Is there any way right now to get the Sprint One Max to work on AT&T or Verizon?
Verizon wouldnt allow a non verizon phone on their network and I dont believe sprint unlocks their phones for use on gsm by default. Even if you got it unlocked I dont believe the gsm radio parts would be included to run on att.
I stuck an AT&T Straight Talk sim in my Sprint One max and it didn't work.

That used to be true, but it all operates from the SIM now, so you should be able to just plug and play the SIM.

Of course, your phone is locked to Sprint.
HTC website says this about the phone:
Network1
2G/ 2.5G - GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G - UMTS/ HSPA:
EMEA: 900/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps
Asia: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps
Sprint: 1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 14.4 Mbps
Verizon: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz with HSPA+ up to 14.4 Mbps
3G - CDMA
800/1900 MHz for Sprint and Verizon
4G - LTE:
EMEA: 800/900/1800/2600 MHz
Asia: 900/1800/2100/2600 Mhz
Sprint: 1900 MHz
Verizon: 700 MHz
Looks to me like there's no reason the Sprint One won't work on AT&T or Verizon just not as good as the Verizon one.

I knew that before I tried it. Why would you even create a thread asking the question if you already knew the answer?

There's this new fad people are doing called "unlocking." Haha, but seriously, that's what I'm really asking is if it can be unlocked.

I know all about using sims now and the 'new' fad called unlocking...
Verizon and sprint are still cdma networks. They only allow phones they authorize on their network. You can try to unlock the phone to work on att but you will not get it authorized to work on verizon (even though it technically could).
I want to caveat the above with the fact that if you have a verizon person that is willing to break the rules and put the sprint phone on verizon after you unlock it then yes, you can use it on verizon. But you have to find a verizon person willing to get fired for adding a phone...

Of course. I've been unlocking devices since you were in diapers.
Sprint phones can rarely be unlocked. Anytime one is unlocked by a dev hack, there's a huge thread about it.
Basically, if there was a hack that could unlock the Sprint One max, you wouldn't have to open a thread to find it.

Yeah, I'm kind of surprised at how big a deal it is that the HTC One (non Max) on Sprint can be SIM unlocked.
EDIT: I was including even if it can be unlocked via one of those pay for unlock code sites. I'd probably pay a decent price to get an HTC One Max from Sprint SIM unlocked.
Found and Made a way to Unlock for the Sprint HTC one Max
I have found a way to SIM Unlock the HTC One Max on Sprint. It is almost the Same Exact way on how to unlock it on the HTC One but with a added step. I made a post about it here

According to the chart below, if I use a T-Mobile HTC One on AT&T, I would be able to use all of AT&T's HSPA+ network but will only be able to use their 700 MHz band for LTE? Am I reading it right or do I have it wrong?
I found this chart at android central (can't link because I'm blocked as a new user)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
WCDMA
AT&T: 850/1900/2100 MHz
T-Mobile: 850/AWS/1900/2100 MHz
Sprint: 700/AWS MHz
CDMA
Sprint: 800/1900 MHz (BC0/BC1/BC10)
LTE
AT&T: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz
T-Mobile: 700/AWS MHz
Sprint: 1900 MHz
Does this mean that if I have a T-Mobile phone, I can fully utilize HSPA+ speeds but not LTE speeds on AT&T?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but only if you're in a refarmed 1900mhz frequency area. You can find out if you are here: http://airportal.de/
I've been investigating this. FCC documentation suggests that the HTC One for T-Mobile is certified for LTE Band 17 (AT&T).
I've unlocked the handset, but I'm only able to access AT&T's HSPA+ network.
Out of the box, the HTC One for T-Mobile doesn't support AT&T LTE.
If there is latent support, I reckon that you'd need to flash AT&T's radio to the device.
EDIT: I stand corrected. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41237507&postcount=17
the tmobile ONE supports tmobile/att hspa and lte for both carriers. The att ONE supports lte for both but only att hspa and only tmobils 1900 hspa.

This is extremely curious to a noob like myself. To clarify, The HTC One purchased through Tmobile can be used on both the Tmobile and ATT networks? If purchased through Tmo how can I get the SIM for ATT? Can I toggle between the two? How can I utilize this awesome find to get the best out of each network. You all are smart. Thanks!

My friend has the T-mobile One and I have the AT&T One. He tried putting his T-mobile SIM in my phone, but it would not work (my AT&T One has to be unlocked, which I believe can be done if you buy an unlock code). I couldn't say if my SIM would work since my SIM is not actually AT&T's, it is a Straight Talk SIM that is compatible with AT&T's network. I imagine you could also unlock the T-mobile variant to work with AT&T's networks, but I'm not sure if it'd be able to work on the 4G network.
I was looking at the Google Play Edition S4 on the Play Store: [Can't link outside post yet but go to the Google Play Store]
According to the Specs it uses the same frequency ranges that Verizon uses:
Network
Unlocked GSM/UMTS/HSPA+/LTE
GSM/EDGE/GPRS (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
3G (850, 1900, 2100 MHz)
4G LTE (700, 850, AWS, 1900 MHz)
Would this thing work on Verizon with their sim card? Sorry in advance for sounding like a noob.
It lacks a cdma radio.

It will (presumably) work on Verizon when they do Voice over LTE... but until then, yes, it lacks a CDMA radio which means it probably won't be of use for VZW.
I knew it wouldn't work on non-CDMA networks but what about the LTE side of the house? Verizon uses 700 Mhz and 1700/2100 Mhz LTE bands for 4G. I could live without 3G for a phone that could connect to any carriers LTE freqs.

Might be fine for 4G data over LTE, but will probably be a paperweight as far as calls are concerned unless you want to go the VOIP route... not to mention you'd be SOL anywhere there's no 4G coverage. Basically there would be no fallback, you'd either have 4G data, or nothing.
I think AT&T and VZ use different ends of the 700mhz spectrum, so even if the phone somehow got authenticated onto the VZ network, the radio/antennae for AT&T's 700mhz may not work on VZ's.
So here is my situation. Getting a HTC One under Sprint. It uses a SIM card. I've been told it will work on T-Mobile. My question is can I just flash radios or will it be always stuck with just Edge?

The Sprint version of the HTC One is CDMA / LTE NOT GSM/LTE
Thanks. That was my initial thought process too. Probably just sell it. Have a Nexus 5 on the way too.

It's actually CDMA/GSM and LTE. Sprint locks down the GSM portion against using a domestic SIM from AT&T and TMobile by default. They'll unlock it for international SIMs/use if you meet certain criteria etc.
It has the necessary radios to work on Tmobile and or AT&T, you just have to have it unlocked a certain way. Search here on XDA, it's been done though it's not the easiest process.

Every LTE device will have a sim slot.
LTE is based on GSM technology. Now with that said there is a GSM variant and a CDMA variant. The CDMA variant does not have the basic GSM chipset for GPRS/ EDGE technology. So putting your sim card in there MIGHT only get you LTE in a re farmed TMO area with 1900mhz. Bottom line is if you want the phone to work like it should you need to buy a T-Mobile one.. It has the 1700mhz aws band you need for all of T-Mobiles network.

Hi ,
I want to do similar stuff.
I am currently using SPRINT Phone on my T-mobile network . It works fine (Just some network auto disconnect issues sometimes).
BUT , I want Tmobile Stock ROM on my SPRINT Phone... (Only Reason for that: I want WIFI-CALLING - Which only Tmobile supports)
Have anyone flashed SPRINT with TMOBILE ROM (Stock)

I'd say check and see what frequency they operate at then compare it with the max. As long as your sim card slot is unlocked it should I would think.

I have a Sprint One Max that I sim unlocked and use a straight talk at&t sim , mms works with go sms , or evolve , just have to manually set APN settings I get a better signal than I did with my htc sensation with a straight talk t-mobile sim , no LTE but HSPA , I know the Max is compatible with at&t or t-mobile straight talk sims and pretty much covers all bands for just about everyone but I would still double check with the provider you want to use just to make sure

there is no other difference rather than they are locked on just sprint sim ... and sprint guys will unlock it for you for international use for free .. and if you want to unlock it for US then either follow the steps in the unlocking thread for HTC one max or either pay them to unlock your phone
