I've heard this came out a couple months ago, but my phone as yet to update on its own. When I try and check for an update, it says there are no updates to be found. And when I check my phone, my current software is 3.14.605.12. Anybody know how I can upgrade to the latest? Ever since I upgraded to ICS, my phone has been nothing but trouble for me, and I'm hoping if I upgrade to the latest that some of these problems might go away. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Here is the link to the global update: http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/0...ull-ruu-build-4-03-605-2-for-the-htc-rezound/ Lucky for you, since you haven't unlocked you bootloader or done anything otherwise, you can flash this in your bootloader and get the update with no problem.
Two notes on flashing that...first it's unofficial, so flashing it might risk your ability to get OTA's in the future. Second, it will wipe your data, apps, and internal storage. However, with those two caveats, it will work just fine.
I appreciate the input guys. However, both of you state I need to "flash" to do this - which looks to me (as stated above) it's an unofficial method of getting this update. I'm curious, is there a way I can do this a legit way? How come my phone did not take the update, while others did? How can I force my phone to update? I'd like to keep my phone as stock as possible and not do any modding to it.
If I really have no other options, then I guess flashing is my best bet. And considering the last phone I had that I took any time to mod was the first-gen iPhone, I have no clue what any of this lingo means - but I guess that's what Google is for. However if any of you have a quick link in mind you could post that might help me or at least point me in the right direction, it'd be appreciated. I looked at the link posted above to the actual ROM file and it has some simple install instructions, however I'm not sure if that's all I need to do considering I'm still fully stock. Thanks again guys for all your help.

your phone is up to date! like they said above and the global is unofficial, therefore putting the global ruu on your phone would be the latest!

Run the 4.03.605.2 RUU. Let it boot 1 time, then wipe and install shrike's CounterShrike CM9 ROM. It's seriously a great ROM and super smooth in comparison to stock. Basically, what this phone should have been from day 1.

My apologies, but I don't quite understand. You're saying my phone is up to date with the 3.14.x.x software, and the 4.03.x.x that I'm looking for is actually some "custom" ROM and unofficial?

So this 4.03.x.x is just not out yet? I've been seeing news articles of them reporting on it as far back as August. Has it just not rolled out to every phone yet? If not, then I will continue to wait. I just thought my phone was messed up and wouldn't take the update.

But waiting on Verizon to Roll out the Update will take a loooonng time. but Sites have the Latest (Unofficial)Build. Unofficial is kind of like Alpha, and Beta. Unofficial is inbetween Alpha n Beta.
It basically gives u global function so if your not going to other countries don't even worry about it. I promise if u take the time to figure everything out and flash it you won't be able to tell a difference. Just skip it

A few people got 4.03.605.1 a week or two after the 3.14.605.12 OTA, but they never mass rolled it out. I know of one person on XDA who got it as an OTA. 4.03.605.2 surfaced a few days later on Android Police, but I haven't heard of anyone getting it as an OTA, and there hasn't been a peep out of Verizon on it.

Awesome, just what I needed to know. I will just be patient then. Thanks!
Yep, basically the only reason why the global update ever made it to light is because the manufacturers like HTC like to "splash test" on a few customers, let them report back bugs and what not, at this point if there aren't any bugs or the bugs that are present are workable, they will release the update in mass to the rest of the public.
Basically, a splash tester knew what they were doing, whipped together that nice little "flashable" ruu package and released it for the rest of us to hack up for our own uses. Usually, we look forward to these little splash test releases because they do contain newer bug fixes, but they also contain new kernels, libs and other useful things we need to continue making roms like aosp or sense 4 work better
I'd say if you want it, go ahead and flash it. Its just not official as they say because it did not arrive onto your phone via ota update directly from htc and verizon. Although it is an official build built by htc.
Is there any real compelling reason to install the B148 update? The camera already seems fine to me without the update. It's operating smoothly and I get great battery life. Why do it?

If there is another update that isn't a major one (KK? fingers crossed) then it might require being updated to B148 first. Just a guess. It is a stretch to think we'll get another update to this phone though but we can't rule it out now that Huawei has come through with this minor update. It might be that since they mentioned a 4.4 KK update is coming when the phone came out that this update we just got would be a test run for the whole process. That's thinking optimistically. Realistically, I have no idea but would be happy if we continued to get updates (any at all) on our HAM2's.
Low light photography . Usually when you take a pic in low light it tends to darken the background too much . This update helps in that department . Plus , these updates provide an overall better stability to the system , the "misc. fixes" (No detailed description) they put at the end of the description should not be overlooked . They test the device thoroughly at their office and made the small needed changes . Even though you might not think it's a lot . Always better to stay updated . If it wasn't necessary nor improved the experience they would not have pushed the update out at all . My two cents . Update !
Well I was going to put in my 2 cents but you two said it all. If you made it all the way to the XDA website and was able to register and post something onto form your more then capable of upgrading to the new SYSTEM UPDATE. Plenty of people went ahead of you already and another thread was created for that. Everyone is having success with the B418 update.
The camera was rubbish in low light, and now it runs much smoother. Not iPhone or Android flagship smooth, but good enough.
And again, everyone else said pretty much all there is to say!

Why upgrade from any software? What was wrong with Android 4.1? it runs everything. The manufacturer of the phone put in the money to update and push out the update for a reason. Not spyware. My phone has the update and i just hit the 48 hour mark and I still have 18%
Is B148 really an "upgrade"? Have any impactful improvements been noted?
If I hadn't rooted my phone I would install the update. But considering the lengthy process due to my root, I'm going to wait for the KitKat update.

Update
I know I can't prove it but I just want it to be posted that before when I was on System Software B126 MightyText did not work when the screen was off. Even when I had it on protected apps and wifi on when the screen is off while charging. I had to keep my screen awake while I was using the app. Now after the update B148 I no longer have to do that. I was also having some problems with dropbox syncing when my phone is off and that is also fixed. So the "other fixes" in the system update. The stuff that they didn't mention is the reason why you should update. Actually since I have had the update my phone has been running very smooth. Everything just works when you click it.. Weirddd....

It's expected. Verizon is the Apple of android now. Locking and blocking so they can find ways to make even more $ from subscribers. Its shameful, but it's business. They have maybe the best service and until people start dropping them they can pretty much do what they want.
Just hang in there and hope that someone finds a way to downgrade so you can get root and twrp back. I believe @autoprime is looking into it in another thread. That's a good thing. :good: Be mad at Verizon still, but be patient too.

He means v10b and v10c, of course, and many people are reporting the same issue. It may still be possible to revert to v10b from the OTA'd v10c, which would solve our problems with this OTA, but anyone who has not flashed v10c OTA yet should avoid it best as possible until there is better clear information about reverting.
Remember when Google first updated the Chromecast firmware and that patched the only known exploit for it ? It took a while to get around that. I think the Chromcast Devs eventually did, though...I quit following and just stayed stock.
How about instead of being furious with Verizon, you point the blame at yourself. You're the one who was stupid enough to take an OTA, despite common knowledge being that OTAs will patch exploits and have been known to prevent rolling back to older versions.
Not to pile on, but I am really surprised by the number of folks that have eagerly taken the OTA. As with just about any SW update, it's usually best to let someone else be the guinea pig. Not to say I'm not sympathetic. Still, at least your not on a Samsung. I spent the last year on my GS3 stuck in the past usually running TW 4.1.2, but at least I was free!
I had an issue, took the ota, and couldnt fix through TWRP. Flashed back to 10B stock, then took the ota, and now Stump wont work. I would imagine that if you used to .tot, and LG fladh tool, and go back to 10B, that all will be right with the world again.... At least, thats how Samsungs are, now that Stump wont work with 11C. I took it simply for the improvements, already had a camera shortcut on the lock screen

You cannot go revert back with a Samsung anymore. With release of knox on the S4 the first update after the MDK bootloader locked anyone out of reverting back. I'm fairly sure every Samsung bootloader after that on other devices worked the same way.

It looks like you cannot revert to v10b via .tot, either. Still might be a way, but things seem rather bleak about that.
What is bad for us all is that developers, already annoyed at Verizon and LG both, for good reasons, are likely see there very few Verizon LG G3 users that are ever going to be able to benefit from their work left. So, they will give hacking the Verizon G3 up as not worthwhile, maybe, and we will be stuck with a stock-only device. Its a problem to consider.
Sent from my VS985 4G using Tapatalk
GS3 got Knox at 4.4 and couldn't be rolled back as I recall (might even have been when 4.3 released). As bad as that was for the unfortunate folks that took the OTA or had to do a warranty exchange, the worst part was that it fractured the development into two camps, and that seemed to expedite the winding down of dev support for that device. I really hope that isn't what happens to the G3.
FYI- I just saw this post from @autoprime basically suggesting evidence of anti-rollback code in the new BL. Not a shocker, as VZW has been employing that for a while now - at least on Moto and Samsung devices. Sigh...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56437577
Yep... First they locked down the S4...and a short time later the S3 got the Knox bootloader essentially locking everyone who updated into using TW. Safestrap helped many but AOSP was no longer an option for them. It really sucked for development on my S4 as you need to know if a room was for mdk or for Safestrap.
I'd hate to see that happen here to the G3...BUT i will not give up a custom recovery just to get the latest update.... Even if the development community never is able to get a working updated rom.

I was pretty tempted to take the update. But coming from experience with Motorola, I knew better. I checked the forums first before taking it.
Not to lecture, but any time you root it's best to use the free app Uninstall Expert and freeze any potential updates. It saves a lot of heartache.
Surely this will get patched it's just going to take some time...

I just wanted to find out if everyone is going to do the Lollipop update when it finally does become available for Verizon or not. Or will you just keep what version you have or stay rooted? Nope. I have my phone setup perfectly. I'm on 10B, haven't even updated to 12B/C/D or whatever. I would update to deodexed 12B if there was good enough reason, but I definitely wouldn't jump to lollypop. I won't use lollypop until my next phone (G4 once it gains root).

Shouldn't be a problem if you've frozen or removed the updater like a good boy should ?
Coming from the Moto X 2014, I enjoyed 3 months of Lollipop unrooted. On a Verizon phone at that, go figure. I'm hoping to take 5.0 or whatever version is served up to us asap...
Battery life seems to have taken a bit of a plunge in LP according to this
http://blog.gsmarena.com/benchmarking-android-5-0-lollipop-battery-life-samsung-galaxy-s5-lg-g3/
What is the updater file name? I run a custom Rom but want to make sure it isn't enabled. I searched the system files for anything with OTA in it and didn't see it. But I have had to TOT back to 10B twice since I bumped the phone and don't want to be vulnerable if I should ever have to do it again. Thanks.

On VZW you should freeze the following, not sure on a custom rom
com.lge.lgfota.permission
System Updates
It depends on whether or not LP fixes the audio hiss issue. My phone is my portable mp3 player, and although I love having root, it's gotta be a good phone and good music player first. So frustrating hearing hiss while listening to music... I'd lose root in a heartbeat if they fixed this.
Lollipop is super sweet... Kinda hard not to want it on my g3 after using on my Nexus 7 2013. I mean basically with me running a ROM I have a Nexus 6 with removable battery and expandable memory lol...
I am a little disappointed in Stock lollipop on the other carriers. I do like the new notifications, task mgr, users, etc but I just like the status bar toggles as they are in Stock lollipop...
Luckily xposed is now slowly creeping into lollipop so I'd say in a month life will be sweet!
Although, real talk, if the g4 comes out with 4gbs of ram (yes I know it's not needed but I want it for future proofing) I'd probably sell my g3. But honestly lol I really do love my g3, g watch, etc and am very content hanging on!
some people still use Polaroid instant cameras.
I will update at the first second available.
Depends on if I can keep root across the OTA. I've been able to keep it from 10b to 12b, we'll see what the reports are out there. If I can keep it, and if I can downgrade back to 10b if needs be, then I'll probably try it out.
LP on my Nexus 7 (2012) has been hit or miss. After it's been up and running for awhile, my Nexus 7 will just freeze and I'll have to reboot. I don't have that issue with KK, especially on my G3. The G3 currently runs smooth and I rarely reboot it, ever. And it runs just fine.
So, I'll have to wait and see how things go with LP on this device. As it is, there is a memory leak in the latest version and no word yet from Google on if/when that gets fixed.
Just had a notice on my phone for a 45.5 Mb OTA update.
It is the MDA89D to MDB08K update, will see if I can get links from logcat etc.

I've not noticed any changes since updating - other than a newer kernel build (8/10). The camera app still seems quite buggy - that's the only issue I've experienced so far so can't really comment on anything else.

Same issue here. I'm wondering if they pulled the update.
I got mine last night, took a while

The update should come from Google.
I would pull the update. But huawei seems to not want to ship my order still.
Sent from my Nexus 7
