Hello. As the title says i have a very strange problem with my galaxy s3 internal memory. The phone has 16 GB of memory ,11.2 GB usable. Ok, so far so good. When i plug in the phone and i look into the GT-I9300 folder that appears on my computer it says that in "Phone" (aka the internal memory) there are only 2.93 GB of free space. (11,2 GB totally, 2.93 free space, 8.31 GB used space) When i enter the folder "Phone" and i select all the folders -> right click -> Proprieties there are only 1.3 GB of folders (meaning occupied memory). So i ask , where is the rest of my memory? 7GB unreadable?
Sorry for posting in the wrong section.. a moderator please move my topic into the Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting section.

Hello guys,
I've got a question...
When I connect the Tab to the PC, all the folders are about 4 GB,
and the Free Space is about 5GB.... so... 9 GB in total
Where are rest of the 16GB of storage?
wrong forum

and mostly because it may have 16gb, but then its partitioned into space to install apps, and then the android system, and then finally memory, it actually sounds about right
hi guys,
So i got the 16 GB Note. However, i dont understand where all the apps are being saved.
when i go into storage it shows usb storage total 10.84 GB and available 9.51
and then system storage now shows 1.37 GB
what is system storage? and why is USB storage only showing 10.84gb
when i go into the applications > manage applications - it lists all the apps and below it shows system storage 588mb used and 1.4GB free
someone can correct me but I believe apps are probably being loaded into system storage via default and the related application data such as music/photos/etc on the usb storage.
The NOTE is sold as having 16GB internal memory which is made up of 2GB system memory (some call it phone memory) and USB Storage (/sdcard) of about 11GB. What is using the other 3GB left of the 16GB??? Don't really know but probably data w/the preloaded apps?
how can i check if thats the case?
or how can i change that?
the system storage is very limited.
I see system apps in system/data/apps......now in sd card there is a extension with the da_g kernel I noticed...where when pluged in...all recovery backups go to into a folder named clockwork...and I see a download folder where my new downloads are going...so I have 2 folders now of clockwork and dcim and download.....but the sd is through a folder named external sd ...its almost like its backwards.....messed up I know....

actually the system storage of 2GB is more than enough as it is just used to store the applications themselves.
Good morning,
I'm trying to install the game ducati challenge (which was already installed in the phone) and always gives me the following error: "Could not install Ducati Challenge. Free up some space and try again."
Currently I have the following memory on Xperia:
754 MB of internal memory which have 321 MB available
2.01 GB of internal storage which have 1.05 gb available
Micro SD Card 16 GB of which have 6.51 gb available (where it is entering the dates of the games)
I have the game pending the notification bar.
I routed the phone. What I do to free up space?
I do not have enough space for the game? Have had it installed once.
Can you help me?
Kind regards,
Jorge Moreira
What Xperia are you using?
Because i never had any problem like that in my xperia S (maybe because of the 32GB internal )
I think you have to move data from your internal to your sd card.

You're luckier
I have the Xperia Miro.
It has 2 GB available to the user. However bought a 16 gb card class 10.
I changed the file and vold.fstab phone is considered as the 16 GB internal memory.
The date of the games are on the external card.
Hence I do not see why the lack of space.
Kind regards,
Jorge Moreira
I have a problem pertaining to the storage space of my phone. I have an HTC One 32gb and I currently have about 5 gb of free space left. When I go into root explorer and check the space of my external sd card. It's only used up about about 15 gb. So my question is where is the rest of the space. I know the system takes up about 4-5 gb or something like that, but it shouldn't take up 17 gb! Also, there's a folder named "data" in my root storage, not the sd card folder, that takes up around 18 gb but I'm not sure what the files are inside. How do I free up more space on my phone? Any help or explanation would be appreciated.
Thanks!

OK, here's the annoying thing; I have an T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II ( SGH-T989) running Android 4.1.2.
I have 2 GB main memory (but only 223MB free) , 9GB "USB memory" and a 32 GB SD card.
I can no longer install any apps as the device tells me it's run out of space.
I've moved all apps that I can to the SD card already.
Is there a way to make the default partition larger than 2GB?
Or is there a different solution to the problem?
