[Q] D620r headset volume hack failed - LG G2 Mini

Hello guys, I have tried many times to edit the /system/etc/mixer_paths.xml in order to increase the volume of the headphones (ones plugged in the 3.5mm jack on top) of my LG G2 D620r, but every time I did, when I rebooted, it stuck at the LG logo.
these are the values in mixer_paths.xml I fiddled with: from 14 (original value) to 18
<ctl name="HPHL Volume" value="18" />
<ctl name="HPHR Volume" value="18" />
Has anyone tried it and succeeded?

I myself prefer using viper4android or pure audio to boost the sound in headphones... I don't know what happened in your case. I'd suggest to flash a kdz tho

Don't worry, the phone is flashed with LG-stock KDZ and fully operational, really don't understand how a parameter of that sort would result to a stuck-on-boot situation.

I don't think I want to tweak my bootloader or install CWM just yet.
So I cannot install what you suggested

I don't seem to be able to find a way or setting to boost the output level of the headphones using the G2 Tweakbox, although I found many other helpful settings like the navbar height changer :good:

You're right!
I installed Viper4android and it worked, tweaked the settings and I have higher volume than before, not much but it's enough. Thanks a lot!

Anyone with knowledge of developing, can make a successful edit or help me edit the original mixer_paths.xml file that will not stuck on boot?
It is really frustrating when I try to listen music or talk to the phone using the AUX port in my car to have to turn the volume all the way up
I have attached the original mixer_paths.xml
https://www.dropbox.com/s/na5bqqsuyi4k1aw/mixer_paths - original.xml?dl=0
So far I have tried to change parameters in:
<path name="headphones-lite"><ctl name="SLIM RX1 MUX" value="AIF1_PB"/><ctl name="SLIM RX2 MUX" value="AIF1_PB"/><ctl name="SLIM_0_RX Channels" value="Two"/><ctl name="RX1 MIX1 INP1" value="RX1"/><ctl name="RX2 MIX1 INP1" value="RX2"/><ctl name="CLASS_H_DSM MUX" value="RX_HPHL"/><ctl name="RDAC3 MUX" value="DEM2"/><ctl name="HPHL DAC Switch" value="1"/><ctl name="HPHL Volume" value="15"/><ctl name="HPHR Volume" value="15"/><ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="58"/><ctl name="RX2 Digital Volume" value="58"/>

both to a higher value (but not over 19)
and

in the mixer settings on the top to a higher value (but not over 19)
but not both at the same time
Sorry to say that every change in this file I made resulted in a soft-brick

solution
just unmount system r/w to r/o after applying changes then reboot

[How To] Increase speaker volume [ATT G2]

This is for the ATT LG G2 and requires you to be rooted. If you are not comfortable modifying system files, please do not go any further!
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage you should do to your shiny new device. This works as is, however it requires you knowing how to obtain root, navigate your file system with a root browser, and properly set permissions. Being as this device has no form of recovery or backup, please be careful when modifying system files.
So, I love the G2 but was somewhat unsatisfied with the speaker output. I decided to figure out how to change the volume gain.
Volume gain for the speaker is found in the following directory: /system/etc/snd_soc_msm
The file that needs to be modified is called "snd_soc_msm_Taiko". Please copy this file to your storage before changing it in case you need a file to revert from.
Open this file with a text editor. I prefer "920 text editor" from the play store.
Find this code:
Code:
SectionDevice
Name "Speaker"
Comment "Speaker Rx device"
EnableSequence
'SLIM RX1 MUX':0:AIF1_PB
'SLIM_0_RX Channels':0:eek:ne
'RX7 MIX1 INP1':0:RX1
'RX7 Digital Volume':1:60
'SPK DRV Volume':1:90
'SPK DAC Switch':1:1
'RX7 HPF cut off':0:MIN_3DB_150Hz
EndSequence
"60" is the stock gain for the speaker.
'RX7 Digital Volume':1:60
Change "60" to a number of your liking, For me "65" was enough to make notifications much louder. Too high and distortion will kick in. I'm sure too high could cause damage. Small increments are best.Play around with this number till you find what you like.
Save the file with the default file name and copy back to the following directory: /system/etc/snd_soc_msm
Change permissions to RW-R-R
Reboot
That is all it takes
Is this only for external speaker or headphone as well? Am also unhappy with the loudness of the speaker. Headphone volume is good and am satisfied. but external speaker, its same as GS3.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using Tapatalk 2
Thanks for sharing this -- great stuff!! Any chance you could post the complete file, so we could see what all can be changed (headphone vol, etc.)? (I don't have G2 yet.)
thanks a lot, great to see this stuff so early. quality on external speaker is definitely not a bad thing, but I'm concerned about volume cause I can never hear my notifications

Maybe try saving a copy, then editing it and paste on top of original. When I did this stuff on GS3, I edited the file on pc and then pasted it in.
Volume is terrible on my VZW version.

[MOD] Headphone & Speaker Volume Boost for Custom ROMs

Hey guys ! I have found TWO different mods to increase the volume on custom roms.
REQUIREMENTS
Must have a file named mixer_paths.xml
A file manager and an XML editor. I use ES File Manager, as it is a file manager with a built in Editor.
ROOTED Phone
HEADPHONE
MOD 1
Mod 1 is for roms that have ' RX1 Digital Volume and RX2 Digital Volume ' in the headphones section.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
What To Do:
1. Go to /system/etc and open mixer_paths.xml
2. Scroll down to the headphones section and look for the lines: RX1 Digital Volume and RX2 Digital Volume
3. In those lines you will see 'value=65' your value may be different
4. For a safe volume, change it to 74 or 75
5. Save changes and reboot
MOD 2
Mod 2 is for roms that do NOT have RX1 Digital Volume or RX2 Digital Volume in the headphones section. This WILL increse speaker volume.
What To Do:
1. Go to /system/etc and open mixer_paths.xml
2. Scroll down to the headphones section
3. If you see RX1 Digital Volume and RX2 Digital Volume, please follow mod 1
4. Scroll back up to the top and you will see RX1-7 (RX1 RX2 RX3 RX4 RX5 RX6 RX7) and they will have the same values
5. What i did was changed the value to 90 for safe volume, so change it to any number under 90
6. Save changes and reboot
Enjoy
** Mod 2 WILL increase speaker volume. I am working on a post for Mod 1.
SPEAKER
This one is specifically for ROMs with the 'RX3 Digital Volume' line.
What To Do:
1. Go to /system/etc and open mixer_paths.xml
2. Scroll down to the speaker section, where you will find the RX3 Digital Volume line
3. Change it to any number under 70.
• I changed the number to 70, and it is incredible, but there is some sound distortion with music players with built in EQs, so what i did was install Viper4Android and fixed the distortion in the speaker tab. It is located here:
4. Save your changes and reboot.
Enjoy
@evanprice Thnx for the wonderfull post.
Could you please let me know if you can enhance the Volume of inbuilt phone speaker somehow. I mean both, the in-call speaker and the Loudspeaker.
Awaiting your response.
Thanks.

Disable home button wake on NC5 to MK2 to rooted NC5 ROM

I used the Surge1223 method to downgrade then upgrade to rooted NC5. Everything works good except I can not disable the home button from waking when locked.
I tried removing "WAKE" from gpio-keys.kl & Generic.kl, the options stick after a reboot but it will not disable the home button from waking when locked?
If I remove the key 172 entry it disables the home button, so I know it is reading/using the files. Just not removing the wake option.
Has anybody else found a way to fix this?

If your rooted get xposed and install Wanam module there is a setting in there.

Installing xposed with the wanam module worked.
But I would still like to know why it will not work by changing the gpio-keys.kl file?

Well, i dont really want to argue anything, as i stated before, whatever sound good with your ear is ok. For me, as i already use v4a before and other sound mod too on v30, it make too much sound latency which interfere with some of my app and game, and for me too, i found a combination of poweramp and DAC with bass boost and short filter together with my KZ ATE make a perfect sound stage and clarity. So in my opinion , whatever sound good is ok.
