[5.0 US] 3.0 Kernel Problem with CWM and Download Mode - Samsung Galaxy Player 4.0, 5.0

Ever since I flashed the 3.0 kernel my download mode is not recognized by any computer or odin and Mounting USB Storage using CWM does not work. Anyone else issue this when upgrading to the 3.0 kernel?

this is caused because fast charge is forced by sultan kernel. the newest version should fix the issue

I have installed the latest version but mount usb storage in cwm still just flashes the screen does not mount anything and download mode not recognized .
Im thinking maybe windows 8 has something to do with the download mode issue but until i can get my hands on a windows 7 computer I have no way of knowing.

The kernel doesn't affect download mode but it does affect the ROM and the recovery (it affects the recovery because the recovery doesn't have its own partition; the recovery is usually unaffected by the kernel on other devices). The download mode issue is probably because of Windows 8; however, the recovery and ROM issue was caused by my kernel (Sultan) unless you're running the newest beta. The newest beta has the issue fixed; if you're running the newest beta and your computer still isn't recognizing your device then it's probably Windows 8 that's causing the problem.

Ah I figured as much. I will have to try it on another computer windows 7 or windows xp. As for the CWM problem even with your latest kernel r5b2 I still can not mount usb...

Just go back to version 3.5.

[Q] Lg p500 stock rom problem

Hi guys i know this may sound stupid but
yesterday i flash my lg p500 with franco kernel(v19.4) and cm9 rom using boot recovery mode and everything was fine(while installing a new rom i had made backup of my stock rom and franco kernel) but at the evening i found that my younger brother accidentally backed up everything which means now again i am on android 2.3.3 and he has formatted the sd card.
so i thought i can again upgrade it but i found some major problems
1. my o1 is not connecting to pc
2. camera is not working
3. Bluetooth is not getting on
and so more
LG P500
rom : stock rom(android : gingerbread 2.3.3)
kernel : franco kernel 19.4
software version : V20C
plz guide me what do i do now ?????????????
Thanx in advance
Not sure what ur asking exactly.
Try flashing a more stable rom or the cm7 nightlies.
The camera does not work in 4.0.3 as its very buggy(still in beta state)

but i am unable to connect to my pc so that i can flash my o1.
camera and other things are not working in a stock rom not in cm 9
You're running an official LG Gingerbread with a 2.6.32 kernel? That's wrong. Flash any .35 kernel. I recommend this one: http://www.mediafire.com/?lf87arbc491f5y2
By the way, I think you still can mount the sdcard on recovery to transfer files to it.
no my kernal version is 2.6.32.46 franco v19.4
and my pc is not recognising my o1 then how i transfer files for flashing
You could always download the rom through your phone and flash it that way, just don't format SD card, can still wipe data/cache/dalvik.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Or if you have a sd card reader for your computer just take it out of your phone and put the file on it that way
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
As I said, it's wrong to use a .32 kernel with the stock Gingerbread. You have to use a .35 kernel with this ROM.
Download any .35 kernel, turn off your phone then boot to the recovery through the buttons combination, then mount the sd card to transfer the files to it and flash.
Or make the mentioned above, downloading through your phone then enter recovery to flash it.
yup buddy i am doing the same let's hope this works.
m totally blank pla help shows error
1. Can't mount /sdcard/
What exactly are you doing? And did you try what I suggested?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Download a .35 kernel to stop having the errors. You have 2 ways.
1. Download on your PC, then boot into recovery on your phone, connect it to your PC through USB and go to "mounts and storage > mount USB storage". After this you can flash the kernel.
2. Download on your phone then go to recovery and flash it.
Can you download the file from your phone? Not your computer. As in go to the spot to download on your phone browser not your computer. Then reboot into recovery and install from SD.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
now i have flash my kernel(link given by you)
and reboot and look what has comes
Fastboot mode started
ud_start()
--suspend--
--reset--
My guess would be that the .32 kernel messed something on the ROM.
You were on stock Gingerbread with the (wrong) franco.kernel .32 before, right? No more modifications?
Only do this if you have no alternatives.
In worst case scenario, you can copy your backup from the sd card to the PC (on recovery), turn off your phone and boot on emergency mode (back + volume up + power), connect to the PC and use KDZ to flash the stock ROM again (selecting EMERGENCY instead of DIAG).
Then with a system running OK you could install the recovery again, copy your backup to sd card, restore it and try something that solve the problem this backup has.
i have downloaded cm 7.1 rom but when i try to install big error list comes
and at the end installation aborted
wat should i do now ??
right now i am on stock rom and on kernel(link given by you)

But it doesn't boot, right?
yes that's the main problem.............

Boot loop

CWM Recovery, I've wiped everything. I've also tried going into fastboot but it stays in "starting fastboot protocol support". When I connect and run "moto-fastbboot devices" nothing shows up. I tried installing the drivers but it does not recognize my OS(windows 8). The ROM I've tried flashing is CM10 v 0.2.0. Everything was working fine before then, didn't have any problems flashing v 0.1.2.
Wipe the caches and reflash. Fastboot shouldn't be needed for that.

yeah why do you need fastboot to install cm10 v0.2.0? just wipe system data cache etc and install zip from sd card with ur cwm recovery

Yes, I've done all of that. Everything that is needed for a clean install.
Try flashing the 1.3 kernel? People have had problems with the 1.4.
Or maybe just restore a backup and see what happens?

The only reason I was trying to use fastboot was to see if kernel wasn't flashing right but even that isn't working all thanks to my OS(W8). I'm about to check if cm9 works and work my way down from there.

I didn't create a backup as I don't care about the data on phone. I've worked my way to GB and nothing is working. I'll have to wait to get my hands on a Windows 7 machine so that I can run fastboot. Anyways, thanks for the help given so far.

Nope, I've been looking for those drivers and all that I've come across give me the same error "Does not recognize OS". I'm making a backup of my PC atm. Then reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7 Pro, with Dual Boot to Windows 8 and Linux.
Just because, have you tried a different USB port? Windows is funny that way.

Soft bricked GS3,how do I flash stock ROM using linux ?

I was formatting my phone's internal storage in TWRP recovery and I accidently wiped my ROM instead of formatting data. Now there's no OS on my phone i.e it's soft bricked.Odin won't detect my phone on my winXP PC,I got the samsung drivers installed and I made sure no kies process is running.I tried mounting the storage in recovery but when I click on it on my PC,it tells me ''please insert a disk''.I wanna try flashing stock ROM using ubuntu but I just don't know how.I know it's by using hemidall but I'm not very experienced with linux.I just need the codes that I have to put in the terminal.
Can you boot in to TWRP recovery? If you can, you could just flash another rom from there. If not i just did a quick search of google for "i9300 flash stock firmware heimdall ubuntu" and came across this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1947975

You can always put a rom on your external sd card (if you have one) just plug it in to an adapter (again, if you have one) and pop it back in the S3. And i bet in future you'll make a back up
Good luck.
Didn't work and I don't have an external SD.Well I guess I'm f***ed :/ NOPE.As I was typing this,I thought about trying to boot my phone while it's connected to the PC and while it was stuck at ''galaxy s3'' logo,it installed additional drivers(I thought all of them were installed) and odin detected my phone.I just saved myself a visit to my other house where my main PC is which I used to do all the flashing stuff before moving here Thanks for your help

There's a program called HeimDall. You can use that to re-flash stock firmware or you can install VirtualBox and Windows on top of that, then you download the stock firmware to the virtual machine and Odin and you can set it to read/write to and from the USB ports
Hope I could help!

And what made you try a rom in development when you don't have the means to recover from disaster which would surely happen?
Try to see if in the stiky for windows 8 drivers, and flashtool windows 8 instructions if anything works there for you.

Do you use USB 3 ports? Someone have posted solution for them a while ago in the forum, search it.
If you are able to enter cwm then mount the sdcard and load the zip of the rom previously installed on your phone and flash it !

Is you cwm recovery still functioning?
If it does see if you can mount USB storage and copy rom zip to it.
Do your PC recognize the phone, even in flashmode?
Windows key + R, type devmgmt.msc, connect the phone and look if the screen turns white. If it recognized then flashtool should have it too, if not, install drivers as @chickeD said.

I wasn't talking about flash mode. When in CWM go to mounts and mount USB storage at the bottom, in theory you should be able to mount it on your PC, never work for me though because I cannot find the MTP drivers or maybe my CWM is not the greatest, but I never had one that did work.
Did the disable driver signing from flashtool site didn't work either?
Also look at this post and see if that works for you.

follow the intructions for flashing the rom as suggested by op in cm11 thread and u will have no bootloops
Man, flash other ROM that it worked on your phone. I think the most important here is to get out of that bootloop so flash stock or other ROM like eXperience.
Later on you can flash CM11 from the computer.

Installing newest TWRP without odin

So I have problem:
My S3 just doesn't want to be recognized by PCs I have any more. It also acts strangely that sometimes it just doesn't want to charge and when it completely drains of the battery, this happens: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ower-hands-t2354859/post77159482#post77159482
Problem with connecting with PC is that the phone doesn't want to be recognized when in download mode on two PCs and few different USB cables I have. I've installed all the drivers and so on. The problem must be in the phone itself...
My current recovery is TWRP 2.8.0.0 and I would like to update it to latest 3.2.2.0 but TWRP comes only as .img and because of connection problems, I can't use Odin to flash it.
Currently I'm using UltimaROM which has really bad battery life compared to archidroid rom which is THE BEST rom for S3 (if I could only keep it stable). To compare,UltimaROM drains battery in a day on standby while on Archi it lasted amazingly 15 days!!!
So, any idea how to:
1. install latest TWRP
2. stabilize archidroid
3. recommend me best battery life/performance rom
@gesaugen: try mobileOdin or TWRPmanager
You can put the TWRP onto an SD card, boot into TWRP, and flash the newer version.
@audit13: TWRP 2.8.0 cannot flash images, this feature is added in 2.8.4.

ok, I've tried both and none worked:
TWRP manager can't install .img files and mobileOdin Lite doesn't give me option to select file to flash as is shown on YT videos about it although I've downloaded .apk for my device (i9300)
No luck there
also I've experienced strange problem after trying to boot into OS (UltimaROM) - it asked me for SIM pin and after entering it immediately I got the error that the com.android.systemui has crashed.
So by looking at the pattern, it seams like the pone can't hold on to system files after it has been powered off for longer periods of time (I've been keeping it shut down for few days till yesterday). Any idea why is that? Is there some internal battery that is used to power the phones vital functions which can go bad?
@gesaugen: I didn't use MobileOdin nor TWRP-Manager. TWRP-site says, that their app downloads and flashes images (only), but cannot flash them from extSdcard for now.
Closing systemui can be caused by any fatal fault, but mainboard and RAM haven't eternal live either. General test and remedy is flashing a 3part-firmware +PIT-file by Odin. You can enter Downloadmode normally?
I've flashed Archidroid FW via recovery as I've had it on the phone already. It flashed normally and the phone works fine (for now). I'll test it by letting it drain it's battery to the max and then try to recharge it as that caused problems with OS last time it happened (the Archidroid had to be reinstalled fully because after battery drainage, when it tried to boot, the phone acted like it had factory reset but it couldn't finish configuration of the system so it started to boot loop like it has constant factory reset. That was happening until the OS was re-flashed via recovery)
yes, I can enter the download mode normally but my phone can't be recognized by PC, tested on two PCs...

I like to proceed step by step If you want to make a clean base, you'll have to repartition and reflash firmware. Next step is to delete all your Samsung stuff (drivers, KIES...) from your PC. Then reboot and install SamsungDrivers (Win10 does it automatically iirc) and Odin 3.13.1. Boot S3 into Downloadmode and connect to PC (use USB-port of mainboard). Connects?
Mobile odin has to be the full paid version to flash. As far as I can remember it won't flash img files either.
Your other options are to flash a zip version of twrp or repair the USB port.

If you have root, you can use TWRPManager app from playstore. Allready updated 3 times and allways worked. (you need to get the .img file, after downloading, reopen the app to be able to choose the file & flash it.
