Debloat the Z2 - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone, I just got my Z2 and I want to stick with the stock ROM but I Want to Debloat it. what is the safest and easiest way to do that please help me.

The safest way via non root is to disable or uninstall via settings>apps>all
The safest root way is to only to delete apps you can see in the app drawer

Root and unroot apk

Hi. Is it there a root and unroot apk for sgs ii? I.e. like gingerbreak but using psneuter as needed by our phones?
(would like an easy way to root and unroot without a pc so I can use some apps that don't like root, like "good for enterprise" email)
I did google and lots of questions but no answers.
Thank you.

I'm not sure but i don't think that there's an apk. But you could try to flash a custom-root-kernel like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
I also think it's an very very easy way to root your device. Takes less then 5 minutes for me

Thanks. It's more switching back and forth I'm after. I am already rooted

The only way currently is to flash back to a stock ROM after root. The gingerbreak exploit was patched before release.

Installing apps then rooting

I have been installing a few apps and now im questioning if I am going to have to install these apps again after I root this phone? Those of you that have rooted your phone, have you have to install your apps again?
Thanks!
No.
From your question it would appear you are new to rooting. It does not mess with the installed apps; it provides more access to the OS so you can do more.

Rooting will only give root access, but changing the kernel will force you to format your phone?

[Q] Install AOSP SMS app without root?

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to install the AOSP SMS app without root? The touchwiz SMS app is annoying me and I'm not quite ready to start flashing new roms.

Don't believe so, since you'll need to access /system on the phone, and you need a root browser [with root permissions] to go there/ You can do the simple rooting process [literally takes less than 2 minutes] have root, stock rom with root access, then install the apk.

At the risk of being flamed, which process exactly allows root for under 2 minutes? Through Odin?
Is there a fix yet for the counter?

Don't really worried about the counter, if you rally so paranoid about it, ask how many people been refused for insurance or service from the counter, I rooted all my phones and by law they have to help you with the device, of course don't boot loop your phone by flashing something that doesn't belong to your s3(another carrier or model) I and you should be good, I have rooted over 10 devices (own devices) and had service in 4 and they never said anything, I even Sent my old evo rooted to asurion and I don't get charged for the new one they sent me

Aosp rom without su.apk

Hey guys, I've been searching the forums and I can't find a pure Google rom without root. Mainly because I use an app that requires the phone to be as secure as possible. So my question is: Can I simply delete the su.apk and use the app? Just to let you know its the Barclays mobile banking app.

no, use Siyah kernel, and select temporary unroot feature in extweaks.
This will disable root for some time and thus allowing you to run your app
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
He's right you can ExTweaks to temporarily unroot. However, in Cyanogenmod 9 there's an option to disable root for apps alone or adb in the security settings I believe, either there or development options.

[Q] Force install apk

Hi guys,
Is it possible to force install apk on non rooted device? My problem is this : I had my Sony tablet S rooted and using lucky patcher I removed ads from some app. This created odex file. Lately I've installed the new official update, knowing that I will loose root (which I did not really need anyway). Now, there is no root for this new version yet and due to the odex file for the app created on /data I cannot install this app via market/adb. I know with factory reset it will resolved by I cannot backup my apps now (remember, no root)
I don't think it's possible without root. Sorry mate

You can still use MyBackup.
