on her before I started yelling and cussing! Everyone knows, I protect my toys! All of them!)
I'm in line and this 80+ year old lady's flip phone of 2 weeks had broken. Dude told her she had to send it back to manufacture and sent her on her way. I traked her down outside and asked for phone and receipt. Cussed his ass out, got her new phone (she was ashamed at language, but I got results!). I then sent letter to Sprint Executive headquarters with both her and my contact information! Free service!!!!!
The real problem is, all this stores are independently owned. Sure, Sprint gets a cut when they sell a phone. But your store only makes money when that store sells a phone. So therefore, giving you a Photon is giving away $630.00 to them. The $7.15 p/hr a**hole will do anything for you to go home and call sprint and work out replacement directly with them, not the store!
Stay strong!!!
There's been other problems than just this, I'm getting tired of dealing with the crap. We've had billing issues, phone issues, customer support (or lack thereof) issues. . . I'm just ready for a change.

I use a lot of data, so can't afford other carriers data plan, some "unlimited" plans throttle you after 2 or 5 gigs, I had t mobile hey throttle you after 5 gigs. So I will put up with the screen issues for a bit. Since many people are having this issue then probably getting another photon won't help?

Hey everyone. After receiving my VZW Galaxy Note II, my wife decided that she wants to upgrade to it as well. We placed the order for her device and we received it last night. Upon going to activate it I was receiving a no SIM error. I took the back plate off to check the SIM and the card was inserted backward, with the gold contacts facing up instead of down.
I popped the sim card out using the push in spring to release it. It came out smoothly, no force necessary. Upon pulling the card out, one of the pins is completely broken off in the tray. So I contacted Verizon.
Multiple calls later, multiple trips into a local store - I am told Verizon is washing their hands of it and we need to call Samsung to have it repaired. Is this for real? Does anyone know if the cards are inserted from Verizon or from Samsung? Why would a simple mistake like this not be covered by the worry free guarantee?
Does anyone have any suggestions?
the sim never comes preinstalled so that makes no sense to me.
yep the sim never comes pre installed but any way if you have asurion claim accidental damage and pay $100 is better than a $699

I had the customer service rep on the phone tell me the same thing, which caught me off guard. At my work, every 4G device we purchase wether its an Android or an iPhone - its always preinstalled.
The card was also damaged a bit too, because it only is supposed to go in one way. So it was inserted and then forced in.

They shouldn't have to pay for it if it's Verizon's fault. The sim is installed by Verizon or which ever 3rd party you have purchased from.

if it was from a 3rd party store then yes you right but I been verizon customer for 6 years and since the first 4g phone I have received never never had the sim pre installed
Fight to return the phone.
Make complains to Verizon. It is not Samsung's fault.
The question is who installed the SIM card.
If Verizon did, they owe you a new phone/SIM/whatever it takes to resolve the issue.
If You did, then you could try to get a new SIM and see if it works. If not... you're beat?
It sucks but it is what it is.
The SIM was pre-installed in my GN2....as well as my DNA. Caught the Verizon Clerk off-guard because she took out new cards from her drawer. I think new Verizon 4G phones (going forward) have their SIM cards already installed.
Pre-installed SIM Cards
I work at a Verizon store, and I can clear up the confusiuon about SIM cards being pre-installed. iPhone 5, Motorola Droid Razr/Maxx HD, and the Droid DNA all come in with pre-installed SIM cards. Where as none of the Samsung phones on Verizon do, well not yet anyway.
So, I just came by to let you guys know that it does happen, just not always.

Could you not return it (within your 14 day period) and get another one....Claim you wanted another color????? My vzw rep installed my sd card and sim card right in front of me, you would think he would make you do it to keep safe for this exact reason.

I thought about this as well. However, the last thing I want to do is it get sent back and then Verizon charges me retail cost for a phone that is defective - which is what the rep on the phone said would happen. Thats why I would "have to go to Samsung."
I contacted our Verizon rep that handles our account at work to see if he could intervene and help out a bit. He doesnt think he can do much either, but will look into it. Such a cluster, I'm livid with Verizon.

If you bought the phone from an authorized retailer, they are responsible to fix the damage. Buying if through a corporate store, I would've denied this happening at all.
Makes no sense, if it's defective it should be replaced

My Best Buy bought Note II came without a SIM. Obviously, the Verizon retards f'd up and they need to be held accountable instead of passing the blame to Samsung. Talk to Verizon corporate and file a BBB complaint.
Just got my 2 new GN2's today and neither of them had the SIM card installed in the phone. Pulled them out of the boxing brand new, had to cut the SIM card from the little credit card sized holder, and install them myself.
Was slightly embarrassing as I am used to simply clicking it in easily and when I was on the phone with Verizon activating them, I had to put the cards in and was having a really hard time doing so. You really have to click these things in deep on the Note 2 for them to be fully inserted. I had read this thread prior to getting my Note 2's so I was extra cautious in this situation. Had them put in gold contacts face down, the nipped corner on the left side, and just kept pressure on it until it finally clicked in place.
I could see why some people had problems doing it, especially if you compound that tightness issue with installing the card improperly.
Verizon is hiring a bunch of new people for the holidays and they dont know sh#t about sh#t. The girl could even get the back plate of the note 2 off..she finally did and inserted my sim card right out of my s3, she even asked me for my sd card. They should be fully responsiable for their mistake.

From what I gather, this phone was ordered online therefore it rules out the people in-store.
Well I have had the Evo 4g lte for over a year now and live in Tampa. I have never had a solid 3g connection for more than 30 seconds, it just stayed at 1x (even though the bar up top always said 3g) and now that 4g is all over down here I still have yet to connect to that. After multiple trips to sprint stores in Florida, Virginia, and Kentucky always being told everything checks out and that it just the towers or I call Sprint to only be told that it is just the prl. Well this weekend I went to a different store where the guy was actually perplexed that I didn't have 4g since the tower is across the street, and his Iphone was connected to it. So he made several attempts to fix and then took it to the tech guy to have it worked on who for a minute got it to connect to 4g but by the time it was back in my hands it went back to 1x. So they ordered me a new phone which came in today. This phone also would not connect, so the manager got involved and they went at it for at least a half hour trying so many different things up until they remove "sprint services" for my account and my phone fired right up onto 4g network for the first time.
Upon leaving the store I call sprint to try to get a credit for the past year of no service. Well they told me that the "Sprint services" that was removed has nothing to do with data and it is a tracking program they put on phones that are in upgrading areas for billing reasons. and that there fore I must have always had internet since I do use almost a full Mb a day through email and other account syncs and that me now having 4gt is just a coincidence. They are willing to pay 25 dollars for the inconvenience of such a long troubleshooting though, pretty much they are denying any blame, and yet shut me up. I wanted either a free month or release me from the contract... they laughed.
I am sure I am not the only one who has had this problem so please if you have had my symptoms please speak up, Also if anyone knows anything else about my situation and has some advice on how I can get something worth while, like a free month for the hassle please tell me.
And yes once I am finally out of contract I am switching to verizon even if their phones are disabled.
Man your never going to get anywhere with Sprint customer service. Forget about it. I've had first hand experience, and it never went anywhere other me getting extremely pissed. We were trying to get the Evo lte replaced with a s3 for the exact same reasons you are having. 4g connectivity issues out the ass with this phone. They said they could replace this phone with some cheap low spec lte phone that's like free on the sprint site because the s3 is not '' comparable''. They also lied and said they'd call back once the price on s3 dropped and then replace the Evo. Never called back and went to corporate to find out the cs rep said the problem was resolved when it was not. We did a burnout out right in front of the store. I'm just riding out the contract with the Evo as I gave up trying with cs, then switching to one of the major 2.

I'm 95% certain that was the name "Sprint servces" it might have been "Sprint sources" or some other completely unambiguous name like that but I will be back in touch with them today or tomorrow when I have a better understanding of where I should go with this and I will triple check the name then.
And when they first booted up the new phone that it went right into roaming mode
Had HTC One M8 for 15 days exactly. About 3 days ago started losing cell service. SIM card not reading in phone half the time im guessing, X through the service bars. Yesterday started not reading SIM at all, took to ATT, they gave me a new SIM card and said it came loose somehow. Still losing connection to SIM card. Every hour or so now, have had to take SIM card out 10+ times since 3pm yesterday when she told me" just pop the SIM out and back in" if it happens again. NOW the SIM card tray is frackin stuck in the phone. SIM tray remover nor paperclip works. Guess it wasnt desgined to be opened 30 times in 3 days(ATT told me to do this whenever I lose service).
TLDR SIM doesnt read, and SIM card tray stuck in phone. 15 days old. a day past ATT return policy.
Worst yet, im at 15days now, 1 day past the return policy at ATT. Thats why I took it there yesterday on the last day, but got the run around and shoved out the door.
What can I do? Pretty disappointed, first new phone I have had in years. Been using a damn Nokia Lumina 520 windows phone... Amazing phone ,but this whole not reading SIM card 2 weeks after opening box is sad.

go back to the same location you went to..
in theory you have a "30 day worry free guarantee" as in, they should replace it for you in store if its defected
the 14 day is a return policy if you want to cancel the contract or swap out for a different device
Call Att and demand to speak to someone in resolutions department.

Should they replace the phone in store or what? HTC will send me a replacement if I pay 30$ overnight shipping ,but I hope ATT will just fix this problem for me themselves. Don't want to have to pay any money considering this is 2 weeks old...

Well they gave me a new phone. but only because the manager extended my 14 day return/exchange and extra week since its been 15 days.
Hopefully no problems with this one.
I've been with AT&T for over 12 years (Cingular) and I've never had an issue with exchanging. 3 phone's ago I had the Samsung infuse...it was new at the time. After a few months I started having frequent call drops and vm issues. After a few mins of over the phone trouble shooting they sent me a new phone along with a prepaid box to sent my old phone back. No joke, within a yrs time...I had that phone replaced 3 times...yes, 3 times without a single issue. My frustration with this device couldn't be measured. I told them "do not send me another junk infuse...I want another phone". After some pursuading...I got them to allow my line to upgrade early. The carrier will always work with you.

Not true, after 14 days its up to the manager if he wants to extend it or not is what i was told last night. But hey guys this new HTC one M8 is doing the same thing. WILL NOT keep service in my house.. X through the service bars. I mean problems with another brand new phone 12 hours after getting it lmfao. There must be some serious design flaws with this phone. So incredibly disappointed. Going back again and hopefully the manager will yet again extend my 14 day return and I will get the cheap plastic S5 I guess. So ****ing sad.
Actually before I return again for a cheap S5 that I dont want( this htc is nicest phone I have ever purchased) I found an option in battery settings that cuts data connection after long periods of no use. I disabled that just now aswell as resetting phone. Hopefully that fixes my problems? That is when I notice I have lost cell service/data. After not using the phone for a few hours or sleeping, waking up with no data. HOPE it is because of that option in battery life. pray for me lol.
