What happened
1. I bought my Prime in March 2012
2. I sent in my Prime on the 2nd last day of Warranty on Late Feb 2013
3. After 1 Week
4. They replaced Touch Panel (+LCD) and my Camera
5. When I took a first look, "are my eyes playing with me?". I wasn't wrong. The LCD screen replacement has a terrible yellow tint. My pre-RMA prime LCD was perfect, whites were good.
6. Since my warranty is over, I can't ask for another RMA (rest of issues were fixed/improved) The only issue I had with my great Prime is the screen.
An advice for those Prime that are nearing expiry, get your RMA 2-4 weeks beforehand! You'll never know that RMA will make your Prime "worst-off"

LHS: Prime (after RMA, stock JB)
RHS: Dell 2209WA IPS Panel
Notes: I had a flex issue with my Prime on the right. So the RMA changed the whole LCD+Touch Panel. I did not specify them to change LCD though. Camera was spoilt.
I read a few users (Jan 2012) that the yellow tint goes away after 2-7 days. I am skeptical but will post updates if I notice a visible improvement.
Maybe it's a callibration issue? This wouldn't require an RMA.
I've just received my Prime back from Asus. I've dropped the tablet, and shattered the LCD (it was also unlocked). When I've contacted them, I've explicitly stated that it was my fault and I'm prepared to pay all the charges. Yet, a week later, my Prime is back and it was fixed under warranty, completely free of any charges.
What was the problem with the screen that it needed to be replaced?
I think that if you have all your paperwork that went with the RMA and that you indeed sent it in before your warrenty expired and even if one of the "fixes" is not right they should still cover that under warrenty. I know it will probably be a pain in the ass to try for that but that is what I would try.
Usually when you get something repaired under warranty, the repair is covered for X amount of days or the end of your original warranty, whichever is longer.
For example, I just got a hard drive repaired from Seagate.
They stated the drive is under warranty for 90 days or February 2014, whichever is longer.
I am sure that Asus will have something similar. {Of course I could be wrong.}
EDIT
I was chatting with ASUS:
Anthony D. wrote: "Okay, there would be a 90 day guarantee on the unit once it has been repaired by us."
So you should still be covered for 90 days for what was repaired, not the whole Prime.

I believe so.
1. I used the Color Temp App. I did make the color more blue but it felt unnatural. Furthermore it seems decrease FPS on homescreen scrolling but no noticeable effect on other apps.
I will do another comparison this weekend. (1 week gap).
Maybe all that needs to be done is to open prime and push the connectors in more tightly... maybe one of the wires is not making full contact, that is aleading to color distortion.

Sorry for the Noob Photoshoot. (Left: Prime. Right: Dell 2209WA)
Color comparison. Notice the Prime's White is Warmer.
This is Screenshot from Android
Disclaimer
1. Not shot under Professional Conditions (NEX5R)
Observations
1. White is Warm in Prime (after 14 days of normal use)
1i. Either Connector not Inserted Well (Unlikely.. Digital Signal)
1ii. Different LCD Suppliers as seen in Earlier Batches of Prime
2. Quick Fix: Using Colour Temp to Add more "Blue"
A. Drop in FPS especially in Homescreen (Sluggish)
B. Blue & Green doesn't seem to improve Whiter White.
3. Overall I am fine with the Warmer Yellow. No biggie. Overall my Prime experience has been awesome especially with Custom ROM.
Gist
4. RMA-ers do take caution of your returned Prime before your warranty expires in a couple of weeks time.

Yes that and also the two connectors from lcd to tablet base are from digitizer.
Just open tablet and push in the connector.... be careful to not overdo force.
Gentle pushing in from connector corners might do.

That's what they replaced my screen when I was rma'ed it for unlock device issue. I got it back and found out they replaced screen and I was happy about it. Better whitish, more clear. I bought it a month ago from craigslist and was told Asus that I bought it in 6 months ago at best buy. then they went ahead to rma it. very lucky. But sadly, cannot unlock it.

I wonder if there's a way to find out who makes the LCD panel for the Prime? That looks like LG's handiwork. They had huge issues with screen bleed on the O2X/G2X and got dropped as a supplier to Apple because of it. Sorry you drew the short straw. At least you'll have it to use until you can exchange it or send it in for repair. GameStop has a 30 day return policy for defects so make sure you get on the list for a second wave unit in January if you're going to exchange it.
It's worse in person. The picture dims it more. I don't want a freebie. If later down the road I sell this I have to knock the price down even more and most probably wont even buy it.

Thanks for the info. I'm on the phone with them now. Man this sucks. I wanted to rub in to my friends face who has an ipad2. Now I cant.
EDIT: I need to talk to a manager tomorrow to see what they can do. No one really has them in stock. Also they said they cant do refund since its what they consider a "system". But i'll what the manager can do tomorrow. Maybe I they add my name to the next batch like you said.
I'm not really surprised the way they had to rush these things out. Just sucks I ended up with a bad one.
damn i feel for u bro. i have light bleed but its only really only noticable on the asus boot screen...
put up a fight, we didnt pay this much and wait this long to have sreen bleed and non-functional gps. good luck to you and i hope u get a perfect one next time (if it even exsists).

I do admit other than the light leakage its built pretty solid. As far my issue, if its anything like any LCD tv there's probably something in there that got stuck between the screen and bezel. Probably easy fix if only I knew how to open it. The build quality is so tight I can't see how the heck they put it together.
You should be able to get a refund.
At least in the UK you would be able to.
If goods are not sold as advertised then auto refund.
If they have display model that does not have screen bleed then it is not sold as advertised.
Good luck.

So sorry to see this. A quick tip: be sure to also take pictures of the shipping container (inside and out). If there is no damage (dents/cuts) it was most likely the factory. Some of these companies are quick to try to blame the shipping carrier. Granted UPS/FedEx throw around and drop boxes but you will usually see some sign of it on the exterior of the box.
I'm not at all surprised. I bet they'll claim you did it yourself. I just got mine back from Grapevine and they didn't even seat the LCD and back plate correctly. The right side has severe light bleed, rippling, and a large amount of play between the glass and the back plate. I'm debating just taking it apart and trying to fix it myself. We all know which would be faster...
Asus gets to join Apple on the long list of companies I'll never buy from.
Edit: AHAHAHA. Took it apart and fixed it myself. Dumbasses left one of those rubber dock plugs between the battery and the LCD. I am officially more competent than ASUS repair techs.
I videotaped the box before, during opening, and turning on tab for the first time making sure it worked and all fit and finish was appropriate. Honestly I'm convinced it's because I took as much precaution as possible that everything (knock on wood) turned out ok.

Asus did issue me an RMA #, and I sent out with their Fedex overnight shipping label back to their Grapevine Facility (great....).
Tracking # shows that was received at around 10 am on 4/20/2012, by the Grapevine facility (same person signed for it when I first sent it in for RMA).
Unlike my last RMA # which actually worked and showed the status updates immediately, the RMA # I have now isn't showing up. So much for hoping for a swift RMA process this time around...
I'm tempted to call in, but I'm guessing the CSR will give me the boilerplate "It takes a 5-7 business days for an update."

Squeezing the case near the camera appears the temporarily fix the problem.....

Same problem . Wpgibson's solution works for me but I don't know how much it will last working...
The front camera works perfectly. It is definitely a hardware issue because it did not work even after a full wipe but worked instatly squeezing the case.
Edit: Not working again. I guess i'll have to send it for repair. All the primes have so bad build quality? Will it break in another three months? What should be the best tablet in the market is the worst nightmare. GPS not working, dead pixel, low-range wifi, bluetooth and wifi don't work together and now broken camera. I've never dropped my prime from a height greater than 10cm hand it has broken camera, tough I can drop my phone (happened a lot of times), or even my laptop from a table (happened once) and they won't break.
Let me know what you do, if you RMA your prime, I'm curious as to how to go about that process.

Call Asus tech support. They will give you some specific things to try to get the camera working again. If it doesn't work they can give you a rma. Expect to be without your Prime for 30 days or more if you send it in for camera repair according to a friend of mine who shipped his off last month for the same problem.

i don't know if the location makes a big differences but in canada it took less then a week from me shipping my tablet out, getting it fix and receiving it back =]
Just out of curiousity what is the first 6 numbers/letters of the serial on your guys prime?
This problem arose yesterday for me I have the bcokas. It really is a disgrace that we have to compare serials so that people can know what problem they should expect to see next. I coulda waited a few extra months if Asus had told me that the device wasn't ready for release yet.

Yesterday I noticed this issue with rear camera too - when I press near the camera, picture gets back, but it only lasts for a second or two.
Sending it today for a repair... btw, mine is BCOKAS.
i purchased 1 C3OKAS on march 30, experience this issue after 2 weeks using
sent it for RMA on april 10 then i had a call form asus center last week. when i received it, it got many scratches. i decided to send it back to change the back plate.
i purchased this sh.t, using 2 weeks and then sent for RMA for more than 1 month already. is this worth?
never go for asus anymore...
Did any of you guys who sent it to repair service got an explanation of what was wrong with camera?
Was it some loose connection or did they replace the whole camera part?
Ah, obviously yet another hardware/design flaw... really, I wouldn't be surprised if in a month or two, resistors and transistors start to fall out through the headphone socket...
this happened to me last week. Waiting til summer to send it in
I'm on a C10 model (from mid-february)
It's a GOOD thing I didn't take the unlock route yet!
to OP, can you pls let us know where you sent it? are you in the US?
Same thing here on both our Primes...
do you guys use the latest firmware .21?
it should be fixed in .21 theoretically.
if you still have this issue after re-install firmware.
it might be caused by hardware issue.
you should RMA your TF201

Hm, when one needs to physically press and/or hold the upper part of the tablet just to get camera working again for a while, then I really doubt that the software part has anything to do with it...
ok, to update, and respond to several questions:
1.) My model is also a BCOKAS model, purchased in late December through BB online.
2.) Its on the .21 firmware, I make sure the OS is up to date on the day they release the OTA's.
- As a side note, I fail to see how a firmware update would rectify a problem that was only fixed by squeezing the front glass and the rear case gently to the left and right sides of the rear camera.
3.) After I called Asus tech support, US toll free number, they gave me an RMA number and sent me two emails, one with the RMA info, and one with FedEx prepaid ground to their repair facility in Grapevine, Texas.
4.) Because I am anal-retentive, I had my wife shoot hi-res DLSR photos of the unit from a variety of angles before we packed it in order to document the pristine condition of the case and screen. Then, I shot video of my wife packing it up. I still had the origial box, which it went into, then that went into a bigger box with bubble wrap and newspaper to add further cushioning. Now, if ASUS repair tries to tell me the unit has customer damage, I'll be seeing them, armed with a lot of evidence.
EDIT:
-- Also, as a side note, I really do NOT expect there to be any issues with the repair or the whole RMA process, I think a lot of the *****ing that trolls through these threads, particularly the issue sthat never seem to get resolved, are largely bogus, and designed to run the "Asus" brand down. I've been pretty happy with the TF201 since I got it, and in fact I got my wife one as a present for passing the Bar exam and getting sworn in, so we have two in the family.
So I have had my Prime for 2 months, I went to plug it in to charge it the other day and the front part of the tab inside the port broke and all the pins bent back

I also inserted a micro SD card into the prime and watched some videos that were on it. I didnt take the card out and the next time i went to access it it was mounted and will not come out of the slot. Then on top of all that I have that LCD mura on my screen.
Now after hearing all the RMA stories on this board I have lost total faith in Asus, and I am reluctant to send it in for RMA but I have no choice since I can not charge the device
What the hell did you do....I've had mine for 4 almost 5 months and besides a little scruff on the body, it looks brand new still, all the connectors look perfect. You had to be like shoving it in and twisting to get it like that...
edit: could just be a defect. But holy damn that's crazy damage. Not something that should happen easy.
Looks like damage caused by user error to me.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
was most definitely a defect, I take extremely good care of all of my devices. The prime has only left my house once since I got it so it doesn't get travel abuse and it is in a protective case. Asus will most likely say it was user caused and not cover it, but unless i want a $500 pound paper weight I have no choice

I don't see how the dock would be able to put the forward-facing force to cause that to happen, even if you were shoving and twisting in a violent fit to get the Prime in lol
How are the pins held to the plastic, just manufactured in or are they glued? That sucks majorly, have a look at this similar thread. Pretty much same issue; someone lists some parts with links in there and I think one of them is the correct one. If nothing you can at least have a look, might be able to fix it yourself without shipping it off to one of their few approved repair centers and paying an arm and leg for it.
Well it has only been gone a week and I just checked the status and it has been fully repaired and is on the way back to me, so Asus didn't consider it customer induced damage. They must be getting a lot of them with this problem

I don't think it necessarily means their getting a lot of them. It seems to me they did the right thing and fixed it for you. Might also be some kind of record in turnaround time as well Did you have to pay for shipping?
Interestingly just last night I went to use my Prime and discovered that despite it been sat on charge the battery was low, I noticed that it wasn't charging.
I then tried docking it and the dock wasn't recognised.
I tried charging it again and while the cable connects fine the part it connects too seems oddly loose, as if its melted slightly and the 40pin connector is now "floppy". Without me holding the charging cable in place despite the fact it fits fine it hangs out at a 45 degree angle.
Called Amazon, they're couriering me a replacement.
I hadto pay to ship it to them, well my company paid for the shipping. I am just happy to beer getting it backso quickly
I understand the need for the proprietary port because of the dock but I just wish it had a micro USB port for charging
2 charges and mine bent
I had my prime for about a week. charged it twice. After the second charge i noticed all the pins were smashed inwards. I sent it into asus as well and it was repaired under warranty. sent in on 4-26-12 (day they recieved) and am getting it back at my house on 5-21-12. Seems a bit long for a repair like that. Seems like a lot of people are having this issue with the prime. I just hope that when they fix it that it's done with a new design so it doesn't happen again. I have had iphones, android phones, blackberry's etc and never ever had an issue with pins in the charge port bending. I will let you know how it looks and how it performs. I've been waiting for it to be repaired longer than I have actually had it (1 week).
don't listen to the bull**** about Rma , Asus always did a good job at it, i boufht a laptop from them ( actually everything that i have as far as pc goes are from asus, and the fan broke, it sisnt spin anymore so i sent it to them and got it one week later, it's just that they don't have everything In stock, sent my prime because the camera broke I've waited 1 week so far, I'm really starting to miss it

The task bar and anything that is suppose to be black on my screen has turned red. Even the boot screen is red. I took my Prime to the pool (not even close to the water) and I was playing games while watching the kids swim. I played a little Modern Conflict then went for a swim and my son kept playing for me. He put it down on the chair face up. Not really in direct sunlight. When we left I put it in it's sleeve and when I got home and took it out of sleep the task bar was red. I rebooted and the boot screen was red. Turned it off for a while but it's still red.
Anyone?????????????
Edit - I was so pissed last night I didn't explore this much. I opened my browser this morning and on yahoo's home screen all the areas that are suppose to be white are a sky blue color. This is also the way the stock e-mail app looks as well. ARRRRRGGGGGGAAAAAAHHHHHHHH
That's really weird... Just curious, if you take a screen shot, send it to your email and look at it on another device, is it red or black? Probably black, as I'm thinking it's a hardware issue, but just wondering. Really very odd though...

Thanks Steve,
I transfered a screenshot to my PC and shows the black normal. Appears to be a hardware issue if the software is rendering the proper colors while creating the screenshot. I guess I'll have to venture into RMA hell.
I have not tried a full factory reset yet. Getting all my data backed up first. Pushing the reset button does nothing.
EDIT - Pictures added
Here are some pictures I took with my phone since screenshots render properly. The first picture is how my home screen used to look like. The rest are of the problem.

That looks like it is probably hardware damage but it might be worth trying a factory reset before going the RMA route. It could be a problem with drivers that might be resolved by a reset.
Factory reset did not work. Going to RMA
did you drop the prime at all? or something fell on it or bumped it really hard? maybe something with the display connector is loose.

maybe caused by a magnet????? just like in old tvs if you put a magnet clse to the screen ir messes up all the colors.
No, no magnets on a plastic lawn chair. LoL
Put it in the sleeve at the pool. Set it in the car where I always do. Took it out when I got home and set it on the dining room table. Woke it up about 30 minutes later to check e-mail and that is when I noticed the red. Rebooted with no help. RMA in progress.
I have noticed something since this has happened. Before, when I'd play games or surf heavily the back of my Prime would get warm right where the SoC is located. I've also been having random shutdowns when playing THD games. I think my NVIDIA chip may be messed up. Now the thing runs really good and it doesn't get warm anymore. I've not had any shutdowns since this happened. Maybe something in one or all of the GPU's was messed up to begin with and now that it fried it runs better. I know that sound crazy but I've seen chips do some strange things in the past (I work in the semiconductor industry).
Anyway, hopefully ASUS will replace my motherboard because I don't think it's software related.
Just sent my Prime in for repair. I'll report back what they find just in case you are interested or develop the same problem.
Crazy lol
Yeah, I'd say that's definitely an issue with the GPU. Loose cable could be it, but you usually don't see distortion like that if that's the case. That sucks, hopefully you'll get it back fixed.
Sorry I didn't report back sooner but I RMA'd it and it came back fixed. Total RMA time was a little over a week.
I'll have to send it back soon because I don't think the tech that did the repair connected my rear camera back good enough because I now have the green lines on the camera issue and also my charging brick died the other day. Just another day is Prime paradise I guess.
My Prime has been in RMA for a week now. Had the same problem (and many more) as yours, with the blacks turning red. Hopefully I'll be getting mine back soon then as well.
