gud day i have a samsung galaxy s2 with baseband i9100xxLS6 kernel version 3.0.31-462349 [email protected]#3 smp preempt tue nov 6 02:42:23 kst 2012 build number jz054k.i9100xxlsj
i want to downgrade bcos i have a problem w/ battery maybe downgrading solve it and also my problem is when i use kies the firmware that im using is not compatible with the version the im using... thanks....

Get an ICS stock rom from Samfirmware, flash it with Odin (How ? Search). Done.

Check my signature

make sure you download firmware with the right csc code for it to be compatible with kies, downgrading should give better battery life.

[Q] How to update Galaxy SII?

I have a Galaxy SII and I want to update it to ICS. I Live in New Zealand on the vodafone network.
I have tried using Kies except it doesn't support updating and I don't know why!
Please help!
doed ur coutry has ics upgrade via kies....
check *#1234# and post...
Well, you can always go down the other road and skip Kies, flashing an ICS rom from the forums, of which are a lot good available, I'm very happy with one as well.
That is, if you're happy to leave the Samsung stock rom path.
You'll find all the info in the development section for the SGSII.

kies is sh*t only use it to install usb drivers then remove from desktop use odin 1.85 to flash or mobile odin app on play store
you can update to ics simply via odin. its the easiest method. just goto intratech's thread of official ics roms and choose the one you want + the same thread also has a good tutorial on how to use odin.

Hi,
I also have this strange kernel Is this still the newest for this kernel? And which of the two do I need?
XWLSD or XWLS8?
Can anyone explain why the kernel version on this S2 is written differently than most? Its pretty hard to figure out which files to use.
Thank you in advance.

Siyah kernel v6 beta 5 is a custom kernel for JB, be it XWLSD or XWLS8.
If you want flash a rooted kernel that matches ur stock kernel, look for Philz kernels.

Scroll down the Philz thread and look for latest XWLSD kernel.
Download it and flash.

Yup, that's it!
Zip file is for flashing via stock recovery (but u need external SD card). It has the advantage that you don't need to use a PC and doesn't void ur warranty.
Tar file is for flashing via Odin.

Rooting will not affect ur apps or their data.
Flashing the wrong kernel of a different device can brick ur phone. Flashing the wrong kernel of a different android version will cause bootloops.

I understand that this is an old post but I just got ahold of a S2 with the same build/kernel etc...
I see two set of one zip file and one tar file in your link. Noted the XXLSD and XXLS8.
If I use the stock recovery method do I need both of the 2 zip files? Or just the one? I'm confused because my baseband ends with XXLS8 but my buildnumber ends with XWLSD...
Hope I'm not asking a stuipid question here

1- Is my phone the International version one?
2- The LPG (in bold) is what matters to the CFRoot, or what does matter?
3- The "CF-Root-SGS2_XX_XEO_LPQ-v5.3-CWM5.zip" doesn't fit my phone because of the sgs2 and LPQ?
4- Can you find me a suitable CFRoot?
5- If I put the Siyah insted, what shoul be the version?
6- Do I need to use ODIN with Siyah?
Please answer all of my questions
Sorry if my English isn't the best, im not a native speaker.
Yes, international version it is.
Try ExynosAbuse app from chainfire for rooting.
If you perform any wipes, you might brick you phone because of the brickbug. You can check your chip with Got Brickbug app from playstore.
If you wanna flash siyah, yes, get the tar version and flash with odin.

I shall answer what remains...
2. Yes, that is what matters.
3. It doesn't fit ur phone because of LPQ. You should be looking for something like "CF-Root-SGS2_BU_***_LPG-*.zip". SGS2 is short for the I9100.
4. You're kidding right?
5. Siyah kernels are based on ur android version. For 4.0.4, you should go for v5.0.1.
Also read about eMMC Brickbug issue on 4.0.4.
Personally, I say u forget about CF kernels, because on 4.0.4 they have a high risk of the brickbug. Either flash siyah or go for exynosabuse.

[Q] Recently bought S2 and need help

Hi Everybody,
I've recently got an S2 and would like some guidance on updating my phone as it is currently on Gingerbread and I would like to update it to Jelly bean.
My Phone details are:
Model Number: GT-I9100
Android Version: 2.3.5
Baseband Version: I9100XXKI3
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9100ZSKI3-CL603802
[email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.ZSKI3
Or using the *#1234# method:
PDA : I9100ZSKI3
PHONE : 19100XXKI3
CSC : I9100ZSKI3
BUILD INFO : Fri Sep 23 19:48:32 KST 2011
My dad purchased this phone from China and has since returned to Canada and has given me his phone. The phone is rooted and has superuser and a XDA app in chinese.
I just want to know what would be the best way to update this phone to jelly bean (would this cause me to lose the root)?
As well as the fact that while this phone is unlocked, would updating it lock it again?
Thanks for your time.

Please check under ur battery just to confirm that u have an I9100.
The best way to update is to flash Jellybean firmware using Odin/Mobile odin.
Flashing a stock firmware will unroot ur phone. Root can be preserved either by:
- flashing a prerooted firmware
- flashing via Mobile odin with Ever root option
Alternatively, u can easily root after flashing also.
As for locking, if ur phone is an international unlocked model and u flash a carrier free firmware, it wont get locked. Flashing a carrier branded firmware or a previously locked phone can lock ur phone.
But its very easy to unlock even if it gets locked.
