Hey guys, I know you all are super anal about searching for problems first before posting but I've yet to find a thread that actually fixes this specific problem. It's a little different than the other threads I've seen. Basically my phone can connect to my interwebs and I can browse webpages on dolphin browser but I can't connect to the play store. I've tried going to the play store on my desktop and trying to download apps to my phone that way but they never start downloading on my phone. I've tried resetting my router, multiple times yet it only worked once and hasn't worked any other trys after that. I've also tried dialing multiple " *# " numbers, some don't even connect and *#0011#* gave me an error about my connectiong and an invalid MMI. My router is secured through a WPA-key. Another thing that just recently started up was that snapchat would give me an error when I open it saying it has stopped working. Unrelated perhaps but maybe not.
I've been able to connect to other routers at other houses and my school, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. I've noticed that when the wifi signal icon turns blue then everything will work. When it's grey, it's a complete toss up on whether it'll work or not.
I'm running Cyanogen Mod 10.2-20130925
I can't post pics because i'm too new... only created this to get a solution
If it's t-mobile USA, you're in the wrong forum. This is the i9300 forum. Which model do you have?

Having intermittent problems with my mobile internet and was wondering if it was the phone, other users or just plain crap signal.
Have anything between 2 to 5 bars here, hsdpa symbol on constantly but for some reason it occasionally gets stuck on the upload arrow and then the data connection freezes and wont come back on til I toggle mobile network or airplane mode.
Phone is running modaco 2.2c and latest radio on T-Mobile UK.
Hi. Been lurking around since I got my Hero, and thought it was about time I signed up to this excellent forum.
I was having exactly the same problem. Didn't know whether it was a problem with the Hero or the network/signal. I noticed that the APN settings on my Hero were different to the t-mobile site. I read around a bit and tried a few combinations of settings and eventually got it sussed.
Go to t-mobile.co.uk
Hover over "Help & Support" at the top and click "Phone Support". Click "Make the most of your mobile" and choose the G2.
Click on "Set up the phone for internet surfing" and enter the details shown there exactly in a new APN on your Hero.
The only change to those details is the password should be "pass".
This is the only APN setting i have tried that doesn't give me the original problem. Now I can browse without the 3g signal getting "stuck"
I'm using an unlocked Hero - completely stock btw.
Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.
I've been having this very problem. That's good information, I'll give it a try.
Seems to work well. Here's the link.
thanks for pointing me there.
k i altered my settings, will test it thru day see if it improves.
Ooh, seems to be working so far. Seems I owe you a beer. Lol.
After a day or two using this 'fix' I find it the drop still happens sometimes but not as often.

Did you change the password to "pass" ? That is the most important bit.
Changed the password lets see what happens.

No. That's not the password given on the T-Mobile site.
I've had the same problem with a different device, and never found an answer.
In fact, I trade that phone (Evo 3D) for this S2 (i777).
Heres the thing, for some reason my phone refuses to work on the school's wifi. Its annoying. On my last phone, I thought that it was just that phone, but apparently its not. Now I'm having the same problem on my S2. I can get notifications every now and then but cant use the wifi at all. Sometimes, randomly throughout the day, I can get about 1 - 5 minutes out of it, but then it just stops working again.
I kinda think it has something to do with my Gmail being synced or something, I really have no clue. It has the word "freaking" in it. I just dont think its a coincidence that BOTH phones in a row have the exact same problem. I didnt have the problem with any iPhone I've ever had.
I really need wifi, and I dont wanna get a new phone, so I would appreciate it a lot if some knew what this is about.
It connects and everything. Says it has great signal. Just doesnt work.
Im running the stable CM9.1, straight from the Cyanogenmod website. So its their kernel and all that good stuff. Android 4.0.4.
I know the ROM isnt the problem cause every ROM I flashed on my Evo didnt help at all.
Anyway, any help or tips anyone can give would be great. Thanks!
By the way, the wifi works perfectly fine every where else. Home, College, friend's house. etc.
You need to verify your school does not require special network settings or a proxy.
If you can see the network and connect then its just a settings issue. Have you tried reverting to stock?

I can connect just fine, as normal. It just doesn't allow me internet access.
By stock, do you mean the stock ICS Touchwiz? No. But I guess its worth a try. The only reason I didnt see that as a solution is because on my last phone, I had the same problem whether I was running stock or not.
It sounds like you need a proxy address to access the Internet at your school. Talk to the administrators of the network.

They have proxies restricted from what I know. I dont know too much about proxies, but I tried using a few different proxy apps and none of them worked.
And it doesnt do this to other peoples' phones. Why is it just mine? My other phone was an HTC on Sprint. It just seems like a weird coincidence that both phones have the same problem, and they're two completely different devices. That's why I thought it had to do with Gmail, I know that sounds stupid, but its the only thing the two phones have in common.

At the University I attend it connects but when I try to access Internet it asks me to login my student account. So just because it "connects" doesn't necessarily mean it's connected there may be an extra step after

Our school used to be the same, we logged in through the web browser, but they got rid of that. Now we just connect and that's it.

Two different phones and same issue. Friends phones work but yours doesn't. You have a PICNIC issue.
Problem in chair not in computer (phone). Talk to the network admin or help desk. You're probably using a wrong setting or password. The admin should be able to help you by looking at the logs.

I get what you're saying, believe me, but I just dont see how its a wrong setting. Its default settings ( until I tinkered around trying to fix it). I assume all of my less-knowledgeable friend's phones are default settings too. So it just doesn't seem to make sense that the default settings on two of my phones are the wrong settings, while every other phone seems to have it right to begin with.
I get what your saying, but I cant just talk to our Tech Guy at our school. It just doesnt work like that at my school. Lol. Thats why I'm asking for help on here.
And I dont think the multiple ROMs I've tried have the wrong defaults also.
Then sit down with a friend and make sure EVERY setting Is the same. Make sure you are both running android and using the same browser. If they are on CM too that would be best.
It sounds like something is blocking you from accessing the Internet while on the schools network. I don't think we will be of much help.

I can try the thing with my friend. Im just really the only one in my group of friends that's into, and actually knows a lot about Android devices. So they dont seem like much help. Haha.
And I was hoping people could tell me some ideas I havent tried yet. I know Android, but I dont know much about wireless networks and all that.
I'd love to help more, but since only one wifi network doesn't work for you it has to be something with that network.

Do you need to log in to your school's network? If so, when you enter your login id, if there's a line for anonymous id too, add your login id there as well. In other words, you have to enter your login id twice. Once where it says "login id" and again for "anonymous id."
If that doesn't work, what would help here is more info about how you connect (WPS, WPA, etc.).

It doesn't require me to log in at all. It worked perfectly fine on my old iPhone without having to log in. And it never redirected me in the browser. I've tried everything I can think of.
Proxies (Dont work)
I've tried static IP.
Factory resetting to stock Android (Every time I restart my phone it works for like a minute.)
BUT, I think I came across something. I compared my settings to a friend's, and his phone showed a different IP address. I'm still not sure if it was the IP to his phone, or to the school. How do I find out which IP is which?
Can anyone explain why it works for a minute or two and then stops?
Have you tried going to: Settings->wifi->advanced (you get to advanced by clicking the menu button) to make sure that:
Keep wifi on during sleep: ALWAYS
Avoid poor connections: UNCHECKED
Frequency band: AUTO
Wifi Region: United States
You may want to uncheck wifi optimization.
Oh, one other thing: you aren't using any battery optimization apps are you? JuiceDefender etc? If so, follow their instructions for uninstalling and uninstall!
Beyond that, I haven't got a clue. And no, your IP address has nothing to do with it. It should be different from your friend's.

I have a problem and I cant find a thread that's experiencing my unique concern.
Sansung Galaxy S2 LTE Rogers (Canadian Phone)
I was running Ginger Bread for the longest time and not willing to update to Jellybean for the fear of my phone failing...Guess what? It happened!
Here's the wierd part. I updated correctly and the phone was working perfectly with the Jellybean interface however when I turned my phone off and turned it back on, the phone was stuck at the bootable "S" Symbol. Wont connect to kies anymore. So what I have done is downloaded the Firmware (I ensured it was the Rogers version, not the skyrocket version). I reflashed the firmware and the phone boots now however it gets to the "welcome to SGH-I727R" Screen, "touch the android to begin". When I press the andriod symbol, I get a error message "Google Services framework has stoped unexpectedly, please try again. Everytime I push the Android, it does it again. I'm stumped on what to do next. Is this what they call a "hard brick" I'm tech savy and understand what your talking about however I don't know how to correct this issue.
Any help would be much appericated!
UPDATE: I can now access to my status bar. I can select Bluetooth, Wi-Fi.. When I select Bluetooh, it pulls up the menu to allow me to select a different user or even add another device. I'm puzzled.

C'mon folks. Lets all try and remember to search and know what forum we're in before posting issues. Helps the community out as a whole.
OK not sure where to put this thread but I have been experiencing Play Store download problems for a while (few weeks).
I have a thread on this, now after all the wipes trying different custom rom's.
I've wiped data, cache, stopped Google Play Services, Google Play Store, and somewhere I read to wipe data, cache, and force stop Google Services Framework as well.
Now it did nothing to address my errors (927, 923, and so on).
So I've run the course of searching and trying.
A few days ago I started to realize that towards the bottom of my screens I would see "Connected to wifi (my network SID)" without me moving from my seat.
I have noticed this for a few weeks but finally realized that is was every minute - 30 seconds.
SInce I just had my telecom company down to change my circuit from a standard DSL to a bonded DSL (2 pair bonded 1 download, 1 upload).
I am starting to wonder if for some unknown reason my device cant lock onto my network.
Now I want to say that the only problem I am having this type of problem with is just this S4.
My iMAC, Macbook Pro, Win8 PC, iPAD, iPhone (wife's) don't seem to have any issue so Im not sure if the S4 wifi radio has an issue or if there is something about a bonded pair???
When I get a the download errors I turn off wifi and download via carrier data and it downloads.
Now I want to clarify that at times I am able to download via wifi but it seems like a timing thing if I hit it right it works if not then I cant.
Any ideas???
Thanks

This definitely sounds like a network issue. The obvious thing to do is connect to different network to see if the problem persists. If so then at the very least you know it's an issue with the handset and not your new bonded pair.
If its the device and since I rooted it can I unroot and restore?
If so how, what process, where do I get the process?
There are so many restore and from what I read the bootloader can never go back to stock.
And there is no full out of box, back to stock option, haveI misunderstood this?
Thanks
Have you looked in the Q&A section (where this thread should probably be)?
There was at least one thread there a while back talking about WiFi issues. For one, DLink as already issues a firmware update for some routers to address the problem.

Thanks you for your reply.
I did notice the DLink posting, but my device is a ZyXEL bonded 4 port gateway, that takes 2 DSL input circuits.
I have no possible way to replace the modem / router since it was installed by the ISP for this special bonded pair.
This is not the norm in respect to installing a bonded pair, but because of my distance from the office they used this to pump up my bandwidth.
Thanks

Well since I posted I have tried a app called wifi fixer.
I noticed that it constantly (once a minute) it flips form Passed to Completed.
Not sure why what or what to do to address my problem but I think this is why Im having issues with the Play Store.
Anyone know what I can do try anything?
Thanks
I am the proud owner of a TF201 that has been sitting unused for over a year because the internet stopped working after working fine for years. My WiFi shows connected with 4 bars but the wifi icon stays grey, not blue. I have put many hours into trying to get this thing to work. I have gone through all the posts on all the forums regarding various reasons and solutions for the grey wifi icon. I have made all the suggested changes to my home wifi to no avail. I have the same problem when connecting to my phone hotspot or any other access point. I don't think it's the hardware and I don't think the problem is with the wifi source. It has to be software on the TF201. So I tried all the fixes for the Android configuration and nothing worked. So finally, in desperation, I did a Factory data reset. I also went into recovery and did a data wipe. So then I boot to a new Android 4.1.1 and enter setup. I can select and connect to wifi but the google login fails because, again, no Internet. So I skip the google login and I am left with naked Android with no Internet. Then I decided maybe I could fix it by flashing a new ROM. But before I can do that I need a custom recovery. But before I can install that I need to unlock and root my TF201. So I finally get the Asus unlock tool installed and run it. Only one small problem, it won't work unless it can verify my google account across the Internet which, of course, is broken. So at this point I'm at a loss. Unless you guys can help me I guess I could sell if for parts on Ebay. I would really appreciate it if anyone has any ideas.
You say you have tried everything without actually saying what you have tried but when I have encountered this in the past the date and time has been wrong. I know it sounds stupid but did you check this ?

Rather than stupid, it would have been brilliant if it only worked. I did try that already but thanks for the suggestion.
I didn't go into too much detail on what I've tried because, ultimately, I was wasting my time. The tablet is getting wifi. It is connected to wifi with 5 bars. The only problem is that they are grey not blue. I've read that blue means full two-way connection with google services and grey means no or partial communication with google. So I can go to the tablet now and select Settings, +Add account, Google, enter an account. It will say "this will take a moment" and then instantly comes back with "Couldn't sign in, Can't establish a reliable connection to the server." If I tell it to create a new Google account it asks for a "name"@gmail.com but rejects every name as "not available" no matter how random/long it is.
Nothing else appears to be wrong with this tablet. Its bone stock, date/time is set, wifi is connected.
Thanks to anyone that can help.

It's mad because what you are describing is the exact same errors that I had when the year was set wrong on my tablet. I also couldn't use browsers or anything because all the certificates were out of date.
I just had a quick google for your errors and the answers it brought up also said the date.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0AJSFcWbJOk
I did find another thread as well which mentions editing the hosts file so it might be worth you taking a look here and see if there is anything you haven't tried yet.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2083702
I've found that people are fixing the Google sign-in problem by editing the hosts file and commenting out the address for google's servers. However, you need to be rooted to do this. So does anyone know how to root a TF201 without the ASUS unlock tool? If that's the only way then I have a chicken-and-egg problem with no solution.
Can you ping the tablet from another computer/phone in your house?
Have you tried putting in a static IP and DNS instead of DHCP?
