In all reality it's really not just 1. I can see 8 on my phone, but some brighter then others... So it has to be a bunch of them together(stuck white in my case)

Yes, other people with the One have had dead pixels. If it's over a certain threshold (somewhere in the range of 4-6 dead ones) you can go into a store and have it quickly replaced.

Guy on the phone was telling me it was going to be a 35 dollar restocking fee lol.. I got pissed and pretty much hung up the phone. I'll go in right now and see if they will swap it out really quick. should I bring everything or just the phone?

Just curious, were the dead pixels in the same place?

No they were in different places on the scenes. Both down towards the bottom though.

Just use the screen test app. Crank the brightness up (easier to see that way) and just look at the black screen if you have dead pixels it will look like a pinhole in the black. You can also cycle through the other colors but usually is most noticeable on black

I have a couple that I didn't notice till I used the app. Do you think it's worth returning?

New dead pixels

so i ran the dead pixel test the day of getting my phone on launch day. No dead pixels, but while my phone was transfering screens, I noticed what looked like one today, so I re ran the test and sure enough, I have a dead pixel.... Is this covered? Is it even worth exchanging for a new one? Do i need to indoor and stock my 3vo?
Sent from my PG86100 using XDA Premium App
Depends.. Are you still in your 30 days?
I have 6 dead pixels, i'm exchanging today. You don't see them unless you run a test for it, or you're watching a movie and that part of the screen is black.
If you still have the option, i would always exchange.
well, I got the phone on launch day...
I do pay for the extended warranty too.

Then your only option is to smash the screen with a hammer and claim it on insurance for $100. Your past the 30 day exchange and one dead pixel is not good enough to require an exchange. Are you sure its dead and not just dirt on the screen. Its not common for pixels to fail after that much use, they are usually DOA from the manufacture process and missed in quality control.
What's the test to see if u have dead pixels

Exchanged my Galaxy SII for a new one...

And of course the new one has to have a white spot on the lower left side
I'm having awesome luck here, It doesn't look like a dead pixel either. It looks like part of the screen is burnt.

I'd take it right back in for a new one
They currently don't have any in stock at the moment, going to check back tomorrow afternoon.
The manager was like YO, NO MORE EXCHANGES AFTER THIS ONE.

I have to believe that this guy reports to someone else, whether in the store or not... I'd call the store and get a hold of who that person is and forward on this situation. There's no reason they should push away a customer if they have a verifiable issue with multiple devices. Sounds like a complete d-bag to me.
You should be getting a customer experience survey via sms in a few days. write your feelings there. trust me, they'll see it.
why not exchange it at a different store? You dont need to keep going back to the same one to exchange it.

Screen test for dead pixel.

How do you perform a screen test for dead pixel at an AT&T store? Don't you have to open the package and install the app from the App Store? Does the store allow you to do it?

Tell them that you have seen a lot of dead pixels on these units and want to make sure before you leave the store. Install the app and check
If they say no just go to your car and check and walk back in and say it's bad please replace. This is what I plan on doing

Not true, I've had 3 in my possession. First had no dead pixels at all (had a faulty headphone jack though), 2nd had one single dead pixel. the current silver one I have has none either. Hoping my Black 64GB doesn't have any when it comes
I'm actually thinking of switching to black hoping that the don't have this issue since the came out later. I just don't know if black will scratch easily.

Doubt it, Josh above got a black yesterday that had a bunch of dead pixels.
I'm probably just gonna return it then. Might go with my backup plan of getting a nexus.

Two silver ones, zero dead pixels.
A lot of posts about dead pixels. I'm curious, the stores will take them back with 1 or 2 dead pixels without issue, or is it manager discretion? Do you guys have to make a big stink about it to get it replaced?
I agree it's quite a bit of change we're shelling out for a device, but for televisions/monitors, most electronic retailers have a dead pixel policy stating a minimum of somewhere around 3-5 before they'll accept it for exchange/refund.
0 dead pixels here as well. I think this could be a case of the Internet magnifying an issue that happens on <1% of devices. I could be wrong though.

I've had 3 HTC Ones and 2 of the had dead pixels...(more than 5) if it is less than 1% I must be extremely unlucky...

Yeah I'm one my 5 or 6 phone and am still finding them. I only see them when I run the app to test for them. I guess I need to figure out what I want to do before my 14 days are up. Honestly even though I do t want to I might get a nexus 4 instead if the announce bigger storage this week.

Those with dead pixels

Just curious if you are gonna keep your device or not. I personally have been though at least 5 HTC one's all with dead pixels. Don't know if I should just go with a nexus device instead of trying to get the perfect HTC one.

You will find a perfect one. Go to a store, test them before you leave. Or just send it in to HTC they said the would fix them.

Just say you have been through *blank* amount of units and they all have dead pixels and you want to get this phone but don't dont ant it to have dead pixels. I don't see them giving you a hard time. Or if they give you a hard time just get it and test it there and turn around and get them to change it.

Well I returned my silver one and got a black one because I know they arrived today. Everything looks good though ran pixel test really quick and didn't notice anything. I didn't sit there trying to look for one though, maybe I'll just leave it at that.

It's my experience with AT&T that you don't even get to touch the device until you swipe your card, but could be different depending on where you live

[Q] What does a bricked phone look like?

Hi guys,
I bought a SGS4 the other day for $300 used. It came in the mail and it doesn't seem to work. I want to take it to Verizon to get a warranty replacement, but I'm afraid whatever is wrong with it was caused by the previous owner doing something that voided the warranty. Worst case scenario is I have to pay another $99 and use Asurion to replace it which I'm totally willing to do. Basically it turns on, but the LCD doesn't, only the backlight. It also gets super hot super quickly. I doubt it's bricked, I'm guessing water damage or the LCD went bad.
Take out the battery, put it back in, hold down volume and power, what happens?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
If you think it's water damage check the sensors. And did you buy it with the impression that it was working 100% and nothing was wrong with it?
