So on my S4 I have a weird issue on boot. Sometimes the Samsung logo will sit there for a minute, sometimes 15 seconds. The phone will always boot in the OS though. Its happened on two different Roms.
Any reason it may be doing this?

External memory card issue? You can rule it out by 'unmounting SD', removing your SD card, and re-boot.

I woulf backup any user apps you dont want deleted then do a factory reset and see if that helps.

Alternatively (or before doing this), you could try to boot in Safe Mode:
1. Switch off your phone completely.
2. Power it on again.
3. Now continuously keep pressing the left key.
4. Keep pressing the key until the boot is complete and the home screen appears.
If the device boots fine in Safe Mode then it's possible that an app you installed is configured to launch at startup but not functioning properly.
I doubt this is the case, since most apps that autostart do so after boot, but it's one final thing you can check before doing the wipe.

Hi, I was having issues w my sg2 randomly rebooting so backed up my apps the wiped it and haven't had issues since but of course that leaves me app-less. Is there a way/app that I can log and see which app is rebooting my sg2?
Cheers

Easiest and best way would be to wipe everything and re-install your apps (I mean re-download and install, NOT restoring a backup since that's likely to cause FCs and reboots)
Recently I have had the same issue my phone randomly rebooting. Have noticed it only happens when I come back from work. Never happened while I was out, the only thing I can think of is reconnecting to my home wifi.
Will need to do more test to see if that is the case thou.

An app shouldn't be able to make your phone reboot (at least, a non-root app). The most common cause of random reboots is bad OC/UV settings. If you're running at stock clocks and voltages, on stock ROM/kernel, then you almost certainly have a hardware problem and should try to get a warranty repair if you can.
Dolphin HD has always been the cause in my experience.

There may be a crafty sneeky covert app causing the problem!! did you have any ninja games installed?
Well, my phone is rooted so that is a possibility (that maybe its s root app). I will focus on those

I have an external SD and have many apps on it. I was sure that all apps could move to SD. But had a random reboot.
Took out the SD card and the reboots disappear and as as soon as I put back the memory, it reoccurs again.
First I though it was the chip pushing against the battery and causing to reboot.
But after moving the apps back from SD to Phone (and many uninstalled) and reformat it, the reboots are gone.

when my phone was rooted i found it rebooted itself when i had usb debugging turned off, when i turned it back on the reboots stopped.
Possibly Dolphin Hd, if you installed it.

Using [Rom]AOKP (4.0.4) Update 4.18.2012
I keep getting a "Rom Control stopped working" error. I wiped & factory reset, reflashed twice now and still keep getting the message.
It seemed to first occur when I had changed the boot animation option in the settings.
Anyone else seeing this error come up often too?

I restored my contacts from google, and turned off the boot animation in rom control.
That's all I did. Then I saw the error and figured to wipe everything and re-flash, upon re-flashing it just started popping up again after turning off boot animation. Not sure if I had restored my contacts before or after.

Just restore to a Stock Samsung Firmware and don't forget to reset your device. (you could backup via your computer)

When I shutdown my phone or reboot it the boot tune, the one that happens when you first turn on the phone happens, then the Verizon 4g lte tune happens, finally right after that the boot tune happens again but this time MUCH louder and it loops while the phone is on infinitely, unless I pull down my notification bar, otherwise it'll play over all other sounds, and even while the screen is off.
Anyone have a fix, I'm unrooted, I have done nothing exotic to the phone, everything is stock and typical, help, thanks.

Unfortunately, it sounds like a factory reset would be the only sure option... Something got screwy, but without a restore point, wiping might be the only way to fix it

Have the same problem, has any resolution been found ?
Edit : I have tried "Silent Boot" and "No Statup Sound" apps and they work once but the sound comes back.
^ another option all tho im sure this is not the op's problem:
-must have root
-install a root explorer app
-navigate to the system/media/audio/ui folder
-scroll down and add .bak to the end of files poweron.ogg & poweroff.ogg.

I have tried multiple file explorers and none of them work. Is there a free root explorer that will perform this task ?
My fiance can't access the play store on her P769. I forget what the error is, but she used to be able to access it. Her date and time is correct. It's rooted, but with the stock rom and kernel (I think the software version is P76920H).
Any ideas? Thanks!

Try to erase play store cache in settings. If it wouldn't help try to delete google account, and login again.

Rooted?
Go to Root Browser and navigate to System -> Etc, and find the "hosts" file. Delete it and reboot. That should fix it. You're welcome.

I haven't spent any time with her phone over the past month, but I'm working on it today. Since I first wrote, it lost it's ability to access data over the cell network, and won't connect to many wifi networks, either. I cleared data for Play Store and Play Services. I get a notification that it needs to update Play Services, but when I click on that, it goes to Play Store and says "No connection - Retry".
I want to wipe the phone and start new with a fresh ROM, but I can't remember how to reboot to Recovery. Holding volume-down while it powers up doesn't get me into Recovery. I'm not having much luck with Google on that, either.

Might have to do a factory reset and reroot it. I forgot the method on doing a factory reset. Something about holding a lot of buttons down.. check around, someone will tell you.

Just in case you haven't got it figured out yet. Power off phone. Turn back on and wait for the Lg logo to come on and when the bottom back lights start blinking hold the - volume button and it will go to recovery

Thanks! I didn't figure that out, but I managed to fix her phone (including wi-fi/data and Play Store) by re-flashing the stock ROM with the LGST tool. I remembered holding volume-down when powering up the phone from my HTC phones, but I guess you hold volume-down at a different point in the boot process with LG phones.
