you can backup/restore both stock/ custom roms, the default will restore the whole backup replcaing the existing one, you can make advanced restore to restore specific backup.

Yea you can restore your stock rom any time with Cwm recovery. As long as you have cwm recovery in your new custom rom you can acess your backups. So be sure you flash cwm recovery on your custom rom btw most of rom's come with cwm so you don't have to worry if not you can flash cwm recovery from odin too. Just search on google about cwm touch
Hope it helped you.
Thanks me i my words are helpfull.
Thanks You All cuz im not happy with this rom i wanted to go back..thanks again

As far as my expereriance, after restoring a ROM form your backup it is always a good idea to wipe Cache and dalvik cache befor rebooting. (not the factory reset..that will wipe your applications this you do before restoring only)
how will you restore to stock via CWM if CWM is via a rooted kernel .
It will be a non stock kernel .

I think here everybody meant by "Stock" is the first ROM which was there in the phone..no matter its rooted with a custom kernel.....

But its not original and voids warranty if restored was my point .
Far easier to grab a download of the original rom .
OP did say stock rom and not custom rom so the answer is as always not via CWM its no longer a stock rom once rooted .

Hey, I just flashed latest 4.1.2 in my I9300 and after that When i flashed 4.2.2 XUFME7 I have the error "Emergency calls only", I think it`s probably from my baseband, probabily it modified my efs (being a new baseband, new format), so when I go to 4.2.2 which probably has a old baseband I get that error, my question is "Can I flash the latest baseband in 4.2.2?", If yes, how can I do that, is anyone have the latest baseband, can someone help me?
Can I flash the latest 4.1.2 baseband in 4.2.2? Where can I find this baseband?
Yes, you can find the XXEMG4 modem in general section
And efs and ROM itself are separated 2 parts, doesn't effect on each other except RIL but it's not big deal.
Main goal is related with EFS, if you have old EFS backup (before XXEMG4 ) then you can use any older modem as long as you want, of course you have to restore the old efs backup to make it compatible.
And if sadly you don't have old efs backup, you can still stick with XXEMG4 or higher modem, just flash modem after you flash ROM then you will be fine

Ok, but where exactly can I find xxemg4 modem flashable in odin? Cuz I don`t have a backup to my efs folder.
No efs bkup and you started flashing roms..o dear. Flash mg4 zip through recovery not odin. You need to read alot more before you break you phone

Ok, but is there any way of doing that without rooting my phone? And if i flash philz recovery is this means I will change my kernel also?
As above but why not just root it. You've just flashed a leaked firmware so why not root

No,kernel and recovery are separate. I have siyah kernel and philz recovery. Edit..just to add there is no custom kernel for 4.2.2 leak.

So, if I flash philz recovery with odin it will root my phone also? I don't mind rooting it, but I mind changing my kernel. Also, can I flash philz recovery when useing 4.2.2 stock rom? And believe me I used 4.2.2 XUFME7 stock rom.
try this go ahead and use odin but flash the leak again. yes reflash it but replace the baseband with any mg4 or mg2 that you like. sometimes flashing just the baseband wont work but flashing it as part if a rom will . the best thing imo is to just flash a stock rom from sammobile that uses an mg4 or mg2 baseband
No if you flash philz it wont root it but there is a zip to flash in philz thread. And no it wont change the kernel and yes you can use philz with 4.2.2

Hello, you're out of topic, I know what I have to do, but I don't find anyware a xxemg4 modem flashable in odin, I want that so I can update my phone back to 4.2.2 XUFME7. Now my questions are those from the above.

So that means I don't have to root to solve my problem, right? I just have to flash philz?
Correct. Cwm is the key. Then you can flash the zip.

since the rom you flashed is based on MG5 latest release, it changes efs partition into a new format.
1st simple step: check your apn settings.
is your imei okay?
if yes, then flash stock MG5 via odin and then root it and flash the same rom via mobile odin.

If you have ever flashed XXEMG* (or newer) ROM, to keep your IMEI working, you must:
Stay with the EFS v2 basebands (MG* or newer). You may flash other ROMs but must return to the MG* (or newer) baseband
Restore your EFS backup (taken before XXEMG* or newer ROM install) to use older (EFS v1) basebands. EFS backup must be an EFSv1 backup to use an EFS v1 baseband
If the above don't work, consider sending for repair
I have S3 GT-I9300.
It's probably the 10th time I am asking for help on XDA. I have been trying to install CyanogenMod and other custom ROMs from 6 months with no luck. The problem is whenever I install 1 of the custom ROM I lose my network. I have also tried flashing the modem of JustArchi with no luck. I am dying to taste a custom ROM. It would be greatly appreciated if anybody would help.
Thanks in anticipation.

Have you formated modem/efs ? I personally never done that allso make sure you're on the latest [insert recovery of choice here] version? Allso how can you have imei and network on samsung based rom and not have them on CM? Check on samsung rom if imei is the same as the one behind the battery or on the box you've bought your phone.

Also next time write in Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting or General, this isn't development related, you're just experiencing android zero issues.

I dont know how I have formatted the modem/efs. I just wipe data cache before installing the rom. I am using philz_touch_6.48.4-i9300. The IMEI on the rom is same as that on the back of the phone.
Sorry I didn't notice that I posted in the wrong place. How am I supposed to move it to the right place.
This has been answered multiple times, there is a thread about that, it's all about patched kernel/modem, also, you're posting this in wrong forum, there is Q&A for that!
Use boeffla and patched modem, but first return to stock, i guarantee it will work.
Steps:
Flash stock: Stock 4.3
Flash Boeffla (sammy version): Boeffla 5.3
Flash patched modem. Modem
-> Till here you got to have your network back.
Then flash your desired AOSP ROM, and then flash a patched kernel like Boeffla (for AOSP, but watch out, there are CM and Omni based roms, so is Boeffla kernel, if you use CM, download for CM), because only patched kernel can read a patched modem. When you do that you don't have to flash patched modem again because CM/AOSP based ROMs do not wipe modem.
And remember BACKUP EFS
And if IMEI is ok you don't have to restore EFS, you only restore it when your imei is 0000... or 0049..., for Emergency calls only and Baseband unknown follow my steps.
Just follow these steps and you're good to go.
Someone should make this sticky.

Well, no, you can flash any stock rom, as long it is 4.3 based, you can see that under this thread you have many more stock, deodexed cwm falshable roms based on 4.3 by JustArchi, i linked you that because it is easier to flash in CWM then via Odin, but again, your choice.
As off Boeffla, here you can download all versions, recmmended are latest stable:
http://www.boeffla-kernel.de/index.php/2012-10-31-06-13-16
You can see there are for Samsung 4.3/4.4, and Omnirom based or CM based all the way down. (double check if you will run omnirom or cm based rom).

Flashify can do that.
TWRP has option to backup boot partition, but haven't used that, so can't tell if this backup contains kernel, maybe somebody can tell this.
