[Q] Headphone Jack Troubles

Has anyone else experienced issues with their headphone jack? Last week, my headphone jack started acting flaky.
While listening to a podcast (doggcatcher), music would start playing randomly (so I thought). I investigated a little bit and it seemed that my phone thought I unplugged my headphones. I found that I could cause this to happen by wiggling the headphone plug - it would either cause static, volume changes or make the phone think I unplugged it. Once I experienced my first problems, my DX2 would be unusable for listening to audio.
I exchanged my orginal (just under a month old) DX2 for another one at Best Buy Mobile. One day later, with a new phone, the symptoms started again.
I have experimented with different headphones, and even different audio cables.
Is this a known issue or am I just having bad luck? I don't want to keep exchanging my phone every week/month.
I think it is a known issue but I've read it is software related. Hopefully an update will fix it. I miss Pandora! Lol

sound noise

Hello everyone
I just got my archos 80 g9 turbo and I am really happy for the price.
But unfortunately I have a problem with the sound. If nothing makes a sound for some time , the sound becomes distorded like white noise. If I change the volume the sound is fixed until is silent for a while and becomes distorted again.
I tried re initialize everything as it seems to me like a software problem but no luck.
Anyone had the same problem ?
Edit: I think it is completely random when noise starts. But after sometime just stops....

Hey buddy,
i've got the same problem with my just bought Archos G9 101 Turbo.
Sometimes there comes a crackling noise out of the speakers. Sounds a bit like an old reeeally dusty vinyl record...
Is there any solution available?
I tried many software wise tweaks to solve the problem, nothing worked. So i rma it and hey send me a new one. Even the new does it but much less so i can live with it.
I have seen 3 archos 80g9 and all of them had the same problem ,so i believe its a design flaw...

I am on my second Archos G9 101 250GB Turbo. I returned the first one because of random crackling noise from the speakers (and for the phantom screen clicks). Both problems still exist on my replacement device. The noise occurs at random times for a few seconds then stops. I have noticed that it only occurs when the WiFi is on.
I use the Archos solely in the car as a media player (connected to my stereo via aux-in) for hours on end without ever getting the crackling noise, yet when I get home and connect to the WiFi…there is the noise again. I am not sure if this is software or a hardware issue.
I can live with this though because it works flawlessly as a first rate car stereo.
Yes, there are differences unit to unit. What I observed that the 2 units that came out of the box with honeycomb had this issue much more than the one that came with ics.
I am not sure if it is hardware or software either, my impression is still that is software because it is audible from phones and also looks like the crackling noise continues until the stream is over.
For example:
You play an mp3 and it starts with crackling sound.
The sound continues to be crackling until everything is silenced for a couple seconds
Then everything is normal.
But it appears to be random (haven't test with wifi turned off, I use it all the time with on ).
If some dev can check sources for solution or identify the problem I would be thankful

Same problem on the turbo. Anyone found a workaround yet?

I have not heard the crackle noise on my Archos for a about two weeks now. I use it as a media player (mp3) two hours a day everyday in the car. The Archos is in a dock on the car dashboard connected to my car stereo via Aux-in, I hardly ever hold it in my hands
The Archos 10i G9 Turbo is totally standard OS wise. I have replaced the original 250GB HDD with a 512GB SSD and because I only use it as an MP3 player and nothing else; I have disabled every application I was able to. I no longer use Bluetooth or WiFi.
I suspect it may have something to do with (based on my observation only and not on scientific basis):
1) WiFi connection?
2) Holding it?
3) Use of internal speakers?
4) Heat?
5) Software?

1) in my case no
2) in my case no
3) the problem is only with internal speaker
4) I'm not sure but it may be .........
5) with diferents rooms seems that the same, I'm not sure, so I asked
I think the problem is impedances, but the device that causes the problem is........?????
if the reason is this design flaw and not well protected the speaker.
Are speculations but together we can get something clear
Someone else with the same problem can describe when it happens what is doing?
Thx.
My first g9 did it everywhere, mp3, youtube , browser, games... and it was totally random in my opinion (i didnt check wifi on -off ). Very very very irritating.
I suggest you to rma yours like i did mine.
Btw with what android version your tablet came?

4.0.6, upgrade to 4.0.7, rooted and now with [email protected] V3.
I just got a G9 80 with v4.06 on it. If it's plugged to the charger & charging, the electrical garbed sound will be there when typing or upon playing music/videos. If the charger is not plugged it, the garbed sound is intermittent when playing sound.
Seems like faulty hardware or a design flaw to me.
I will try the following when I reach home later:
1) upgrade to 4.07 & test
2) Test with earphones inserted
Results:
1) upgrade to 4.07 & test (same issue )
2) Test with earphones inserted (clean sound playback, so it's the speaker only.)
I found out something upon inserting a usb thumbdrive to the G9. I have no sound garbed when the thumbdrive is inserted & enabled.
This is true for games & music, but when playing videos (Big Buck Bunny), sometimes the problem is still there. The inserted thumbdrive seems to reduce the frequency of garbed sound.
Can it be a grounding issue?
Hi
Everything you say makes me think the same thing, shielding is the problem, i do not know if the speaker or cables are not well insulated.
I think the key word here is impedances, with good insulation could be solved.
I not have so much electronic knowledge to fix it.
some electronic some out there who can help us ??????

[Q] Crackling on Headphone jack

Hi guys,
Having a bit of a weird problem with my headphone jack - when I plug in headphones the notification light comes on, and if I listen to music with the screen off, I get loads of crackles and pops. I'm guessing this is a hardware issue (I just got this Atrix as a replacement after my digitiser failed on the last one... joy...), but does anyone know of a fix? Or just this happening to anyone else?
cheers for any help!

M8 on Earphones - Loud short static noise after calls

I've been searching here and in other forums about this issue that I'm having and I'm not sure if someone else is having the same issue.
I have 2 earphones, one is the one that came out of the box (HTC with black flat wires and red earplugs) and also bought an HTC urBeats headset (red round cable with heavy metal black earplugs).
Every after a call, there's a loud static cracking sound that happens and it's getting pretty annoying specially when you had the call in the highest volume.
Is there anyone experiencing this? Is it a unit issue, software issue... need help!
Yes!! So far as I can tell, it only happens with HTC wired headsets. In my case it started happening suddenly about 3 weeks ago, and I thought it was related to using an old car charger that had a faulty connection. I've had my M8 since it was released, and originally was just using a fairly cheap set of Sony miked headphones, and never noticed the (to me) painfully jarring screech noise upon disconnect until I used the HTC ones that came with the phone. No static with Jaybird Bluebudz Bluetooth headset. I don't know what is causing it for certain though.

I noticed that it does not happen with bluetooth connected devices. I have a Jlab Crasher and calls works well too.
Has anyone tried other earphones? I'm wondering if it's isolated to HTC earphones or wired earphones in general.
With mine, I just confirmed it happens on all wired headphones, not just the stock ones. Initially it was just on the OEM headphones. Another thing that happened on both the OEM and my basic mic'd Sonys is that it will disconnect the call I'm on. I hope I don't have a defective headphone jack. Really don't want to have to return this thing.

Strange issue with my headphones and HTC One M8

I have an HTC one M8 running stock 6.0 Marshmallow. I've been using these Amazon headphones for over a year with no issues. However as I was entering my house yesterday the music I was listening to all of the sudden stopped and whenever I plug the headphones in, any audio (call or music) plays through the phone's speakers.
I tried the headphones in my computer and they work fine. I also took another cheaper of headphones I have laying around to see if the headphone jack was the issue and I was able to get sound from the cheaper headphones.
I also tried rebooting the phone to see if it was some sort of software glitch. This whole thing is pretty strange. Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
