on mj 9 verizon trying to send update and failing - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

my phone is on I605VRUEMJ9.. Is there another update being sent? Verizon has tried twice and failed both times. I thought this was the latest update from Verizon. I'm running Jet_Rom v3.0

I'm on jett as well and seeing the same thing. Its a good thing, you don't want the update if you are on a custm rom. There are threads about how to stop the update.

Just flash a custom ROM or AOSP Crespo ROM. If your ROM is the one that you got with your phone then it should have no trouble updating. I don't know when Gingerbread checks for updates but I remember when I first got my phone it updated pretty much straight away.
Regardless, flashing to a stock or custom ROM would probably be your best bet as, from what I've heard, Google will be pushing OTA updates to the Nexus S for ICS soon anyway.

Try pushing it. Set the date for a year down the line and leave the phone for an hour.

In my phone also i was not getting any update .
The phone was bought it from USA , which is a factory unlocked T Mobile Nexus S and the same is using in India, through Vodafone.
What i done was, changed my SIM to the T-Mobile which came along with the pack and immediately i got a system up-gradation message. Now enjoying ICS.

[Q] A new software update is available

So this morning the Easter bunny left me a present... My AT&T LGOG says software update available. Does anyone know if the bunny dropped off Jellybeans or just another egg?
I was trying to get a screenshot of the useless message, but the update tried to install and the phone rebooted. Then the firmware update screen reported a failure. After reboot my phone still works on ICS. I'm going to take a backup now and be safe as long as the update doesn't update recovery/bootloader...
Turns out my screenshot worked after all.

It's just the E97011c update people got back in December ...
What are the changes?
Got the same update notification but when I tried to install it, gave me a error message because I'm rooted. Was hoping it will be jellybean.

It isn't I woke up and installed it hoping it would be JB, turns out it is a minor update to 11c that was handed out to a lot of people in December.

Yes, I updated mine over my home WiFi
Can confirm OTA update fails if rooted and unlocked, even from stock ROM.

its supposed to fail if you're unlocked

Was just wondering that. My E970 is rooted on the stock ROM. Doesn't seem like the update does anything useful.

were you rooted? If so, did you lose root or anything else for that matter?
Darn
Darn, I was thinking it would have been quite funny if AT&T released a candy named update on a holiday associated with said candy...
Yep, I am still on 10o so this is just the step to 11c.
My ladies LOGO is just rooted NOT unlocked and the software update that came in today worked. So if her phone was Unlocked it would of failed correct?

Yes. Can you re-root it?
I'm on stock & rooted. Not unlocked.
Update notification went off this morning; read some of this thread; told it to let me know again in 8hrs.
Just went off again, I said ok, whatever, told it to update. It rebooted, & now it's just sitting there at the white, "rethink possible" screen.
Key combo reboot actually got it into the "software update" screen, but that then error'd at 1% complete. Error was something like, "01X03fed." It disappeared too quickly while I was typing this. Rebooted again, fully this time, and a, "Installation interrupted" warning is showing.
Hopefully the update notification will be gone, too...

Why are you updating?

Anybody here feel confused with some of the users that are updating to the latest locked down firmware, I just find it weird that people are knowingly locking down their phones, the main reason people come here is to do the opposite. I've read people apply the update and they still ask for some sort of support from community members. I just dont get it.

I read some saying they didn't care and after some did the update they said the phone was faster and worth losing root. Others just want root and were able to update using voodoo ota rootkeeper. To keep root and update.

They kept root in a sense. Yes, they can still run some apps that require root, but they cannot flash a custom kernel or recovery.

I traded my note 2 and got this. Met the guy at Verizon. Got the prompt for the OTA and took it before I knew what was good for me. Although I would have preferred not to, I am very impressed with the stock firmware.
Only disappointment which would make me want to root is WiFi tethering doesn't work in Pdanet, and of course the annoying WiFi toggle - both things I'm content dealing with without pulling hair out while I wait for the new exploit.

I've noticed a few of the update fans haven't posted in here for awhile. Possible a good thing for the community.

Same thing here. Strange. Spent 4-5 hours trying to OTA it yesterday, postponed the install a couple times until just now, and after doing its thing I'm still 4.1.2.
I have not yet being asked to update from AT&T Menu, I'm outside of US, (Ecuador), maybe will take a bit more time?
Anyway, I got the RUU thing, will wait a couple more days before doing it manually..
I dont want to lose everything though and do it manually

I'm having the same experience
I am also having this issue. Downloaded the update (took forever), installed the update while connected to power, rebooted and Voila!.....nothing. I went back into about phone and nothing changed. Even worse, now it says my software is up to date. What a let down as I've been waiting for this for awhile
I just checked and updated downloaded the 567 mb or whatever, and mine says 4.3 no problems at all. I checked for update under about menu and said no updates available, then checked under the att update and it said one was ready for d/l, not sure which u guys did it under.
The same thing happened for me yesterday. I did a software check from ATT on my phone and it said I had an update that was around 246Mb I think, downloaded it at the speed of molasses, installed it and nothing updated. I ended up having to jump my phone's date ahead 2 days and check for an update before it said I had one at 564Mb to download and install. After that I was at 4.3.

Little update: I did a factory reset then tried updating again, and that time I got the full 500+ meg download and am now running 4.3. So if you're stuck doing the OTA and it says you're up to date with 4.1.2, maybe do a factory reset and try again.
So, I think what's happening here is that there are a total of 3 updates needed. The first is only like 20 MB, the second is the 246 MB one that others have mentioned and then the final update is the 565 MB update that actually brings you up to 4.3. It seems that either AT&T or HTC has set a requirement that several days have to pass after installing one update, before it will allow the next one to install. So, I was initially told there was an update for my yesterday. I chose to update and it downloaded a 20 MB update that installed. Then when I checked the version and saw that it hadn't changed, I checked to see if there was another. After reading Shinryuu's comment, I manually changed the date on my phone 2 days forward and was then able to download the 246 MB update. I then checked again and the version was still 4.1.2. I then checked for another update and nothing. Then I manually changed the date on my phone forward another couple days and now I am downloading the 565.7 MB final update.
Yea correct that 246mb update didn't do much, but mine would say it was up to date, jump the time a day on my phone and I tried it again and said it was up to date BUTTT after I hit ok the download thing poped up and started downloading the 560 mb one.. kinda odd but it's 4.3
So can't really complain

How to check for OTA on root

Seeing how 4.3 will be officially released soon.
Does anyone know how we can check for manufactures 4.3 OTA running hyperdrive 10 ROM
In settings>about phone option isn't there to check for any ota.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
OTAs on custom roms are disabled for obvious reasons... if you want that feature back then you'll have to flash the stock rom. You could try to manually install the SDM 1.0 app which I believe controls the OTA notifications but I'm not sure if that'll work
