Hey guys I don't know if anyone can help me but here's the situation.
I recently unrooted and flashed stock on my GS3. After the procedure was done I noticed I was getting no signal and couldn't send texts nor use mobile data. I researched and read about flashing the XXEMG4 modem to get my network working again. I did so and it's all working fine on the stock rom currently. However I prefer Cyanogenmod to Touchwiz and was wondering if I flash cyanogenmod will it install a custom modem again and stop my network from working? If so can I just flash the XXEMG4 to make it work with cyanogenmod?
I'm using an i9300 with stock (4.1.2)
Aosp roms dont come with a modem

you will still have your old modem.

Hello all,
I have a galaxy tab 10.1 GT-P7500 with 3G & WIFI.
I recently flashed a wifi only ROM unknowingly and lost the 3G capability.
I want that though !! Please let me know if I flash Broodcomb, will I regain 3G ability ? Or else should I switch back to stock and wait for someone to release a new working 3G + WIFI rom.
Help appreciated !!
i think right now broodcomb is the only custom rom with 3g, i'm waiting for more choice before flashing it...
Didn't you do a nandroid before flashing a new firmware??

Well I know I should have made a nandroid backup but did not :!
Now can't even revert back .. is there anywhere that I can get a flashable stock firmware for the P7500 for WIFI+3G ?
---------- Post added at 10:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:31 AM ----------
Also is broodcomb an only 3G firmware - or does it have wifi support as well ? Coz I need both otherwise no point in flashing... the broodcomb post is not clear enough !!
Broodcomb supports booth 3g and wifi. There is no rom with only 3g that i know about.
You will get your 3g back if you flash a rom that supports it.
Stock firmwares you can find at samfirmware.com or at sampro.pl or in the development section.

Try this before flashing the rom, seems to help most people
I guess this has something to do with your previous ROM. Were you using any leaked stock JB based ROM?
Oh and btw, don't worry, nothing has gone wrong with your phone. You'll be able to get it back working

Hi every body,
I have been searching about 2 weeks in these threads but i couldn't find my answers.
I have a T-mobile samsung vibrant phone and I am slightly amateur about changing my ROM.
1- Is there any differences between T-Mobile and Samsung vibrant except sim-Lock? Can I use the ROM which mentioned in sasung vibrant thread?
2- I have 2.1 stock- rooted without CWM recovery yet, can I flash 2.2 ? if yes how(I don't have high speed internet connection so I prefer to flash it on my phone)?
3- How can I use CM ROM? Is it required to have special bootloader or something els? what are the bugs of CM Roms?
4- Please help me,
Thank you thank you thank you

Ok
1. The phone IS the Samsung Galaxy S
T-mobile Vibrant SGH-T959. It comes sim locked fro tmo but it can very easily be unlocked by an app from playstore, if youd like but isnt required to flash custom roms. So yes Samsung vibrant=T-mobile vibrant.
2. The official 2.2 from Samsung is installed through kies mini but dont do it! There probably is an official odin image floating around as well but again dont worry about that. You are at the best place to begin using custom roms. All you need is to flash cwm recovery and its go time. I will link some threads for you. **You may run into some issue not having HS internet connection as there are a lot of files that need downloaded.**
3.In order to use a CM rom, you must have a custom (CWM) recovery. As far as boots, there are froyo bootloaders and gingerbread bootloaders. Most roms are fine with froyo boots, some recommend GB boots, some require GB boots and all will work with GB boots so its best to install GB boots. Any known bugs on a custom rom are usually posted in op. Some bugs in alpha and beta builds might not have been reported yet. Thus far, cm7 7.1-2=stable, cm9=stable, cm10=stable, cm10.1=beta. I havent used it myself but check the thread for bugs.
Read this thread first! It is the vibrant bible from N00B, a must read.

Here is the thread for GB boots. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14588896 You will need odin on your pc to do this.
Hopefully I have helped, if so hit that button.....thanks.

Hello all, I am new to these forums.
I am trying to boot into a custom recovery mode but my phone will only boot into standard recovery. I just went through and flashed an old kernel, and got my root with towelroot and then reflashed a newer kernel. I don't know if rooting with towel root is part of my problem or not. I have tried both the CWM Recovery app and the TWRP app, neither of which worked. When I tied to flash a custom recovery onto my phone with Odin, it failed. I am relatively new to all of this, I am learning as I go. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be much appreciated. Ultimately I would like to get lollipop on my phone. If anyone knows a work around for that, that would work also.
I forgot. I am on a galaxy s4.

what is your bootloader version?
to check, you can use apps in google play like CPU-Z or Phone Info *Samsung*
---------- Post added at 08:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:09 PM ----------
if it is anything other than I545VRUAMDK, you can not use any custom recovery. to flash ROMs, you have to use Safestrap, and you can only use ROMs that are compatible with it (mostly TouchWiz ROMs, although there's a Google Play Edition 4.4.4 ROM that works with SS here)

I just had to reroot my entire phone and know you're pain... if you're on MDK, use flashify and update the latest TWRP after you do a FULL reroot. Worked for me... I ran in circles with the TWRP and CWM app...
Stock and lagging as heck. I have always rooted and am almost done with rooting the TMO S5. I am looking for a rom that is complete and does not lag. I have always used the Stock roms on my other samsung verizon phones and felt the most comfortable with them.
Which is the Fastest lag free rom for the TMO s5 and closest to stock minus bloatware etc.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I want to support the guy that made the hispasian kernel how do i do that.?
i am on f0j4 to use your area51 rom do i need to be on og6? is flashing back as simple as using the bootloader and stock modem tar's in odin and flash back? Then can I flash the v9.6 of your rom onto my phone through odin as well using the pds button? or do i need to find a 0g6 version of the rom and flash that first?

area51 is oj4. if you want to support hispasian kernel you can flash it over the kernel used in 51. You might need to install the correct supersu but i would think it would work fine.

I got rooted I am just getting ready to flash the new rom. I used the hispasian kernel and sent him some love.
I don't need to stay with it if there is something better to run with the area 51 rom.
My question now is as follows? I already am running f0j4 do i need to flash the stock modem and bootloader? Can I just skip those steps and go straight to the odin and flash the rom?

I guess it would depend on the method that was used for getting the phone to OJ4.
If it was a full install then your bootloader is OJ4 which the area51 is based off of.
My modem and bootloader is OJ4 however others have said OG6 works as well too.
If your OG6 or OJ4 then you dont need to flash a modem or bootloader.
Also Area51 and 9.6 are flashed in custom recovery not odin.

I got to Oj4 by OTA I assume. When I bought the phone off of Craigslist it came this way.
I maybe confused in regards to V9.6 and Area 51. I though that Area 51 was the rom and it was currently in Version 9.6.
I have downloaded it from the download tab on this forum link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/tmo...t/maverick-5-1-1-improved-edition-v2-t3159387
It says it is version 1 when I download it. Area 51 v1.zip to be precise.
I was also planning on following the instructions on this page #3 forum post to flash the rom. Is this wrong? Am I going in the wrong direction?

Post 3 is not needed if you are on OJ4 already. Area51 and 9.6 are different roms. you do need to flash in twrp and install the rom from within twrp.
so step 4 and 5.
malbert16442 said:
Step 4
Close and then reopen Odin, pull the battery for 30 seconds, pop back in and boot into download mode all with your phone disconnected from your computer. Now grab the TWRP recovery image from here https://dl.twrp.me/klte/ (I use 2.8.7.0) and place into the PDA button inside odin, uncheck F Reset Time and Repartition then flash or click start.
Step 5
When step 4 completes, now you can do the 3 finger boot into TWRP recovery to flash V9.4 of this ROM.
