hello....if anybody watching this, then please help me upgrading my streak to GB 2.3.3
Actually I am having STOCK FROYO 2.2.2 (rom 355) installed.
how should I upgrade it?
as I have read it on many forums that I have to flash recovery 350, do I really need to because I am already on 355?
and please provide a solution so I don't get any blinking lights bug after upgrading :silly:
HELP PLEASE
Search for threads titled "Everything you always wanted to know about the Streak but were too busy bricking it" and start reading the information at the links that turn up.
If you want to upgrade to Gingerbread, install one of the custom ROMs such as mine rather than go with the 407 ROM. The two DSC ROMs available have had many improvements made that won't be found in the 407 ROM. You will also need to root the Streak and install a custom recovery to do so.

i have read it.......n what I want is to just install a clean stock rom. I really don't want to root my phone or to install a custom rom..........that why I posted this.....if any 1 like you could help to install 407 pkg with no blinking issue and a clear guidence.
Help if you can....
Using baseband 355 retail rom.....
I do understand not wanting a rooted device, as not everyone needs the level of control and customization that is possible with a rooted device. However, there are simply too many issues with the stock ROM to in good conscience recommend using it. As noted, the two DSC ROMs available here fix a lot of issues that are still present in the stock ROM. One notable thing about the DSC ROMs is the Phoenix kernel they include does not perform the baseband check, thus you will never encounter blinking LEDs.
If however you insist upon installing the stock ROM anyway, you'll need to download the 407 baseband files, 407 recovery, and 407 ROM package. You'll have to use ADB to push the baseband files and recovery to the Streak. From there, you copy the ROM to the MicroSD card, boot into the recovery, and install the ROM package. Detailed instructions are readily available in the various flashing guides in the forums. The one thing you'll need to look for is the dev-host links, as that is where you will find the ROMs.
Yes yes.....i have the rom as well the recovery but not the baseband.
Thanks alot
I will check if I can find the baseband files.
By the way Do I need to root to push the baseband through ADB?

I'm new to this rom stuff guys i read around and still can't seem to find the answer...
since the Vibrant stock fw is 2.1-Update 1
DO i have to download a rom that's 2.1?
or can i just go to 2.2.1 or 2.2?
so your on 2.1update-1 thing?
and want to get a 2.2 or 2.2.1?
Just root your phone, get rom manager, flash clockwork recovery, then flash roms. there's guides on this, their stickied.
Find em' im on phone
what I'm trying to say is do i need to be on firmware 2.2 to run roms 2.2 etc.
No. Root/rom manager/clockwork/pick your rom/flash per devs instructions. Literally that simple and almost as fast as you reading this.
The rom will wipe and flash over any existing firmware you have no matter what.
Oh ok thanks <3!
Hello
This is my first attempt at flashing a custom ROM on my phone i have a bit of experience flashing custom stuff from the PSP Scene but if anyone can offer a bit of advice on this I would appreciate it. I have poked around in the forums here and have seen a few guides for flashing a custom ROM on a Telus Fascinate but all of them seem to be slightly different and a few months old so the files referred to may or may not be out of date or the links are broken.
I currently have my phone rooted with the voodoo lag fix kernal running aand would like to install CM7
Ok so after all this long windedness here are my questions
1) the first step seems to be to install a non stock kernal can i us the voodoo kernal to install CM7 (i assume i have to turn off lag fix)?
2) Guides refer to installing the full version of the ROM first and then apply the update but the only files i seem to be able to find is the "nightlys" can i use the latest nightly when flashing?
If anyone has a latest and greatest guide and a working link to any of the files need it would be greatly appreciate
Thanks

Looked at this one previously since it was really the only one that includes having the voodoo kernal to start...my only question with it is which CM7 Rom to use. Can i just use the latest nightly coming from stock 2.2 or is there a Base CM7 that you have to start with then once thats installed upgrade to the latest nightly

I found this guide too (which seems to be newer) but i can't post there to the 10post rule
Hey,
I have recently flashed and installed a custom CM7 rom to my Galaxy 5 but i am not happy with the results and i wish to go back to Stock 2.2- i stupidly didnt create a backup, so can anyone point me in the right direction on how to get back to stock, i am completely new to this kind of stuff so please try and keep it simple!
Thanks
ok, what method did you use to flash this rom?
You may have to use a different way to flash back to 2.2.
This post : http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/samsung-galaxy-5(gt-i5500)-rom-archive/ : has all the roms for our phone, so if you scroll down, after the third black line, you will see Official Roms's.
Look under that and you will see different regions 2.2 roms.
If you need any help with the flashing, just ask here
Thanks a bunch.
I flashed my rom using Odin to install Clockworkmod v4 then installed CM7 vis Clockworkmod.
Il have a read of that thread now but im pretty new to this so i may need some help
I'm working on creating a clean dump of system.img, recovery.img, and boot.img. That way whoever wishes to test it can do so. It is based the olleh update release. I'll post the finished work in the next few days. cheers
GThanks)

I've tried every method out and every other ugly hack to no avail. I do have an image of 2.2.1 with all crapware removed, rooted and tweaked up for performance if anyone is interested.
I would have released a 2.2.x rom a while ago, if it wasnt for the fact that there's no common rom unlike the streak.
I believe the venue has the 'blinking leds' issue like the streak if your rom doesnt match your baseband, hence you'd need to make like half a dozen versions for each rom.
I dont like the idea of forcing everyone to migrate to 319 just for a slimmed down rom since that's the only one with a pkg available
Starting from 325, I also flashed my device back to 319 and then upgrade to Olleh 407 like Omnichron did. I notice "blinking leds" issue happened twice since then. What I can do is remove the battery and plug it in again. Still experiencing the new upgrade!

Where did you get the package for the 407 ROM?
Have you tried this method for root?
Sorry marvin02, that's actually 406, not 407. The link to 406 was posted in another thread (Venue for GB, right?).
tuan.dsnq,
Thanks - I saw the 406 ROM.
The root method I linked to uses zergRush. You can just put the latest zergRush exploit (from that thread) into the exploits folder of SOC 2.2 to use it (SOC has an older version). That's how I rooted my Vizio tablet.
I used the latest zergRush exploit v3 but can't ROOT Dell VENUE 2.3.3 Olleh 406
Check out this thread and maybe it is legit this time: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354393
So I'm sorry if I shouldn't be creating a new thread for this. It's a pretty unique situation and I couldn't find it anywhere.
I had upgraded my P500 to official 2.3.3. I then decided "hey, I should try out some custom roms because this sucks...". I rooted with SuperOneClick, managed to install Clockworkmod recovery and the set out to find a nice new rom. I soon discovered that there weren't really any exciting ones that piqued my interest because of the new baseband. The baseband thing is also confusing the heck out of me. Anyways, I managed to KDZ Updater back to my stock firmware because I figured I might as well do something good out of this. So now I'm on 2.2.1, specifically LG v10v. This is a Koodo phone if that helps at all. Also, I'm pretty sure CWM is now wiped and super user access is gone too. Spent a good amount of time putting everything back on the silly thing yesterday lol.
First question: Am I now on new baseband or old baseband (having flashed with
KDZ)?
2nd: I keep seeing references to baseband 10 or 20 followed by a letter. Am I on baseband 10v? If I want to use a custom rom, do I need to change it to 10 a,b or c or something like that.
3rd: Seems like mixed reviews on this one all over the place. Can Rom Manager be successfully used on the P500 to install CWM or does it brick it?
Any other info you can think of would be terribly helpful. Please go easy on me! I'm not sure if I made a mistake by creating this post or not...
You can use RomManager to flash cwm, in the past you could softbrick your phone, but this issue is already solved.
With froyo you are on old baseband, so you can use almost any custom rom for old baseband. No need to flash any baseband for these roms.

Hello Crispus222 !
If you are on stock 2.2.1 V10v flashed by KDZ, you have the old baseband.
So if you wanna try custom ROMs you should search those who support the old BB.
But don't forget that you can change baseband without flash stock ROM via KDZ.
ROM Manager flash cwm recovery without problems on rooted phone, I have done this many times
1) Old baseband. If you've used a full stock 2.2.1 or lower rom, than you're on the old baeband now.
2) I'm on the old baseband and mine is 10v. So I'm assuming you're now on the old baseband! Congratulations!
3) Yes. ROM Manager CAN be used on the LG Optimus one whether you have the old or new basebands. Just install ROM manager, choose flash ClockworkMOD and then scroll down to "LGE Optimus One" and hit flash. After that, boot into recovery and you're done!
enjoy all goodies .
u r on old baseband after kdz flash.
now root using z4root . (file sharing sites remember!)
install rom manager from market and install cwm recovery n yeah it works without a glitch but its ur luck too.
reboot into recovery n there u go !

You are and have always been on OLD baseband as you have to flash the new one in a seprate step.roms don't come with any baseband included.10v\or\10s don't matter as that is OLD baseband.20g\or\20a is new baseband.Rom manager can Install CWM recovery on any p-500 sccuessfully.I would ROOT 1st before installing. The brick comes from flashing a corrupt (over the air) downloaded rom & flashing that.TWRP 1.1.1.1.XL is my choice for recovery but CWM is fine. The LGDMP tool is also my choice for flashing baseband & rescue my phone when things go wrong.ROMs run on either old baseband or new but the newer ones run both (but download the link you are going to run)choice.Hope this helps !
Thanks so much everyone! I appreciate the help a lot.
