locked SGS3 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have andyXrom
and i did put a password
and unfortunately i forgot it
and i don't want to install a new rom
how can i open it ??
btw no matter how many times i put the password wrong i get 30 seconds to put the password again

Only way would be factory reset or just try dirty flashing the rom

i have whatsapp massages
the only reason i don't want to factory reset :crying:

Hmm..Maybe this site could help you?
http://droidlessons.com/how-to-reset-your-android-lock-screen-password/

didn't have any luck with any sulotion

factory reset is your only option! your what's app msgs will be restored if you flash a stock rom I think!

Passwords are designed not to be circumvented.
If you work out where the whatsapp database is, you could connect phone in recovery mode and adb pull the database before ressetting the phone
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2

any videos or tutorials on that ?

Probably.
First Google where whatsapp keeps its data...
Plenty of guides to use adb if you Google it

Serial Number: 000000000000000

Hi
Can anybody help to get back my Serial number.
After unlocking, flashing it turned to :00000000000
I have Efs folder backup, restored it but doesnt work
thanks
Have you tried reverting to factory recovery, if you are not rooted. If rooted you may need to unroot first and do a factory recovery but ensure you back up your personal data and APN settings to your pc first.

I have the same "issue" with mine. I have flashed via ODIN back to stock and still zeros. This might cause my other problem, no sim connection but I have not found a solution yet. Hopefully we can figure this out.
If you had a copy of your efs folder, use it to replace the current efs folder. That may help. On the other hand, if you can get a tab of the same specs, copy the efs folder there and use it to replace yours. The drawback may be that the two tabs will have the same IMEI number, which you can then change to your original number. There should be an app to change the IMEI number.
Hope this helps.

What? There is just a 30 seconds timeout and after that you can retrt the pattern.
But if you don't have a hardware back button it will be clumsier. Power off and power on should do it.

Are you rooted with cwm recovery installed? If so, do a nandroid backup, reset the phone to factory then simply restore apps, data and sms and wifi etc with Nandroid manager.

1) Download the CWM for your phone. Make sure it is the exact one for your phone.
2) Place your phone in Download Mode by holding Power+Vol Up+Home
3) Download Odin (I normally use Odin v 1.85)
4) In the PDA field, load your CWM MD5 (If you don't have an MD5, extract it from the ZIP file)
5) Connect your phone to the PC. If Odin detects it, Odin will display ADDED!
6) Make sure the only box that is checked is Auto Reboot. MAKE SURE YOU DONT HAVE REPARTITION SELECTED!!!
7) Click start.
Reboot into recovery and wipe cache and Dalvik cache. Then:
-Navigate to backup
-Navigate to Backup to External SD (safer that way)
-click start. The backup will take a while and will probably be around 3~6GB
-when that's done, I would advise you to backup your internal SD.
-after that, wipe user data.
-reboot the phone and follow the setup as usual. You'll need to sign into your google account but at this point you would've had the opportunity to turn on the wifi.
It may sync all of your apps. Its a temperamental google feature. Then go into Google Play and buy NANDROID MANAGER pro (support the guy who's gonna save your bacon)
You should still be rooted. Before running Nandroid Manager, install busybox from the play store.
In nandroid manager, select your backup. Swipe left and select restore sms. Note that you should change the default sms limit to unlimited before restoring SMS. You can also restore apps and data from the app.
Now this is relying on the assumption that you are using a Samsung phone. If not, the process for flashing CWM will be different.
Hope this helps.

[Q] TWRP not booting

I used Goo to update TWRP (I think to 2.6.1) and now the phone won't boot to recovery. It just comes back to the system every time. Tried booting to recovery from Goo, tried power on/vol down and selecting recovery, it always just goes back to the home screen. Not sure what to do next...

You need to re flash twrp in Odin to get your recovery back and there is a file out there that you can flash in twrp that should square you back to factory. I believe @micmars has helped with this issue before. Perhaps he remembers the thread in which he found it the first time? I will search and try to post you a link.

Hello,
so to start it off, I have a SM-925F Galaxy S6 Edge, and have a corrupt EFS.img on it, I do have the original aswell, but since the phone won't boot up and only gets to recovery or installation, how should I go about fixing it?
Thank you.
Boot into download mode and install the stock firmware via odin. There are several tutorials here on how to do so.
Sent from my SM-G925P using Tapatalk

If that doesn't work look up the last resort option where you use a partition table file to repartition and reinstall the firmware. That one is extremely risky.

Thank you but that does not fix the problem. Have tried several times, still E:failed to mount /efs
Then sounds as if the partition table is your only resort. It completely wipes all partitions and recreates them allowing for the installation afterwards but has to be done with the firmware or else total brick

Can I not flash my recovery.img with odin? What confuses me about this is that I need to get a .tar file, which I have no idea what is or how to get.
Anyone got any ideas except the re-partition? I don't know the PDA so hard to find an official firmware for it, with the pit files and everything
So I used smartswitch emergency recover and now the phone boots up to optimising or something apps, gets to like 11 and sometimes 13 out of 26 and keeps restarting
Holy ****, its working after smartswitch reset
But now I have an imei like 000000000000000000356 or something.
