So I tried to flash clockworkmod recovery to my galaxy s2 and now it's on a bootloop and the home button has been broken for a while so is there any way to fix the bootloop in this situation?
Simple answer.....no.....
You're bootlooping so you need to get into recovery, you need the home button to access recovery.......
Get the home button fixed.....problem solved.
You *might* be able to boot into recovery through ADB.......don't ask me how, I don't know how......but I'm pretty sure that even that won't work if you don't have USB Debugging enabled.......

I found that I might be able to get to download mode and flash stock rom with odin by using a USB jig. What do you think about that? The phone had USB debugging enabled when this problem started and the phone is rooted. I was earlier able to boot into recovery mode using adb but now I can't because PC won't recognize the phone since it won't boot correctly.
Try it & find out (the jig), but Keith's advice stands; if you do manage to get that done, fix the home button immediately after. You're just asking for the SHTF at some point & you'll end up without a working phone when you most need it (again).
Fixing the button is probably too costly and it's hard to do myself because I believe the screen has to be outfitted to do that. I'll order the jig now and report here if it solved my problem.
I was in a similar situation, tried flashing many roms. No luck.
Until I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/general/guide-t2345831
The "Another option for i9100" did it for me.
Good luck!
Yeah I got the phone working with usb jig. I flashed official rom, that I downloaded from Sammobile, with Odin3.

I'm stuck at the Vibrant boot screen, and when I try and plug it in the USB and user adb devices, it doesn't recognize it. I've tried Droid Explorer, and I believe my Vibrant is hardware locked.
Any ideas? Sorry to make another thread but I couldn't find a solution to anyone with this problem.
What did you do to it?
Search around the forum, there is a post talking about getting into download mode with hardware lock phones.
If you are able to get into download mode you can use ODIN to install stock ROM again.
Something incredibly stupid, I tried flashing a custom kernel on the stock ROM.
Yeah that's all I've been doing. I've read all the threads I can find about how to get into download mode with a locked Vibrant, but no luck =[.
Launch Odin
Plug in USB to PC not the Phone
Insure Phone is off
Hold down Vol +/-
Plug in cable
Hold down +/- about a second
Walla you are in Download and should see a yellow triangle
Have you tried turning off your phone and turning it on holding down the Vol +/- and power and entering Recovery mode?
From there you could flash a nandroid backup if you made one that is. Sometimes I get lucky if its in the regular recovery and use the Re-do package option and sometimes I get it up and running.
Of course it just depends on where you are in your flash and what your phone will allow you to do.
Tried that oh so many times, and it just wouldn't budge.
At first I was actually able to run ADB commands... and before I had read more about it, I booted it into recovery (instead of dl mode fml) and wiped cache/user. I already tried reflashing zips to see if CW would start up so I could restore my nandroid backup I had made.
Anyways, now ADB doesn't even recognize the phone. And I tried to install the drivers on my laptop to see if that would do the trick, but I'm still stuck.
Edit: I just tried to use the method you gave in your first post again and I just get the battery charging screen. Thanks for trying to help though, I appreciate it.
So I already posted in both threads similar to mine I'm posting now, but those problems seem to be different from the problem I'm having.
So everyone says to do the emergency "power on with volume up held down"
But mine never powers off. The Boot loop goes from the boot loop sequence, and if I force it off it goes to "Entering Upload Mode: Cause Unknown". Forcing that off it immediately boots into the boot loop. So I can never shut it off, so I can never enter the emergency "hard reset" mode, because the device never shuts off. Eventually the battery dies, but the hard reset doesn't worth then either.
Does anyone know how to use the upload mode? The link to a samsung driver in the other thread is now a broken link. And once I'm able to write data to the device, where do I get the right set of android hard reset files?
I have no data on the device I need.
I have a very similar situation. Since yesterday my tab got caught in a boot loop. Didn't made any changes, just went into it. And the only way to turn it off is to force it to go to download mode and turn it off down by holding power button from there. I have rooted it a long time ago. I can't get into recovery mode by holding power+up. All I can get it the download mode that first says "waiting for usb cable" and if I connect it to the PC it goes to "press the [START] of Odin3". Do I need to try the fastboot method and reset it to factory details? I've being trying to do that but no devices were listed... Or do I need to reflash something with oding again? Please, just give me a tip.
Does anyone know how to use "upload mode" ?

i know what download mode is but what is upload mode?
can you get into download mode?
pwr + button next to it...hold until a menu pops up.
if you can then just flash a odin rom from there...get it from here or sammobile.com
hi
i have similar situation. i have a boot loop also. i can get into download mode. but then i can't get into odin3 download mode. it's stuck on waiting usb cable.
i just want to flash stock rom. i'v tried flashing a custom rom. but something went wrong and now i have this problem. hope somebody can help me.
If you're using a windows machine reinstall the drivers and see if that helps get past the problem. If you need links I have to get on my PC an copy and paste from there. Keep us updated. I've been there done that I think. So I hope I can help.

What drivers? I've never installed any drivers of any kind, nor does my manual mention the need for drivers?
What is Odin, and why have I never heard of it? Why can't I find a download link for Odin?
Also, why can't I find any information about Odin?
This is the best I can find, but it appears to not be the maker.... http://www.rootingdroid.com/246/flash-your-samsung-with-odin-download-odin/
The instructions on that page:
" Using your data cable, connect your Android device to your computer. Turn off your mobile device for 30 seconds then power it up by pressing and holding HOME, POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons until you will be prompted that you have entered in download mode."
I finally got into download mode! I had to connect the USB cable to the device. However, the copy of Odin3 I found is just a giant box with blank text fields. I have no idea what I'm doing with it. It did not auto detect my device, and I have no idea what firmware version I currently am using because I can't get the device to boot.
I tried to Unroot my Galaxy Tab 10.1 LTE last night and think I may have bricked my tablet. I used the instructions here on the XDA forum which had a link to all the Stock ROM's in one place. I got the most recent one and the only one for USA but it said it was for the model 7510. I didn't think that would be a problem since the USB drivers I installed on my PC were also labeled as being for the 7510 and they worked.
This tablet is the SCH-I905. Now I can't get it to boot at all. Gets stuck in a boot loop. Shows the Samsung logo, then resets and does it again. I can't get it in recovery mode either. Goes to a black screen and hangs.
Using the normal process to get to Download mode doesn't work. Holding Power and Volume Up, then letting go of the Power button, then pressing Volume Down and then Up. That's one weird thing. I can get to the option screen that shows the Download and Recovery mode options. Normally I would hit the Volume Down button to select Download mode and on the screen it says to press Volume Up to continue or Volume Down to cancel. If I press Volume Up it goes to a black screen and hangs. If I press Volume Down I get the Odin Download screen that says Waiting on USB cable.
That screen doesn't look the same as what I normally see but I'm not sure what's different. I didn't memorize each line of text. I just know there's not as much text there as there usually is. My PC will not recognize the tablet no matter which USB port I try to use and the tablet doesn't recognize that the USB cable is plugged in. I had no problem with the USB connection before I flashed the 7510 stock ROM.
So, if I cannot get to recovery mode and I can't get Download mode to work so I can use Odin to flash a different rom then is this thing bricked or is there something else I can try? I am about to try using my laptop and its USB ports but I don't think that's going to make any difference.
BTW, I have since found the correct 'stock recovery rom' at droidbasement.com and downloaded it to my PC. I just need to get on the tablet somehow.
Many people have your problem. I have my Lte verizon bricked as yours. The problem is demaged bootloader, only nvflash can fix it but actually our bootloader is locked and we need a hex key called sbk. At least we have to wait that somebody hack our tab from the basement. For now we can only search and share result.

I think my i9100 suffered a power button issue that requires /efs/imei/keystr fix. However before i knew the method to fix it, i somehow flashed cf-root to my MIUI installed phone to flash siyah kernel again to make the power button work. If i flashed cf-root, it stucks at the screen but no problem since my power button works before the phone is turned on.
now, the power button doesn't work when the phone is off and on. I can't access recovery due to this. Anyone got any alternatives? Really need help:crying:

A USB jig could help

so if i plugged in the usb jig, it will straight away reboot into recovery without pressing the power button?
edit: just saw a youtube video on it, guess plug in and it will directly go to download mode....but i wonder, if it is in download mode, can i just plug it out and plug in my usb to pc to flash a new kernel?

I just realized that I flashed a I747 Galaxy S3 ROM to an I717 (argh) Galaxy Note. I now can't seem to get into download mode or recovery by holding the VolUp and VolDown while starting the phone with the power button.
How can I get it back into Download mode so that I can flash the right ROM?
(I also inadventently wiped EFS, but that's for a different thread)

So did you edit the ROM to remove the asserts or something? How could you possibly flash the wrong ROM?
It's possible you've bricked it, as different ROMs have different partition tables and possible that you over-wrote the bootloader with random other stuff.
Hold Volume Down and Power, when your see the phone turn on, let go of Power. If you don't see any screens there, try again. If it still doesn't..... You can try one of the dongle things you can get online.
If you see absolutely nothing, ever, powered, plugged in USB, etc... I suspect you bricked it.
downloded clockworkmod rom manger, then TWRP Manager, rebooted into recovery mode and install PhilZ CWM Recovery which was for GT-N7000 immediate after installing PhilZ CWM Recovery screen gone blank, VolUpDn power center all buttons are disabled, not able able to boot into recovery/usb download mode phone is dead. :crying:
Please suggest how can i get back my Samsung Galaxy Note SGH-I717 to the Life :crying:
You're bricked. You can send it away for repair.
You can order a usb jig to force download mode so you can reflash firmware.
Or you can use it as a paperweight!
Check this site out for your options.

want to know if i change the mother board from GT-N7000 to SGH-i717 will it work?
